Most questions a recommender asks separate nobody: everyone likes a pleasant scent and everyone wants it to last. Only a few answers send two readers to different products, and this page finds them, including the one that leaves a branch empty.
Quick answers — read this first
Which questions separate a spray from Safar? Two do almost all of it. Will you press something each time you get in, and will you accept a unit you can see, hung, clipped or stood on the dashboard? No to both leaves Safar.

Does SOSA make a vent clip? No. SOSA makes sprays, hanging units and Safar, and no vent product of any kind. One of the five formats has nothing in it, and the page says so rather than steering you to a near miss.

Is Safar the answer only because it costs more? No. Reject pressing and visible placement and one category remains because nothing else in the range qualifies, not because it is an upsell. If your scent is oud or lavender, nothing qualifies at all.
The short answer
Short answer: Two questions separate the formats: will you press, and will you accept something visible. The scent gates the rest. Most other questions separate nobody.
The pick: Press, nothing visible: a spray at ₹509. Won't press, nothing visible: SOSA Safar at ₹3,999. Won't press, will accept visible: a hanging unit from ₹449.
Next step: Answer the six questions below, yes or no, and check your scent. Send us your six answers and we will name the branch, the product and a first week.
Five formats, one empty branchMost questions separate nobody; two separate almost everythingPress something, or not: that removes the sprayAccept something visible, or not: that removes three formatsSOSA makes no vent product, so that branch is emptyNo to both leaves one category: Safar, with no upsell in it
Pressing and placing do the separating, and the scent gates what remains. Put the two refusals together and one category is left, because there was never a clip in the range, not because anything was added to the price.

Straight answer
Which Combination of Questions Actually Separates Someone Who Needs a Spray From Someone Who Needs a Hanging Perfume, a Vent Clip, Passive Fragrance or Safar?
Two questions do almost all of it: will you press something every time you get in, and will you accept something you can see? The scent gates what is left. Everything else refines a choice that these three have already made.

1. Pressing separates the spray from the other four. A spray is applied by hand, and its strength is the number of presses. If you will not press it, or know you would forget, it is out, and nothing else about the format needs discussing.

2. Placing separates three formats from Safar. A hanging perfume, a vent clip and a passive unit left in sight all have to be seen: hung from the mirror, clipped to a vent or stood on the dashboard. If nothing visible is allowed, all three are out together, which is why this is the question that does most of the work.

3. SOSA makes no vent product, so one of the five branches is empty. I would rather say so than send you to a near miss. Passive fragrance and the hanging perfume also land on the same SOSA product, because the hanging unit is the only one that releases by itself.

4. Reject pressing and visible placement together and one category remains: Safar. That is not an upsell. There was never a clip in the range, and the spray and the hanging unit are the two other things SOSA makes. Safar is ₹3,999; the other two start at ₹449.

5. The scent can empty the last branch too. Oud, lavender, mint, sea breeze and orange blossom exist only as sprays and hanging units. A reader who must have one of them and refuses both has no SOSA format, and I will say so instead of selling a different scent.

First step: answer the first two questions with a yes or a no. If both are no, check your scent against the waterless range before anything else. The whole intake, nine questions long, is on the intake form you can copy into an email.
Two questions separate the five formats: will you press, will you accept something visible. No to both leaves Safar, because SOSA never made a clip. A scent like oud empties even that branch.
The six questions that separate, and what each answer removes
1 · Pressing Will you press something every time you get in? Changes: the spray. No removes it, and so does an honest 'I would forget'. Yes keeps all five alive and passes you to the next question.
2 · Placing Will you accept a unit you can see: hung from the mirror, clipped to a vent or stood on the dashboard? Changes: three formats at once, hanging, vent clip and passive. No removes all three. This does the most separating.
3 · The scent Which scent do you want? Changes: whether a branch has anything in it. Oud, lavender, mint, sea breeze and orange blossom are sprays and hanging units only; tea, cherry blossom, tobacco vanilla and mahogany are waterless only.
4 · The dial Once it is set up, do you want to change the strength? Changes: what survives. A spray changes by how many presses, Safar by speed and timer, and a hanging unit has no dial.
5 · The empty car Does it matter if it keeps releasing when nobody is in the car? Changes: the hanging unit, which releases parked. Yes removes it; a spray and Safar do not release into an empty car.
6 · The clip Is a vent clip specifically what you want? Changes: nothing in my range, and I will say so. It is the empty branch, and the honest reply is to ask what the clip is for.
These are the only six I would call separating, because each has two answers that send a reader to different places. The rest, like whether you want a pleasant smell, do not. Send me the six, yes or no, with your scent, and I will name the branch.

SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is what remains when pressing and visible placement are both ruled out: three speed settings, a one, two or three-hour auto-off timer, cordless on a 2000 mAh Type-C battery, up to ten hours continuous or thirty intermittent per charge. 6.9 cm, so it sits in the cup-holder: placed, not mounted. Aroma only; it does not humidify.

Five formats, one empty branch

The five formats in the title are the ones readers name. SOSA makes three things: a spray, a hanging unit and Safar. The vent clip has no product, and passive fragrance, defined as something that releases by itself and sits where you can see it, is the hanging unit again.

For a reader who will press it, parked
SOSA Vetiver Car Perfume
₹509 for hanging 12 ml, ₹509 for car perfume spray, ₹1,499 for 50 ml car perfume spray. One product, three variants: a 12 ml Hanging (Mild scent-throw), a Spray (Strong scent-throw) and a 50 ml car perfume spray. The spray is applied by hand, so its strength is the number of presses, and nothing is mounted. It is the same price as the hanging variant, a choice of format and not a step up.
From ₹509
For a reader who will hang it and press nothing
SOSA Jasmine Car Freshener
₹449 for hanging 12 ml, ₹449 for car perfume spray, ₹1,499 for 50 ml car perfume spray. The Hanging (Mild scent-throw) variant releases by itself, with nothing to press or charge, and has to be seen: it hangs. It releases while parked whether or not anyone is in the car, and it has no dial. A 15 ml refill keeps it going. The same price as the spray.
From ₹449
The branch that remains when pressing and placing are refused
SOSA Safar
₹3,999 for SOSA naturals trio, ₹4,499 for hotel-inspired trio. Cordless, 6.9 cm, three speeds and a one, two or three-hour timer, cold diffusion of pure undiluted oil: no water, no heat, no residue. It runs on sixteen scents, none of which is oud, lavender, mint, sea breeze or orange blossom. Aroma only; it does not humidify, and it does not dry a cabin.

Questions that separate, and ones that do not

A question separates only if its two answers send two readers to different products. Most of the usual ones do not, which is why a long form can tell you less than two good questions. The cards sort the useless, the decisive and the empty.

1
One
Questions that separate nobody
Do you like a pleasant scent? Everyone does. Do you want it to last? Everyone does. Is the car important to you? It makes no difference to which shelf you are sent to. A question earns its place only if the answer 'yes' and the answer 'no' lead to different products, and those three never do. They are conversation, which is fine, but a recommender who spends a form on them has not found the branch yet. A good test is to imagine the two answers and ask whether you would hand the readers different boxes. If not, the question can wait or go.
Tip: Before you answer any question, ask whether the opposite answer would change what you buy. If not, it is not the one.
If the only question you can answer is which scent, SOSA Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set from ₹699 answers it by nose, before any of the format questions.

2
Two
Pressing and placing: the two that do the separating
Pressing splits one format from four. A spray is the only thing here that needs your hand every time, and that is either a pleasure or a chore, which is exactly why the answer separates. Placing splits three from one: hung, clipped and stood-in-sight formats must be seen, and Safar is placed in a cup-holder, not mounted to anything. Notice the order matters little. Whichever you ask first, the second finishes the job, and a no to both leaves a single category with nothing left to compare it with. That is the finding, and it is not engineered.
Tip: Answer honestly about pressing. A reader who says yes and forgets by Thursday should be counted as a no.
SOSA Vetiver Car Perfume at ₹509 in the format labelled Spray (Strong scent-throw): the right end for a reader who will press and wants nothing visible.
See SOSA Vetiver Car Perfume →

Three
The empty branch: why there is no vent clip here
SOSA makes no vent product. I did not leave it out of the table by accident, and I would rather show the empty branch than hide it. If a clip is what you want, we have nothing, and I will not point you at the spray or the hanging unit as though they were a clip. What I can do is ask what the clip is for. If it is for a unit that is out of the way, a spray pressed parked leaves nothing in sight at all; and if it is for a continuous release without pressing, the hanging unit or Safar does that. Neither is a clip, and I would say so.
Tip: If a vent clip is essential, say so plainly. A plain no from us is more use to you than a near miss.
Nothing on the vents: SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is placed in a cup-holder, so it is the answer for a reader who wants nothing clipped.
See SOSA Safar →
The SOSA principle
A question is useful only if its two answers send two readers to different shelves. Most of the questions asked about car fragrance do not, and the few that do are the only ones worth putting in a form.
That is also why the last branch is not an upsell. It is what is left when every other shelf has been honestly closed, and if the scent closes it too, the honest answer is to buy nothing from us.

