Attar Gift Guides · SOSA

A Raksha Bandhan gift question usually arrives with an unspoken assumption baked in: something for a sister, something else for a brother. SOSA does not sell either. No attar in this range is marketed by gender, and the right way to choose one for a sibling is the same regardless of which direction the gift is travelling: by what they actually like to wear.
Quick answers — read this first
What attar should I gift my sibling for Raksha Bandhan? Whichever suits their taste, not their gender. Adaa is the safe, neutral pick if you are not certain; Mastani suits a floral preference.

Is there a "brother's attar" or a "sister's attar"? No. SOSA does not gender its attars, and this guide does not either. The same shelf applies whichever direction the gift is going.

What if I do not know their exact taste? The pack of three, from ₹1,055, holds Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani, and works equally well as a gift to a sister or a brother.
The short answer
Short answer: choose a Raksha Bandhan attar by the sibling's actual taste, not by whether they are a sister or a brother. No SOSA attar is gendered.
Not sure of their taste: Adaa, bergamot, cardamom and jasmine sambac, from ₹379 - the lightest, most neutral option.
Gifting more than one sibling: the pack of three from ₹1,055 covers three different characters in one purchase.
Straight answer
Should a Raksha Bandhan attar be chosen differently for a sister versus a brother?
1. No. Choose by taste, not by who is receiving it. SOSA does not market any attar to one gender, and a sibling's fragrance preference has nothing to do with whether they are a sister or a brother.

2. If you genuinely do not know their taste, go neutral. Adaa, bergamot, cardamom and jasmine sambac, is the lightest and least likely to miss.

3. If they lean floral, say so plainly. Mastani, night-blooming jasmine and damask rose, suits a sibling who already wears florals - sister or brother.

4. Gifting to more than one sibling? Consider the trio. The pack of three covers three characters, useful when tastes in the family differ.

5. Size the gift to the budget, not to the person's gender. SOSA attars come in 3 ml, 6 ml and 12 ml at the same set of prices regardless of who is buying or receiving.

And a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
TL;DR: pick by taste, not gender. Adaa if unsure, Mastani for a floral lover, or the pack of three for more than one sibling.
Adaa Attar
The safe Raksha Bandhan pick
Adaa Attar from ₹379
Bergamot, cardamom and jasmine sambac. Alcohol-free roll-on oil in 3 ml, 6 ml and 12 ml, and the least likely to miss when you are not certain what a sibling actually wears.

Why nothing here is gendered

Raksha Bandhan gift guides often default to "gifts for sisters" and "gifts for brothers" as if the categories needed separate shelves. SOSA's attars do not support that split, because none of them is formulated or marketed for one gender. The solid body perfumes in the wider range are literally titled for women and men both, and the attars carry no gender framing at all. A sister buying for a brother and a brother buying for a sister are choosing from the same shelf.

1
The actual variable
Taste, not gender, decides the pick
What matters is whether the sibling wears light, fresh scents or warmer, richer ones. Adaa covers the former, Mastani the latter, and neither has anything to do with who the recipient is.
2
When siblings differ
One gift, more than one character
Families rarely share one fragrance taste. The pack of three - Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani - exists for exactly this: a single purchase that does not require you to guess correctly on the first try.

How to actually choose

Ask what the sibling already reaches for, if you can. If you cannot, start light. A neutral, bright profile is far less likely to be wrong than a bold, assertive one, and that logic holds regardless of which direction across the family the gift is going.

The SOSA Raksha Bandhan edit
The SOSA principle
A sibling's gift is decided by what they wear, never by which sibling they are.
The same shelf works in both directions.
A gender never wore an attar. A person did.

A note from Sonal

I get asked, fairly often, "what's a good Rakhi gift for a brother" as though the answer would be different from "for a sister". It would not be, not in this range.

None of my attars are built around gender. Adaa is light because some people like light scents. Mastani is floral because some people like florals. Which sibling is buying, or receiving, changes nothing about which bottle is right.

If in doubt, ask what they already wear, or buy the pack of three and let them tell you. A girl still gets a classroom through Nanhi Kali either way.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a specific attar for Raksha Bandhan?
No. SOSA does not make an occasion-specific attar, and none of its attars is marketed for one gender. Choose based on the sibling's actual taste, whether you are a sister buying for a brother or a brother buying for a sister.
Should I pick a different attar for a brother than for a sister?
No. The choice should follow taste, not gender. The same attars, at the same prices, suit either recipient.
What is the safest attar to gift if I am not sure of their taste?
Adaa, at Rs 379 for 3 ml. It is bergamot, cardamom and jasmine sambac, the lightest and most neutral attar SOSA makes, and the least likely to miss.
What if I want to gift more than one sibling?
Consider the pack of three, which holds Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani for Rs 1,055 in the 3 ml set, so different tastes can each find something they like. It does not include Adaa.
What sizes are SOSA attars available in for Raksha Bandhan gifting?
3 ml, 6 ml and 12 ml, at the same prices regardless of who is buying or receiving. Adaa runs from Rs 379 to Rs 1,149 across those three sizes.
