People budget for home fragrance the way they budget for a phone: one large number, paid once, and then a vague dread about what it will cost to keep running. The dread is misplaced. In a 1BHK the hardware is the big number and it is smaller than most people guess; the fragrance is the number that repeats and it is smaller still. What follows is the full arithmetic for a two-room flat — every line item, every total, and an honest estimate of what a year actually costs.
Quick answers — read this first
Entry: ₹1,899 — one Sukoon for the living area, three 15ml scents included in the box.

Proper: ₹2,798 — that Sukoon plus a Boond at ₹899 for the bedroom. This is the one to buy.

Generous: ₹3,798 — two Sukoons, one per room.

Running cost: roughly ₹999 a year. A 100ml refill covers a two-room 1BHK run a few evenings a week for a little over twelve months.
The short answer
Short answer: ₹2,798 does a 1BHK properly — a Sukoon at ₹1,899 for the open living area and a Boond at ₹899 for the closed bedroom. The Sukoon arrives with three 15ml fragrances, so nothing else is needed on day one.
The running cost: About ₹999 a year. Two machines run a few evenings a week get through roughly 80–90ml of Hotel Collection in twelve months, which is one 100ml refill. A 300ml at ₹1,799 is about ₹6 per millilitre and lasts several years at that rate.
Do not budget for: A Vaayu at ₹11,999 or an Aangan at ₹25,999. Both are waterless commercial machines that run neat oil and cannot take the water-based Hotel Collection at all — and both are absurd for 550 sq ft.
Straight answer
What does it cost to scent a 1BHK properly?
1. ₹2,798 is the honest number. A Sukoon at ₹1,899 in the open living area and a Boond at ₹899 in the bedroom. Two closed air spaces, two machines, and the smaller room gets the smaller machine because that is what it needs.

2. ₹1,899 is a complete setup, not a deposit. The Sukoon ships with three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances of your choice. At the 15ml price of ₹299 each that is ₹897 of scent in the box, and 45ml is most of a year for one machine.

3. ₹3,798 buys two Sukoons, and it is not wrong. It is simply more than a 1BHK bedroom needs. Buy it if your bedroom is over 150 sq ft, or if you want the remote and the timers on both machines.

4. The recurring cost is one bottle a year. Roughly ₹999. Two machines, a few evenings a week, work through about 80–90ml of fragrance in twelve months — one 100ml refill. That is around ₹83 a month for a whole flat that smells of something.

5. Buy the bigger bottle once you know your scent. A 15ml is ₹299, which is about ₹20 per millilitre. A 300ml is ₹1,799, which is about ₹6. The 15ml is for deciding; the 300ml is for living.

TL;DR: a 1BHK costs ₹2,798 to do properly — Sukoon ₹1,899 in the living area, Boond ₹899 in the bedroom, three fragrances included. After that it is roughly ₹999 a year in refills, or about ₹83 a month.
SOSA Sukoon 500ml ultrasonic cool mist diffuser
The expensive half of a cheap setup
SOSA Sukoon · 500ml ₹1,899
Covers 270–320 sq ft, which is the whole open living, dining and kitchen end of a typical 1BHK. 16–18 hours a fill on low, 9–12 on high, with a remote and steady / 2H / 4H timers. Three 15ml Hotel Collection scents come in the box, so ₹1,899 is the complete figure rather than the first of several.

Why the hardware is the small problem and the fragrance is the small bill

The instinct when pricing a scented home is to fear the consumable. Printers taught us this: cheap machine, ruinous ink. So people either overbuy hardware or avoid the category entirely. Neither is right here. A 1BHK done properly is ₹2,798 of machinery that you buy once and never again — the Sukoon and the Boond are simple ultrasonic devices with a plate, a fan and a tank, and there is nothing in them that expires. Against that, the fragrance you will get through in a year at real household usage is one 100ml bottle at ₹999 — twelve months of a composed-smelling flat for one restaurant evening.

What distorts the estimate is that people picture the machine running constantly, because the specifications invite it — 16 to 18 hours a fill sounds like an instruction. It is not. Nobody in a 550 sq ft flat runs a diffuser for eighteen hours; you run it for an hour or two when you come home. At three to four drops a session, a 15ml bottle holds roughly three hundred drops, and the sums stop looking frightening very quickly. The second thing that distorts it is the assumption that the bedroom needs an equal machine. It does not. A 1BHK bedroom is usually 100 to 140 sq ft with the door shut, which is exactly what a ₹899 Boond is rated for, and a bedroom wants less scent than a living room anyway. That single decision is the difference between ₹3,798 and ₹2,798, and it costs you nothing in results.