The five formats as a differential

A differential lists the candidates and, for each, the answers that rule it in and the answers that rule it out. The five formats in the title are the five rows. The last column says what SOSA actually makes, which for one row is nothing.

The differential
Each format, what rules it in, what rules it out, what SOSA has
The format, and the answers that decide it What rules it out, and what SOSA makes
A spray you press each time you get in
Out if you will not press or would forget. In if you will press and want nothing in sight. SOSA makes it: Spray (Strong scent-throw), the same price as hanging on every scent, plus the Mysore Orange Blossom spray. View →
A hanging perfume on the mirror
Out if nothing visible is allowed, if release into an empty car matters, or if you want a dial. In if you will hang it and press nothing. SOSA makes it: Hanging (Mild scent-throw), with a 15 ml refill. View →
A clip on the air vent
Out if nothing visible is allowed. In if a clip is what you want. SOSA makes none: this is the empty branch, and I will not send you to a near miss in its place.
Passive fragrance, released by itself and left in sight
Out if nothing visible is allowed or release into an empty car matters. SOSA's only unit that behaves this way is the hanging one, so this row and the second land on the same product. View →
Safar, set once, in the cup-holder
In if you will not press, will accept nothing visible, or want a dial. Out if your scent is oud, lavender, mint, sea breeze or orange blossom, none of which is among its sixteen scents. View →

The differential is only as good as the answers, and the question most readers answer least truthfully is the first. Why a refusal to spray, hang or clip belongs at the top of any list is argued on asking what you dislike before recommending anything. The method of asking at all is on what to ask before recommending a car perfume, scent and format taken together are on choosing both from your taste, hours and passengers, and the honest case where the answer is none of the above is when twenty minutes a day means buying nothing. For the nine questions in a form you can send, the intake page is that. Or tell us yes or no to pressing and placing, and your scent.

Answer two questions and the branch chooses itself
Will you press something every time you get in?
  • Yes, I do not mind pressing, and I would not forget
  • No, I want to set it and leave it
Will you accept a unit you can see: hung, clipped or stood on the dashboard?
  • Yes, something in sight is fine
  • No, nothing visible
Will press · something in sight is fine
A spray or a hanging unit, and they are the same price on every scent. Press the spray when you get in for a strong hit; hang the unit for a mild release that needs nothing from you. Neither needs anything more, and the cheaper of the two starts at ₹449.
Will press · nothing visible
The spray, and nothing else. A Vetiver spray at ₹509 pressed lightly, parked, leaves nothing in sight and nothing releasing into an empty car. Nothing more is needed.
Won't press · something in sight is fine
The hanging unit in your scent, labelled Hanging (Mild scent-throw), with a 15 ml refill when it fades. If it matters to you that it releases while the car is empty, or you want to change the strength, go back: that is a reason against it.
Won't press · nothing visible
Safar is the only category left, and not as an upsell: nothing else in the range qualifies. Check your scent first. If it is oud, lavender, mint, sea breeze or orange blossom, no SOSA format fits and I will say so. Otherwise SOSA Safar at ₹3,999, lowest speed, one-hour timer, cup-holder, one week.
Press it or set it: the fork this page ends on
The branches that have something in them end in three places. These buttons are the two that need nothing hung: a spray you press once, parked, or Safar, set once.

A good question sends two readers to different shelves, and when the answers are no and no only one shelf is left, because there was never a clip in the range.

The SOSA specification, by branch

Three rows, one for each branch that has something in it. A fourth, the vent clip, has no row, because SOSA makes none. Each row says which answers lead there, and none is sized to a cabin, because SOSA publishes no cabin figure for Safar.

