In a small flat, placement does more work than dose. Raise the diffuser off the floor, put it in the airflow near where the living room meets the corridor, and let it drift toward the bedroom - that single spot scents most of a 1BHK.
Quick answers — read this first
The best single spot? A side table or shelf in the living room, near the doorway to the rest of the flat, raised roughly to waist-to-chest height and out of a direct draught. From there a
Sukoon drifts into the connecting spaces.
How high should it sit? Off the floor - waist to chest height is ideal. Mist is cool and settles, so a floor-level diffuser scents your ankles and the far corners get nothing.
Where should it never go? On the floor, behind a sofa, tucked in a corner, or right under a running AC vent that blows the mist straight out of the room.
The short answer
Short answer: Place your
Sukoon on a side table or shelf in the living room, raised to waist-to-chest height, near the doorway to the rest of the 1BHK and within the natural airflow - not on the floor, behind furniture, or directly under an AC vent.
The pick: the
SOSA Sukoon (₹1,799) ultrasonic diffuser plus a
Hotel Collection scent (from ₹299) is the hotel-at-home starter; a
Boond (₹799) suits a small room or desk, and for a large, open-plan or high-humidity space the waterless
Vaayu (₹11,999) adds no moisture.

Straight answer
Where should you place an ultrasonic diffuser in a 1BHK apartment?
1. Choose the living room, near the corridor. Put the
Sukoon where the main room meets the passage to the bedroom, so its mist can drift both ways.
2. Raise it off the floor. A side table, console or shelf at waist-to-chest height lets the cool mist spread outward before it settles, instead of pooling at floor level.
3. Find the airflow, avoid the draught. Place it in the room's gentle natural circulation, but not directly under an AC vent or fan that would blow the mist straight out.
4. Keep 30cm of clear space around it. Do not tuck it behind a sofa, curtain or TV. The mist needs open air above and around it to disperse evenly.
5. For the bedroom, mirror the logic. A
Boond (₹799) on the bedside or a dresser, raised and clear, near the airflow but not blowing straight at your pillow.

One line: raise the
Sukoon (₹1,799) off the floor, in the living-room airflow near the corridor - placement scents a 1BHK better than extra drops.
Why placement matters more than dose in a small flat
1
HEIGHT
Cool mist settles - so lift it
Sukoon · the diffuser₹1,799 Ultrasonic mist is cool and slightly heavier than the surrounding air, so it drifts downward as it spreads. A diffuser on the floor scents ankle height and the far reaches of the room stay empty. Raise the
Sukoon to waist-or-chest height on a side table and the mist has room to disperse across the whole space before it settles. In a small 1BHK this one change often fixes a 'weak' room entirely.
Tip: A shelf near the doorway is the single best spot in most 1BHK flats.
2
AIRFLOW
Ride the airflow, dodge the draught
Hotel Collection scentsFrom ₹299 You want the diffuser in the room's
gentle circulation so the scent travels, but not in a hard draught that strips it away. Directly under a running AC or in front of a fan, the mist is blown out of the room before it can settle - a classic reason a 1BHK smells faint despite a full tank. Set it a little off to the side of the vent, where the moving air carries the scent around rather than out.
3
CLEARANCE
Give it open air, not a corner
Boond · small room₹799 Tucked behind a sofa or curtain, a diffuser scents the furniture and little else. Keep roughly 30cm of clear space around and above it. Near the doorway between living room and corridor is ideal in a 1BHK - the scent greets you as you move through the flat, exactly as a hotel's does at its entrance. Open air is what turns one
Sukoon into a whole-flat scent.
Tip: Near the entry door, the scent also greets guests as they arrive.
The hero of this guide SOSA Sukoon · 500ml Ultrasonic ₹1,799 A 500ml cool-mist ultrasonic diffuser with a 7-colour mood light and quiet, long runtime - the natural home for the Hotel Collection scents. The hotel-at-home kit: one diffuser, seven scents, one small room option
The SOSA principle
In a small flat, where the diffuser sits changes the result more than how many drops you add. Height and airflow are free; fragrance is not.
Fix the spot before you reach for the bottle.
Seven hotels, one diffuser Hotel Collection Fragrance From ₹299 Water-based, ultrasonic-safe scents, each SOSA's own interpretation of a famous hotel signature - Ritz-Carlton-style white tea & cedar, Westin-style spa white tea, St. Regis-style amber & violet, and more. People add drop after drop to a diffuser on the floor. Lift it onto a side table by the door and the same three drops fill the whole flat.

