Will an attar smell like the fresh fragrance I already own? No, and nothing on this site is built to. A note list is a description of an intention, so even two fragrances sharing a note list can read completely differently on skin, and these do not share one. Adaa shares a direction with a fresh aromatic - bright at the start, clean at the end - and parts company in the middle. Treat it as a second fragrance you might enjoy rather than as a substitute for the one you know, and the purchase becomes much easier to judge.
What should I buy first if I am moving from sprays to oils? The 3ml, every time. It holds the same liquid as the larger sizes, costs ₹379 to ₹399 depending on the composition, and it is the only size that makes sense for a fragrance you have not worn. A week on your own skin tells you more than every description on this page put together, and if the answer turns out to be no, you have spent the price of a coffee and a half finding out.
First, split the accord in half. "Fresh aromatic" is two accords sharing one label, and almost nobody separates them before buying. The fresh half is the lift at the top: bergamot, lemon, grapefruit, sometimes a green or peppery sparkle - the part that reads as clean air and makes the first ten minutes feel bright. The aromatic half is the herb garden in the middle: lavender, clary sage, rosemary, geranium, basil, sometimes mint. Those materials are what give the style its dry, slightly bitter, grey-green character, and they are the reason a fresh aromatic smells groomed rather than sweet. Decide which half you would miss more, because the two halves have very different answers in an oil.
What SOSA actually has. One of the four is built on a fresh opening and it is Adaa: bergamot at the top, green cardamom beside it, jasmine sambac in the heart, white musk underneath. That gives you a genuine citrus lift and a clean close, which are the two things a fresh aromatic wearer tends to describe as "the reason I wear it". Adaa is also the lightest of the four, so it asks less adjustment from somebody used to a bright spray than any other bottle on this site. The sizes are 3ml at ₹379, 6ml at ₹669 and 12ml at ₹1,149, the same liquid in all three.
What is simply absent, and I am not going to dress it up. There is no lavender in the SOSA range. No sage, no rosemary, no geranium, no basil, no mint. The herb-garden middle that defines the aromatic half of your accord does not exist in any of the four compositions, and no amount of careful description will put it there. So the arc you will get from Adaa is bright to clean - citrus and green cardamom opening into a white floral and settling on musk - rather than the bright to herbal arc you are used to. That is a different fragrance, not a smaller version of the same one.
Green cardamom is the nearest neighbour, and it is not a herb. Cardamom in its green form reads dry, cool and slightly camphorous, and it does some of the work an aromatic note does: it keeps the citrus from going sweet and gives the opening an edge. If you like your fresh fragrances on the dry side, that is the detail to pay attention to. But cardamom is a spice and it behaves like one. It is pointed rather than leafy, and it fades into the jasmine rather than holding a long herbal middle the way lavender does.
Then there is the format, which changes more than the notes do. An attar is undiluted oil on a jojoba carrier, alcohol-free, applied as one dab at a pulse point with the built-in applicator. There is no propellant and no cloud, so the fragrance sits close to you and is met by people who come close to you. SOSA publishes one wear figure for all four attars - 6-8 hours on skin, longer on warm or oily skin - and I am not going to tell you how that compares with the bottle you own, because I have not measured your bottle and neither has anybody else who would tell you. An oil is a different shape of fragrance. It is not automatically more of one.
So the honest recommendation. Buy the Adaa 3ml at ₹379 and wear it for a week on your own skin, in your own weather, before you buy a size. If what comes back is "this is bright and clean and I like it", you have found your attar and the 6ml at ₹669 is the next purchase. If what comes back is "I miss the dry middle", you have learned something worth far more than ₹379: the aromatic half was the part you loved, and you should keep wearing the spray that gives it to you. Using your own shelf to predict a family goes through that translation in more detail, and the words that actually mean clean is worth a read before you shop, because "fresh" is doing at least four jobs in this category.
What transfers from a fresh aromatic, and what does not
Three things decide whether this move works for you, and the first one is a question about your own taste that only you can answer.
Reading the four against a fresh aromatic brief
Adaa is the only one of the four with a fresh opening, and that makes it the obvious starting point: bergamot and green cardamom at the top, jasmine sambac in the heart, white musk at the base, 3ml ₹379. Read it as a bright white-floral rather than as a herbal fragrance and you will be close to what arrives. The other three move in the opposite direction from your shelf. Mastani is night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose over oudh. Ameeri is Taif rose with Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron and a soft oudh. Nawaab is white royal oud, sandalwood, saffron, pepper, cardamom, aged tobacco leaf, amber, leather and white musk, and it is the deepest thing we make.
| Option | When it is the right call |
|---|---|
| Adaa 3ml, ₹379 |
The nearest in shape · bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk Trade-off: No herbal middle, so bright-to-clean rather than bright-to-herbal |
| Keep the spray, add the attar |
The honest answer if the herbs are the part you love · two fragrances, two jobs Trade-off: You are buying a second fragrance, not solving a problem |
| Ameeri or Mastani 3ml, ₹385 and ₹389 |
Worth knowing about · rose and sandalwood, or jasmine and rose over oudh Trade-off: Both move away from fresh, so buy them on purpose and not as a substitute |
| The trio, ₹1,055 at 3ml |
Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani together · the three deeper ones Trade-off: Adaa is not in it, which makes it the wrong bundle for this reader |
None of that is a reason to avoid the other three forever - plenty of people wear a bright spray in the day and something deep in the evening, and an attar is an easy way to own the second one. But it is a reason not to buy them as a replacement for what you already wear. If your whole shelf is fresh and you buy Nawaab expecting a fresher version of it, you will have bought the most interesting bottle in the range and the least like anything you own. That page exists too: choosing something deliberately different is the argument for doing it on purpose rather than by accident.
