An air-conditioner experience centre is the only shop I know where every product on display is a fan. Twenty split units on a wall, six cassettes in the ceiling, a floor-standing tower in the corner, and at any moment half of them are running for a visitor. The merchandise moves the air, and any fragrance plan that does not start from that fact will spend its life being turned up.
Quick answers — read this first
What is the best fragrance for a premium air-conditioner experience centre? A dry cedar, sage and tea register - Mountain Breeze in the SOSA range - or a clean lemon and mint on a white, cool-lit floor, held low and placed where the demonstration units are not blowing. The register matters less here than on any other appliance floor; placement matters more, because a running display AC pulls the fragrance out of its zone and pushes it toward the returns within minutes.
Why does the fragrance disappear near the demo units? Because the units are doing what they are sold to do. A split unit on demonstration moves several hundred cubic metres of air an hour through its own zone; a cassette in the ceiling pulls from below and pushes sideways. Any fragrance in that path is carried away, diluted and returned to the plant. That is not a fault and it is not a strength problem. The source goes on the far wall from the demo bank, high, where the building's own supply crosses the sales floor, and the zone in front of a running unit is accepted as smelling of nothing.
What does the honest installation look like? From about 1,500 sq ft of connected floor, one SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 - waterless, so it adds no moisture and leaves no residue, with a wall or HVAC mount so the source sits on the wall you choose rather than at the nearest socket, a timer and a key-lock so nobody compensates by turning it up. Under about 750 sq ft, one Mountain Breeze reed at Rs 849 at the desk. Past about 3,000 sq ft, one SOSA Angaan at Rs 25,999. An interiors decision like lighting or music - SOSA makes no claim that it changes footfall, dwell time or sales, and no claim about what it does to any unit.
The short answer
Short answer: a dry cedar-and-tea register held low, placed on the far wall from the demonstration units. Display ACs on demo move air constantly and pull any fragrance out of their own zone; that is the product working, and the answer is placement, never a higher setting.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) wall-mounted on the supply side, away from the demo bank, for a connected floor of roughly 1,500-3,000 sq ft; one Mountain Breeze reed (₹849) at the desk for a studio; one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) past about 3,000 sq ft.
Next step: send a floor plan with the demo bank, the units that run during the day and the building's own supply and return marked, and we will place it honestly - ask for a showroom scenting plan.
On an AC floor the placement is the whole plan. The register is chosen to survive moving air, and the setting is never raised to fight a demonstration.

What is the best fragrance for a premium air-conditioner experience centre?
A dry one, placed correctly, and on this floor the second half of that sentence is worth more than the first. Let me take the register quickly and then spend the answer where it belongs. The register is the same well-kept-home family as every good appliance showroom: dry cedar, sage, a little tea, a clean mineral note - Mountain Breeze in the SOSA range - on a floor of dark panels, walnut and stone, and a clean lemon and mint - Morning Freshness - on a white, cool-lit floor of matte units and glass. Dry, because dry notes survive being thinned by moving air where sweet or amber notes turn into a faint syrup; and low, because an AC centre is a hard-surfaced room like any electronics floor. Now the fact that makes this page different from every other in the cluster. An air-conditioner experience centre is a room full of running fans. A split unit on demonstration moves several hundred cubic metres of air an hour through its own zone. A ceiling cassette pulls from below and throws sideways in four directions. A floor-standing tower on demo throws a column of air across an aisle. A display of air purifiers - and many AC centres carry them - pulls the air of its zone through a filter and hands it back with the fragrance removed, because removing things from air is what an air purifier is for. Every one of those units is doing exactly what it is sold to do, and every one of them will take any fragrance in its path, thin it, carry it to the nearest return and hand it to the building's plant. The zone in front of a running demo unit will smell of nothing, and it should. That is the demonstration working. The mistake, and I see it on almost every AC floor I visit, is to read that as a strength problem and turn the machine up. It never works. The demo units keep stripping their own zone at any setting, and the rest of the floor - the desk, the entrance, the advisor who stands there nine hours - gets the higher setting in full. So the plan is placement, and it has three parts. First, the source goes on the far wall from the demonstration bank, high, on the wall the building's own supply crosses, so that the register is carried across the sales floor before any demo unit gets a chance at it. Second, it goes away from the returns, because a source near a return is a source feeding the plant. Third, it is set for the far point of the floor with the demo units running, not for a quiet Sunday with everything off - which is when the level test in strong in one zone and weak in another is run. Why the fragrance disappears when the AC is running is the diagnostic for the same physics on an ordinary floor; here it is the whole floor. A wall or HVAC mount is what makes the far wall a choice rather than the nearest socket, and that is the feature the SOSA Vaayu is bought for on an AC floor: one unit at ₹11,999 from about 1,500 sq ft of connected floor, waterless so it adds no moisture to a room full of coils and leaves no residue, on a 1h/4h/8h/24h timer, with adjustable intensity and a key-lock so that nobody on a Tuesday afternoon decides the demo bank needs compensating for. Under about 750 sq ft a Mountain Breeze reed at the desk; past about 3,000 sq ft one SOSA Angaan at ₹25,999, HVAC-connected if the plant serves the sales floor alone, never two Vaayus in one air. And the sentence every page carries: fragrance is an interiors decision like lighting or music. SOSA makes no claim that it changes footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, no claim about what it does to any air-conditioner, coil, filter or finish on display, and it is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or extraction. Any demo or tasting zone stays unscented. Ask for a showroom scenting plan and mark which units run during the day.
