A reed that feels too mild isn't broken - it's doing precisely what a passive diffuser does. The upgrade that fixes 'too mild' isn't a stronger reed; it's a switch to active diffusion, which pushes scent across the room instead of waiting for it to drift.
Quick answers — read this first
My reed is too mild - what do I upgrade to? To active diffusion, not a stronger reed. The cordless, waterless SOSA Safar (₹3,999) atomises fragrance and pushes it out, so a personal room actually smells strong. For a large space, the Vaayu (₹11,999) does the same at scale.

Will more sticks make my reed less mild? Briefly and marginally. More sticks wick more oil, so it drains faster - but the reach barely changes. 'Mild' is the passive format at work, and adding sticks doesn't lift the ceiling.

Do I need the biggest diffuser to fix mildness? No. For a bedroom, the Safar comprehensively fixes 'too mild' at the right scale. The Vaayu is for large open rooms and would be overkill in a small one.
The short answer
Short answer: Upgrade from method, not product: 'too mild' is the passive reed doing its job, and the fix is active diffusion - the SOSA Safar (₹3,999) for a personal room, the Vaayu (₹11,999) for a large one.
How to choose: passive ambience in one room → a reed (from ₹749); strong, perfume-like projection in a personal/small room, on demand → the cordless SOSA Safar (₹3,999); room-filling projection across a genuinely large space → the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³). More reeds can't buy projection - the method has to change.
Shop: the Safar for a personal room, the Vaayu for a large space, and reed diffusers for passive ambience.
SOSA Safar - active waterless projection for a personal-sized room Projection is a method, not a scent A reed scents the air around it; for perfume-like throw you need active diffusion - Safar for a personal room, Vaayu for a large space Meet the Safar · ₹3,999
Straight answer
My reed diffuser is too mild - what should I upgrade to for a stronger room?
1. Reframe 'too mild'. Mild isn't a manufacturing fault or a weak oil. It's the honest output of passive diffusion, which was designed to be a soft background, not a strong presence. Naming it correctly points you at the right fix.

2. Understand why the reed stays mild. Reeds wick oil and it evaporates into the air right around the bottle, with no push behind it. So the scent is strongest at the source and fades fast - which reads as 'mild' anywhere you actually sit.

3. Upgrade the method to active diffusion. The fix for mildness is a diffuser that actively moves fragrance into the room. The SOSA Safar (₹3,999) is a cordless, rechargeable waterless cold-air diffuser that does exactly that - strong, perfume-like throw on demand.

4. Size the upgrade to the room. For a bedroom or study, the Safar is the right-sized cure. Only if the space is a large open living-dining or open floor does the Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³) make sense.

5. Keep control of the intensity. With the Safar you run it strong when you walk in and ease off later - so 'too mild' becomes 'as strong as I want, when I want it', not a permanent haze.

The pick: SOSA Safar (₹3,999) - active diffusion that fixes 'too mild' at personal scale. Vaayu only for large rooms.

Why 'too mild' is the format working, not failing

1
THE DIAGNOSIS
Mild is what passive does
Reed diffuser - passive Reed diffuser · passiveFrom ₹749 A reed diffuser is engineered to be gentle. Oil wicks up the sticks and evaporates slowly into the immediate air - a soft, steady, always-on background. There is no fan, no atomiser, nothing pushing the scent outward, so it's strongest at the bottle and mild everywhere else. If it feels too mild across the room, it isn't underperforming; it's performing exactly to spec. The spec is just the wrong one for what you want.
Tip: A reed that's mild at two metres is normal - that's the design, not a defect.
2
THE UPGRADE
Active diffusion isn't mild
SOSA Safar - waterless, cordless SOSA Safar · waterless, cordless₹3,999 The Safar changes the mechanism. As a waterless cold-air diffuser it atomises concentrated oil into a fine dry mist and pushes it into the room, so the fragrance travels and the whole space reads as scented - not just the shelf. Switch it on and a bedroom develops a genuine, enveloping presence in minutes. And because it's on-demand, 'too mild' is replaced by a dial you control: strong on entry, gentle later, off overnight.
Tip: It's the volume knob a reed never had.

RIGHT-SIZE
Don't over-correct into a giant
SOSA Vaayu - up to 1000m3 SOSA Vaayu · up to 1000m³₹11,999 Frustration with a mild reed can push you toward the biggest machine you can find. Resist it. The Vaayu nebuliser is built for up to 1000m³ - large open floors, halls, commercial spaces - and in a bedroom it would be more than the room needs. The Safar cures mildness at personal scale for a quarter of the price. Fix the mildness, don't overshoot it.
Tip: Bedroom, Safar. Large open floor, Vaayu.
SOSA Safar - cordless waterless diffuser with perfume-like projection
Perfume-like throw, personal scale SOSA Safar ₹3,999 The SOSA Safar is a cordless, rechargeable waterless cold-air diffuser - active diffusion that pushes fragrance across a room instead of waiting for it to drift. Built for the car and travel, it is exactly the right scale for a personal space: a bedroom, a study, a cabin. Switch it on when you want the room to smell strong, off when you don't. From mild to strong - the upgrade path

Every 'stronger reed' fix keeps you inside the passive ceiling. The real upgrade steps outside it.