The SOSA attar range
Every SOSA attar is alcohol-free and IFRA-compliant on a jojoba carrier with no DPG, hand-blended in small batches in Pune. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. There are four, and the honest way to read them is by depth - how much the base note is doing.
| Attar | Built on | What it is, honestly | 3ml |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adaa | Bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk | The lightest of the four and the easiest first attar. Jasmine sambac is mogra, so this is also the mogra answer | ₹379 |
| Ameeri | Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron, soft oudh | The warm one. Rose and sandalwood doing most of the work, with the oudh kept soft | ₹385 |
| Mastani | Night-blooming jasmine, Damask rose, oudh | The most floral. A different jasmine and a different rose from Adaa and Ameeri | ₹389 |
| Nawaab | White royal oud, sandalwood, saffron, tobacco leaf, amber, leather | The deepest in the range. Not a first attar unless you already know you like oud | ₹399 |
| The trio | Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani together | Three of the four at once. The honest answer when you cannot choose and will not guess | ₹1,055 |
Four honest notes. A note list is not a smell. Every composition above is described in the words we would use ourselves, and those words still cannot tell you how it will sit on your skin - which is the whole reason the 3ml exists. On the sizes: 3ml, 6ml and 12ml are the same liquid, and the only reason to buy the larger ones is that you already know. If you have not worn it, buy the smallest and let it earn the upgrade. On wear: all four are 6-8 hours on skin, longer on warm or oily skin, and that is the only figure we publish. We do not publish a drop count, a per-application cost, or a comparison with how long anybody else's fragrance lasts - including sprays. On what we do not make: there is no standalone musk, sandalwood, amber, tuberose, vetiver, khus, aquatic or tobacco attar in this range. Four compositions is the whole range, and where your answer is not one of them, this page will say so rather than talk you into the nearest thing.
Versailles
Attars are the part of this business where the marketing is worst, and I would like ours to be the boring, accurate version. Most of the category sells a bottle on adjectives - royal, exotic, hypnotic, long-lasting - and on numbers nobody has measured. You cannot smell any of it before you pay, so the words are doing all the work, and almost nobody writes them honestly.
So here is what I will and will not tell you. I will tell you what is in each of the four, in the order you meet it, and that they wear 6-8 hours on my skin. I will not tell you that one of them smells expensive, or that it will turn heads, or that it lasts twelve hours, because I cannot know the first two about you and have not measured the third. The honest sequence is: read the notes, buy the 3ml, wear it for a week, and only then buy a size. If none of our four matches what you have described to yourself, I would rather say so than sell you the nearest one.
The other thing worth knowing is how little you need. An attar is concentrated oil, and the commonest mistake is wearing it like a spray - a long press at the neck and another at the wrists. One dab at a pulse point is the dose. Two if you want it read across a dinner table. Do not rub it in; oil opens with warmth, and rubbing crushes the top of it. That is the entire dial, and most people never need the top of it. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

What this guide does not claim.
- An attar is a fragrance and nothing else.
- - it names what a composition is built from and the order you meet it in, which is a description of an intention rather than a measurement, and it is
- . Nothing here should be read as advice about health, allergies or anyone's wellbeing, and no fragrance on this page is claimed to affect anybody's mood, comfort, confidence or state of mind. Where a reader describes a preference none of our four compositions matches, these guides say so and sell nothing.

On wear.
- SOSA publishes one figure:
- . SOSA does not publish a drop count, a cost per application, a projection rating, or any comparison with how long another format or another company's fragrance lasts. Where a customer review reports a different number, that is one person's experience of their own skin and not a measurement SOSA stands behind.
On what is in the bottle.
- The composition lists above name the materials a fragrance is built from. They are not a statement of grade, percentage or geographic origin, and this guide makes no claim about either. Where origin or grade matters to you, ask before you buy - that is a fair question and the answer belongs to the product page rather than to an article.
On other companies.
- Where another fragrance brand is named in these guides it is because a reader named it, and the page answers what they asked. Nothing here states what any other company's product contains, how long it lasts, what it costs or how it performs.
- , and no other company has reviewed or approved this content. If a product you already own suits you, keep it - several pages in this guide say exactly that.
On availability.
- SOSA is an online fragrance house and ships across India; it holds no retail counters, and no delivery window is quoted here. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Prices and availability change - see the live product pages.
