Founder Diaries · Corporate & Office Diwali Gifting
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 8 min read Updated September 2026
An employee with a forty-five minute drive each way spends about seven and a half hours a week in their car. Over a year that is a little under four hundred hours, which is more waking time than most people spend in their own living room. It is also, almost universally, the least furnished space they own. Nobody decorates a car. That combination - high hours, low investment - is what makes it the single best place to aim a modest corporate gift.
Quick answers — read this first
What is the best Diwali gift for employees who drive to work? A car fragrance. A 12ml hanging or spray car perfume costs ₹449 to ₹509 in eight scents, and it lands in the one space a daily driver occupies for hours a week and has almost certainly spent nothing on.

How much should we spend per employee on a car gift? ₹449 to ₹509 buys a full 12ml unit, ₹699 to ₹899 a set of three sprays, and ₹899 to ₹949 a two-scent combo. All three sit comfortably inside a normal employee gifting budget, and all three are stocked deeply enough for large orders.

Why a car gift rather than a home gift? Because a home already has things in it that somebody chose. A car usually does not. A commuting employee spends several hundred hours a year in a space they have never bought anything for, which is why a small, well-made object there gets noticed and used.
The short answer
Short answer: Give a car fragrance. A daily driver spends hundreds of hours a year in a space they have never furnished, and a 12ml car perfume at ₹449 is the cheapest way to change it.
The pick: a SOSA fragrance gift - alcohol-free, useful past January, from ₹379 a head.
Bulk: send headcount, per-head budget and cities, and we will confirm what stock can actually fill.
Corporate Diwali gifting - at a glanceVolume - car perfumes & refills scale to hundreds of unitsProfessional - nothing worn on the body for a colleagueTiered - ₹379 to ₹3,999 across seniorityHonest - we flag what stock cannot fill
A corporate Diwali gift works when it is useful, appropriate to a professional relationship, and actually available in the quantity you need. SOSA's fragrance range runs from Rs 379 per head to Rs 3,999 for senior gifts, alcohol-free and handmade in India.
Straight answer
What should we give employees who drive to work every day?
Work out the hours first, because they are the argument.

A one-way commute of thirty minutes is five hours a week in the car. Forty-five minutes each way is seven and a half. An hour each way, which is normal in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Gurugram, is ten hours a week and around four hundred and fifty hours a year. That is a substantial fraction of somebody's waking life, spent in a space almost nobody spends money on. Home goods, clothes, phones, kitchens - all of those already have somebody's taste applied. A car interior usually has whatever it came with.

That gap is where a ₹449 gift does disproportionate work. A hanging car perfume at ₹449, a Lemon at ₹499 or an Oud at ₹509 is small, but it is the only thing in the cabin that somebody chose deliberately, and the driver is in there twice a day, every working day.

Match the format to the shape of the commute. A long solo drive in an owned car suits the hanging format, which is passive and mild and needs no attention. A shared car, a carpool or a lot of cab and hire-car travel suits the spray, which the driver doses themselves. Somebody who is in the vehicle for four or five hours a day is a different case again, and the 50ML spray at ₹1,499 - about five hundred sprays, roughly a year - is the honest answer there rather than a 12ml bottle they will empty by January.

Then add the second date. A 15ML refill at ₹399 sent in February or March costs less than the original gift and turns a Diwali item into something the person is still using in the following year. For orders above fifty units, send headcount and cities through the bulk enquiry so availability is confirmed first. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: a commuting employee spends hundreds of hours a year in the least-furnished space they own, and ₹449 is enough to put one good thing in it.
For a whole team that commutes, the honest starting point is a hanging car perfume at ₹449 - useful, gift-ready, and stocked in the thousands. For managers, a reed diffuser from ₹749.
from ₹449

Why the car is the right room to furnish

Three reasons the commute is a better target for a corporate gift than the home, even when the budget is identical.

1
Hours
The time is already on the calendar
A gift for the home competes with everything else in the home for attention, and it competes with evenings that are often short. A gift for the car does not compete with anything, because the commute is non-negotiable and already scheduled twice a day. A hanging unit at ₹479 gets encountered ten times a week without anybody having to decide to encounter it.
Tip: Aim a gift at time that already exists on the recipient's calendar rather than time they would have to find.
2
Unfurnished
Almost nobody buys anything for their car
Ask around an office how many people have deliberately bought something for their car interior in the last two years, beyond a phone holder and a mat. The number is low. That means a modest object arriving there is not one of many - it is the only one. The same ₹500 spent on a home item lands in a room that already has fifty things in it.
3
Refillable
A commute is continuous, so the gift should be too
A commute does not stop in January. A 15ML refill at ₹399 is what turns a one-off festival item into something the recipient continues using through the year, and it is a cheaper second touch than any new gift would be. Scent-throw in a cabin rises with heat and airflow, so a car that stands in the sun will get through a unit faster and reach the refill sooner.
Tip: Budget the refill at the same time as the gift, not as an afterthought in March.
The SOSA principle
The commute is the largest block of a working person's week that nobody has ever spent any money improving.
That is why a ₹449 object placed there is noticed, while the same amount spent on a household item usually is not.