Upgrade path
From a mild reed to a strong room
If you... The wrong fix The right upgrade
Add more reed sticks Burns oil faster, same reach Switch to active diffusion
Buy a 'stronger' reed oil Richer at the bottle, still local Safar - active, projects
Want a strong bedroom A bigger reed / more bottles SOSA Safar (₹3,999)
Want a strong large room A cluster of reeds SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999)
Want strong only when home An always-on reed Safar's on-demand cordless control
The projection ladder
Match the method to the throw you want - and the space you have
The SOSA principle
'Too mild' is not a weak fragrance. It's a passive method meeting an active-diffusion job. Change the method and mild disappears.
Upgrade the technology, then size it to the room.
SOSA Vaayu - waterless cold-air machine for large spaces
When the space is genuinely large SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 For a large living-dining, an open floor, a shop or a villa, the SOSA Vaayu is the waterless cold-air nebuliser built for it - up to 1000m³, with app and timer control. It is deliberately more machine than a single bedroom needs; below roughly a large hall, the Safar is the right-sized, better-value choice. See the Vaayu →
A mild reed isn't a failure to fix with more reeds. It's a signal to change what's doing the diffusing.

Which SOSA diffuser matches the projection you want?

Start from the honest question: do you want ambience, or projection? For ambience, a reed is perfect. For projection, the method has to be active - and which active diffuser is set by the size of your space. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Which SOSA diffuser matches the projection you want?
Match the method of diffusion to the throw you want - and the size of the space
What you actually want The method The SOSA product Best for
Soft, always-on background scent Passive - reeds wick & evaporate near the bottle Reed diffuser (from ₹749) Gentle ambience in one room; no power, no controls
Strong, perfume-like projection you can smell across the room, on demand Active - cordless, rechargeable waterless cold-air diffusion SOSA Safar (₹3,999) A personal / small space - bedroom, study, cabin, car; controllable
Room-filling projection across a genuinely large or open space Active - waterless cold-air nebuliser, app + timer SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³) Large living-dining, open floors, shops, offices, villas
An even, hotel-style scent without a big machine Active - ultrasonic cool-mist (water-based) Sukoon (₹1,799) / Boond (₹799) A steady room signature; gentler throw than the Safar
How to read this box: the honest thing first - you may not need a stronger fragrance; you may need a stronger method of diffusion. A reed is passive, so it can only ever scent the air right around it - adding sticks makes the oil finish faster, not the room smell stronger. Projection comes from active diffusion, and the right one is set by your space: the cordless, rechargeable Safar (₹3,999) for a personal/small room you can switch on and off, the Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³) only when the space is genuinely large. A Vaayu in a 120 sq ft bedroom is overkill; a reed in a big open hall is underkill. The Safar and Vaayu are waterless; the Sukoon/Boond are water-based ultrasonic. Everything is made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
SOSA reed diffuser - passive ambience for one room
If you actually want quiet ambience Reed Diffuser From ₹749 A reed diffuser is passive: the reeds wick oil and it evaporates into the air right around the bottle. That is perfect for a soft, always-on background in one room - but it is physically not built to project across a space, no matter how many reeds you add. If ambience is the goal, it is the elegant, no-power answer; if projection is the goal, you have outgrown the format. Shop reeds →

Frequently asked questions

Would a bigger 130ml reed be less mild?
It lasts longer and can feel a bit richer at the bottle, but it won't project further - the passive physics is the same. For a room that isn't mild, upgrade to the active Safar (₹3,999) rather than a bigger reed.
Could my reed just be old or the oil evaporated?
That can make an old reed milder still, but a fresh one at full strength will also feel mild across a room - because the format is local by design. If mildness at distance is the issue, the fix is method, not a refill.
Is the Safar strong enough on its own, or do I pair it with reeds?
On its own it comprehensively fixes a mild bedroom. You can keep a reed elsewhere for ambience, but you won't need to prop up the Safar - active diffusion is the stronger tool by a wide margin.
Won't the Safar be too strong then?
Only if you leave it on high; it's on-demand and cordless, so you set the intensity. That's the point - you move from 'stuck on mild' to 'as strong as I choose'.
Is a Sukoon a gentler upgrade if I don't want it too intense?
Yes - the Sukoon (₹1,799) is active but water-based, with a softer throw than the waterless Safar. It's a nice middle step, though for a decisive cure to 'too mild' the Safar projects more.
Fix the mildness
'Too mild' isn't a scent problem. It's a method problem.
The cordless, waterless SOSA Safar is the active upgrade that makes a personal room actually smell strong - on demand.

Editorial standards & sources
About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. The principle here is about the physics of diffusion: passive reeds evaporate fragrance into the air immediately around them, while active diffusers project it across a space. "Projection", "throw" and "sillage" describe how far a scent travels; how far any diffuser reaches depends on the room size, layout, ventilation and airflow, so treat coverage figures as guidance, not guarantees. No fragrance or diffuser is claimed to be therapeutic or to purify air.
