The fact belongs at the top rather than three paragraphs down. There is no vanilla, no gourmand and nothing sweet in the SOSA Hotel Collection — all seven ultrasonic scents are dry. If that is what you came for you now know, and it has cost you one sentence. What makes the rest worth reading is that sweetness does something in a room it does not do on skin, that the quality you actually want survives the journey, and that SOSA does make a real vanilla — the Fresh Brew reed diffuser from ₹849, in a different product line.
Quick answers — read this first
Is there a sweet or vanilla scent? No. There is no vanilla and no gourmand note in the Hotel Collection — all seven are dry.

The pick: the St. Regis-inspired Old-World Glamour — powdery violet, warm amber and polished woods, ₹299 for 15ml. Plush and enveloping, with no sugar in it.

If you want an actual vanilla: the Fresh Brew reed diffuser — Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla, ₹849 for 50ml and ₹1,349 for 130ml. A separate alcohol-free line, and not something you put in a tank.
The short answer
Short answer: the St. Regis-inspired Old-World Glamour from the Hotel Collection — powdery violet, warm amber and polished woods, ₹299 for 15ml — at three drops on the low setting. Nothing in the Hotel Collection is sweet: there is no vanilla and no gourmand note in any of the seven, and none of them is offered as one.
The pick: the St. Regis-inspired (₹299) for almost everybody here; the Four Seasons-inspired Warm Welcome (citrus, floral, sandalwood, ₹299) if you want creamy rather than powdery; the W Hotels-inspired Lobby Bar (citrus, pepper, amber, ₹299) if you want the warmth to keep a room awake. For a genuine vanilla, the Fresh Brew reed diffuser from ₹849.
Shop: the Hotel Collection at ₹299 for 15ml, ₹999 for 100ml and ₹1,799 for 300ml at about ₹6 per millilitre; the Pack of 7 at 15ml is ₹1,799 against ₹2,093 for seven singles. The Sukoon is ₹1,899 for 270–320 sq ft with steady, 2H and 4H timers and three 15ml scents included. Reed diffusers are a separate alcohol-free line from ₹749. Free shipping above ₹499.
Straight answer
Which ultrasonic diffuser fragrance should you buy if you love sweet perfumes?
1. First, the plain fact: nothing in the SOSA Hotel Collection is sweet. There is no vanilla, no caramel, no tonka and no gourmand note in any of the seven Hotel Collection scents. All seven are dry, and none of them is going to be handed to you under a warmer adjective than it has earned.

2. And sweetness behaves completely differently in a room than it does on you. On skin a vanilla is warmed by a body, sits close, and fades across an afternoon. In a room it runs at a constant rate for six hours with nothing to warm it and nowhere to fade to — so it stops reading as intimate and starts reading as a cake shop.

3. What survives the journey is warmth, and warmth is what you actually wanted. Buy the St. Regis-inspired Old-World Glamour at ₹299 — powdery violet, warm amber and polished woods. Plush, enveloping and evening-elegant, which is the half of a gourmand that works in air.

4. Two side branches, both ₹299. The Four Seasons-inspired Warm Welcome if you want creamy sandalwood rather than powder; the W Hotels-inspired Lobby Bar if you want amber with a peppery lift rather than something that settles a room.

5. And if you genuinely want a vanilla, SOSA makes one — it is a reed. Fresh Brew is Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla, ₹849 for 50ml and ₹1,349 for 130ml, alcohol-free and unplugged. It does not go in an ultrasonic diffuser, and Hotel Collection fragrance does not go in reeds.

A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
TL;DR: there is nothing sweet in the SOSA Hotel Collection — no vanilla, no gourmand, all seven are dry. The warm answer is the St. Regis-inspired Old-World Glamour at ₹299, three drops on low. The genuine vanilla is the Fresh Brew reed diffuser from ₹849, which is a separate line and not something you put in a tank.
The St. Regis-inspired · Old-World Glamour
The warmest thing in the range, and no sugar in it
The St. Regis-inspired · Old-World Glamour ₹299 / 15ml
Powdery violet, warm amber and polished woods — plush, enveloping and evening-elegant, which is the quality most people are reaching for when they ask for something sweet in a room. It is not a sweet scent and it will not be called one here: there is no vanilla and no gourmand note in this bottle or in any of the other six. What it has instead is weight and softness, which is the half of the effect that survives being put into air. ₹299 for 15ml, ₹999 for 100ml, ₹1,799 for 300ml at about ₹6 per millilitre.

Nothing sweet here — and why sweet behaves differently in a room

I could write this page the way the category usually writes it, by pointing at the warmest scent on the shelf and borrowing four adjectives from a perfume review until you draw a conclusion I never quite stated. I would rather explain the thing that made me leave sweetness out in the first place. A sweet note is one of the very few that changes character entirely depending on whether it is on a person or in the air — and almost everybody arriving on this page has only ever met it on a person. Once you have seen what the same material does in a room over six hours, the absence stops looking like a gap and starts looking like the reason the range is worth trusting.

