★ One machine per genuine volume, and most centres have one
A zone is a volume of air with a real boundary, not a corner of the plan you want to feel different Never a second machine for a second corner of the same room Made in India · independent, not affiliated with any hotel · a portion funds girl-child education

The word zone does a lot of quiet damage in this conversation, because founders use it to mean a part of the plan they would like to feel different, and I use it to mean a volume of air with a boundary. Almost every disagreement about this question is really about that.
Quick answers — read this first
One signature or several zones? One signature, in every case. The fragrance never changes anywhere in the building. Zones are a separate question, and a zone is not a mood or a department - it is a volume of air with a real boundary. If a patient can walk from one part of your centre to another without opening a door, or if the same AC loop serves both, they are one zone and they take one machine. Most integrated centres, once tested this way, have exactly one.

What counts as a genuinely separate volume? Three things, in practice. Another floor. Its own AC wing, with separate supply and return rather than a shared loop. A sealed suite behind a door that stays shut - a self-contained day-care or procedure wing with its own circulation. Those are second zones and may take a second machine running the same profile. A second corner of the same open room is not a zone. A different department at the far end of one corridor is not a zone.

What does that mean for what I buy? Usually one machine. A single SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 covers up to 1000m³, which is more than a shared reception and corridor use, so it runs low rather than working hard. A second unit is a second volume, never a second setting or a second fragrance. And if your one zone is a single reception under about 750 sq ft, the honest buy is a SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899.
The short answer
Short answer: one signature fragrance always, and multiple zones only where there is a genuinely separate volume of air - another floor, its own AC wing, or a sealed suite behind a door that stays shut. Never a second machine for a second corner of the same room. Most integrated centres have one zone, which is one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) per genuine volume of air, running the same profile in every zone - and for most integrated centres that is exactly one unit, or one SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) where the single zone is a small reception.
Next step: send the floor plan with the AC layout marked and the doors that actually stay shut, and we will tell you how many genuine zones you have - usually one - Ask for a clinic scenting plan.
One signature or multiple zones - the answer in five linesOne fragrance, everywhere, without exceptionA zone is a volume of air, not a departmentSecond floor, own AC wing or sealed suite onlyMost centres have one zone - one Vaayu, ₹11,999Never a second machine for the same room
The fragrance question and the zone question are different questions. The first has one answer everywhere; the second is settled by doors, ducts and floors rather than by the plan you would like.
One machine per genuine volume - tap to see the specification
Straight answer
Should an integrated women's wellness centre use one signature fragrance or multiple scent zones?
One signature fragrance, always - and then, separately, zones only where the building genuinely has more than one volume of air. Those are two different questions and running them together is what produces the plans I spend most of my time unpicking. Take the fragrance first, because it is simple: the profile never changes anywhere in the building. One clean, dry, cool register - white tea, a dry light citrus, soft dry woods - from the front door to the far end of every corridor, in every zone if you have more than one. A change of fragrance at an internal threshold tells a patient she has crossed from one business into another, and an integrated centre exists precisely to make that boundary invisible. Now zones, where the confusion lives. Founders use the word to mean a part of the plan they would like to feel different - the physiotherapy end, the wellness lounge, the far corner of a large waiting area. That is not a zone. A zone is a volume of air with a real boundary, and there are only three that count. Another floor. Its own AC wing, with separate supply and return rather than a shared loop. A sealed suite behind a door that actually stays shut, with its own circulation - a self-contained procedure or day-care wing, say. If a patient can walk from one part of your centre to another without opening a door, they are one zone. If the same air handler serves both, they are one zone even if there is a door. A second corner of the same room is never a zone, and a second department at the far end of one corridor is never a zone. Apply those tests to an integrated women's centre and the answer is almost always that you have exactly one, which means one machine: a SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999, wall or HVAC mounted on the shared reception and corridor path, at a low key-locked level. That is the total hardware line. Where a centre genuinely does have a second volume - a first-floor wellness and consultation level above a ground-floor clinical one, for instance - the second unit runs the same profile at the same level, because it is extending one signature into new air rather than starting a second identity. And the honest concession, which I give more often than any other in this cluster: if a corner of your one zone reads weak, the fix is to move or mount the existing source, not to buy a second machine - and if your single zone is a reception under about 750 sq ft, the correct buy is a SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899, not a Vaayu. Zoning also never overrides the exclusions: examination, scan, prenatal, postpartum, lactation and physiotherapy treatment rooms are at none in every zone, not at a lower setting, and one waiting seating group stays unscented by design. This is an ambience decision that makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside cleaning and ventilation rather than instead of them and is never used to mask a smell, and your clinical judgement overrides any plan in your own rooms. Ask for a clinic scenting plan and send the AC layout with the floor plan.