Dry cedar and tea (Mountain Breeze) or lemon-mint on a white floor, held low - but placement is the whole plan: display ACs on demo strip fragrance from their own zone, so the source goes on the far wall, high, where the supply crosses, and the setting is never raised to compensate. Vaayu (Rs 11,999) wall-mounted from about 1,500 sq ft.
For a floor where the merchandise moves the air, one SOSA Vaayu - waterless, wall or HVAC mount, timer and key-lock - at ₹11,999 is placed once on the right wall and left alone.
Two honest answers by connected floor area. On this floor the machine is bought for its mount options before anything else. The images link to the product pages so every figure can be checked.
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ - about 2,000-3,000 sq ft - on one unit, Rs 11,999. Wall or HVAC mount, which on an AC floor is the feature that matters: the source sits on the far wall from the demo bank, high, where the building's supply crosses. No water, so no moisture added to a room full of coils and no residue; 1h/4h/8h/24h timer; adjustable intensity set for the far point with the demos running; key-lock so nobody compensates; under 38dB.
Himalayan pine, sage and Indian cedar - dry enough to survive moving air, and the register that reads as a home against dark panels. Alcohol-free, six fibre reeds, flip weekly. 50ml Rs 849 lasts 6-8 weeks; 130ml Rs 1,349 lasts 14-18 weeks. Reaches one desk zone - keep it away from the demo wall or it will reach nothing.
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft) on a single unit, Rs 11,999, adjustable intensity, 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, key-lock. Freestanding, wall-mount or HVAC-mount, so the source sits on the supply side away from the demonstration bank. CE, RoHS, SGS certified. Made in India.
Five cards, and every one is about air. On an AC floor the fragrance is the passenger; the units, the building's plant and the door are the drivers, and the plan is written around them.
1
The demo bank
A running split unit strips its own zone - that is the product working
The wall of split units is the heart of an AC experience centre, and at any moment several of them are running: a visitor wants to hear one, feel the throw from another, watch a louvre sweep. Each running unit moves several hundred cubic metres of air an hour through the zone in front of it, and any fragrance in that zone is thinned, carried and gone within minutes. The owners who fight this lose. The ones who accept it place the source on the far wall and let the demo bank be what it is: the one part of the floor that smells of nothing, because the product is doing exactly what the visitor came to see. The rule is the same one the cluster gives for a running chimney on demo: scent the approach, not the wall the demonstration lives on. On a reed that means the desk, not the bank. On the Vaayu it means the wall mount on the opposite side.
Rule: the zone in front of a running unit smells of nothing at any setting. Turning up only raises the rest of the floor.
2
Cassettes and towers
Ceiling units pull from below; towers throw across aisles - map the paths
Split units are the obvious movers. The less obvious ones are the ceiling cassettes on demonstration, which pull air up from the middle of the floor and throw it sideways in four directions, and the floor-standing towers, which put a column of moving air across an entire aisle. Walk the floor with the demo units on and a strip of tissue in your hand and you will find the paths in ten minutes: where the tissue lifts, fragrance will not stay. Draw those paths on the plan. The source goes where the tissue hangs still and the building's own supply crosses - usually high on the reception wall or the wall behind the desk - and the register is carried across the floor by the plant, not by the merchandise. Placing a scent machine on a central-AC floor covers the plant side of this; on an AC centre you add the merchandise paths on top of it.
Test: a strip of tissue held at chest height. Where it lifts, no fragrance will hold. Place where it hangs still.
3
Air purifiers on display
An air purifier removes fragrance because removing things is its job
Many AC experience centres carry a display of air purifiers, and a running air purifier on a plinth pulls the air of its own zone through a filter and returns it with the fragrance taken out. That is not a fault of the fragrance or the air purifier; it is the demonstration succeeding in front of the visitor. The zone around a running air purifier display smells of nothing, and it should. Place the source away from it, accept the clean pocket, and never put a reed on the same plinth. SOSA makes no claim about what fragrance does to any filter, and none about what a filter does to any fragrance beyond the plain observation that a machine built to take things out of the air takes this out too.
