★ SOSA home scenting
Two passive sources are still passive. No amount of quiet ever adds up to a wave — room-filling is an active job, and that's simply not what reeds were built to do.

Here's the sentence that explains your whole disappointment, and I want to give it to you plainly before anything else: two passive sources are still passive. You expected two reeds to add up to a room-filling effect — and they didn't, because room-filling isn't a quantity you can reach by stacking a thing that has no engine. It's a different kind of scenting altogether.
Quick answer
Why don't two reeds fill the room? Two passive sources are still passive. No amount of quiet scent adds up to an active wave.
Are my reeds faulty? No — this is normal. Reeds were never built to fill a room; that's not a defect.
What fills a room? An active diffuser — Sukoon (₹1,899) or SOSA Safar (₹3,999) — that pushes scent out.
The short version
Short answer: Two reeds can't fill a room because passive diffusion has no push. Room-filling is an active job.
The pick: Sukoon (₹1,899) for affordable set-and-forget presence, or
SOSA Safar (₹3,999) for stronger, drier throw.
The physics, gently
A reed has no engine — and neither does a second one
A reed diffuser works by capillary action: the sticks draw oil up from the bottle, hold a thin film at the top, and let it evaporate into the air immediately around them. That's it. There's no fan, no mist, no pump — nothing to carry the fragrance anywhere. It drifts on whatever gentle currents the room already has, which is why you smell it clearly a hand's width away and faintly across the bed. Put a second reed on the other nightstand and you've built a second little cloud of the same short-range scent. Two clouds. Not a wave. The room in between still relies on lazy air to bridge the gap, and lazy air doesn't fill rooms.
The tip: adding sources multiplies close-range pockets, not reach. Reach needs energy behind the scent — and reeds have none to give.
The reassurance
Your reeds aren't broken — they're behaving perfectly
I want to say this clearly because so many people quietly worry they bought a dud: a reed that smells strong at the bottle and soft across the room is working exactly as designed. Passive, close-range, ambient — that's the whole nature of the format, not a fault in your particular bottle or fragrance. If your two reeds scent the air near them and last a reasonable few weeks, nothing is wrong. What's happened is simpler and more forgivable: the expectation didn't match the tool. You wanted room-filling; reeds do gentle presence. Once you see that, the fix is obvious and there's no reed to return.
The tip: don't buy a third reed to fix a job reeds don't do. Change the method instead.

Filling the bedroom |
Room-filling is an active job. Keep the reeds for ambience; add one active diffuser for the presence you expected.
The active step-up
Sukoon 500ml ₹1,899
An ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser that actively pushes scent into the room on a timer. Runs a
Hotel Collection fragrance from ₹299 and adds a little welcome humidity. This is the affordable answer for genuine room-filling presence in a bedroom.
The honest core
Two passive sources are still passive. No amount of passive scent adds up to active throw.
Room-filling needs a diffuser that pushes fragrance out. Reeds give gentle ambience — a lovely thing, just not this thing.
The honest caveat: the Sukoon and Safar are made for a bedroom or small-to-medium room. For a large open-plan living room or villa, look at the
SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) instead — matching the machine to the space is the whole point.
Frequently asked
Why don't two reed diffusers fill the room?
Because two passive sources are still passive. A reed evaporates oil into the still air around the bottle and relies on the room's slow currents to move it — a short-range effect. Two of them gives you two gentle pockets of scent, not one strong wave across the room. Nothing in a reed pushes fragrance outward, so no quantity of reeds adds up to active, room-filling throw.
Are my reeds faulty if two of them can't fill the room?
No. This is normal, expected behaviour, not a defect. A reed that smells strong at the neck of the bottle but soft across the room is doing exactly what passive diffusion does. Room-filling was never within the design of a reed. If your reeds scent the air close to them and last a reasonable time, they are working perfectly — they are simply the wrong tool for whole-room presence.
What actually gives a room-filling effect?
An active diffuser — one that adds energy behind the fragrance and physically pushes it out. The Sukoon ultrasonic (₹1,899) drives scent on a cool mist with a timer; the SOSA Safar (₹3,999) is a waterless nebuliser that atomises neat oil into a fine dry mist for stronger, more perfume-like throw. Either fills a bedroom in a way no number of reeds can.
Should I keep the reeds?
Yes. Reeds are genuinely lovely for gentle, silent, always-on background scent that needs no power. Once you add an active diffuser for room-filling presence, the reeds keep doing the quiet close-range job they are good at. The two are complementary, not competing, and many homes run both happily.
Room-filling is a method, not a reed count
Two passive reeds can't fill a room. One active diffuser can.
