Ask an owner how the vehicle smelled on a good day and they will tell you. Ask what the air-conditioning was doing, how fast the fan ran and who was sitting where, and most cannot say. That gap is the difference between an impression and a record.
Quick answers — read this first
Should a record include AC mode and fan speed? Yes, along with the rows occupied. Those three change what the air does, and without them a note about how a fragrance felt cannot be compared with any other note, including your own from last week.

What makes my own notes worth anything? Comparability and attribution. The same fields every time, one change at a time, and the unflattering entries kept as carefully as the flattering ones. The volume of notes is not the point.

Does SOSA hold any data on three-row cabins? No. SOSA has run no study of this and the page reports nothing. It sets out what a credible record would contain, so that yours can be worth keeping and the gap in what anyone can say is plain.
The short answer
Short answer: Yes. AC mode, fan speed and occupied rows are the minimum, with the source setting, the clocks, the judge and the one change. Without them a note is an impression and cannot be compared.
The pick: Nothing, for the record itself. If you do keep one, SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 gives you two published settings, a speed and a timer, that are easy to write down.
Next step: Keep the record for a few ordinary journeys and send us the lines, in words. We will say what it can tell you and what it cannot. Ask for a car fragrance recommendation.

Straight answer
Should SUV Fragrance Testing Record AC Mode, Fan Speed and Occupied Rows if SOSA Wants Useful Real-World Performance Data?
Yes. The three you name are the minimum, and they are the fields most often left out. Here is what a credible record contains, why each field is there, and what SOSA would still need before it could say anything general. The page reports nothing.

1. The three you name are the minimum. AC mode, fan speed and the rows occupied. Without them a note about how a fragrance felt cannot be compared with any other note, including your own from last week. Those three change what the air does, and the air is what carries the fragrance.

2. Add what changes the air and the source. Which zones were open and how the vents were aimed, where the unit sat, and the source's setting. For SOSA Safar that is a speed and a timer, both published and both easy to write down.

3. Add the people and the clocks. Who judged, from which row, whether they had just arrived, and their words, faint, right or strong. And two clocks: how long since the AC started, how long since the machine did, and whether a timer had ended.

4. Record the one change, and only that. Something changed since the last record, or nothing did. A record with two changes cannot be attributed to either, and a record that only gets written when something was altered misses the plain ones.

5. Keep the dull and the unflattering. Parking and weather in words, luggage, windows, a faded source. A record written only on good days is a testimonial. It reads well and it tells you nothing.

A record is a promise to be comparable. That, and not the number of notes, is what makes it worth anything, to you or to anybody trying to say something general.
Yes. Record AC mode, fan speed and occupied rows, plus the source setting, the two clocks, the judge and the one change. This page specifies a record. SOSA has run no study and reports nothing.
If you want a source with settings that are simple to write down, that is what SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is for: three speed settings and a one, two or three-hour auto-off timer, cordless on a 2000 mAh Type-C battery, up to ten hours continuous or thirty intermittent per charge. A speed and a timer are two lines on a record sheet. Cold diffusion of pure undiluted oil, no water, no heat.

The products, and where each fits

A record needs no purchase. Keeping one is a sheet of paper and the habit of filling it in, parked. These products are here only because each makes one line of it easier or shorter, and none is sized to a cabin, because SOSA publishes no cabin figure for Safar.

The one with two published settings to log
SOSA Safar
₹3,999 for SOSA naturals trio, ₹4,499 for hotel-inspired trio. Three speed settings from light to intense and a one, two or three-hour auto-off timer, so two lines of a record are filled in without guessing. Fully cordless on a 2000 mAh Type-C battery, up to ten hours continuous or thirty intermittent. Cold diffusion of pure undiluted oil, no water, no heat. Aroma only; it does not humidify.
From ₹3,999
The one with nothing to set, only a place and an age
SOSA Vetiver Car Perfume
₹509 for hanging 12 ml, ₹509 for car perfume spray, ₹1,499 for 50 ml car perfume spray. One product, three variants: a 12 ml hanging freshener with a mild scent-throw, a spray with a strong scent-throw and a 50 ml car perfume spray. A hanging freshener has no speed or timer, so its record is the place it hangs and how long ago it was hung. That is a short record, and a perfectly good one.
From ₹509
What Safar runs on, and what a record tells you about it
SOSA Waterless Nebuliser Refills
₹1,049 for 100 g, ₹1,849 for 300 g. Pure, undiluted, water-free oil for cold-air nebulisers, in sixteen scents: seven hotel-inspired and nine SOSA naturals. Refill life depends on the speed setting and the hours run, so your own record of speed and hours is also the plainest way to know when a top-up is due. Top up Safar's bottle from a 100 g refill.