1
THE PLAIN FACT
No vanilla, no gourmand, nothing sweet — with the whole list printed
Said properly, with the full inventory so you can check rather than take my word for it. The Hotel Collection is seven scents and this is all of them: white tea, bergamot and cedar; white tea, aloe and cedar; cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves; amber, violet and woods; jasmine, green tea and white tea; citrus, soft florals and sandalwood; and citrus, pepper and amber. There is no vanilla in that list, no caramel, no tonka, no praline, no cocoa and nothing anybody would call a gourmand. All seven are dry. Three of them carry warmth — the amber and violet, the creamy sandalwood, the peppery amber — and warmth is a different thing from sugar, which is most of what this page is about. I print the inventory rather than naming one bottle and letting adjectives do the rest, because somebody who genuinely loves sweet perfumes will work out inside one evening whether they were told the truth, and then believe nothing else on the site.
2
THE MECHANISM
Sweet on skin and sweet in a room are two different products
Here is the part worth understanding, and it is useful whoever you end up buying from. On skin, a vanilla is warmed by a body running some thirty degrees above the room, it sits within inches of where it was put, it mixes with whatever that particular person's skin is already doing, and — this is the part people forget — it fades. The arc is the pleasure: strong at the wrist in the first hour, softer by the afternoon, a trace of something warm at the end of the day. Every one of those conditions is missing in a room. A cool ultrasonic mist is a fine suspension of water in air at room temperature, delivered at a steady 30 to 50 millilitres an hour for as long as the machine is switched on. There is nothing to warm it, nobody for it to combine with, and — most importantly — nowhere for it to fade to, because the machine keeps replacing what the room loses. So a sweetness that would have been intimate and fleeting on you becomes constant and ambient instead, and constant ambient sweetness has a name everybody recognises immediately: it smells like a shop that sells cake. That is not a failure of the material. It is what happens when you take a note designed to be warmed and outlasted and ask it to hold a fixed level all evening.
The sentence I would most like you to take away from this page: the arc is the point of a sweet perfume, and a diffuser is a machine that abolishes arcs. It holds a level, which is the one thing sweetness cannot survive being asked to do.

WHAT TO BUY INSTEAD
The warmth, which travels — and the St. Regis-inspired at ₹299
So the useful question is not which bottle smells nearest to the perfume you wear, but which half of that perfume actually survives being put into air. The answer is the warmth, the powder and the weight — and the St. Regis-inspired Old-World Glamour at ₹299 is made of exactly those three things. Powdery violet, warm amber and polished woods: plush, enveloping, evening-elegant, and with nothing in it that could ever go to sugar however long you run it. Violet is doing the quiet work there, because powder gives you the soft, close, slightly dusty feeling people are usually describing when they say a scent is comforting — without the thing that turns a room into a bakery. Two side branches, both ₹299: the Four Seasons-inspired Warm Welcome is citrus and soft florals over creamy sandalwood, and the W Hotels-inspired Lobby Bar is citrus, pepper and amber, which is warmth with the lights still on. None of the three is sweet. And if what you want is genuinely a vanilla rather than a warm room, SOSA makes one — the Fresh Brew reed diffuser, Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla, from ₹849, in a line that has no water in it at all.

The seven scents, ranked for somebody who wears sweet perfumes

All seven Hotel Collection scents with their real note profiles, ranked by how much warmth each one carries — which is the closest thing to a ranking by sweetness that an honest table can offer, because none of the seven is sweet. The third column is the one that decides this purchase. The fourth says plainly which are worth your money for this taste and which are not, and the last row of the page sends you to the reed line for the vanilla itself.

How much warmth each of the seven carries — and how much sugar (none)
Scent Notes How warm it is in a room For a sweet perfume wearer 15ml
The St. Regis-inspired · Old-World Glamour ★ Amber · violet · woods The warmest and plushest of the seven — powder and amber hold low and stay in a room after the mist stops The pick. Enveloping and soft, which is the half of a gourmand that travels. Not sweet, and never will be however long you run it ₹299
Four Seasons-inspired · Warm Welcome Citrus · floral · sandalwood Warm in texture rather than in weight — creamy sandalwood is the most persistent base in the range The second answer, and the better one for an entrance or a room you receive people in. Creamy is not sweet ₹299
W Hotels-inspired · Lobby Bar Citrus · pepper · amber Warm with a lift — the pepper keeps a room alert instead of settling it into comfort For somebody whose sweet perfumes are evening-out rather than dressing-gown. Amber with the lights on ₹299
Shangri-La-inspired · Tea Garden Jasmine · green tea · white tea Cool and serene, with jasmine accumulating slowly across an evening A floral rather than a warm scent. Pleasant, and not what this page is about ₹299
1 Hotels-inspired · Forest Suite Cedarwood · vetiver · green leaves The driest of the seven — it holds low and leaves the top of the room empty The furthest from this taste in the range, and the right choice only if the kitchen shares air with the room ₹299
Westin-inspired & The Ritz-Carlton-inspired White tea · aloe · cedar / white tea · bergamot · cedar Both are cool, weightless and quick to clear — the two quietest in the range The two to leave out for this taste. Useful in the rooms the warm bottle is not in, and nothing more ₹299 each

