Why warmth? Warm notes feel like a fire and a handshake; cold or sharp scents feel like a showroom.
SOSA's pick? Warm Welcome from our Hotel Collection - a Four Seasons-inspired citrus, floral and sandalwood.
A warm, soft fragrance built on sandalwood, gentle citrus and a light floral is the one that makes guests feel most welcome, because warmth in scent reads to us as hospitality. When a guest walks in, a warm scent feels like a fire and a handshake - it says you were expected and you are cared for. Cold, sharp or heavily clean scents do the opposite; they feel like a showroom or a clinic, impressive but not hosting. The sweet spot is gentle and gracious rather than strong: soft woods to give comfort, a touch of citrus to feel bright and awake, and a whisper of floral to feel cared-for. In our range, this is exactly what Warm Welcome from the Hotel Collection is built to do - a Four Seasons-inspired blend of citrus, floral and sandalwood, made for the moment someone steps through your door.
Why warmth reads as welcome
There is a reason hotel lobbies and well-run homes both lean on warm scents at the entrance. Warmth in fragrance carries an emotional message we read instantly, before we can name a single note. A soft, warm scent feels safe and generous. A cold or aggressive one feels like we are being kept at arm's length.
The notes that do this best are soft woods like sandalwood, which feel like comfort and steadiness; a light citrus, which keeps the air feeling fresh and awake rather than heavy; and a gentle floral, which adds a cared-for, almost just-tidied feeling. Together they read as warm and gracious. What you want to avoid at the entrance is anything sharp, cold, medicinal or very sweet - those scents can feel like effort on display rather than true welcome.
Where to place it
The single most useful thing you can do for guests is to scent the entrance, not the whole flat. The first ten seconds matter most. If the hallway or the spot just inside the door carries a soft warm scent, your guest's impression is set before they have taken off their shoes.
For this exact job, I made Warm Welcome. It is part of our Hotel Collection, a water-based diffuser fragrance inspired by the gracious sandalwood-and-citrus style a hotel like the Four Seasons is known for. To be honest and clear, it is my own interpretation of that style, not the hotel's actual scent - SOSA is not affiliated with the hotels named. But it is composed to do one thing well: make the person who just walked in feel truly hosted.
Reality: a strong scent makes guests feel managed. Warmth, kept soft and consistent, is what makes them feel welcome. Turn the volume down, not up.
If you remember one thing, let it be this: warmth equals welcome. Soft sandalwood, gentle citrus and a light floral, placed where people arrive, will make your guests feel hosted every single time.

Versailles
I trained as a perfumer at ISIPCA in Versailles, and the one thing every great hotel taught me is that scent is the first thing you notice and the last thing you forget. I wanted to bottle that feeling for the home.
So the Hotel Collection is seven water-based diffuser fragrances, each my own interpretation of the style a famous hotel is known for - composed in our own lab, made to run cleanly through a SOSA ultrasonic diffuser. Please use the SOSA diffuser fragrance only; raw essential or carrier oils are thick and can clog the misting plate.
To be clear and honest: these are inspired interpretations, not the hotels' actual proprietary scents. SOSA is not affiliated with or endorsed by the hotels named - the names just describe the scent style. I would rather you knew exactly what you are buying: a perfumer's take on that hushed, expensive calm, at an honest price.
