Can a bigger machine scent a terrace? No. This is physics rather than capacity - there is nothing to contain the fragrance, so more output simply consumes more product for no result.
What happens when the terrace doors are open? The interior loses fragrance through the opening and gains outside air, so a penthouse that runs correctly with doors shut can read as empty with them open.
The terrace cannot be scented. The threshold can
A penthouse with large terraces raises the request we decline most often, and it is worth handling it directly rather than improvising around it. The terrace cannot be scented. Not with a larger machine, not with a different product, not with better placement. Outdoor air - fully open or covered by a pergola, a soffit or an overhang - is not an enclosed volume, so there is nothing to contain fragrance and it disperses as fast as it is produced. A bigger unit installed there does not hold more fragrance in the space; it consumes product at a higher rate to achieve the same nothing. That is worth saying as plainly as possible, because the terrace is the space a penthouse client most wants scented, the request will be made, and a specifier who declines it clearly is believed on everything else they recommend. The same applies to a covered verandah, a balcony, a pergola-covered dining terrace and a covered parking area - all of them, for the same reason. What can be done is the boundary, and it is genuinely effective. Scent the inside of the threshold: the part of the living volume within a few metres of the terrace doors. What that produces is a transition rather than a state - a person walking in from the terrace crosses from outdoor air into a room that reads clean and considered, and the character is carried by the contrast. This works better than it sounds, and the reason is the same physiological fact that makes an entrance the highest-value position in any home: somebody coming in from outside has a nose that has not adapted to the house, and the first few seconds are read accurately. A penthouse terrace door is functionally a second front door, used many times a day, and it should be treated as one. Place the source on hard surface inside, in the path of air movement but not directly in the door draught where it will simply be stripped, on a console rather than at floor level, and on a tray, because reed oil marks stone, timber and lacquered surfaces and porous stone absorbs it permanently. Keep it out of direct sunlight, which a threshold position often has, because heat speeds evaporation and empties a bottle early while running it stronger meanwhile. The second thing to plan for is that terrace doors get opened, and when they do the interior changes. A penthouse that reads correctly when it is sealed and air-conditioned can read as almost empty with the doors open, because the interior is losing fragrance through the opening and gaining outside air continuously. There is no fix for that and it should not be chased with output, because raising the level to compensate for an open door produces a room that is too strong the moment the door shuts. The honest approach is to set the level for the sealed condition, which is how the house runs for most of the day in most Indian cities, and accept a lower result when it is open. This is one of the situations where timer and app control genuinely earns its cost rather than being a convenience, which is why the Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is the machine we specify most often for penthouses: waterless with no tank, coverage up to 1,000 square metres or roughly 10,700 square feet, with Bluetooth app and timer control. Below it, the Megh at Rs 3,499 with a 6L tank serves a substantial volume, the Sukoon at Rs 1,799 a single room and the Boond at Rs 799 a small one. There is a third factor specific to this kind of home. Penthouses are exposed - high up, heavily glazed and usually with wind on at least two sides. Solar gain through large glazing drives a convection current all afternoon, so the interior reads noticeably stronger at two than at nine on the same setting, and wind through an open door will move fragrance across a room in a direction nothing on the plan predicts. Both argue for a low continuous setting rather than a strong intermittent one, and for setting the level in the warm part of the day rather than in the evening when the household is home and paying attention. And the exposure works on reeds too: a reed near a terrace door in direct sun will empty considerably sooner than one on an internal wall, and will run stronger while it lasts. Keep them inside, shaded and off the glass line. On the rest of the plan, the usual rules hold and penthouses are often simpler than they look. A machine distributes through connected moving air and cannot cross a closed door, so a large open penthouse living volume is one zone with one machine, and every bedroom, bathroom, study and dressing room is its own zone taking a reed at Rs 749 to Rs 849, three to four months a bottle, refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml, roughly Rs 200 to Rs 280 per room per month. One register throughout, varied by intensity, because two registers meet in doorways and the collision reads as something being wrong: Quiet Luxury, with white tea, bergamot and cedar, as the default; Lobby Bar, with citrus, pepper and amber, which suits a penthouse entertaining floor particularly and has enough edge for a large glazed volume; White Tea Serenity, with white tea, aloe and cedar, in bedrooms. The seven Hotel Collection registers are Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, and they are SOSA's own interpretations, since we are independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand. Machines take the water-based Hotel Collection only at three to six drops per tank with a rinse between scents, never reed oil, which can damage them. The exclusions hold: never the kitchen at any time, no fragrance in children's rooms, nothing in staff quarters or utility areas, and the terrace, balcony and any covered outdoor area marked excluded on the drawing rather than left as an open question. Anybody who shares the home and cannot leave it gets a low neutral register and a physical off switch. We make no claim that fragrance affects mood, focus, sleep, stress or wellbeing. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Working the boundary instead
The honest answer first: a terrace cannot be scented, at any size of machine. Outdoor air, open or covered by a pergola or overhang, is not an enclosed volume, so there is nothing to contain fragrance and it disperses as fast as it is produced - a larger unit consumes product at a higher rate to achieve the same nothing. Say that plainly, because it is the request a penthouse client makes most, and a specifier who declines it clearly is believed on everything else. The same applies to covered verandahs, balconies, pergola-covered dining terraces and covered parking. What can be done is the boundary: scent the inside of the threshold, the living volume within a few metres of the terrace doors, so that coming in from outside is a transition and the character is carried by contrast. That works for the same reason an entrance is the highest-value position in a home - somebody arriving from outside has an unadapted nose, and a terrace door is functionally a second front door used many times a day. Place the source inside on hard surface, in air movement but not in the door draught, on a console rather than the floor, on a tray because oil marks stone and timber, and out of direct sun, since a threshold position often has it and heat empties a bottle early. Second, plan for the doors being open: a penthouse that reads correctly sealed and cooled can read as empty with the terrace open, because the interior loses fragrance through the opening and gains outside air. Do not chase that with output, which produces a room that is too strong the moment the door shuts - set for the sealed condition and schedule it, which is why the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 with coverage to 1,000 m² and app and timer control is the usual penthouse machine, with the SOSA Megh at Rs 3,499, SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,799 and SOSA Boond at Rs 799 below it. Third, penthouses are exposed: solar gain through large glazing drives an afternoon current so the interior reads stronger at two than at nine, and wind through an open door moves fragrance in directions no plan predicts - both argue for low and continuous, and for setting the level in the warm part of the day. Reeds near a sunlit terrace door empty early and run stronger meanwhile, so keep them inside, shaded and off the glass line. Otherwise the usual rules: one machine for the open volume, a reed in every closed room at Rs 749 to Rs 849, one register throughout varied by intensity - Quiet Luxury as the default, Lobby Bar for an entertaining floor, White Tea Serenity in bedrooms. Mark the terrace excluded on the drawing. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards. Volume pricing is quoted on WhatsApp.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