Matching the gift to the shape of the commute

The right format follows from how the commute is actually shaped rather than from how long it is.

The SOSA gifting edit
Car fragrance by the shape of the commute
Option Who it suits, and what it costs
Long solo drive in their own car A hanging car perfume at ₹509 or Jasmine at ₹449. Passive, mild, and needs no attention at all.
Carpool or a car shared at home The spray version at ₹479 - the driver sets the level each day rather than living with one that was chosen for them.
Four or more hours a day in the vehicle The 50ML spray at ₹1,499, around five hundred sprays, sized for roughly a year rather than a season.
A team where you want a second touch in the new year 15ML refills from ₹399 in February or March. Cheaper than the original gift, and it extends rather than replaces it.

If your team is mostly field sales rather than office commuters, the pattern of use is different enough to need its own answer and Field sales gifts covers it. If you are choosing scents for a large mixed group, One car scent for everyone sets out how to run an order across several scents instead of picking one. The car fragrance collection is where both formats live.

The SOSA corporate gift edit

Every SOSA gift is alcohol-free, long-lasting and ready to hand over, handmade in small batches in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the edit by budget tier and by who the gift is for.

The SOSA corporate Diwali gift edit
Five tiers that cover a whole company - from a ₹379 attar to a ₹3,999 executive gift
Gift Best for Why it works at the office From
Attar roll-on 3ML Whole team · small budget Alcohol-free concentrated oil, four scents, gift-ready tin - the honest sub-₹400 option ₹379
Hanging car perfume Teams that commute · bulk Eight scents, thousands in stock, genuinely useful to anyone who drives ₹449
Car spray set of 3 Sales & field teams Three scents in one box - feels like a set, still under a thousand ₹699
Reed diffuser 50ML Managers · remote staff Flame-free, no plug, no water - works in a home office or a cabin ₹749
SOSA Safar Senior leadership Waterless car diffuser - the executive gift that is actually in stock ₹3,999

Two honest notes. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil; the Hotel Collection is a separate water-based fragrance for ultrasonic mist diffusers, and the two are not interchangeable. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations - SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

Most corporate Diwali gifts fail for the same reason: they are chosen to be defensible rather than useful. A box of sweets nobody eats, dry fruits that go into a cupboard. The gift is not really for the employee - it is for the person signing it off.

The test I would apply is simple. Will this still be in use in February? A car fragrance in the car of someone who drives to work every day passes that test. So does a reed diffuser in a home office. A body-worn perfume chosen for someone you do not know well does not, because fragrance worn on skin is personal - choosing it for a colleague is a comment on how they smell, and most people quietly do not wear it.

Two honest things I would rather say than sell past. If your budget is genuinely under Rs 350 a head, fragrance is the wrong category - buy something else and come back next year. And if you need three hundred of something we hold ninety of, we will tell you, because a Diwali gift that arrives in December is worse than no gift at all. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Diwali gift for employees who commute by car?
A car fragrance, and specifically a 12ml hanging or spray perfume at ₹449 to ₹509. A person with a forty-five minute drive each way is in that cabin for around seven and a half hours a week, in a space they have almost certainly never bought anything for. Very little else at that price gets used as often.
Is a car perfume too small a gift for an employee?
Judge it by use rather than by size. A box of sweets costing the same is finished in a week. A car perfume is encountered twice a day for weeks, and a ₹399 refill extends it into the following year. If the budget genuinely needs the gift to look larger, a set of three sprays from ₹699 or a two-scent combo from ₹899 solves that without leaving the category.
Should we give hanging car perfumes or sprays to commuters?
Hanging units for people who drive their own car alone, because nothing is asked of them. Sprays for people who share a car, carpool, or use cabs and hire cars, because the recipient sets the intensity and the bottle is not tied to one vehicle. Both cost the same and come in the same eight scents.
How long will a car perfume last for a daily commuter?
Typically several weeks for a 12ml unit in ordinary use. Heat and airflow both raise the rate at which scent is released, so a car parked outside in the sun will get through it faster than one kept in a basement. For someone in the vehicle four or more hours a day, the 50ML spray at ₹1,499 is a more honest fit.
How do we find out how many employees actually drive?
Ask, in one line, before you order. A single question in a form, with no name attached, is enough to split the headcount into drivers and non-drivers. It is worth the two days it costs, because a car gift given to somebody who takes the metro is a wasted unit and they will know it was not thought through.
