The careful answer to this question begins with something I will not say. I will not tell you any SOSA bottle is free of all three things you dislike, because cedarwood and oud are both in the range. What I can do is tell you exactly where each one is, and which bottle keeps the quietest company.
Quick answers — read this first
Is there cedarwood or oud in SOSA's woody attars? Yes to both. Cedarwood is in the base of SOSA Adaa, which has no oudh. Oud is in SOSA Ameeri (soft oudh), SOSA Mastani (oudh) and SOSA Nawaab (oud-led). No pyramid lists a smoke note.

Which woody attar suits someone who dislikes strong cedarwood and oud? SOSA Ameeri, from ₹385 for 3ml. Indian sandalwood in the heart, no cedarwood anywhere in the pyramid, and soft oudh in the base. The oudh is there and published as soft.

What if I cannot accept any oud at all? Then no SOSA sandalwood attar fits, because all three carry some. SOSA Adaa has no oudh but has cedarwood, and SOSA Khayaal, a perfume oil with amberwood, lists neither cedarwood nor oud.
The short answer
Short answer: Ameeri: Indian sandalwood in the heart, no cedarwood, and soft oudh in the base. Soft oudh is present, and I will not pretend it is not.
The pick: One 3ml of SOSA Ameeri at ₹385, one dab, judged at hour three. If oud is a flat no, take SOSA Adaa at ₹379 and judge its cedarwood instead.
Next step: Tell us which of the three is your hardest no and what you have worn that crossed the line, and we will say which bottle fits. Ask for an attar recommendation.
Cedarwood, smoke, oud: where each one sitsCedarwood: in Adaa's base only, with vetiver and muskOud: soft in Ameeri, oud-led in Nawaab, in Mastani tooSmoke: no pyramid lists it; Nawaab has tobacco, leatherAmeeri: sandalwood heart, soft oudh, no cedarwood at allAmeeri from Rs 385 for 3ml; judge it at hour three
Your three dislikes, and where each one actually sits in the range. Cedarwood is on the first line because it is the one Adaa carries, and the 3ml price of Ameeri is on the last.
Ameeri first; Adaa if oud is the harder no; Mastani to know it
Straight answer
I Love Woody Perfumes but Dislike Strong Cedarwood, Smoke and Oud — Which Soft Woody Attars Should I Investigate?
Ameeri is the closest, and it is not a clean sweep. It has no cedarwood and no smoke note, and it does have soft oudh. Here is the inventory and the reasoning in five steps, with the cedarwood and the oud both stated.

1. Know where the three sit. Cedarwood is in Adaa's base, and only there. Oud is in Ameeri (soft oudh), Mastani (oudh) and Nawaab (oud-led). No SOSA pyramid lists a smoke note, though Nawaab has aged tobacco leaf and leather.

2. Take Ameeri. SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 puts Indian sandalwood in the heart, under Taif rose, over soft oudh, amber and white musk. There is no cedarwood in it, no smoke note, and an oudh that is published as soft.

3. Be honest that the oudh is there. It is quiet, it is the only one of the three oud-carrying attars published as soft, and it is not absent. Judge it at hour three, when the base is what is left on your skin.

4. Do not take Adaa for this brief unseen. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 has no oudh at all, and it does have cedarwood, in the base beside vetiver and white musk. If oud is your harder no, it is the exit, and cedarwood is what you test.

5. Know the third exit. SOSA Khayaal, a perfume oil of sparkling bergamot, neroli, black tea and amberwood, lists neither cedarwood nor oud. It is lightly woody, not a woody fragrance, and I say so in advance.

