How do I build a multi-site signature-scent standard? In five sections: the register and the rule that it never changes, a zoning method based on doors, the outcome each zone type must produce, ownership and seasonal dates, and an audit method.

Why should a standard not specify settings? Because a setting is an input and the building transforms it. The same number in two buildings gives two different results, so specify the result instead.

What does each site record? Its own page: every zone, its device, its register, the setting that achieved the required outcome, and the date it was set.
The short answer
Short answer: Five sections: register, zoning method, required outcomes, ownership and dates, audit method.
The pick: the SOSA Safar (₹3,999) as the flagship delivery gift; volume gifts from ₹299; reed diffusers from ₹749; the Vaayu (₹11,999) for your own premises.
Planning volumes? WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 - tell us the customer moment, per-unit band and quantity and we will quote and build the programme.
Customer gifting that compounds - the SOSA method at a glanceStep 1 - gift the moment: delivery day, possession, checkout, milestone purchaseStep 2 - set the per-unit band: ₹299 to ₹3,999 by customer valueStep 3 - brand the gesture: your card, your story, our fragranceStep 4 - pilot small, then scale to 50, 100, 500 unitsWhatsApp the bulk desk for volume pricing
A customer gift works when it survives the drive home - sweets vanish in a day and keychains join a drawer, but a fragrance is used daily in the customer's own car or living room, replaying your brand at every use. The method: gift the milestone moment, set the per-unit band by customer value, brand the gesture with your card, pilot and scale. This guide walks the exact play, with real SOSA options at every band.
Straight answer
How do I build a signature-scent standard that can be replicated across multiple spa locations?
Write five sections, and resist the urge to put settings in any of them. A standard that names numbers will be wrong at the second site, because a setting is an input and the building transforms it into an outcome. Section one: the register, and the rule that it never changes - same register in every location, all year, for years, because recognition is built by repetition. Section two: the zoning method. Walk each plan and mark every door that genuinely closes; each enclosure is a zone, since a machine cannot distribute past a shut door. Sort them into wet, wet-adjacent, circulation and destination. Section three: the outcome each zone type must produce - working level at destinations, very low or nothing in circulation, lowest in treatment rooms set lying on the bed, lowest permanently in wet-adjacent spaces, nothing in wet spaces or back-of-house. Section four: ownership - one named person per site, refill intervals, and seasonal dates written as dates. Section five: the audit - monthly, from the street, at the busiest hour, by somebody who does not work in that building. Then each site records its own numbers on its own page. Hotel Collection from ₹299, SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999, SOSA Boond ₹799. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
Quick answer: five sections, and no settings in any of them. Settings live on each site's own page.
The gift most business readers of this guide pilot first: the SOSA Safar - rechargeable waterless car diffuser, three hotel-inspired scents in the box, used by the customer every single day - at ₹3,999 per unit. Volume gifts from ₹299; reeds from ₹749. Or WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 for a bulk quote.

