Why ordinary fresheners overwhelm a sensitive nose
When someone tells me fresheners give them a headache, I almost always trace it to two things - and neither is the scent they actually hoped to smell.
The two usual culprits

The alcohol carrier. Most cheap sprays are mostly solvent. In a closed cabin at 65 to 70 degrees the alcohol evaporates first and hits hardest - the sharp note that catches your throat before anything pleasant arrives.
