Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 11 min read Updated September 2026
Two people buy the same bottle on the same morning. One drives eleven kilometres and is in the car for twenty minutes; the other unplugs at seven and spends ninety minutes crossing Bengaluru, then ninety more coming home. That is three hours a day in a closed cabin against forty minutes, and the instinct that follows is a reasonable one: surely the long commuter should use less. The instinct is sound. What it runs into is a fact about what SOSA actually publishes, and it is worth knowing before you buy. There is no intensity setting on a car perfume spray. There is how many times you press it - and, on the hanging, a stopper. That is the entire published list of controls.
SOSA car perfume, spray or hanging, from Rs 449
SOSA car perfume · spray or hanging, same price · nine scents from ₹449 →
The choice a long commute actually presents, and it is not about strength: do you want fragrance you press, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays - three months and more at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper is the one published way to make a cabin quieter. Nothing here moves with the powertrain.
Quick answers — read this first
Should someone on a ninety-minute commute use less car fragrance than a short-hop driver? There is no dial to turn down, so the honest answer is about quantity and format rather than strength. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays and one spray covers the cabin, so using less means pressing once instead of twice, or once a day instead of once each way. The 12ml hanging is the same price for the same scent and carries the one adjustment SOSA publishes: loosen the stopper for stronger, tighten it for subtler.

Does unplugging from an overnight home charge change anything? No. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no powertrain claim at all, and the plug is not a fragrance variable. What the overnight charge really does is fix the time you get in, after the cabin has been shut for eight to ten hours - which would be just as true of any car left on the same driveway overnight.

How fast does a bottle go at that commute length? Length of journey does not empty a bottle; the number of presses does. A 10ml is 100 sprays, published as 3 months and above at one spray a day and 50 days at two a day. A ninety-minute run each way tempts a second press on the way home, and that second press is the difference between a three-month bottle and a fifty-day one.
The short answer
Short answer: A ninety-minute commute means about three hours a day inside rather than forty minutes, but SOSA publishes no intensity scale to turn down. The two published controls are how many times you press a 10ml spray, which holds 100 sprays, and the stopper on a 12ml hanging, which loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler. Sprays are Rs 449 to Rs 549 and the hanging is the same price for the same scent.
The pick: A 10ml SOSA car perfume spray, ₹449 to ₹549 - 100 sprays, one press at seven, and a deliberate decision about whether there is a second one at six.
Why: Quantity is the control, not strength. One press a day is the published 3 months and above; one each way is 50 days, and that is the whole of the difference a long commute makes.
What the car runs on is not the variable. How it is used is.On demand - 10ml spray ₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 spraysContinuous - 12ml hanging, same price, 4 to 6 weeksVentilate a hot or long-shut cabin before you judge itNever - fragrance instead of finding a smell's source
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
Straight answer
I unplug my hatchback at 7 AM and immediately begin a 90-minute Bengaluru commute. Should I apply less fragrance because I will be exposed to it continuously for much longer than a short city driver?
Your instinct is reasonable, but the thing you are reaching for does not exist. A car perfume has no strength dial, and SOSA publishes none - no light version, no concentrated version, no percentage on a label. What is published is a count and a stopper. The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays, it is a fine-mist atomizer, and the pages state that one spray covers the cabin. So the only way to use less of it is to press it fewer times: once as you get in rather than twice, or once a day rather than once at seven and once at six. The arithmetic is published too - 3 months and above at one spray a day, 50 days at two a day - which means your ninety-minute return leg is not a fragrance question so much as a bottle-life question. The other format carries the only genuine adjustment in the range. A 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in refillable glass, costs exactly the same as the spray for the same scent, and its stopper loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler. If what you actually want is a quieter cabin across three hours, that stopper is the published way to get it. Two things this page will not pretend. The car being electric has nothing to do with any of it: SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and states no powertrain difference, and the overnight charge only fixes your departure time. And SOSA is a Pune fragrance house sending orders across India - for a Bengaluru buyer this is delivery to the city, and there is no shop or counter in Bengaluru to walk into. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
There is no dial. There is a press count and a stopper, and both of them are published.
The quick version for a three-hour day: a 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 and one press at seven, which is the published three months and more; a second press at six if the return leg asks for it, which is fifty days instead; or a 12ml hanging at the same price with the stopper tightened, when what you want is a quieter cabin rather than a rarer one.
SOSA car perfumes from ₹449

Three hours a day inside, and what you can actually adjust

The question assumes a strength control and then asks where to set it. Start instead from the three things that are genuinely in your hands on a three-hour-a-day commute, because two of them are printed on the product and the third is the car itself.