The three decisions that set your budget

1
DECISION ONE · HOW MANY MACHINES
One or two, and the door decides it
SOSA Sukoon diffuserSOSA Sukoon₹1,899If your bedroom door genuinely stays open — no AC, no light sleeper, no shift worker — the flat behaves as one large air space and a single Sukoon at ₹1,899 will carry it. If the door shuts, and for most people it does the moment the AC goes on, the bedroom is a separate volume that receives nothing from the living room and you are buying two machines. That is the entire budget question, and it is answered by watching your own door for a week rather than by measuring your flat.
The rule: you are paying per closed air space, not per square foot.
2
DECISION TWO · WHICH SECOND MACHINE
A ₹899 Boond, not a second ₹1,899 Sukoon
This is where a thousand rupees hides. The default assumption is that a proper setup means two identical machines, which puts a 1BHK at ₹3,798. It does not need to. The Boond is ₹899, holds 300ml, runs about six hours a fill and is rated to 150 sq ft — which covers the great majority of 1BHK bedrooms with room to spare. It is also USB-powered with a soft colour night light, which is a better fit for a bedside table than a machine with a remote control. Spend the ₹1,899 where the work is: the open living and kitchen end, where cooking fights you and the volume is three times larger. Buy the second Sukoon only if your bedroom is genuinely over 150 sq ft, or if you want timers in both rooms.
The saving: ₹2,798 instead of ₹3,798, with no meaningful loss in the smaller room.
3
DECISION THREE · WHICH BOTTLE SIZE
Small to decide, large to live with
Fragrance is the only line that comes back, so it is worth buying correctly. A 15ml is ₹299, roughly ₹20 a millilitre — expensive per drop, but it is the honest way to find out whether you actually want Westin-inspired White Tea Serenity in your bedroom every night. A 100ml refill is ₹999, about ₹10 a millilitre, and covers a two-room 1BHK for a little over a year. A 300ml at ₹1,799 is around ₹6 a millilitre and will see you through several years or let you keep two scents in rotation. The Pack of 7 at ₹1,799 gives you all seven in 15ml and is the right buy only if you have no idea what you like yet.

Every line item, priced

The complete price list for a 1BHK, separated into what you buy once and what comes back. Drop counts assume a standard dropper at roughly 0.05ml — sensible estimates, not laboratory figures.

Pack of 7 · all seven in 15ml ₹1,799 Every scent in the range at once — a way of deciding, not a way of stocking up Once, if at all
What is not on this list: a Megh at ₹3,499 covers 215 sq ft, which is less than a Sukoon — it is a 100-hour tank for one dry room, never a coverage upgrade. And a Vaayu at ₹11,999 or Aangan at ₹25,999 are waterless machines that run neat oil and cannot take the water-based Hotel Collection at all.

The ₹2,798 setup, itemised
The SOSA principle
The machines are bought once. The fragrance is the only bill that comes back, and for a two-room flat it is around ₹999 a year.
That is roughly ₹83 a month to have both rooms of a 1BHK smell deliberate. The fear of the consumable is misplaced here.

How fast you actually get through fragrance

Start with a realistic picture of use, because every running-cost estimate lives or dies on this. A typical 1BHK evening is the living-room machine on for an hour or two when you get home, perhaps five evenings a week, at three to four drops a session. The bedroom machine goes on forty-five minutes before you sleep, three or four nights a week, at two to three drops — less, because the room is smaller and you are lying still in it. Add that up and you are using around thirty drops a week across both rooms.

Turn that into millilitres. A dropper drop is around 0.05ml, so thirty drops a week is about 1.6ml, which is roughly 80 to 85ml over a year for the whole flat. One 100ml refill at ₹999 therefore covers a two-room 1BHK for a little over twelve months. Put differently: the three 15ml bottles that arrive with the Sukoon are 45ml, which will carry the living-room machine on its own for the better part of a year before you buy anything. If you run both machines harder — daily, longer sessions, six drops — halve those figures and you are still under ₹2,000 a year for a scented flat.

