If you love oud perfume, the answer is Nawaab, and I would rather give it to you in the first line than the last. The rest of this page is about the two other ouds, and about who each of the three is wrong for.
Quick answers — read this first
Which SOSA attar should an oud lover try first? SOSA Nawaab at ₹399. It is the deepest of the four and the only one that is oud-led: white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf, on amber, leather and white musk.

When is Ameeri or Mastani the better choice? SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 if you want the oud softened by Taif rose; SOSA Mastani at ₹389 if you want it under night flowers with vanilla and tonka, and genuinely sweet.

Who should not buy these? Anyone who wants incense, resin or smoke as the point; SOSA has no incense-resin scent. And anyone who wants a Gulf-house mukhallat, which these are not. SOSA Adaa has no oudh at all.
The short answer
Short answer: Nawaab first. It is the oud-led one, dry and deep. Ameeri is the softer oud and Mastani the sweeter, and each is wrong for someone.
The pick: One 3ml of SOSA Nawaab at ₹399. Add SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 or SOSA Mastani at ₹389 only once you know which direction you want. Or the Trio at ₹1,055.
Next step: Name the oud you wear now and the one thing you would change about it, and we will name one of the three. Ask for an attar recommendation.

Straight answer
Which SOSA Attar Should an Oud-Perfume Lover Try?
Try Nawaab first. It is the oud-led one, and an oud lover is the person it is composed for. Here is the verdict in five steps, with the two other ouds placed and the plain statement of who each is wrong for.

1. Nawaab first. SOSA Nawaab at ₹399 is white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf, on amber, leather and white musk. The deepest of the four, dry, and oud-led from the first minute. It is wrong for anyone who dislikes tobacco or leather, or who wants rose.

2. Ameeri if you want the oud softened. SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 is Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. It is wrong for anyone who wants the oud met head-on; here it is the supporting note.

3. Mastani if you want it sweet. SOSA Mastani at ₹389 puts oudh under night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose, with Mysore sandalwood, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. It is wrong for anyone who dislikes vanilla or sweetness.

4. Not Adaa, and not an incense. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 is composed with no oudh. And SOSA makes no incense-resin scent, so if smoke and resin are the point, nothing here is the answer.

5. Start at 3ml and judge at hour three. One dab is a whisper and two is a sentence. SOSA states six to eight hours on skin and nothing further; how far it carries is yours to find out.

Nobody can promise you what anyone else will think of it, and I am not going to. What an oud attar can be is consistent, close and distinctive. What it does in someone else's head is theirs.
Nawaab first: one 3ml of SOSA Nawaab at ₹399. SOSA Ameeri if you want it softened by rose, SOSA Mastani if you want it sweet. Each is wrong for someone, and the page says who.
The first purchase is one 3ml of SOSA Nawaab at ₹399: white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf on amber, leather and white musk. It is an alcohol-free roll-on oil on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, hand-blended in Pune, and it is the oud-led one of the four. If you already know you want it rounded by rose, make it SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 instead.

Three ouds, placed precisely

SOSA makes three attars with oud and one without. All four are alcohol-free roll-on oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, hand-blended in Pune, in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. Here is where each of the three oud ones sits.

SOSA Nawaab
First: the oud met head-on, dry and deep
SOSA Nawaab
₹399 for 3ml, ₹699 for 6ml, ₹1,199 for 12ml. White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf on amber, leather and white musk. SOSA rates it the deepest of the four, 9.5 out of 10. Dry rather than sweet, with no floral heart. This is the one an oud lover should try before the others.
From ₹399
SOSA Ameeri
Second: the oud softened by rose, saffron and amber
SOSA Ameeri
₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml. Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. A little oud rather than a lot, and the one that most easily moves from day to evening. The one for a reader who has found oud a little much.
From ₹385
SOSA Mastani
Third: the oudh under night flowers, genuinely sweet
SOSA Mastani · alcohol-free roll-on attar
₹389 for 3ml, ₹685 for 6ml, ₹1,179 for 12ml. Litchi, bergamot and pink pepper over night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose, on Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. A deep floral-gourmand where the oudh sits below the flowers. It is the right third bottle for someone who likes sweet, and the wrong first one for someone who wants oud as the point.