Three things a record needs

Three cards: the three fields that make a note comparable, the two that make it attributable, and what a general claim would need on top of both. None of it is a conclusion, and SOSA quotes no figure.

1
One
AC mode, fan speed, occupied rows: the three that make a note comparable
Each of the three changes what the air does. The mode decides which path the air takes through the rows, face level, floor level or mixed. The fan speed decides how much moving air arrives at the last row at all. The rows occupied decide who is there to smell it and how busy the cabin is with people, bags and open doors. Leave any one out and a note about how a fragrance felt could have been produced by the fragrance, or by the air, and nobody, including you, can tell which. They are written in words and take seconds, parked: mode, fan, rows, each followed by a blank to fill. That is the whole price of entry, and most owners' notes never pay it.
Tip: Write the three before you write how it felt. A feeling with no air around it cannot be compared with anything.
SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 adds two more lines that fill themselves in: a speed from three published settings, and a timer of one, two or three hours.
See SOSA Safar →
2
Two
Who judged, and what changed: the two that make it attributable
A note is a reading from an instrument, and the instrument here is a nose. So the record says whose: which row, whether they had just got in, and their words exactly as given, faint, right or strong, with a line for what faint meant. The driver's own verdict can go down, marked as the driver's, because a nose sitting in a steady smell stops reporting it. Then the clocks, how long since the AC started and since the machine did, and whether a timer had already ended. Then the one change since the last record, or none. Without these two fields a comparison between records is a comparison between unknowns. With them, a difference between two records points to a cause, even if it never proves one.
Tip: Mark the driver's verdict as the driver's. It is a record of a nose that has been in longest, and that is fine.
Note when you topped the bottle up, too. SOSA Waterless Nebuliser Refills are ₹1,049 for 100 g, ₹1,849 for 300 g, and a source that was low on one day and full on another is a change you would otherwise miss.
See SOSA Waterless Nebuliser Refills →

Three
What SOSA would need before it could say anything general
One owner's record is worth something to that owner, because it is comparable with their own. It says nothing general about three-row vehicles, and neither does SOSA, which has run no study and has no numbers to offer. To say something general it would need a question written down before anyone looked. It would need the same record kept the same way across many vehicles, cabins and families. It would need judges who are not the owner, and the disappointing records kept as faithfully as the pleasing ones. And it would need the method published before any conclusion, so that nobody can bend the method to suit the conclusion. None of that exists yet.
Tip: A general claim is built from many comparable records. A page that skips straight to the claim has skipped the work.
A faded hanging source is a change nobody records. SOSA Car Hanging Freshener Refills are ₹399 for 15 ml, Lemon or Jasmine, ₹429 for 15 ml, Sandalwood, Lavender or Icy Mint: write down the day you refilled one.
See SOSA Car Hanging Freshener Refills →
The SOSA principle
A note says how a fragrance felt. A record says what the air was doing, who was sitting where, who judged and what changed, and only a record can be set beside another and mean something.
Which is why the useful question is never how much to write. It is whether tomorrow's entry could be compared with today's by a stranger.

A record sheet, field by field

This is a specification of a record, not a record. The fields are blanks on purpose: a filled-in example would read as a reading, and this page quotes none. Copy the fields onto a sheet and write words, not scores.

The SOSA record sheet
Five groups of fields, and why each one earns its place
The field, and what it records Why it is there, and how to write it
Cabin and air: mode, fan speed, zones open, vent aim
These decide the path and the amount of moving air. Written as words: mode ___, fan ___, rear zone ___, rear vents ___. The cabin before the fragrance.
People: which rows were occupied, and by whom
They decide who is there to smell and how busy the cabin is. Written as rows and roles: front ___, middle ___, third ___. A solo drive and a full cabin are different records.
Source: what it is, its setting and where it sits
Product ___, speed ___, timer ___, position ___, bottle topped up on ___. For a hanging freshener: place ___ and hung or refilled on ___. View →
Clocks: since the AC started, since the machine started
Two clocks and one question. Since AC ___, since machine ___, timer already ended? ___ Use the same landmark every time, in words, not a stopwatch.
Judge and change: who, how fresh, what words, what changed
Row ___, just arrived? ___, word ___, what faint or strong meant ___, the one change since last time ___. Parked, and the driver's verdict marked as the driver's.

Nothing in that table is a conclusion, and nothing on this page should be read as one. It is the shape of a record. If you want the routine that produces records worth keeping, how to compare three rows at one setting without chasing the weakest seat is the method this sheet belongs to. For the question of whether your own nose can be trusted, how to test whether an SUV genuinely needs stronger fragrance rather than relying on your own perception is the longer argument, and for how a five-seater and a seven-seater could be compared at all, how SOSA could test the same fragrance across cabin configurations. And if you would rather describe your own record and have us read it, send us the lines, in words.