One machine per genuine volume

Count your genuine volumes first, then buy one machine for each. For most integrated centres that count is one, and these are the two honest options.

SOSA Vaayu
One volume with a reception and corridor
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ - about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, which is comfortably more than one integrated centre's shared areas use. Wall or HVAC mount, adjustable intensity, key-lock, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, under 38dB, 400ml tank at 90+ days a fill, auto-stop.
From ₹11,999
SOSA Sukoon
One volume that is really one reception
SOSA Sukoon
Ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft with three 15ml fragrances included. If your single zone is an open reception under about 750 sq ft, this is the correct buy at ₹1,899 and a Vaayu would be rated for several times the air you have.
From ₹1,899
SOSA Vaayu
One machine for one volume of air, whatever the plan calls it
SOSA Vaayu
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified - electrical and compliance marks, not medical approvals. Made in India.

The three tests for a real zone

Run these on your own floor plan before anybody quotes for a second machine. They take about five minutes.

1
Test the walk
If she gets there without opening a door, it is one zone
Stand at your reception and walk to the part of the building you were thinking of as a separate zone. If you did not open a door on the way, the air did not either, and there is no boundary to hold two levels apart. This is the test that eliminates most proposed zones in an integrated centre: the wellness end of a corridor, the far side of a large waiting area, the physiotherapy desk at the end of the passage. All of them are the same volume as reception. They may feel like different places, and feeling like a different place is not a scenting boundary. Distance from one source already gives you whatever variation those areas deserve.
Tip: Doors that are propped open all day are not doors for this purpose.
SOSA Vaayu
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.

2
Test the ductwork
A shared AC loop makes two rooms one volume
Ask your facilities engineer or the AC contractor one question: do these areas share a supply and return, or are they on separate systems? If they share, they are one volume regardless of doors, because the air handler is continuously mixing them. Central AC is the reason so many multi-room centres behave as a single space - and it is also the reason a mounted machine reaches further than founders expect. Anything to do with filtration, air changes or the mechanical system itself belongs to your facilities engineer, not to a fragrance supplier, and I would not advise on it. All I need to know is whether the loop is shared.
Tip: One question to the AC contractor settles this faster than any walkthrough.

3
Then extend, do not diversify
A second zone gets the same profile at the same level
If you do have a genuine second volume - a separate floor, its own AC wing, a sealed suite - it may take its own Vaayu at ₹11,999. What it does not get is its own fragrance or its own level. You are extending one signature into new air, not creating a second identity, and the key-lock is what keeps the two units from drifting apart as each floor's staff adapt to their own air. Set both from the same specification and have one named person own both. And every exclusion still applies in the new zone: clinical and treatment rooms at none, and one seating group unscented by design.

The SOSA principle
A zone is a volume of air with a boundary, not a part of the plan you would like to feel different. Almost every second machine I talk a centre out of was bought to serve a feeling rather than a volume.
Doors that are propped open all day, and a shared air handler, are the two things that quietly turn a proposed second zone back into the first one.
SOSA Vaayu
One volume, one machine: SOSA Vaayu on the shared reception and corridor path, rated well above what a single integrated centre uses. ₹11,999.

Zones, tested honestly

The proposals founders send me, and what the three tests do to each of them.

The SOSA plan
Is it really a second zone?
The proposal What to do
SOSA VaayuThe wellness end of the same corridor
Not a zone. No door, shared air, one volume. It already gets the same profile, weaker with distance, from the single source.
The far corner of a large waiting area
Not a zone. Never a second machine for a second corner of the same room - move or mount the existing source instead.
Consultation rooms off the corridor
Not a zone. They take a drift through the door and nothing added, and those that do examinations take nothing at all.
A first floor above the ground floor
A genuine zone. Its own volume, its own unit if the area justifies one - same profile, same level, one owner for both.
A wing on its own AC supply and return
A genuine zone, confirmed by the AC contractor rather than by the plan. Same profile, same level.
SOSA SukoonA sealed suite behind a door that stays shut
A genuine zone if the door really stays shut. Clinical and treatment rooms inside it are still at none, always.

If the reason you are considering zones is that clinical and wellness areas feel like they need different strengths, that is answered in whether clinical areas and wellness areas should have different fragrance intensities. And the whole method for a multi-service business, with scent as one cue among six, is in how to build a sensory brand identity for a multi-service women's healthcare business. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel.

