Most scenting budgets are built backwards, from a quotation somebody sent rather than from the store somebody owns. Here is the arithmetic in the other direction - floor size, hardware, consumables - along with the one line I cannot honestly help you fill in, which is the reason this page exists.
Quick answers — read this first
How much should a store budget? Hardware, once, at one of four numbers. ₹849 for a single display room, ₹1,899 to about 750 sq ft, ₹11,999 from roughly 1,500 sq ft, and ₹25,999 for a full-floor flagship into the air handling. For most independent watch boutiques the honest total is one line and it sits at ₹1,899 or ₹11,999. Consumables are the second line and they behave very differently depending on which of those you bought - and one of them is not published at all, which I will come to.
What about the running cost? For reeds it is straightforward: 300ml refill oil at ₹2,399 and 500ml at ₹3,499, oil only, and a 50ml bottle lasts 6-8 weeks. For an ultrasonic unit it is the water-based fragrance oils, from ₹299 for 15ml to ₹1,799 for 300ml - those are for ultrasonic diffusers only and are never a Vaayu refill. For the Vaayu itself, SOSA does not currently sell cold-air refill oil as a separate line, so the 4 x 100ml supplied is the supply today and the 400ml tank runs 90+ days a fill.
What should the budget not contain? A projected return. No one can promise you that ambient scent moves footfall, dwell, conversion or spend, and a supplier who hands your finance team a payback figure is selling rather than measuring. Nor should it contain assumed commercial terms: bulk or corporate pricing, GST and corporate invoicing, AMC, warranty schedules, installation, minimum order quantities and multi-site rollout support are all unpublished at SOSA and should be confirmed with us in writing before anyone budgets around them.
The short answer
Short answer: as arithmetic rather than a recommendation. Hardware once: ₹849 for a single display room, ₹1,899 to about 750 sq ft, ₹11,999 from roughly 1,500 sq ft, ₹25,999 for a full-floor flagship. Then consumables - reed refills at ₹2,399 and ₹3,499, and for the cold-air machine a line that cannot yet be filled, because SOSA does not currently sell cold-air refill oil separately.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) as the single hardware line for a boutique of 1,500 sq ft and up, or one SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) where the store is a single trading room.
Next step: send your carpet area per store and we will send the arithmetic back with the hardware line filled in and the refill line flagged as unconfirmed - Ask for a retail scenting plan.
Two of these lines are simple arithmetic and the third is a gap. Flagging the gap before you find it yourself is the only responsible way to sell you a machine that runs 90 or more days on the oil in the box.

How much should a luxury retail store budget for ambient scenting?
I would rather give you arithmetic than a recommendation, because the honest range is wide and where you sit in it is decided by your floor plan alone. Hardware first, and it is a one-off. A single display room under about 300 sq ft: one Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849, or ₹1,349 for the 130ml. From roughly 300 to 750 sq ft: one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899, which is where a great many independent watch boutiques honestly belong and where a bigger machine would be the wrong buy. From about 1,500 sq ft, or once there is an entrance lobby and a private lounge on the same air path: one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999. For a full-floor flagship of 8,000 sq ft and beyond, one SOSA Aangan at ₹25,999 into the air handling. That is the entire hardware range: ₹849 to ₹25,999, and for most single boutiques the total is one machine and one line. Second line, consumables, and here the products diverge. Reed refill oil is published and simple: 300ml at ₹2,399, 500ml at ₹3,499, oil only, against a 50ml bottle that lasts 6-8 weeks and a 130ml that lasts 14-18. Water-based fragrance oils for an ultrasonic unit run from ₹299 for 15ml to ₹1,799 for 300ml, and they are for ultrasonic diffusers only - they are never a refill for the cold-air machine, whatever the shared names on the labels suggest. And now the line I cannot fill in for you. SOSA does not currently sell cold-air refill oil as a separate item. A Vaayu ships with 4 x 100ml of hotel-inspired oil, the 400ml tank runs 90+ days a fill in normal store use, and that supplied quantity is the supply as it stands today. If you are writing a three-year budget, or a budget covering several stores, you must confirm continuity of refill supply with SOSA in writing before that line goes in. I would far rather tell you that now than have your finance team discover it in month five. Third, the lines that should not be in the budget at all. No one can promise that ambient scent moves footfall, dwell time, conversion or spend, so no projected return belongs anywhere in this sheet, and a supplier offering your finance team a payback period is selling rather than measuring. Equally, do not budget for services that are not published: bulk or corporate pricing, GST and corporate invoicing, AMC, warranty terms, installation, delivery timing, minimum order quantities and multi-site rollout support are all unconfirmed at SOSA and need to be asked about directly. Fragrance here is a presentation decision like lighting or seating; it is never a way to cover another smell, and a store with a fit-out, carpet or corridor problem should budget for ventilation rather than for scent. Ask for a retail scenting plan and send the carpet area of each store.