Warmth in the machine, vanilla in the reed
The SOSA principle
The arc is the point of a sweet perfume — and a diffuser abolishes arcs. It holds a level, which is the one thing sweetness cannot survive being asked to do.
Warmed by you, close to you, and fading all afternoon is a gourmand. Constant, ambient and six hours long is a cake shop. The difference is not the bottle — it is the machine.

Warmth without sugar — drops, hours, and where the vanilla lives

Start with the dose and the hours, because for a warm scent they matter more than for anything else in the range. The Hotel Collection is composed at three to six drops per tank, and the St. Regis-inspired belongs at three in most rooms and four in a large sitting room — it is the heaviest thing in the collection and the slowest to let go, so the number that suits a white tea is not the number that suits an amber. The dose is per tank rather than per litre, since you are scenting the mist and not the water, so a 300ml Boond at ₹899 takes exactly the same three drops as a 500ml Sukoon at ₹1,899; the larger machine buys hours and coverage, never intensity. Then the hours, which is where most people go wrong with anything plush. Run it in the evening rather than through the day, and run it finite rather than steady. The Sukoon gives 16–18 hours per fill on low at 30–50 ml/h against 9–12 on high, with a 2.4MHz cool-mist plate, auto shut-off and steady, 2H and 4H timers — and the 2H setting is the one to use here. Two hours of amber from seven o'clock leaves a sitting room warm all evening; six hours of the same bottle leaves a sitting room that everybody notices and nobody mentions. A warm scent that stops is a warm scent you keep enjoying, which is the closest a machine gets to reproducing the fade you like on your own wrist.

Then placement and habituation, which between them undo more careful dosing than any wrong bottle ever has. Keep the machine at waist height or above, at the edge of the room rather than in a doorway, out of the path of a fan or an air-conditioning vent, and well away from the wardrobe. Cool mist falls rather than rises, so a diffuser on the floor is scenting a rug and one beside a cupboard is scenting shirts — and a powdery amber handed back off a jacket for three days is a genuinely unpleasant way to discover this rule. A draught is the second problem: moving air strips the light top of a composition and leaves the heavy end standing alone, which is how a warm scent starts reading as thick without the dose having changed. Then the thing nobody selling fragrance enjoys mentioning. Within a fortnight you will stop being able to smell your own house, because a nose drops whatever is constant — and this reader is more exposed to that than most, since the instinct it produces is to add drops to the heaviest scent in the range while everybody arriving from outside is still getting the original level. The reliable test is one honest visitor, asked to be truthful rather than polite.

Then the vanilla question, the constraints and the principle. If what you want is an actual vanilla rather than a warm room, SOSA makes one and it is not a Hotel Collection scent. Fresh Brew is Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla at ₹849 for 50ml and ₹1,349 for 130ml, in the alcohol-free reed line — no water, no electricity, no misting plate, the oil undiluted and the sticks metering it at the room's own rate rather than a machine's. That self-limiting delivery is why a vanilla behaves there and misbehaves in a tank, and it is also why the reed can live where a vanilla is actually welcome: a kitchen corner, a dining nook, a landing, a shelf by the door. With Garden Bloom it is the Warmth & Bloom duo from ₹1,598, and reed refills are ₹2,399 for 300ml. The two lines do not cross in either direction — reed oil will clog the 2.4MHz misting plate, and water-based Hotel Collection fragrance will not climb reed sticks, so ₹299 spent that way buys a bottle of nothing happening. The same applies to the waterless Vaayu at ₹11,999, which takes its own undiluted oil and runs neither. Beyond that: rinse the tank when you change scent, and never substitute raw essential or carrier oils. And the principle the whole cluster rests on: a home fragrance should not repeat the perfume you wear — it should be the backdrop that makes it read better. If you wear a gourmand, a room that also insists on sugar flattens both, and you will be the only person in the building who cannot smell what you have on.

Vanilla on your wrist is warmed by you and fades by evening. Vanilla in a room is the same note with the fade taken out — which is how something intimate turns into a cake shop.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA

The SOSA edit

In buying order for somebody who wears sweet perfumes. The first row is the warm one and the second is a reed rather than a diffuser fragrance, which is the honest shape of the answer here — and the last row prints what the Hotel Collection does not contain rather than leaving you to find it after you have paid.