Two economies worth knowing. First, the bottle size genuinely matters: at ₹299 for 15ml you are paying about ₹20 a millilitre, at ₹999 for 100ml about ₹10, and at ₹1,799 for 300ml about ₹6. Buy small while you are deciding and large once you have decided. Second, the commonest way to waste fragrance is not overdosing but bad placement — a machine standing in the draught of a fan or a split AC pushes its output into one wall, and you compensate by adding drops. Move it before you add more. Use filtered water in hard-water cities, rinse the tank when you change scents, and never put raw essential or carrier oils in an ultrasonic machine.

The bill that frightens people is the one that never arrives. Hardware once, one bottle a year.

Year two onward One 100ml refill ₹999 — or a 300ml ₹1,799 for several years Both rooms, a few evenings a week about ₹83/month
Honest notes before you buy: the Sukoon includes three 15ml fragrances of your choice, so ₹1,899 and ₹2,798 are complete figures rather than starting points — nothing else is required on day one. These are ultrasonic, water-based fragrances, so they add a little humidity, which is welcome in an air-conditioned bedroom and less so in a coastal monsoon. The machines (Boond, Sukoon, Megh) are imported from China; the Hotel Collection fragrances are composed and made in India. They are not for reed diffusers or for waterless nebulisers like the Vaayu (₹11,999) or Aangan (₹25,999), which run neat oil and cannot take water-based fragrance — both are commercial machines and far beyond anything a 1BHK needs. Use filtered water in hard-water areas, rinse between scents, and keep fragrance away from children and pets. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A note from Sonal

The question I am asked about budget is almost never "how much does it cost" — it is "how much does it keep costing". People have been trained by razors and printers to expect the trap. There is no trap here, and I would rather say so plainly than let the worry stop someone buying a ₹899 machine.

Where I do think money gets wasted is at the top of the range. Someone with a 550 sq ft flat writes to ask whether they should look at the commercial machines, and the answer is no — those run neat oil, cannot take the water-based Hotel Collection at all, and are built for lobbies. Equally, I would rather you did not buy a Megh for a 1BHK expecting more coverage; it covers less than a Sukoon and costs nearly twice as much. It earns its price in a very dry room where you want a hundred hours of runtime, and nowhere else.

So the whole budget, honestly: ₹2,798 once, then about a thousand rupees a year. Buy the 15ml sizes while you are working out what you like, and move to a 300ml when you know — the per-millilitre difference is threefold and it is the only lever in the running cost worth pulling. A portion of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to scent a 1BHK?
₹2,798 to do it properly — a Sukoon at ₹1,899 for the open living area and a Boond at ₹899 for the closed bedroom. The Sukoon includes three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances, so that figure is complete. The cheapest honest entry is a Boond plus one 15ml at ₹299, which is ₹1,198 for a single room.
What is the ongoing cost after the machines?
Roughly ₹999 a year. Two machines run a few evenings a week get through about 80–85ml of fragrance in twelve months, which is one 100ml refill — around ₹83 a month for a whole flat. A 300ml at ₹1,799 works out near ₹6 per millilitre and lasts several years at that rate.
Is two Sukoons at ₹3,798 worth it over the ₹2,798 pair?
Only in two cases. If your bedroom is larger than 150 sq ft the Boond is genuinely undersized and a second Sukoon is the right buy. And if you want a remote and timers in both rooms, that is a fair reason to pay the extra ₹1,000. Otherwise the bedroom wants less scent, not more, and the ₹899 machine is the better fit as well as the cheaper one.
Which fragrance size is the best value?
The 300ml at ₹1,799, which is about ₹6 per millilitre against roughly ₹10 for the 100ml at ₹999 and about ₹20 for the 15ml at ₹299. But buy 15ml first. The saving on a large bottle of a scent you end up disliking is not a saving.
Should I budget for a Megh or a Vaayu in a 1BHK?
No to both. The Megh at ₹3,499 covers 215 sq ft, which is less than the ₹1,899 Sukoon — it is a six-litre, 100-hour runtime and humidity machine for one dry room, not a coverage upgrade. The Vaayu at ₹11,999 and Aangan at ₹25,999 are waterless commercial units that run neat oil and cannot use the water-based Hotel Collection at all.