SOSA Vaayu
Extending, not diversifying: A second genuine volume gets its own unit running the same profile at the same key-locked level. ₹11,999.
One fragrance, and one machine per real volume
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 covers up to 1000m³ - which is why one unit usually serves an entire integrated centre at a low setting.
See the SOSA Vaayu Book a scenting plan
Nearly every second machine I have talked a centre out of was bought to fix a feeling about a corner, and nearly every one of those corners was fixed by moving the first machine four metres.

The SOSA zoning specification

The specification is one machine per genuine volume of air, and for most integrated women's centres that number is one. Both machines are dry enough to sit near clinical work without adding humidity, and neither is a medical device. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

One fragrance in every zone without exception, and a second machine only for a genuinely separate volume of air - never for a second corner of the same room. Keep both or all units at one profile and one key-locked level owned by one named person, keep every examination, scan, prenatal, postpartum, lactation and treatment room at none in every zone, and keep one waiting seat unscented by design. Fragrance here is an ambience decision that makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside cleaning and ventilation rather than instead of them and is never used to mask a smell, and your own judgement as the treating clinician overrides any plan in your own rooms. A note from Sonal

I get sent a lot of zoning plans and most of them are really drawn from how the building feels rather than from where the air goes. The founder has marked the wellness end of the corridor as one zone and the clinical end as another, because those two ends of the building feel different to her - and they do feel different, and that has nothing to do with where the air goes. Air is settled by doors, ducts and floors. If you can walk between two places without opening a door, or if one air handler serves both, they are one volume and they take one machine.

Which is why my answer to this question is nearly always one fragrance and one zone. It is also why I would rather you sent the AC layout than the interior board. When somebody tells me a far corner smells of nothing, the fix in almost every case is to move the source or mount it into the supply, and mounting is free. A second machine in the same volume does not extend anything - it starts a second gradient, and the two meet in the middle at a level nobody chose.

Where a centre genuinely has a second volume - a first floor, a wing on its own AC, a sealed suite - then a second Vaayu at ₹11,999 is right, running the same profile at the same level, with one person owning both settings. If your single zone is a small reception, a Sukoon at ₹1,899 is the honest buy and I will say so. Clinical and treatment rooms get nothing at all in every zone, one waiting seat stays unscented on purpose, and any staff member can switch a machine off in seconds. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

One signature fragrance or multiple scent zones for an integrated women's wellness centre?
One signature fragrance, always - the profile never changes anywhere in the building. Zones are a separate question and a zone is a volume of air with a real boundary: another floor, its own AC wing with separate supply and return, or a sealed suite behind a door that stays shut. Most integrated centres have exactly one such volume, which means one machine.
What does not count as a scent zone?
A second corner of the same room, the far end of one corridor, a department that feels different from its neighbour, or an area behind a door that is propped open all day. If a patient can walk there without opening a door, or if the same air handler serves both areas, it is one volume. Feeling like a different place is not a scenting boundary, and it never justifies a second machine.
If one corner smells of nothing, should I add a second machine?
No. Move or mount the existing source first - a Vaayu can be wall mounted or fitted to the AC supply, which is how one profile reaches the far end of a corridor no free-standing unit serves. A second machine in the same volume does not extend the gradient, it starts a second one, and the two meet in the middle at a level nobody chose. Mounting is free; a machine is not.
If I do have two floors, does each get its own fragrance?
No. The second floor is a second volume, so it may take its own machine, but it runs the same profile at the same level. You are extending one signature into new air rather than starting a second identity. One named person should own both settings, and the key-lock keeps them from drifting apart as each floor's staff adapt to their own air.
What is the total hardware spend for a typical integrated centre?
One SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999, because most integrated centres have exactly one genuine volume of air. That unit covers up to 1000 cubic metres, which is more than a shared reception and corridor use, so it runs at a low setting rather than working hard. If your single zone is one reception under about 750 sq ft, a SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,899 is the correct buy instead.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.

Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with adjustable intensity, a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, operation under 38dB at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification, which are electrical and compliance marks and not medical approvals. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is an ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft and is supplied with three 15ml fragrances; the water-based Hotel Collection (₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799) is an ultrasonic fragrance and is not a refill for a waterless cold-air machine. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with 50ml lasting about 6-8 weeks and 130ml about 14-18 weeks. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml included and further refills should be confirmed with SOSA. Warranty, annual maintenance, installation and bulk terms are not published and should be confirmed before ordering. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and infection control and is never a substitute for any of them, it is never used to mask another smell, and no claim is made that fragrance influences a patient's decision or any commercial outcome. Clinical areas including procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms are left unscented, and the treating clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan in their own room. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference. Coverage, fragrance usage and running cost depend on the space, settings and hours of use, and are confirmed on a consultation.