Your own record, read by a second pair of eyes
Keep the fields for a few ordinary journeys, send us the lines, in words, and we will say what the record can tell you and what it cannot.

The record is free and any source will do. A hanging freshener runs from ₹449 to ₹509 depending on the scent, and 15 ml refills are ₹399 for 15 ml, Lemon or Jasmine, ₹429 for 15 ml, Sandalwood, Lavender or Icy Mint. If you want settings that are simple to write down, Safar is ₹3,999 for SOSA naturals trio, ₹4,499 for hotel-inspired trio, and what you are buying is control, not reach, because SOSA publishes no cabin figure for it and nobody should give you one. It is aroma only and does not humidify; it does not dehumidify, dry a cabin or do anything about damp either, and if the vehicle smells of something, find the source first, let air through, and let a professional look at anything soaked. SOSA has run no study of three-row cabins, and nothing on this page should be read as one. SOSA is not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer and makes no health, wellbeing or driving-related claim of any kind. Settings are changed parked, and so is the sheet. Ours is a contact page and a person who replies: Ask for a car fragrance recommendation and send us your lines.

A note from Sonal

People ask me, fairly, what the evidence says about three-row cabins. The honest answer is that SOSA has gathered none. We have no study and no numbers, and I have tried to write this whole family of pages without pretending otherwise. What I can offer instead is an account of what would make evidence worth having, because I have spent enough time reading owners' notes to know how often they are lost for want of three missing lines.

The three lines are what you named: AC mode, fan speed, rows occupied. An owner writes that the back row said it was weak, and I have no way to know whether the fan was running, whether the rear zone was on or whether anyone was in the third row at all. The note is sincere and it is unusable. A record fixes that, and it costs seconds, parked. I would rather you kept a short record faithfully than a long one for a fortnight.

Safar is not needed for any of this. A hanging freshener has the shortest record of anything, a place and an age. Where Safar helps is that a speed and a timer are two published settings, so there is nothing to guess. I have no published figure for its reach and I will not make one up. A portion of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Which single field matters most?
None on its own, and that is the point. If you keep only three, keep the three in the title: AC mode, fan speed and the rows occupied. They change what the air does, and the air is what carries the fragrance. A note without them is an impression, however carefully it was written.
Is one owner's record worth anything to anyone else?
To that owner, yes, because it is comparable with their own. As a basis for a general claim about three-row vehicles, no, and that is the honest limit. A general claim needs the same record kept the same way across many vehicles and judges, and it needs the disappointing records kept as faithfully as the pleasing ones.
Do I need to write the weather down as a number?
No, and there is no figure to quote. Words are enough: a hot afternoon, parked in shade, a wet morning. What a row noticed depends on the air it was sitting in, which is why the record asks about the zones and the fan, and not about a number off a display.
Can I fill the sheet in, or change a setting, while driving?
Please don't. Settings are changed parked, with the handbrake on, and the sheet is filled in parked too, at the start of a journey or at a stop. If someone says something halfway, keep their words and write them down at the next stop. A single parked adjustment teaches you more than three made on the move.
Does Safar have a published cabin size?
No. SOSA publishes no coverage figure for Safar and I will not guess one. What is published is what you can control: three speed settings from light to intense, a one, two or three-hour auto-off timer, up to ten hours continuous or thirty intermittent per charge. Those are the settings a record would write down.

Facts verified 1 October 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: SOSA Safar is a cordless waterless car perfume diffuser from ₹3,999, rising to ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios. It has three speed settings and a one, two or three-hour auto-off timer, runs up to ten hours continuous or thirty hours intermittent on its 2000 mAh Type-C battery, is about nine centimetres tall, and cold-diffuses pure undiluted oil with no water, no heat and no residue. In the box: the diffuser, a 20 ml bottle, a Type-C cable and a manual. SOSA publishes no coverage figure for Safar, so this page states none and sizes it to no cabin. Safar is aroma only and does not humidify; equally it does not dehumidify, dry a cabin or fix damp. Waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 g, ₹1,849 for 300 g, in sixteen scents, shared with the SOSA Vaayu. The hanging fresheners and car perfume sprays run from ₹449 to ₹509, each one product with a mild-throw hanging variant, a stronger spray variant and a 50 ml spray; 15 ml hanging refills are ₹399 for 15 ml, Lemon or Jasmine, ₹429 for 15 ml, Sandalwood, Lavender or Icy Mint, Mysore Orange Blossom is ₹549 for 10 ml, ₹1,499 for 50 ml, and the discovery set of three is ₹699 for pack of 3 to ₹799.
