This is the question I get asked most often by owners, and it is almost always asked the wrong way round. People want to know whether ₹11,999 is a lot of money for a scent machine, when the only question that can actually be answered is whether their building is the kind of building that needs one.
Quick answers — read this first
Is a commercial scent machine worth buying for a kitchen showroom? It depends entirely on cubic volume and air path, and for a large share of the people who ask me, the answer is no. A single-room studio does not need a machine rated to 1000m³ - it needs a ₹1,899 Sukoon, or a ₹849 reed if you would rather have no schedule at all. A Vaayu becomes a specification once you have an entrance, a consultation room or central air handling and one source has to reach all of it.

What does the expensive machine actually buy me? Four things, and none of them is coverage: control (timers on trading hours, adjustable intensity), no water added to the room, distribution (wall or HVAC mounting reaches places a table-top unit cannot), and uptime (a 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, under 38dB). Two of those four is a specification. One is a preference. None of them is ₹1,899 well spent.

What is the actual total? Under about 750 sq ft: one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899, or one Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849. From roughly 1,500 sq ft: one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999, one machine, supplied with 400ml of oil. That is the whole hardware bill - total ₹11,999, or ₹1,899, depending on which building you have.
The short answer
Short answer: it depends on cubic volume and air path rather than on turnover, and for a large share of showrooms the honest answer is a ₹1,899 Sukoon or an ₹849 reed. A Vaayu at ₹11,999 earns its price once there is an entrance, a consultation room or central AC and one source has to reach all of them - and no one can promise it moves a business number.
The pick: one SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) for a single-room studio, and one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) once the showroom has more than one volume of air to reach.
Next step: send your floor plan with the ceiling height written on it, and we will tell you honestly which of the two you need - including when the answer is neither - Ask for a retail scenting plan.
Is it worth buying? - the decision in five linesWorth is decided by your room, not by the machineUnder 750 sq ft the honest buy is ₹1,899, not ₹11,999Coverage is never the reason - control and reach areTotal: ₹1,899 one way, ₹11,999 the otherNo supplier can promise you a business number
Do the cubic arithmetic before you look at any price. A machine rated to 1000m³ in a room of 140m³ is not a better result - it is money spent on capacity you cannot use.
The two honest answers - tap to see the specification
Straight answer
Is a commercial scent machine actually worth buying for a modular kitchen showroom?
Honestly, for a good number of the owners who write to me, no - and I would rather say that at the start than at the end. The question cannot be answered by looking at the machine, because worth here is a property of your building rather than of the hardware. So begin with the arithmetic. Measure length by width by height in metres and get a cubic volume: a 500 sq ft studio at a ten-foot ceiling is roughly 142m³, 750 sq ft is about 212m³, 1,000 sq ft about 283m³. The SOSA Vaayu is rated to 1000m³. If your showroom is one room of 142m³, you would be buying seven times the capacity you have, and the machine would spend its life on its lowest setting doing what a much cheaper one does comfortably. At that size the honest answer is one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899, or one Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 if you would rather have a baseline with no schedule to manage. A Vaayu at that size would be the wrong buy and I will not sell you one. Now the other direction, because there are buildings where ₹11,999 is straightforwardly correct, and the reason is never coverage. It is these four: control - timers set to your trading hours and an intensity you dial rather than guess; no water - it is waterless, so nothing is added to the air of a room full of finishes, which is a fact about the machine and not a claim about your laminates, a question only their manufacturer can answer; distribution - it wall-mounts or goes into your air handling, so an entrance, a display floor and a closed consultation room can share one source instead of three; and uptime - a 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, under 38dB, so it never intrudes on a ninety-minute consultation and nobody has to remember it exists. Score yourself against those four. Two or more and the machine is a specification; one is a preference; none and you are buying a logo. One more gate before any of it: if your showroom still smells of laminate, adhesive or new joinery, buy nothing yet - that is a ventilation and curing problem, fragrance never covers another smell, and you would end up with both. And plainly, since this is a money question: no one can promise you that ambient scent moves footfall, enquiries, order value or a customer's decision, and a supplier who offers you a figure is selling. Ask for a retail scenting plan and send the plan with the ceiling height on it.
Worth is decided by cubic volume and air path, not by turnover. One room under about 750 sq ft: ₹1,899, or ₹849 for a reed. An entrance, a display floor and a consultation room on one source: ₹11,999, one machine, and no promises about your business numbers.
Where the building justifies it, the machine is one SOSA Vaayu - waterless, rated to 1000m³, 400ml running 90+ days a fill, app timers, key-lock, under 38dB. ₹11,999, one machine, nothing else to buy on day one. Under about 750 sq ft, buy the Sukoon at ₹1,899 instead and spend the difference on lighting.

The machine, by what your building actually is

Two answers, and which one is yours is decided by volume and by how many separate bodies of air the showroom contains. The images link to the product pages so you can check the specifications yourself before ordering anything.

SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, roughly 2,000-3,000 sq ft. 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, auto-stop and key-lock. Freestanding, wall or HVAC mountable, which is the feature that actually justifies the price.

SOSA Sukoon
One room under about 750 sq ft - buy this instead
SOSA Sukoon
Ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft, supplied with three 15ml fragrances. For a single-room studio this is the honest buy, and it is the recommendation I make most often in this category despite costing a sixth of the alternative.
From ₹1,899
SOSA Vaayu
The machine that earns its price on reach rather than on coverage
SOSA Vaayu
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Made in India. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml and further supply should be confirmed with SOSA.

The three tests that decide it

Run these in order. Most owners who ask me this question fail the first one and never need to reach the third.

1
Do the cubic arithmetic first
A machine rated to 1000m³ in a room of 142m³ is not a better result
You scent volume rather than floor area, so start with metres. A 500 sq ft studio at a normal ceiling is roughly 142m³; 750 sq ft about 212m³; 2,000 sq ft about 566m³. Kitchen experience centres often have double-height ceilings, which can quietly double the figure your floor plan suggests - so measure the height rather than assuming it. If the number that comes out is a small fraction of 1000m³ and the space is one room, the ₹11,999 is buying rated capacity you have no way of using. Buy the ₹1,899 machine and put the difference into the lighting over your displays, which does more visible work.
Tip: Any supplier who sizes your showroom in square feet alone has skipped this step.
SOSA Sukoon
One Sukoon ₹1,899, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
See SOSA Sukoon →
2
Count the bodies of air, not the rooms
A second machine belongs to a second volume, never to a second corner
Walk the building and ask where air actually travels. An open display floor with an entrance at one end is one volume, and one source upstream on the air path does all of it. A closed consultation room with its own door and its own AC is a second volume. A first floor is almost always a second volume. This count is what decides whether you need distribution - and distribution is the honest reason a Vaayu exists, because it wall-mounts and goes into air handling where a table-top unit simply sits on a table. If you have exactly one volume and it is small, you have your answer already.
Tip: Two machines in one shared volume do not add up; they meet, and the meeting point is a seam in an aisle.
SOSA Vaayu
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.

3
Check what the room smells of today
If it still smells of its own fit-out, the answer is ₹0 for now
Laminate, adhesive, MDF and new joinery off-gas for weeks, and every new display you install restarts part of that clock. Fragrance never covers another smell - two smells in one airspace combine rather than cancel, so you would be buying plywood and fragrance instead of just plywood. The fix is ventilation, fresh-air handling and time, and a new showroom should trade unscented until it has gone. This is the single most common reason I tell an owner to spend nothing this quarter, and nobody has ever been unhappy about it afterwards. Come back when the room smells of nothing in particular.
SOSA Vaayu
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
See SOSA Vaayu →
The SOSA principle
You cannot decide whether a machine is worth ₹11,999 by looking at the machine. Worth here is a property of the room - its cubic volume, its air path and how many separate bodies of air it contains - and the room is the thing nobody measures before asking for a quotation.
Which is why the most useful thing I do in this conversation is send people away with a tape measure.
SOSA Vaayu
The cheaper answer, said out loud: SOSA Sukoon covers roughly 270-320 sq ft and comes with three 15ml fragrances. For a single-room studio it is the correct buy at ₹1,899.

The costed plan, both ways

Here are the two plans in full, with the totals named, so you can hold your own building up against them.

The SOSA plan
What to buy, and what it comes to
Your building What to do
SOSA Mountain Breeze reed diffuserUnder about 300 sq ft, one room
One Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849, flipped weekly, nothing to schedule and nothing to switch off. Total ₹849.
SOSA Sukoon300-750 sq ft, one room
One Sukoon at ₹1,899 on the display floor. A Vaayu here would be the wrong buy and I would tell you so. Total ₹1,899.
750-1,500 sq ft
The decision point. Sukoon if it is one open room; Vaayu once there is an entrance, a consultation room or central AC to mount into.
1,500-3,000 sq ft
One Vaayu, correctly placed on the air path, run low on a trading-hours timer. Total hardware spend ₹11,999.
Still smelling of the fit-out
Nothing. Ventilate, run the air handling on fresh air, give it weeks, trade unscented. Total ₹0 this quarter.

If you are weighing the two cheapest options against each other, the head-to-head is set out in reed diffuser vs waterless scent machine, which explains why a bigger bottle buys months rather than metres. And if you would like the arithmetic in full before you decide anything, how to calculate the right scent-machine capacity is the method written out step by step. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel.

SOSA Vaayu
What the price actually buys: SOSA Vaayu wall-mounts or goes into air handling, so an entrance and a consultation room share one source rather than three. ₹11,999.
Buy the room you have, not the room on the brochure
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 up to 1000m³ - and SOSA Sukoon ₹1,899 where that is the honest answer.
See the SOSA Vaayu Book a scenting plan
I have talked more people out of the ₹11,999 machine in this category than I have sold it to, and the ones I talked out of it are the reason the ones I sold it to trusted me.