Who each one is wrong for

A verdict that cannot say no is not much use. These are the three plain statements, and the third is the one that applies to the whole range.

1
One
Nawaab is wrong for anyone who wants rose or sweetness
Nawaab has no floral heart and no vanilla. It opens on white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf, and rests on amber, leather and white musk. If you like oud softened, if tobacco or leather is a note you avoid, or if you want something sweet, it will feel stark. That is not a flaw. It is the point of it, and it is the reason it is the first one an oud lover should try: it is the oud, unadorned.
Tip: If a dry, dark oud has never suited you, skip to Ameeri and do not feel you have missed anything.
SOSA Nawaab
Nawaab at ₹399 is the oud-led one, and the one I would try first on any oud lover.
See SOSA Nawaab →
2
Two
Ameeri is wrong for anyone who wants the oud as the loudest note
Ameeri carries soft oudh under Taif rose and Indian sandalwood. The oud is present, but it is a supporting note, rounded by the rose and the saffron. Someone who loves oud for its depth and dryness will find it gentle, which is exactly why others will find it the easiest oud to wear. It is a very good oud for the person who wants it softened, and the wrong one for the person who does not.
Tip: If you enjoyed Nawaab but wished it were softer, Ameeri is the direction to move.
SOSA Ameeri
Ameeri at ₹385 is the softer oud: rose and saffron over soft oudh, with amber and white musk beneath.
See SOSA Ameeri →
3
Three
Mastani is wrong for anyone who dislikes sweetness or vanilla
Mastani is genuinely sweet. Litchi at the top, night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose in the heart, and Madagascar vanilla and tonka in the base, with oudh below. If you dislike vanilla or gourmand perfume, it is not for you, and no amount of oud will change that. And across the whole range, there is no incense-resin scent and no smoke as the point. If that is what you want, I would rather say so than let you find out.
Tip: Write down whether you like vanilla in perfume before you buy Mastani. It is the one question that decides it.
SOSA Mastani
Mastani at ₹389 is the sweet one: jasmine, Damask rose, vanilla and tonka over oudh.
See SOSA Mastani →
The SOSA principle
The most useful thing a recommendation can do is name the person it is wrong for. An oud lover who knows that is wrong for Mastani and right for Nawaab has already done most of the choosing.
Three ouds, three directions: dry, softened and sweet. Once you know which you are, the range reads as one clear answer and two honest alternatives.
SOSA Nawaab
The first oud to try, and the deepest: Nawaab at ₹399 is white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf, on amber, leather and white musk. Dry, dark and oud-led from the first minute.

A week to settle it

If you would rather not rely on a verdict, run the week. One 3ml of the first, one dab and three ordinary days, and let your own skin decide.

The SOSA plan
A week to settle which oud is yours
The day, and what you are testing The dose, and what to write down
SOSA NawaabDays one and two, Nawaab, ordinary days
One dab on one wrist. At hour three, note whether the dryness and the leather suit you, and whether you missed any softness. View →
SOSA AmeeriDay three, the same day again, with Ameeri
One dab on one wrist. Note whether the rose made it easier or diluted what you came for. That tells you which side you are on. View →
SOSA MastaniDay four, an evening, with Mastani, if you like sweet
Two dabs, applied before you leave. Skip this day if you already know you dislike vanilla. View →
Day five, whichever you reached for without thinking
That is your oud. Buy the 6ml of it after a season, not before, and you will have answered the question properly.

If you finish the week with one clear favourite, it worked, and it will most likely be SOSA Nawaab or SOSA Ameeri. For the broader version of this question, I love oud perfumes is the starting point, and should an oud lover own different oud attars for day and night covers the case where you want more than one. If you would rather skip the week, tell us the oud you wear now and we will name one of the three.

SOSA Ameeri
The oud softened by rose, for a gentler start: Ameeri at ₹385 is Taif rose and Indian sandalwood over soft oudh, amber and white musk, with Persian saffron and pink pepper on top.
Name your oud, get a bottle named back
Tell us the oud perfume you wear now and the one thing you would change about it, and we will name one of the three and one size.

A verdict is only worth something if it can say who a bottle is wrong for. Here are three, and all three can.

The SOSA specification

One bottle first, two for later, one box if you would rather settle it in a week. Everything else in the range is a different question.