Hardware once: ₹849, ₹1,899, ₹11,999 or ₹25,999 by floor size. Reed refills ₹2,399 and ₹3,499. Cold-air refill oil is not a published line today - the 400ml supplied runs 90+ days a fill and continuity must be confirmed before you budget it.
For a boutique of 1,500 sq ft and up the hardware line is one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, rated to 1000m³, 400ml running 90+ days a fill, key-locked. Under 750 sq ft the line is a Sukoon at ₹1,899, and under 300 sq ft it is a reed at ₹849.
This is the one-off part of the budget and it is genuinely one line for a single store. The images link to the product pages so your finance team can check the specifications against the numbers.
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, auto-stop and key-lock. Ships with 4 x 100ml hotel-inspired oils; cold-air refill oil is not currently sold as a separate line.
Ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft, supplied with three 15ml fragrances. Water-based, so its consumables are the ultrasonic fragrance oils from ₹299 for 15ml - a published and predictable running line, which is one honest advantage of the cheaper machine.
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Made in India. Ships with 4 x 100ml oils. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately, so continuity of supply must be confirmed with SOSA before it appears as a budget line.
Two are simple. The third is the reason I would rather write this page than let a spreadsheet invent a number.
1
Line one - hardware, once
Four numbers cover every store, and the smallest is right more often than the largest
₹849 for a reed in a single display room. ₹1,899 for a Sukoon up to about 750 sq ft. ₹11,999 for a Vaayu from about 1,500 sq ft. ₹25,999 for an Aangan into the air handling of a full-floor flagship. There is no fifth number and there is no annual licence in the middle of it. A second machine belongs to a second volume of air - a separate floor, its own AC zone, a closed lounge - and never to a second corner of the same showroom, which is the most common way a hardware line doubles for no reason.
Tip: Budget one machine per genuinely separate body of air, counted with the doors in their normal trading position.
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
Reeds are predictable, ultrasonic units are predictable, and the cold-air machine is the open question
Reed refill oil is published: 300ml at ₹2,399, 500ml at ₹3,499, oil only, against 6-8 weeks per 50ml and 14-18 per 130ml. Ultrasonic fragrance oils run ₹299 for 15ml to ₹1,799 for 300ml and are for ultrasonic diffusers only - they share names with the cold-air oils and are not a substitute for them. For the Vaayu, what you can plan is the box: 4 x 100ml supplied, a 400ml tank, 90+ days a fill at normal store settings. Beyond that the line is open, and honest budgeting means writing it as open rather than inventing a figure.
Tip: Ask any supplier for the refill SKU, its size and its price in writing before the machine goes on the order.
One Sukoon ₹1,899, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
A projected return and an assumed commercial term are both fiction until somebody confirms them
Two kinds of numbers get into scenting budgets that should not. The first is a return: nobody can promise that ambient scent moves a business number, SOSA has run no research that would let me offer one, and a payback line in a proposal is a sales device rather than a measurement. The second is an assumed commercial term. Bulk or corporate pricing, GST and corporate invoicing, AMC, warranty schedules, installation, delivery timing, minimum order quantities and multi-site rollout support are all unpublished at SOSA, and a budget that assumes any of them is a budget built on something nobody has agreed. Ask, get it in writing, then budget.
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
A scenting budget has three lines - hardware, consumables and a set of commercial terms - and the honest version of it leaves the cold-air refill line open rather than filling it with a number nobody has published.
The machine runs 90 or more days on the oil in the box, which is exactly why the gap is easy to miss until month five.
The one-off line, most often: SOSA Vaayu, waterless, rated to 1000m³, 400ml running 90+ days a fill, key-locked, under 38dB. ₹11,999 once.
The one-off line, under 750 sq ft: SOSA Sukoon covers roughly 270-320 sq ft and ships with three 15ml fragrances. ₹1,899, with published ultrasonic oils behind it.
Four hardware numbers cover every store in this category and most boutiques need one of them once. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately, so the 4 x 100ml supplied with a Vaayu is the supply today, the 400ml tank runs 90+ days a fill, and continuity of supply must be confirmed with SOSA in writing before that line enters a budget or a rollout plan. Bulk or corporate pricing, GST and corporate invoicing, AMC, warranty terms, installation, delivery timing, minimum order quantities, spare parts and multi-site rollout support are likewise not published and should be confirmed with us directly rather than estimated. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Budget the hardware precisely and the refill line honestly. Ambient scent here is a presentation decision like lighting, seating or case layout; it is never used to cover a fit-out, carpet or corridor smell, and where a store has one of those problems the money belongs in ventilation instead. And plainly: no one can promise that ambient scent moves footfall, dwell, conversion or spend, so no projected return should appear anywhere in this sheet. Ask for a retail scenting plan before you spend anything.