I cannot promise how any of this reads on your skin, and no fragrance page honestly can. What I can promise is that every material named here is on the published pyramids, and that a 3ml will show you the rest.
Ameeri at ₹385 has Indian sandalwood, no cedarwood, no smoke note and a soft oudh that is there. Cedarwood is in Adaa. Oud is in Mastani and Nawaab too. One 3ml, one dab, hour three.
What to buy if you love woody and dislike cedarwood, smoke and oud
The product SOSA Ameeri, with Indian sandalwood in the heart, no cedarwood and no smoke note. Soft oudh and amber sit in the base. An alcohol-free, DPG-free roll-on oil on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier.
The size to start on The 3ml, at ₹385. The 6ml at ₹679 and the 12ml at ₹1,165 are for after you have worn it and the oudh has stayed quiet for you on three separate days.
Dabs, and where One dab, on the chest or the inner wrist. One dab is a whisper and two is a sentence. With soft oudh in the base, stay on the whisper for the whole test, so you are judging the oudh and not the dose.
At hour three What remains by the published pyramid is Indian sandalwood with soft oudh, amber and white musk. If the oudh bothers you it will show now, and if it does, Adaa is the exit and Ameeri was the right test.
What it costs to stay on it Nothing, for now. The 3ml is the whole commitment. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin, and a bottle that size is enough for three ordinary days. Adaa at ₹379 is the second try, only if needed.
I would start you on Ameeri and I would tell you about the oudh first, because it is there. It is soft, it sits under sandalwood and rose, and there is no cedarwood anywhere in the bottle. If oud is a flat no for you, say so now and I will point you at Adaa and its cedarwood.

The two woody attars, exactly

Two SOSA attars are the real candidates for a woody reader with these dislikes, and each one trips a different wire. All four attars are alcohol-free, DPG-free roll-on oils in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. The cards below set out what is in each one, including the thing you were hoping would not be.

SOSA Ameeri
The quiet-oudh route: sandalwood, no cedarwood
SOSA Ameeri
₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml. Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. No cedarwood and no smoke note. The oudh is real and published as soft, and the wood sits above it under a rose. Quietness is what it offers, not absence.
From ₹385
SOSA Adaa
The no-oud route, with cedarwood in the base
SOSA Adaa
₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml. Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. No oudh at all, and cedarwood is one of its three base notes. Do not take it for this brief without knowing that.
From ₹379
SOSA Nawaab
The oud-led attar, with tobacco and leather where smoke sits
SOSA Nawaab · alcohol-free roll-on attar
₹399 for 3ml, ₹699 for 6ml, ₹1,199 for 12ml. White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf over amber, leather and white musk. Oud-led, with tobacco leaf and leather where smoke would sit. Cedarwood is not listed; the oud leads and the other materials sit close to your smoke worry. For this brief it is the one to pass over.

Three dislikes are three different materials

None of these is a promise about your nose. Each is a distinction, readable on a pyramid, that keeps the three words in your sentence from collapsing into one and sending you to the wrong bottle.

1
One
Smoke is an impression, not a note on the list
Cedarwood and oud are materials, and they are named on pyramids. Smoke mostly is not. It is what some noses report when aged tobacco, leather, a lead oud or burnt-wood materials sit together, and it depends on the nose as much as on the oil. No SOSA pyramid lists a smoke note, and I will not claim that means no nose will ever find any. What the pyramids do show is where the nearest materials sit: Nawaab, with white royal oud, aged tobacco leaf and leather, has the most. Ameeri has none of the tobacco or the leather.
Tip: If you have a smoky fragrance in mind, note which of its materials you would name, and check them against the pyramid.
SOSA Nawaab
Nawaab at ₹399 has tobacco leaf, leather and a lead oud. If smoke is the real enemy, it is the one to pass.
See SOSA Nawaab →
2
Two
Soft and present are not opposites
Ameeri's base is published as soft oudh, amber and white musk. Soft oudh means it is not the lead: the sandalwood and the rose are the heart and the oudh is underneath them, with amber and musk for company. It does not mean the oudh is absent, and on some skins a base note reads more than the label suggests. I cannot tell you that yours will not. I can say that of the three oud-carrying attars, Ameeri is the only one whose pyramid uses the word soft.
Tip: Do not judge the oudh at hour one. It is a base note, and hour three is when it is finally what is left.
SOSA Ameeri
Ameeri at ₹385 puts sandalwood and Taif rose over a soft oudh. It is the only oud in the range published as soft.
See SOSA Ameeri →
3
Three
Cedarwood in Adaa is a base note, and you should know that
Adaa is the one attar with no oudh, which makes it tempting for this brief, and it is also the one attar with cedarwood. It sits in the base with vetiver and white musk, below bergamot, cardamom, neroli and three white flowers. I will not tell you that cedarwood is faint in it, because I have no published figure for strength and you asked about strong. What I can say is that it is one of three base notes and not the lead. Whether that is too much cedarwood for you is a 3ml question.
Tip: If strong cedarwood is the thing you have disliked before, say which fragrance it was and we will compare its pyramid with Adaa's.
SOSA Adaa
Adaa at ₹379 has no oudh and no sandalwood note, and its base is white musk, vetiver and cedarwood.
See SOSA Adaa →
The SOSA principle
A brief with three dislikes can be satisfied by absence or by quietness. This range can offer absence only from a perfume oil that is barely woody, and quietness from the attar that is.
That is why Ameeri is the answer and not a perfect one. It keeps the wood you love, drops the cedarwood and the smoke, and turns the oudh down without removing it, and I would rather you knew that here.
SOSA Ameeri
The sandalwood with a soft oudh and no cedarwood: Ameeri at ₹385: Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot, Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, then soft oudh, amber and white musk. An alcohol-free roll-on attar in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml.