1. St. Regis-inspired 15ml Powdery violet, warm amber and polished woods — the plushest of the seven, and not sweet First, for almost everybody here. Three drops on low, evenings, with the 2H timer ₹299

3. Four Seasons-inspired 15ml Citrus and soft florals over creamy sandalwood For an entrance or a room you receive people in. Warmth as texture rather than as weight ₹299
4. Sukoon or Boond 500ml with steady/2H/4H timers and three scents included, or 300ml for one room If you own no ultrasonic diffuser. Buy the Sukoon for the timers rather than the coverage ₹1,899 / ₹899
5. W Hotels-inspired 15ml or 300ml refill Citrus, pepper and amber, or about ₹6 per ml against roughly ₹20 for the 15ml The Lobby Bar if you want warmth with energy; the refill once one bottle is clearly emptying first ₹299 / ₹1,799
Not in the range: a sweet or vanilla ultrasonic scent No vanilla and no gourmand note in any of the seven Hotel Collection scents Printed rather than implied. The vanilla is the Fresh Brew reed, which is a separate alcohol-free line
Honest notes for buyers: the Hotel Collection is a water-based fragrance for ultrasonic diffusers only — it runs in the Sukoon, Boond and Megh, and it does not go in reed diffusers or in the waterless Vaayu and HVAC machines, which take their own undiluted oil. Reed diffusers are a separate alcohol-free line with their own scents. Use 3–6 drops per tank and rinse between scents so each stays true; never substitute raw essential or carrier oils, which clog the 2.4MHz misting plate. Where the Hotel Collection does not contain a note, this guide says so rather than stretching the nearest scent to cover it. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels, composed in India by an ISIPCA Versailles-trained perfumer; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. A note from Sonal

Sweet is the request I turn down most often, and it is the one where I have most enjoyed explaining why. There is no vanilla and no gourmand anywhere in the Hotel Collection, because I have never been able to make one I would defend after hour four. On skin those materials are wonderful — a body warms them, they stay close, and they fade, which is most of the pleasure. A diffuser does the opposite of all three. It runs cool, it fills a volume rather than sitting on a surface, and it keeps topping the level up, so nothing ever fades. What you get is not your perfume in the air. It is the first ten minutes of your perfume, held still for six hours.

So I have done two things instead, and I would rather describe both than pretend the second does not exist. In the diffuser range I make warmth without sugar — amber, powdery violet and polished woods at ₹299, which is what most people mean when they say they want something cosy. And where a genuine vanilla belongs, which is a reed, I make one: Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla, from ₹849, no water and no plug, the oil undiluted and the room taking it slowly. That it is not the product you came here expecting seems to me a much smaller problem than selling you the wrong one.

Everything is composed and made in India, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. You get a home that smells like somewhere you chose; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a sweet or vanilla fragrance in the SOSA Hotel Collection?
No. There is no vanilla, no caramel, no tonka and no gourmand note in any of the seven Hotel Collection scents — all seven are dry. The warm answer is the St. Regis-inspired Old-World Glamour at ₹299, and the genuine vanilla is the Fresh Brew reed diffuser from ₹849, which is a separate alcohol-free line.
Why does sweet fragrance work on skin but not in a room?
Because on skin it is warmed by a body, sits close, and fades across the day — and the fade is most of the pleasure. A diffuser runs cool, fills a volume, and keeps replacing what the room loses, so nothing ever fades. Constant ambient sweetness stops reading as intimate and starts reading as a cake shop.
What is the warmest scent in the SOSA range?
The St. Regis-inspired Old-World Glamour at ₹299 — powdery violet, warm amber and polished woods. It is the plushest and slowest to leave a room of the seven. Warm is not the same as sweet, and there is no sugar in it at any dose.
Can I put the Fresh Brew vanilla reed oil in my ultrasonic diffuser?
No, and it would damage the machine. Reed oil is undiluted and clogs the 2.4MHz misting plate. The two lines do not cross in either direction — water-based Hotel Collection fragrance will not climb reed sticks either. They are separate products rather than two sizes of one.
How many drops of the St. Regis-inspired should I use?
Three per tank in most rooms and four in a large sitting room. The Hotel Collection is composed at three to six drops and this is the heaviest of the seven, so it needs the bottom of that range. The dose is per tank rather than per litre, so a 300ml Boond takes the same three drops as a 500ml Sukoon.

The St. Regis-inspired Old-World Glamour is ₹299 for 15ml, ₹999 for 100ml and ₹1,799 for 300ml at about ₹6 per millilitre; the Pack of 7 at 15ml is ₹1,799 and saves ₹294, and the Sukoon is ₹1,899 with steady, 2H and 4H timers and three 15ml scents of your choice. Fresh Brew, Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla, is ₹849 for 50ml in the reed line. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