Sizes & how to use: every scent comes as 15ml (₹299, to try), 100ml (₹999, the value bottle) or 300ml (₹1,799, best per-ml); the 15ml
Pack of 7 (₹1,799) is the whole wardrobe. Add just 3-6 drops to the Sukoon's water tank and adjust to taste - a little goes a long way - and rinse the tank when you switch scents so each stays true. These are water-based, ultrasonic-safe fragrances made for SOSA diffusers; do not substitute raw essential or carrier oils, which can clog the misting plate. The scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by (not affiliated with) the named hotels. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
When the room is big or open-plan SOSA Vaayu · Waterless Cold-Air ₹11,999 The Sukoon is perfect for a bedroom or a normal living room; for a large, open-plan or high-ceilinged space - or if you want zero added humidity in already-humid coastal air - step up to the waterless Vaayu (up to 1000m³, app + timers). For a whole home, the ducted Aangan (₹25,999) carries one signature through every room. Compare Sukoon vs Vaayu →

Frequently asked questions
Can I put the diffuser on the floor?
Better not to. Cool mist settles, so a floor-level
Sukoon scents ankle height and leaves the room's far corners empty. Raise it to waist-or-chest height on a side table and the scent spreads across the whole space.
Is it safe near the TV or electronics?
Keep a diffuser a sensible distance - at least 30cm - from a TV or laptop, since it emits a fine mist. Place it on a side table a little away from electronics, in open air, and there is no issue. This also helps the mist disperse rather than pooling.
Where in the bedroom should the Boond go?
On the bedside table or a dresser, raised and with clear space around it, near the room's airflow but not blowing straight at your pillow. Run the
Boond on intermittent mode overnight so it lasts till morning.
My 1BHK still smells weak - is it placement?
Very likely. Before adding drops, move the
Sukoon off the floor, away from the AC vent, and near the doorway into the airflow. If a large open living area still reads faint far from the machine, that space wants a
Vaayu (₹11,999).
Should it go near the entry door or in the middle of the room?
Near the doorway that connects the living room to the rest of the flat is usually best in a 1BHK - the scent drifts into both zones and greets you as you move through. A spot near the entry door adds a lovely 'welcome' effect for guests.
Bring the lobby home
Raise it, clear it, catch the airflow - and one diffuser scents the whole 1BHK
Placement is free. Put the Sukoon on a side table by the corridor before you ever add another drop.

Editorial standards & sources
About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the technique applies to any brand's ultrasonic system.
Facts verified August 2026: An ultrasonic diffuser disperses a water-based fragrance as a cool micro-mist, scenting a room without heat or flame and adding a little humidity. Great hotels use commercial HVAC scenting to create a signature smell; at home the same effect comes from a diffuser plus a hotel-inspired blend. SOSA Sukoon is a 500ml ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser with a 7-colour mood light (₹1,799); Boond is a 300ml mini ultrasonic diffuser (₹799); both run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. The Hotel Collection comes in seven scents (Ritz-Carlton, Westin, 1 Hotels, St. Regis, Shangri-La, Four Seasons and W Hotels styles) in 15ml (₹299), 100ml (₹999) and 300ml (₹1,799), plus 15ml Pack of 7 (₹1,799); dose 3-6 drops per tank, use SOSA diffuser fragrance only (not raw essential/carrier oils), and rinse between scents. For large, open-plan or high-humidity spaces the waterless SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³) adds no humidity; the Aangan (₹25,999) is a whole-home HVAC system. The scents are SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