The SOSA specification for an oud lover
Nawaab first, then the direction your own taste points
Attar Best for Why it works Price
SOSA Nawaab The first oud to try; dry, deep and oud-led ₹399 for 3ml. White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf on amber, leather and white musk. Wrong for rose or sweet lovers ₹399

SOSA Ameeri Oud softened by rose, saffron and amber ₹385 for 3ml. Persian saffron and pink pepper over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. Wrong for oud head-on ₹385

All three rows are 3ml to start. The 6ml and 12ml of the same composition are the right purchase after a season, not instead of it — ₹399 for 3ml, ₹699 for 6ml, ₹1,199 for 12ml for Nawaab, ₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml for Ameeri and ₹389 for 3ml, ₹685 for 6ml, ₹1,179 for 12ml for Mastani. The Attar Trio from ₹1,055 is all three. These are Indian-made attars in a rose, oud, sandalwood and saffron idiom; they are not mukhallats, not bakhoor, and not from a Gulf house. SOSA states six to eight hours on skin and nothing further; how far a fragrance carries depends on skin, dose, clothing and the weather, and varies from person to person. Nobody can promise you what anyone else will think of it, and I am not going to. Ours is a contact page and a person who replies — Ask for an attar recommendation and tell us the oud you wear now.

A note from Sonal

When someone who loves oud writes to me, I do not start with a list. I start with Nawaab, because it is the one that treats oud as the point rather than a note among others. If that is what they love, they know within an afternoon.

The other two exist for the person Nawaab is wrong for. Ameeri is for the one who wants it softened, Mastani for the one who wants it sweet. I would rather tell you that plainly than let you discover it on a 12ml. And I will tell you what none of them is: an incense, a resin, a mukhallat or a Gulf house. They are Indian-made attars, hand-blended in Pune.

Nobody can promise you what anyone else will think of how you smell, so the only measure that matters is whether you enjoy it at hour three. Start at 3ml and let the afternoon decide. A portion of every order supports Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Why Nawaab first rather than Ameeri?
Because an oud lover is the person Nawaab is for. SOSA Nawaab at ₹399 is the deepest of the four and oud-led from the first minute. If it turns out to be too stark, you have spent the price of a 3ml and learned that you want SOSA Ameeri at ₹385, where rose softens the oud.
Who is Nawaab wrong for?
Anyone who dislikes tobacco or leather, who wants rose, or who wants sweetness. It has no floral heart and no vanilla. It is also wrong for someone who wants incense, resin or smoke as the point, because SOSA makes no incense-resin scent.
Who is Mastani wrong for?
Anyone who dislikes vanilla, tonka or sweet, gourmand perfume. SOSA Mastani at ₹389 has Madagascar vanilla and tonka in the base and night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose in the heart, with the oudh below. It is genuinely sweet.
Should an oud lover buy Adaa?
Not for the oud. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 is composed with no oudh at all. It is the lightest of the four, bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. It is worth owning only if you want a different, brighter scent alongside.
Is the Trio the better first purchase?
If you would rather settle it on your skin than on a page, yes. The Attar Trio from ₹1,055 is Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani. If you are sure you want the oud head-on, one 3ml of SOSA Nawaab is the more economical first step.
SOSA Attar Trio
All three, if you would rather settle it on your skin: the Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani box from ₹1,055, for the oud lover who would rather wear all three than choose between them.

Facts verified 17 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: SOSA makes four attars, all alcohol-free and DPG-free roll-on perfume oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, hand-blended in Pune and sold in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. Nawaab (white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf, on amber, leather and white musk) is from ₹399. Ameeri (Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot; Taif rose and Indian sandalwood; soft oudh, amber and white musk) is from ₹385. Mastani (litchi, bergamot and pink pepper; night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose; Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka) is from ₹389. Adaa (Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli; jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang; white musk, vetiver and cedarwood) is composed with no oudh and is from ₹379. The Attar Trio of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani is from ₹1,055. Longevity is stated by SOSA as 6–8 hours on skin and nothing beyond that. The compositions are made in India to IFRA standards and are phthalate-free; a patch test on first use is the only advice offered on skin. Alcohol-free and DPG-free are statements about ingredients and nothing more.