Mountain Breeze at the desk, well away from any running unit - pine, sage, cedar, one desk zone.
Supply carries, return removes - the source sits on the supply side
Under all the demo units there is still a building, and the building's own air-conditioning is the only distribution system the fragrance has. Supply grilles carry whatever is near them across the floor; return grilles take it back to the plant. The source sits high on the wall the supply crosses, away from the returns, and away from the demo bank - three constraints that usually leave exactly one wall, which is why a wall or HVAC mount matters more here than anywhere in the cluster. If the plant serves the sales floor alone and whoever maintains it agrees, an HVAC mount on that duct is the cleanest answer, and past about 3,000 sq ft one Angaan on the plant replaces the Vaayu. Never two Vaayus in one connected volume; a second machine belongs to a second floor with its own air. And the door: an AC centre is a glass-fronted shop like any other, and the threshold exchanges its air many times an hour. Place inward and accept it.
Rule: three constraints - supply side, away from returns, away from the demo bank - usually leave one wall. That is the wall.
5
The level
Set for the far point with the demos running, then lock it
Because the merchandise moves the air, an AC floor is the one showroom where the level test has to be run under load. Set the intensity on a quiet morning with everything off and it will read as too strong the moment the demo bank starts, because the running units thin the fragrance in their zone and the instinct is to compensate. Instead: demo units on, as they would be at four in the afternoon; stand at the far point of the sales floor away from any running unit; set the level so it is noticed there and nameable nowhere; then lock it. The advisor who stands at the desk nine hours a day is the judge, and if they say it is too much, it is too much. The intensity dial and the key-lock on the Vaayu exist for exactly this floor. One product fact, and only one: the Vaayu is waterless, adds no moisture and leaves no residue; SOSA makes no claim beyond that about what fragrance does to any unit, coil or finish. What a premium home-electronics showroom should smell like covers the warm-dust and plastic smells that come before any of this.
The Vaayu mounts on the supply wall, runs trading hours on a timer, and locks at the level set with the demos running.
On an air-conditioner floor the merchandise moves the air, so the fragrance is placed where the demonstration units are not blowing and the zone in front of a running unit is accepted as smelling of nothing.
Place, do not push. Supply side, away from the returns, away from the demo bank. Set under load, then lock. The register is dry so it survives the journey.
One machine, on the right wall, set under load: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999, waterless, wall or HVAC mount, timer and key-lock, up to 1000m³ of connected floor.
Zone by zone: who is moving the air, and what that means
The same answer laid over a typical AC experience centre. In the left column is the zone; in the right column is who is moving its air and what the fragrance can honestly do there.
The SOSA plan
An air-conditioner experience centre, zone by zone
The zone
Who moves the air, and what it should smell like
Reception wall, desk, entrance approach
The building's supply moves the air here, and this is where the source lives - one Vaayu high on the supply wall, away from the returns. Dry and quiet, noticed on arrival, forgotten within a minute. View →
Living-room and bedroom sets with units installed but off
A trace of the same register, carried by the plant. Nothing placed inside a set. This is where cedar reads most like a home. View →
The split-unit demo bank, running
Nothing, by physics. Several hundred cubic metres an hour per unit carry the fragrance to the returns. Accept it; never compensate. The demonstration owns the air.
Under a running ceiling cassette or across a tower's throw
Nothing while it runs. Map the throw with a tissue strip and keep the source out of it. When the unit is off the trace returns on its own.
Air purifier display, running
Nothing, and correctly so - the machine removes what is in the air, fragrance included. No reed on the plinth. A clean pocket the visitor came to see.
Second floor or a separately air-handled wing
Its own machine, same register, same under-load level test - a second Vaayu for a second volume, or one Angaan on a shared plant past about 3,000 sq ft. View →
Place where the demo units are not blowing - then leave it alone
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 mounts on the wall you choose and covers up to 1000m³ on a single waterless unit. Send a floor plan with the demo bank marked and we will place it honestly.
Every product on that wall is a fan. You will not out-scent a fan, and you should not try. Put the machine where the fans are not, set it with them running, and let the demo bank smell of nothing.

The SOSA AC-centre specification
Placed where the demo units are not blowing - set under load, never raised to compensate
Between 750 and 1,500 sq ft a Vaayu is bought for control, no water and the mount options - never for coverage. The four 100ml bottles in the Vaayu box are the supply; confirm refill availability with SOSA before you plan on it. Fragrance here is an interiors decision like lighting or music, with no claim about footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, and no claim about what it does to any air-conditioner, coil, filter or finish. It works alongside ventilation, cleaning and extraction, never instead of them. The demonstration bank and any tasting zone stay unscented.Ask for a showroom scenting plan and we will mark up your floor plan honestly.