A note from Sonal
Finance teams ask this question better than owners do, because they want the whole shape rather than one price. The shape is small: one hardware line at one of four numbers, a consumables line that depends on which machine you bought, and a set of commercial terms. What they usually expect from a supplier is a bigger sheet than that, with an annual programme fee in the middle of it, and I do not have one to sell them.
The part of this I insist on saying out loud is the refill line. A Vaayu ships with four hundred millilitres of oil and a tank that runs ninety days or more, so for the first two or three quarters nobody notices anything. What they notice in month five is that SOSA does not sell cold-air refill oil as a separate item today. If you are budgeting a single store that may not matter much; if you are budgeting five stores over three years it matters a great deal, and you should confirm continuity with us in writing before you sign anything off. I would rather lose an order to that sentence than have somebody find it out on their own.
The rest is easy. Reed at ₹849, Sukoon at ₹1,899, Vaayu at ₹11,999, Aangan at ₹25,999, chosen by floor size and by how many separate bodies of air the store has. No AMC, warranty schedule, installation programme, bulk pricing or corporate invoicing arrangement is published, so ask rather than assume. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
How much should a luxury retail store budget for ambient scenting?
As arithmetic rather than a recommendation. Hardware is a one-off at one of four numbers: Rs 849 for a reed in a single display room, Rs 1,899 for a Sukoon up to about 750 sq ft, Rs 11,999 for a Vaayu from roughly 1,500 sq ft, and Rs 25,999 for an Aangan into the air handling of a full-floor flagship. For most single watch boutiques the year-one total is one machine and one line.
What are the ongoing running costs?
For reeds they are published: refill oil at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml, against six to eight weeks per 50ml bottle. For an ultrasonic unit they are the water-based fragrance oils, from Rs 299 for 15ml to Rs 1,799 for 300ml. For the cold-air Vaayu the honest answer is that the running line is open - the machine ships with 4 x 100ml, the 400ml tank runs 90 or more days a fill, and there is no separate cold-air refill product today.
Can I buy refill oil for the Vaayu separately?
Not as things stand. SOSA does not currently sell cold-air refill oil as a separate line item, so the 4 x 100ml supplied with the machine is the supply today. The water-based Hotel Collection oils are for ultrasonic diffusers only and are never a Vaayu refill, despite sharing fragrance names. If you are writing a multi-year or multi-store budget, confirm continuity of supply with SOSA in writing before that line goes in.
Should the budget include a projected return from scenting?
No. No one can promise that ambient scent moves footfall, dwell time, conversion or spend, SOSA has run no research that would support a figure, and there is no honest way to separate ambient scent from lighting, layout, service and price. A payback line in a proposal is a sales device rather than a measurement, and it does not belong in a retail budget.
What commercial terms should I confirm before budgeting?
All of them, because none are published. Bulk or corporate pricing, GST and corporate invoicing arrangements, annual maintenance contracts, warranty terms, installation, delivery timing, minimum order quantities, spare parts and multi-site rollout support are unpublished at SOSA today. Ask for each in writing before a finance team assumes it, particularly if the budget covers several stores or more than one year.
The smallest honest line of all: Mountain Breeze reed, pine, sage and cedar, 50ml lasting 6-8 weeks. ₹849, with refills published at ₹2,399 and ₹3,499.
SOSA — Clinic Scentingfor luxury watch boutiques and premium retail

Cold-air refill oil is not a published line today - confirm continuity with us before budgeting it. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.
Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with adjustable intensity, a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, operation under 38dB at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification, which are electrical and compliance marks and not medical approvals. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is an ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft and is supplied with three 15ml fragrances; the water-based Hotel Collection (₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799) is an ultrasonic fragrance and is not a refill for a waterless cold-air machine. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with 50ml lasting about 6-8 weeks and 130ml about 14-18 weeks. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml included and further refills should be confirmed with SOSA. Warranty, annual maintenance, installation and bulk terms are not published and should be confirmed before ordering. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and infection control and is never a substitute for any of them, it is never used to mask another smell, and no claim is made that fragrance influences a patient's decision or any commercial outcome. Clinical areas including procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms are left unscented, and the treating clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan in their own room. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference. Coverage, fragrance usage and running cost depend on the space, settings and hours of use, and are confirmed on a consultation. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
