By style: The Ritz-Carlton-inspired Quiet Luxury for modern luxury and hotel beige · Four Seasons-inspired Warm Welcome for cozy neutrals · 1 Hotels-inspired Forest Suite for Japandi and dark · The St. Regis-inspired Old-World Glamour for romantic.
The three questions: how textiled, what register, how you sleep. The first sets the dose, the second the scent, the third the running time.
2. Then take the register from the aesthetic. Cool and pale wants white tea; polished and hard-finished wants Quiet Luxury; creamy and layered wants Warm Welcome; dry, green and timbered wants Forest Suite; plush and powdery wants Old-World Glamour.
3. Then set the running time from how you sleep. Door shut and AC on means a sealed box: thirty to sixty minutes before bed and off. Window open or fan on means the room clears by two, so run it later rather than longer.
4. Take a notch off whatever the rest of the house takes. This is the law that runs through every article in the series. A bedroom always uses less than the same style would elsewhere, because the textiles store what you add and hand it back all night.
5. Put it on a tray. Ultrasonic mist is water, and the obvious place for a bedroom diffuser is a wooden nightstand. A ceramic dish or metal tray costs nothing and prevents a mark that does not come out.

The three questions that replace eight articles
Most bedroom fragrance advice is a list of pairings, and lists stop working the moment your room is not one of the examples. Three questions travel. The first is how much soft material the room contains, and the reason it comes first is that it sets the number before anything else can — a bedroom is already the most heavily textiled room in most homes, and the difference between a layered one and a bare one is a factor of three in the dose. The second is what register the aesthetic is written in: not its colour but its temperature and its loudness — cool, clean, dry, creamy or plush. That decides which of the seven you buy. The third is how you sleep, because a closed, air-conditioned room and a room with an open window behave nothing alike, and that decides how long you run the machine. Dose, then scent, then duration.
The order matters more than people expect, and almost everybody gets it backwards — they choose a scent first, buy 300ml of it, and then try to make a room accept it. Start with the textiles and the number is settled before taste enters the conversation; then the aesthetic gives you character within a known budget; then the ventilation gives you a routine rather than a habit of leaving something on. Underneath all three sits the observation that makes bedrooms different from every other room in this cluster: a bedroom is the room where over-dosing is both easiest and least forgiving, because you are unconscious for most of the exposure and the textiles you are lying on store what you put in the air and give it back for hours. Whatever the aesthetic, the answer is a notch lower than the same style would take in a living room.
The three decisions in any bedroom
Hotel CollectionFrom ₹299Walk the room and add it up: mattress and bedding, headboard, curtains, rugs, throws, a bench or chair. Fully layered — wool rug, floor-length curtains, upholstered headboard, heavy duvet — is one drop on a Sukoon, and that room will still smell of it the next afternoon; the argument is worked through in the cozy neutral bedroom piece. An ordinary bedroom is two. A genuinely hard one — stone or tile, blinds, timber headboard, no rug — is three, and even that is lower than the same materials would take in a living room. All seven, by bedroom style
Every scent in the collection against the bedroom it actually belongs in. Five have a real place beside a bed and two do not. The Pack of 7 at ₹1,799 puts all of them in front of your own room, which beats any table, including this one.

Dose, timing, and a caution about the nightstand
The dose table in one paragraph. Heavily layered bedroom of any style: one drop on a Sukoon, or one on a Boond (₹899, up to 150 sq ft) in a small room. Ordinary bedroom with a rug and curtains: two. Hard-surfaced bedroom with blinds, tile or stone and a timber headboard: three. Take a further drop off if you have chosen a rich amber, because tenacious materials need less to register. And judge the result the following morning rather than during the run — the morning is when the stored fragrance is doing the talking.
The clock is the same in every style. Thirty to sixty minutes before bed on the timer and off; or an evening session ending well before sleep if the scent is rich; or, if the bedroom is used through the day, a short afternoon run and no bedtime run at all. Never overnight. Stand the machine on the far side of the room from the pillows, about a metre up, out of the throw of the air conditioning and away from curtains — repeated settling on fabric produces a patch that smells stronger than the room.
The caution applies to every bedroom in this guide and it has a very specific address. Ultrasonic mist is water, and water settles. The obvious place for a small diffuser is the nightstand, and nightstands are oak, walnut, mango, ash or veneer — sealed or not, settling mist will bloom the finish, raise the grain or eventually leave a ring, and the mark does not come out. Stand the unit on a ceramic dish, slate coaster or metal tray, and do not aim the nozzle at bedding, a leather or upholstered headboard, or artwork. In hard-water cities use filtered water: the mineral dust shows on dark timber and on white linen alike.
What to buy
Machines are arithmetic: one per bedroom, a Boond under 150 sq ft and a Sukoon above it. The fragrance is the decision, and testers are how you make it cheaply.

Versailles
I wrote this series because the same conversation kept repeating in different bedrooms. Somebody has spent a year choosing linen, joinery, lighting and paint, and then buys a fragrance in ninety seconds because a bottle looked right. The room was considered. The air in it was not.
What I would most like you to take from the whole set is the order of the questions. Textiles, then style, then how you sleep. Almost everybody does it backwards and then spends a fortnight trying to make an expensive bottle behave in a room that was never going to accept it. The number is not a matter of taste; it is a property of the room.
Then be conservative, because this is the room that punishes generosity. One or two drops, half an hour before bed, off before you sleep, a tray under the machine. And buy a 15ml at ₹299 before any bottle — your own bedding and your own mornings will settle it faster than I can from Pune. A portion of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