Every bottle against your three dislikes

This is the inventory I promised. Each row is one bottle, and each answer says exactly which of cedarwood, smoke and oud it holds, using only what is on the published pyramids. Nothing in it is softened.

The SOSA plan
Cedarwood, smoke and oud, bottle by bottle

SOSA AdaaAdaa: vetiver and cedarwood in the base
Cedarwood, yes, in the base. No oudh. No smoke note. The right exit when oud is the harder no, and only then. View →
SOSA MastaniMastani: Mysore sandalwood in the base
No cedarwood. Oudh in the base, not labelled soft, beside vanilla and tonka. No smoke note. Sweet and deep, not quiet. View →
SOSA NawaabNawaab: Mysore sandalwood in the top
Oud-led, with aged tobacco leaf and leather. No cedarwood listed. Oud leads it, and tobacco and leather sit where smoke would. View →
Khayaal: amberwood, in a perfume oil
SOSA Khayaal at ₹599 for 10ml: sparkling bergamot, neroli, black tea and amberwood. No cedarwood and no oud listed, and only lightly woody. The absence route.

If the question underneath yours is how a woody attar stays close to the skin, what makes a woody attar wear close to the skin takes that apart. If you are weighing the dry route against the creamy one, sandalwood-musk or vetiver-musk for a dry, clean wearer compares them, and soft sandalwood against temple incense covers the smoke worry from the other side. And if you would rather have one clear next step, tell us your hardest no and we will answer in plain words.

Answer these two and the bottle chooses itself
Which of your dislikes is the hardest no? (Smoke is not listed on any pyramid, so choose between the other two.)
  • Oud, even a soft one
  • Cedarwood, even as a base note
How woody does the fragrance need to be?
  • Woody is the point: sandalwood or vetiver, clearly
  • A hint of wood is enough
Cedarwood is the hardest no, and woody is the point
SOSA Ameeri: Indian sandalwood in the heart, no cedarwood, soft oudh in the base. Start with the 3ml at ₹385, one dab, judged at hour three. Nothing more is needed until you have.
Cedarwood is the hardest no, and a hint of wood is enough
SOSA Khayaal lists amberwood and neither cedarwood nor oud. It is a perfume oil, from ₹599 for 10ml, and lightly woody. SOSA Ameeri is still the better answer if you want more wood.
Oud is the hardest no, and woody is the point
SOSA Adaa has no oudh and carries vetiver and cedarwood in the base. The 3ml at ₹379 will tell you if the cedarwood is fine. If not, no sandalwood attar here avoids oud entirely.
Oud is the hardest no, and a hint of wood is enough
SOSA Adaa again, and wait. Vetiver and cedarwood are the hint, under bergamot and white flowers. A 3ml at ₹379 is all you need to find out; if the cedarwood is too much, write to us.
SOSA Adaa
The attar with no oudh, and cedarwood in its base: Adaa at ₹379: bergamot, cardamom and neroli, three white flowers, then white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four, and the exit for a reader whose hardest no is oud.
Quiet oudh and no cedarwood, or no oudh and some
The fork is which dislike is harder. Ameeri has a soft oudh and no cedarwood. Adaa has cedarwood and no oudh at all. Neither has a smoke note, and both start at a 3ml.
See the SOSA AmeeriSee the SOSA Adaa
I could sell you Adaa by leaving one word out, and I would rather lose the sale than have you find the word on your wrist.