A standard that specifies equipment will fail

The document is the product here, and the single most important decision in writing it is to specify outcomes rather than equipment or numbers. A standard that says every reception runs unit X at setting four will be wrong at the second location, because a setting is an input and what a guest experiences is an output, and the transformation between the two is the building - its volume, its ceiling height, its air exchange, how often its street door opens, whether its surfaces are hard or soft, the local humidity and what the street outside smells like. Feed one number into two buildings and you reliably get two results. Specify the result and let each site find the number. Here is the structure, in five sections, each of which fits on a page. Section one is the register, and the rule attached to it. Name one register for the whole business and state that it does not change - not seasonally, not by location, not by manager preference. Recognition is a function of repetition, so a chain that varies its register has nothing to accumulate. Quiet Luxury, with white tea, bergamot and cedar, is the safest general choice for a multi-site business, because it holds its character at a working level in a reception and at a whisper in a treatment room. White Tea Serenity, with white tea, aloe and cedar, is the softest we make and is the right choice where treatment rooms dominate. Forest Suite, with cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves, is dry and structural and suits an estate built from stone and warm wood. Tea Garden and Warm Welcome are arrival registers, Old-World Glamour belongs in a dark warm reception at a low level, and Lobby Bar suits large circulation. All seven are Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, they are SOSA's own interpretations, and the standard should say that the business is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand - because a claim a branch manager improvises is your problem. Section two is the zoning method, written as a procedure rather than as a floor plan. Walk each site's plan with a pen and mark every door that genuinely closes in normal operation; ignore doors propped open all day, because those are openings and both sides are one zone. Each enclosure is a zone, since a machine distributes through connected moving air and cannot cross a shut door. Then sort the zones into four types: wet spaces, wet-adjacent spaces, circulation, and destinations. That procedure travels to any building, which is exactly what a floor plan cannot do. Section three is the outcome each zone type must produce, and this is the heart of the document. Destinations - reception, lounge, retail - carry the working level, defined as: a person entering from the street at the busiest hour notices a clean, composed air in the first few seconds and could not describe it accurately afterwards. Circulation runs very low or nothing, defined as: a corridor should read as continuous with the destination rather than as its own event, and nobody stops in one. Treatment rooms run the lowest level in the building, defined by posture rather than by dial: the setting is judged lying on the bed for two minutes, not from the doorway, because a guest spends an hour nose-down in still air a few inches from a cradle and nobody else in the building is in that posture. Wet-adjacent spaces - changing areas, corridors past a wet zone, treatment rooms with their own shower - run at the lowest working level permanently rather than seasonally, because they are humid rooms all year. Wet spaces - steam rooms, saunas, shower interiors - are never scented at all. Back-of-house, laundry, linen stores and staff areas get nothing. Write those definitions out; they are what makes the standard replicable. Section four is ownership and timing. One named person per site owns settings, refills and the seasonal adjustment, because a task that belongs to everybody belongs to nobody. Refill intervals go in the document as scheduled tasks rather than as responses to somebody noticing: reeds give three to four months from a bottle, with refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml, and their output rises with warmth and falls with cold, so a bottle in a warm coastal site may not last as long as one in an air-conditioned city site. Seasonal adjustment goes in as real dates, per region rather than for the estate, because monsoon does not arrive everywhere at once: everything comes down through humid months and goes back up when the air dries, since humid air carries fragrance more slowly and clears it less readily. And specify a single dosing figure rather than repeating the range, because our guidance of three to six drops per tank is a usable range and a range is a source of variance across sites; pick one number and write it. Never reed oil in a machine - it can damage it - and rinse the tank when changing register. Section five is the audit, which is what keeps the other four honest. Monthly at each site: somebody who does not work in that building enters from the street at the busiest hour and reads the first few seconds in each space, moving inwards. For a chain, the free and effective version is branch managers auditing each other - they know the standard, they have not adapted to that particular building, and it costs nothing. Never accept a report from staff working in the building being assessed: everybody who works in a spa adapts to a steady background within about an hour of arriving and stops perceiving it, and adaptation is asymmetric, so a level never seems to have grown, only to have gone. That is why levels ratchet upward across an estate at different rates, and why the standard needs the audit clause more than it needs any equipment clause. Alongside the five sections, each site keeps its own page: every zone, its device, its register, the setting that produced the required outcome, and the date it was set. Head office holds all the pages. That is what converts fragrance from folklore into something auditable, and it is what makes opening the fifth branch a matter of following a method rather than remembering what somebody did at the second. Two clauses worth adding that are not about fragrance and will save you the most trouble. The first is the order of work when a site reports a smell problem: ventilation, moisture control, laundry, then fragrance - fragrance is fourth. It combines with an existing smell rather than masking it, the combination is worse than either alone, and it carries the added message that somebody knew and chose to cover it. A manager who has read that clause investigates rather than turning something up. The second is a new-site clause: set from scratch by the method, never by copying another site's numbers, and do not scent a new fit-out before ventilation, moisture and laundry are working and the building has settled. On hardware, the standard should name types by condition rather than by site: a large open reception or lounge takes a Vaayu at Rs 11,999 - waterless with no tank at all, coverage up to 1,000 square metres or roughly 10,700 square feet, with Bluetooth app and timer control, which also lets head office verify a setting rather than trust a report; a substantial reception takes a Megh at Rs 3,499 with its 6L tank; a compact reception or changing area takes a Sukoon at Rs 1,799; a treatment room takes a reed at Rs 749 to Rs 849 or a Boond at Rs 799 where a switch is wanted. Keep the switch: anybody who works in a treatment room should have a physical off switch and never have to justify using it. We make no therapeutic, medical or wellness claims of any kind, and SOSA ambient fragrance is for the air of a room only - never for skin, never in massage oil, and never added to masks, facial preparations or any treatment product; put that in the standard too, so no branch improvises it. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Volume pricing across an estate is quoted against the specification on WhatsApp.