The SOSA specification, by the answers that lead there
Which combination of answers lands on which product
Product Best for Why it works Price
SOSA Vetiver Car Perfume Will press, wants nothing visible or releasing parked ₹509 for hanging 12 ml. Spray (Strong scent-throw): press lightly, parked. The same price as the hanging variant on every scent, so it is a format, not a tier ₹509
View →
SOSA Jasmine Car Freshener Will not press, will accept something hung ₹449 for hanging 12 ml. Hanging (Mild scent-throw) releases by itself and has no dial. A 15 ml refill keeps it going. It releases parked, which some readers will not want ₹449
View →
SOSA Safar Will not press, accepts nothing visible, scent in the waterless range ₹3,999 for SOSA naturals trio. Three speeds and a one, two or three-hour timer. Cordless, 2000 mAh Type-C, 6.9 cm. Start low, parked. No cabin figure is published, so none is given ₹3,999
View →
Start with the two questions, not the product. If something in the cabin smells before fragrance is added, find the source and let air through with the doors open, parked; fragrance does not remove a smell. If the cabin is clear, Safar is ₹3,999 for SOSA naturals trio, ₹4,499 for hotel-inspired trio and what you are buying is control, not reach, because SOSA publishes no cabin figure for it and nobody should give you one. It is aroma only and does not humidify; it does not dehumidify, dry a cabin or do anything about damp either, and no SOSA product does. A Vetiver spray is ₹509, the Jasmine hanging unit is ₹449, and spray and hanging are the same price on every scent. SOSA makes no vent product. SOSA is not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer and makes no health, wellbeing or driving-related claim of any kind. Settings are changed parked. A note from Sonal

I would rather show you an empty branch than a full one that is not true. SOSA makes a spray, a hanging unit and Safar, and no vent clip, and when I put the five formats into a table that gap is the first thing the table shows. I could have papered over it with a near miss. A reader who needs a clip would have found out the hard way, and I think the plain no is kinder.

The finding I did not expect is how little the form needs. Two questions, pressing and placing, split the five formats more cleanly than a dozen about taste, and a no to both leaves Safar. I know how that sounds from a company that sells Safar. It is true because the other two things we make are a spray you press and a unit you hang, and you have just said no to both. If your scent is oud or lavender, the same logic leaves nothing, and I will tell you to look elsewhere.

Safar has no published figure for how far it reaches and I will not improvise one. It is aroma only; it does not humidify. Settings are changed parked. If your answers lead to a spray at ₹509, that is a fine place to end, and I will say so. A portion of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Is there really no vent product in the range?
None. In its car range SOSA makes sprays, hanging units, the Safar machine and the oil it runs on, and no vent clip or vent product of any kind. If a clip is essential, we have nothing for you, and I would rather say that than recommend a near miss. Ask what the clip is for and we can talk about that instead.
Why do hanging and passive land on the same product?
Because I define passive fragrance as something that releases by itself, with nothing to press or charge, and sits where you can see it. SOSA's only unit that behaves that way is the hanging one. SOSA publishes no tucked-away format, and I will not pretend the hanging unit is one.
Is it not convenient that no and no leads to the dear one?
It would be, if the other branches were fake. They are not: two of the four leaves above end on cheaper products, and a no to both can end on nothing at all if your scent is oud, lavender, mint, sea breeze or orange blossom. The conclusion follows from the range, not from the price.
What if I say yes to pressing but know I will forget?
Count it as a no. The question is about what you will do, not what you hope to. A spray unpressed is no fragrance at all, and the honest answer for a reader who forgets is a format that does not need the hand: the hanging unit if something in sight is fine, Safar if it is not.
Does Safar count as something visible?
It is placed, not mounted. SOSA publishes the cup-holder as its place, and nothing hangs, clips or sits on the vents. If even a unit in the cup-holder is more than you want in sight, tell us, and we can think about where it goes. A spray pressed parked leaves nothing visible at all.

Facts verified 1 October 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: SOSA Safar is a cordless waterless car perfume diffuser from ₹3,999, rising to ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios. It has three speed settings and a one, two or three-hour auto-off timer, runs up to ten hours continuous or thirty hours intermittent on its 2000 mAh Type-C battery, is 6.9 cm tall, and cold-diffuses pure undiluted oil with no water, no heat and no residue. In the box: the diffuser, a 20 ml bottle, a Type-C cable and a manual. SOSA publishes no coverage figure for Safar, so this page states none and sizes it to no cabin. Safar is aroma only and does not humidify; equally it does not dehumidify, dry a cabin or fix damp. Waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 g, ₹1,849 for 300 g, in sixteen scents, shared with the SOSA Vaayu. The hanging fresheners and car perfume sprays run from ₹449 to ₹509, each one product with a mild-throw hanging variant, a stronger spray variant and a 50 ml spray; 15 ml hanging refills are ₹399 for 15 ml, Lemon or Jasmine, ₹429 for 15 ml, Sandalwood, Lavender or Icy Mint, ₹449 for 15 ml, Sea Breeze, Vetiver or Oud, Mysore Orange Blossom is ₹549 for 10 ml, ₹1,499 for 50 ml, and the discovery set of three is ₹699 for pack of 3 to ₹799.