The SOSA specification for soft woody

Two rows. Ameeri is the answer for the reader whose hardest no is cedarwood or smoke, and Adaa is the answer for the reader whose hardest no is oud. The note says what neither of them is.

The SOSA specification for soft woody
Ameeri if cedarwood is the no, Adaa if oud is the no
Attar Best for Why it works Price
SOSA Ameeri Woody without cedarwood, with a soft oudh declared ₹385 for 3ml. Saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk ₹385

SOSA Adaa Woody without oud, with cedarwood declared ₹379 for 3ml. Bergamot, cardamom and neroli over three white flowers, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. No oudh at all ₹379

Both rows start small: the 3ml of Ameeri at ₹385, or the 3ml of Adaa at ₹379. The larger sizes are a purchase for after a full season: ₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml for Ameeri and ₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml for Adaa. Neither is free of every woody material you listed, because Ameeri carries oud and Adaa carries cedarwood, and nothing else in the attar range is woody without one or the other. If both are unacceptable, SOSA Khayaal is lightly woody and lists neither. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin for the attars and nothing further; how long any fragrance lasts depends on skin, dose, clothing and the day. A patch test on first use is the only skin advice we give. No page can tell you what anyone else will think of it, and I will not. Ours is a contact page and a person who replies: Ask for an attar recommendation and tell us which of the three is your hardest no.

A note from Sonal

When someone tells me they love woody and dislike cedarwood, smoke and oud, I hear a person who has been burned by a bottle, and I take the sentence seriously. Those three words do real work. A woody fragrance with none of them is a narrow thing, and my range is not built to be narrow. It is built to be honest about what it holds, and that is the only thing I can fully promise you on this page.

So here it is, without a softer version. Adaa has cedarwood in its base. Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab all carry oud, and Nawaab is led by it. No pyramid of mine lists smoke, and I would not tell you that the tobacco and leather in Nawaab will never read that way. Ameeri is what I would put in your hand, because its oudh is soft and its wood is sandalwood under a rose. It is not absent, and I will not call it that.

The advice is small. One 3ml, one dab, three ordinary days, and a judgment at hour three, when the saffron and the rose have gone and the base is what you are wearing. If the oudh passes, you have your bottle. If it does not, Adaa is the exit, and you will have learned it for the price of a 3ml. No page can tell you what anyone else will make of it, so the measure is yours. A portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Does any SOSA attar contain cedarwood?
Yes. SOSA Adaa carries cedarwood in its base, alongside white musk and vetiver. It is the only one of the four attars that lists it. Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab do not, and Adaa carries no oudh, so the cedarwood and the oud in the range sit in different bottles.
Does Ameeri contain oud?
Yes. Its base is soft oudh, amber and white musk, under Taif rose and Indian sandalwood. It is published as soft and sits beneath the heart, but it is present. How it reads on your skin I cannot promise; the 3ml judged at hour three is the answer.
Is there a smoke note in any SOSA attar?
No pyramid lists one. SOSA Nawaab has aged tobacco leaf and leather beside a lead oud, which are the materials some noses report as smoky, so it is the attar to treat with care if smoke is your worry. Ameeri lists neither tobacco nor leather.
What if I cannot accept any oud at all?
Then none of the sandalwood attars fit, because Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab all carry some. SOSA Adaa has no oudh and does carry cedarwood, and SOSA Khayaal lists neither, though it is only lightly woody. Tell us which one you can accept.
Which sandalwood attar has the least oud?
I cannot rank the amounts, because no strength is published. What I can say is that SOSA Ameeri is the only one of the three whose pyramid says soft oudh, while SOSA Mastani says oudh and SOSA Nawaab is oud-led. Start with the 3ml of Ameeri and judge it yourself.
SOSA Mastani
The sandalwood with oudh and vanilla, to leave out: Mastani at ₹389: night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose over Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. A deep floral-gourmand, with oudh stated plainly in the base.