Why this works
The five sections
1 The register, and the rule that it never changes 2 The zoning method, drawn from doors 3 The outcome each zone type must produce 4 Ownership, seasonal dates and the audit method
The flagship delivery gift: the SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 - a rechargeable waterless car diffuser with three hotel-inspired scents in the box. Per-unit gifts from ₹299; volume pricing on WhatsApp.
01
Sections one and two
The register, and a zoning procedure
One register that never changes, because recognition is repetition. Then a method rather than a plan: walk each site, mark the doors that close, and sort the enclosures into wet, wet-adjacent, circulation and destination.
Tip: A procedure travels to any building. A floor plan does not.
02
Section three is the heart
Define the outcome, not the number
Destinations: noticed in the first seconds, indescribable afterwards. Circulation: continuous rather than its own event. Treatment rooms: judged lying on the bed. Wet-adjacent: lowest, permanently. Wet: nothing.
03
Sections four and five
Ownership and dates, then the audit
One named owner per site, refill intervals as scheduled tasks, seasonal dates per region, and a single dosing figure rather than a range. Then a monthly walk-in by somebody who does not work there.
Tip: Branch managers auditing each other is free and unadapted.
The SOSA principle
A standard that names settings will be wrong at the second site.
Name outcomes, and let each building find its own numbers.

Write one that specifies outcomes, in five sections

The document is the product, and the key decision is to specify outcomes rather than equipment or numbers - a standard saying every reception runs unit X at setting four will be wrong at the second location, because a setting is an input and the building transforms it into an outcome. Five sections, a page each. One: the register and the rule that it never changes, not seasonally, not by location, not by manager preference, because recognition is repetition. Quiet Luxury is the safest for a multi-site business since it holds character at a working level and at a whisper; White Tea Serenity is the softest where rooms dominate; Forest Suite is driest for stone and warm wood. Two: the zoning method, written as a procedure rather than a plan - walk each site, mark every door that genuinely closes, ignore propped ones, treat each enclosure as a zone since a machine cannot cross a shut door, and sort them into wet, wet-adjacent, circulation and destination. A procedure travels to any building; a floor plan does not. Three, the heart: the outcome each zone type must produce. Destinations noticed in the first few seconds and indescribable afterwards. Circulation continuous rather than its own event, since nobody stops in a corridor. Treatment rooms judged lying on the bed for two minutes rather than from the doorway, because a guest is nose-down in still air for an hour and nobody else in the building is. Wet-adjacent spaces lowest permanently rather than seasonally. Wet spaces and back-of-house nothing at all. Four: ownership and timing - one named person per site, refill intervals as scheduled tasks rather than responses to somebody noticing, seasonal dates written per region since monsoon does not arrive everywhere at once, and a single dosing figure rather than the three-to-six range, since a range is a source of variance across sites. Never reed oil in a machine, and rinse when changing register. Five: the audit that keeps the rest honest - monthly, from the street, at the busiest hour, by somebody who does not work in that building, with branch managers auditing each other as the free and unadapted version. Never accept a report from staff inside, since everybody adapts within an hour and adaptation only runs one way. Each site then keeps its own page of zones, devices, settings and dates, with head office holding all of them. Add two clauses: the order of work is ventilation, moisture, laundry, then fragrance; and a new site is set from scratch by the method, never by copying numbers. From Rs 299 for 15ml. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards.

The SOSA business gifting edit

Whatever your business gifts, the logic is the same: gift the milestone moment, set the per-unit band by customer value, keep the register gentle and crowd-safe, and brand the gesture with your card rather than your logo on the product. Every SOSA fragrance is alcohol-free and made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so every customer gift quietly gives twice. Here is the full business range by per-unit band.

Honest notes for business gifters: customer taste varies, so volume programmes should run gentle, crowd-tested registers - fresh, clean and lightly floral scents are received well across every profile, and space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) avoid the personal-taste risk of skin perfume entirely. Listed prices are per-unit store prices; volume pricing, pilot batches, branded cards and custom hamper builds are quoted on WhatsApp - and signature-scent development for your brand is a consultation with our perfumer, not an off-the-shelf item, so timelines are discussed case by case. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with any hotel brand. Ultrasonic diffusers use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance; reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil - the two are not interchangeable. All personal fragrances are alcohol-free and IFRA-compliant. WhatsApp bulk desk: +91 96192 18531. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Versailles
A note from Sonal

Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.

I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.

And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.

Editorial standards & sources
About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the customer-gifting advice applies whatever your business finally buys.

Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer). Listed prices are per-unit store prices; volume pricing and branding are quoted on WhatsApp. The Hotel Collection and hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel or perfume house named for comparison.