A note from Sonal
The first AC experience centre I was asked to plan had a machine already in it, turned up to its maximum, and an owner who was sure it was faulty. It was not faulty. It was standing on a plinth in front of the demo wall, and twelve split units were taking everything it made and handing it to the returns before it had travelled a metre. The rest of the floor - the desk, the entrance, the advisor who had been breathing it all week - was getting the maximum setting in full. We moved it to the reception wall, high, turned it down three steps, and the floor was right by the afternoon. The demo bank still smelt of nothing. It should.
That is the whole of what I know about AC floors, and it fits on one line: the merchandise moves the air, so place where the merchandise is not. Walk the floor with the demos running and a strip of tissue; where it lifts, no fragrance will hold. The Vaayu mounts on the wall I point at rather than the socket that happens to be free, and on this floor that is the feature I would pay for first. Then set the level with the units running, from the far point, and lock it - because every advisor who walks past the demo bank will think the machine is weak, and the lock is what stops the floor being turned into a perfume counter one step at a time.
The register is the same dry family as everywhere else, chosen because dry survives being thinned: cedar, sage, a little tea - Mountain Breeze - or lemon and mint if the floor is white. A reed at the desk for a studio; one Vaayu at ₹11,999 from about 1,500 sq ft; one Angaan on the plant past 3,000. And through all of it: no claim that fragrance moves footfall, dwell time or sales, and no claim about what it does to any unit, coil or filter on display. It is an interiors decision, like lighting or music. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the fragrance vanish in front of the split-unit demonstration wall?
Because the units are running, and running is what they are sold to do. A split unit on demonstration moves several hundred cubic metres of air an hour through the zone in front of it; anything in that air is thinned, carried to the nearest return and handed to the building's plant within minutes. That zone will smell of nothing at any setting. It is not a fault and not a strength problem; the source is placed on the far wall from the demo bank and the clean pocket is accepted.
Should I turn the scent machine up to reach past the running AC units?
No. The demo units keep stripping their own zone at any setting, so turning up does nothing there - and the rest of the floor, where the advisor stands nine hours a day, receives the higher setting in full. The answer is placement: the source high on the wall the building's own supply crosses, away from the returns and away from the demo bank, set for the far point of the sales floor with the demonstration units running, and then key-locked so nobody compensates later.
Where exactly should a scent machine be mounted in an air-conditioner experience centre?
Three constraints usually leave one wall. On the supply side, so the building's plant carries the register across the floor. Away from the return grilles, so the source is not feeding the plant directly. Away from the demonstration bank, cassettes and towers, so the merchandise does not strip it before it travels. That is normally high on the reception wall or behind the desk. A wall or HVAC mount is what makes that wall possible, which is why the Vaayu is bought for its mount options on this floor.
Does a running air purifier on display take the fragrance out of the room?
Out of its own zone, yes, and correctly so: an air purifier is built to take things out of the air, and fragrance is one of the things. The pocket around a running air purifier display smells of nothing, which is the demonstration succeeding in front of the visitor. Keep the source away from it and never put a reed on the same plinth. SOSA makes no claim about what fragrance does to any filter, beyond noting that a filter removes it.
When should the fragrance level be set on an AC floor - demos on or off?
With the demonstration units running, as they would be at four in the afternoon. Set on a quiet morning with everything off and the level will read as too strong once the demo bank starts, because the running units thin the fragrance in their zone and the instinct is to compensate. Stand at the far point of the sales floor away from any running unit, set so it is noticed there and nameable nowhere, and lock it. The advisor at the desk is the judge.
On the supply wall, away from the demo bank, locked: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999, waterless, wall or HVAC mount, for the AC floor.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.
Facts verified 7 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, operation under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W (roughly 1.5 units of electricity a month on a ten-hour daily schedule), freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification - electrical and compliance marks. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or displays; the four 100ml bottles in the box are the supply, and refill availability should be confirmed with SOSA. The SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) is an HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, with an 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB; the SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) is the HVAC machine for 12,000-18,000 sq ft. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is a 500ml water-based ultrasonic diffuser for a single room of roughly 270-320 sq ft. SOSA reed diffusers - Mountain Breeze (₹849 / ₹1,349) and Morning Freshness (₹749 / ₹1,249), or the two together as the Fresh & Grounded duo (₹1,548 / ₹2,548) - are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with a 50ml bottle lasting 6-8 weeks and a 130ml bottle 14-18 weeks. Ambient fragrance in a showroom is an interior and hospitality decision: SOSA makes no claim that it changes dwell time, footfall, conversion, basket size, sales or any other business number, no claim about what it does to any appliance, surface or finish on display, and it is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or extraction. Warranty, installation, service and bulk terms are confirmed with SOSA directly.
