Nobody is holding a cup with nowhere to put it and nobody is reading in someone else's shadow. Side tables do not have to match, and honestly should not; a small stool, a nest table and a plant stand all count. For light, use three or four low sources at one warm colour temperature of about 2700K, on plug timers set to dusk, and switch off everything overhead once it is dark. Mixed white and yellow bulbs in a single sightline undoes more good rooms than any other mistake in an Indian home.

The first thing I notice in a hotel lounge is that I can put my drink down without looking for somewhere to put it. That sounds trivial and it is not. Everything in that room has been arranged around the assumption that someone is going to sit in it for an hour, and almost every living room I visit has been arranged around the assumption that someone is going to walk through it and admire it.
The scent side of a lounge has one rule that surprises people: keep the machine out of the room. Fragrance released inside a seating area is strong at one end and absent at the other, and the people nearest it go nose-blind within minutes. Put it where air enters the room and it arrives mixed and even, and the hall outside smells the same, which is the detail that stops a room reading as staged.
