Warm wood and oud for a classic interior
Candle or reed diffuser? For a traditional room I would lead with the Oud ceramic candle for evening ceremony, and keep a soft floral or lavender reed diffuser running for the daytime base.
Is oud too strong for a home? Used sensibly, no. A single Oud candle lit in the evening fills a traditional room with warmth without becoming overpowering. You control it by how long you burn it.
Which SOSA scents suit a traditional home
Traditional interiors carry depth and warmth, so the fragrance should too. Where a modern room wants the cleanest possible scent, a traditional room can hold something far richer without feeling heavy - because the room itself is rich.
For daytime, when you do not want a candle burning, keep a reed diffuser running. Garden Bloom (soft floral) or Evening Calm (lavender) give a gentle, warm base that does not compete with the Oud candle you light later. A Sandalwood wax melt (₹474) is another lovely flame-free way to bring warm wood into the room during the day.
Building an evening scent ritual
Traditional homes suit ritual, and scent is part of that. Rather than scenting heavily all day, I would build a small evening ceremony around the Oud candle.
| Time of day | What I would use | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Daytime | Garden Bloom or Evening Calm reed | Soft, warm background scent |
| Daytime, flame-free | Sandalwood wax melt + burner | Warm wood without a candle |
| Evening | Oud ceramic candle | Rich, ceremonial depth and glow |
Light the Oud candle when the day winds down - over dinner, with guests, or while you read. Because it scents the room mainly while it is lit, you get richness when you want it and a quieter base the rest of the time. One honest point: a candle adds warmth, glow and scent while burning, but it is not a whole-day air freshener, and no scent replaces airing the room.

Versailles
I trained as a perfumer at ISIPCA in Versailles, and home fragrance is where I get to think room by room - a flame-free reed diffuser for the hall, a hand-poured candle for the evening, a wax melt when you want to change the mood without a match.
Our reed diffusers are alcohol-free and flame-free, our candles hand-poured from a natural soy blend, all built from real materials and IFRA-compliant. I would rather tell you which format suits which room than sell you the most expensive one.
Buy well, not by reflex. If another brand is honestly made, light it happily. I just wanted home scent with the precision of a trained nose and a label that tells you the truth.