The SOSA kitchen-showroom specification

Three products cover almost every showroom that asks me this, and two of them cost under ₹2,000. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately, so the Vaayu's 400ml runs 90+ days a fill and further supply should be confirmed with SOSA before you commit to anything larger than one machine. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Buy on volume and air path, not on the size of the business. Ambient scent here is a presentation decision like lighting or display styling; it is never used to cover another smell - not laminate, not adhesive, not cooking - and it is never a substitute for ventilation, extraction or cleaning. Warranty, AMC, installation, bulk pricing, GST and corporate invoicing terms are not published and should be confirmed with SOSA. And plainly: no one can promise you that ambient scent moves footfall, enquiries or order value, and a supplier quoting you a figure is selling. Ask for a retail scenting plan before you spend anything.

A note from Sonal

Owners almost always open this conversation with a number - is ₹11,999 reasonable for a scent machine - and I almost always have to move them off it, because the number is not the variable. I have no idea whether ₹11,999 is reasonable for your showroom until I know how many cubic metres of air you are trying to reach and how many separate bodies of air that is. Those two facts decide it, and both are free to establish with a tape measure and a walk around the building.

When I do the sums with people, the outcome surprises them roughly half the time. A great many premium-looking studios turn out to be one room of a hundred and fifty cubic metres, and a machine rated to a thousand is simply the wrong tool - not too expensive, wrong. The Vaayu earns its price on reach and control rather than on coverage: it goes on a wall or into your air handling, it runs on your trading hours, it locks so the level cannot creep up, and it holds 400ml for 90+ days a fill. If none of that describes a problem you actually have, you do not have the problem the machine solves.

So: under 300 sq ft, a Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849. One room to 750 sq ft, a Sukoon at ₹1,899. An entrance, a floor and a consultation room from about 1,500 sq ft, a Vaayu at ₹11,999. And if the room still smells of adhesive, none of them, yet. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Is a commercial scent machine worth buying for my modular kitchen showroom?
It depends on cubic volume and air path rather than on turnover. A single-room studio under about 750 sq ft is honestly served by a Sukoon at Rs 1,899, or a reed at Rs 849, and a Vaayu would be the wrong buy. From roughly 1,500 sq ft, where there is an entrance, a display floor and a consultation room to reach from one source, a Vaayu at Rs 11,999 becomes a specification rather than an indulgence.
What does the Vaayu buy me that a cheaper diffuser does not?
Four things, and coverage is not one of them. Control, through app timers on your trading hours, adjustable intensity and a key-lock. No water added to the room, because it is waterless. Distribution, because it wall-mounts or goes into air handling and can reach separate rooms from one source. And uptime, from a 400ml tank running 90 days or more a fill at under 38dB. Score two of four and it is justified.
Will a scent machine bring more customers into my showroom?
No one can promise that and I will not. SOSA has run no research that would support such a figure, and there is no honest way to separate ambient scent from the twenty other things a customer experiences in a ninety-minute visit. A supplier who offers you a number is selling. The question worth answering is whether the air in your showroom is coherent with the displays, the lighting and the price of the kitchens.
My showroom is 600 sq ft. Should I still buy the bigger machine?
No. At 600 sq ft you have roughly 170 cubic metres of air, and the Vaayu is rated to 1000 cubic metres, so you would be paying for capacity you cannot use. One Sukoon at Rs 1,899 on the display floor is the correct answer, and if you would rather have no schedule to manage at all, one Mountain Breeze reed at Rs 849 gives you a quiet baseline instead.
What are the running costs of a commercial scent machine?
The electricity is small and calculable: the Vaayu draws 5W, so on a ten-hour daily schedule that is about 1.5 units a month, multiplied by whatever your own tariff per unit happens to be. The oil side cannot be quoted honestly. SOSA has not measured monthly consumption, no cold-air refill is sold separately today, and the 400ml supplied runs 90 days or more a fill. Confirm continuity of supply with SOSA before budgeting.
SOSA Vaayu
Uptime you never have to think about: A 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill and under 38dB, so nobody on the floor is managing it during a consultation. ₹11,999.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.

Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with adjustable intensity, a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, operation under 38dB at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification, which are electrical and compliance marks and not medical approvals. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is an ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft and is supplied with three 15ml fragrances; the water-based Hotel Collection (₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799) is an ultrasonic fragrance and is not a refill for a waterless cold-air machine. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with 50ml lasting about 6-8 weeks and 130ml about 14-18 weeks. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml included and further refills should be confirmed with SOSA. Warranty, annual maintenance, installation and bulk terms are not published and should be confirmed before ordering. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and infection control and is never a substitute for any of them, it is never used to mask another smell, and no claim is made that fragrance influences a patient's decision or any commercial outcome. Clinical areas including procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms are left unscented, and the treating clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan in their own room. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference.