01
Exposure hours
Three hours a day, not forty minutes - and that changes the bottle, not the formula
A ninety-minute run each way puts somebody in a closed cabin for roughly three hours out of twenty-four, which is about three times what a short city hop does. That is a real difference and it deserves a real answer, but the answer is not a weaker product. It is that you are the person who experiences the whole of whatever you choose, so a scent you find slightly too much at minute five will still be slightly too much at minute eighty. Short-hop drivers can tolerate a choice they half regret because the journey ends. You cannot, and that is the honest reason to start at the quiet end of the range and work up rather than down.
Tip: A long sit does not need less fragrance. It needs a choice you are still happy with at minute eighty.
02
The two published controls
A press count on the spray, a stopper on the hanging, and nothing else
This is the part the category usually fudges. SOSA publishes no intensity scale, no oil percentage and no grading beyond the two format names themselves - the spray variant is listed as strong scent-throw and the hanging as mild scent-throw, and that is a two-point distinction rather than a dial. So the controls are these. On the spray: how many times you press it. A 10ml holds 100 sprays, one covers the cabin, and pressing once instead of twice halves everything about your day. On the hanging: the stopper. Loosen it for stronger, tighten it for subtler, and it stays where you left it for the 4 to 6 weeks the bottle runs. Anybody offering you a third control on a car perfume is offering you something SOSA does not publish.
03
What the plug is not
The overnight charge sets your departure time and nothing else
It is worth saying flatly, because the question arrives wrapped around it. SOSA publishes no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product, and no claim that a fragrance behaves differently in any of them. A perfume sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it; that situation is not altered by what turns the wheels. Home charging is not a fragrance variable either. What the charge does is guarantee two things that are worth knowing: the cabin has been shut since last night, and you are getting in at a fixed hour rather than a random one. Both are facts about parking and routine, not about propulsion, and both would hold for a petrol hatchback on the same driveway.
Tip: Two commuters need different answers, but never because one of them plugs in.
SOSA Mysore Orange Blossom car perfume spray, 10ml and 50ml
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
See Mysore Orange Blossom from ₹549 →
Work it out in this order
How to decide it in four moves, in this order
  1. Start at the quiet end. You are the one sitting in it for ninety minutes each way.
  2. Decide your press count before you buy. One a day is 100 days; two a day is 50.
  3. If you want quieter rather than rarer, buy the hanging and tighten the stopper.
  4. Ignore the plug entirely. It fixes your departure hour, not your fragrance.
The SOSA principle
Pressing the atomizer once instead of twice is the only way to use less of a SOSA spray, because the only other number on the bottle is 100 sprays.
Which is why the format question matters more on a long commute than the scent question does.

Which scent for a long sit, and in which of the two formats

Because the two formats cost the same for the same scent, nothing about a three-hour day forces a compromise. The nine are genuinely spread out and the softer end is the sensible place to start a long sit. Jasmine at ₹449 and Lavender at ₹479 are the quietest the range publishes, with Lavender described as the softest of all. Icy Mint at ₹489, Lemon at ₹499 and Sea Breeze at ₹509 are the bright ones. Sandalwood at ₹479, Vetiver at ₹509 and Oud at ₹509 are the deep end, Oud deepest of them - a considered choice for ninety minutes, not an obvious one. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only, so if the stopper is the control you want, that one is out.

The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to handle three hours a day, and where each one lets you down
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
One press at seven, nothing at six The simplest answer and the published 3 months and above at one spray a day. It lets you down on the return leg, when the cabin is at its most lived-in and you will be tempted - and a tempted second press is a decision, not a fault.
One press each way Honest about how the day actually goes, and it is 50 days at two a day out of a 100-spray bottle. It lets you down at the till, because you will be replacing the bottle roughly seven times a year rather than four.
A 12ml hanging, stopper tightened The one published way to make a cabin quieter rather than less frequent. The hanging costs the same price as the spray and the bottle runs 4 to 6 weeks. It lets you down when you want a change for one particular journey, because it does not switch off.
A 50ml spray at ₹1,499 500 sprays and about a year and more. The right size for somebody who already knows they press twice a day. It lets you down if you have not yet tested that, because there is no spray refill and no way to undo the choice.
SOSA Lavender car perfume, spray and hanging formats
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
See SOSA car perfumes from ₹449 →

Two practical notes for anybody buying at the long end of the commute range. 15ml refills exist for the hanging only, at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents in a refillable glass bottle, while a spray is replaced rather than topped up and Orange Blossom has no refill at all. And everything in the car range is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity - a statement about how the formula is built, not a claim that it behaves differently in one season from another. If this is a gift for somebody else's long drive, custom label or logo on product is the one branding option: no custom box, no printed sleeve, no insert card.

The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.

One message, one honest recommendation
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.

You cannot turn a car perfume down. You can press it once instead of twice, or tighten a stopper - and those are the only two things anybody publishes.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.

The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
Product What it is What it is for Price
SOSA car perfume spray - 10ml Fragrance you switch on ₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin from ₹449
SOSA car hanging - 12ml Fragrance that simply runs The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler from ₹449
SOSA car perfume spray - 50ml The long-run size ₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out ₹1,499
Car perfume combos Two scents, one purchase ₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs from ₹899
Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set Three to try ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays, or ₹2,999 for all nine. Nine published combinations, and those nine are the whole range - none is composed to order from ₹699
Hanging refills - 15ml Only the hanging refills ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you from ₹399
SOSA Safar The powered option ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder from ₹3,999

The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.

What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.

So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.

And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.

Frequently asked questions

Does an electric hatchback need a lighter fragrance than a petrol one?
No. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and makes no claim that a fragrance behaves differently according to what turns the wheels. A perfume sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it, and that is the same situation in either car. What genuinely varies between two drivers is how long they are inside, where the car is parked and who else is in it.
Is there a lighter version of a SOSA car spray for long journeys?
There is no light or concentrated version and no intensity scale published anywhere in the range. The spray variant is listed as strong scent-throw and the hanging as mild scent-throw, and that two-point distinction is the whole of it. To use less of a spray you press it fewer times; to make a hanging quieter you tighten the stopper.
How many sprays does a 10ml bottle hold?
A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, with the working given on the product pages: 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. A 50ml is 500 sprays and is stated as lasting about a year and more. Those are the only usage figures SOSA publishes for the sprays.
Does charging at home overnight affect the fragrance in the cabin?
No, and SOSA publishes nothing about charging. What is relevant is the same thing that would be relevant on a petrol car left on the same driveway: the cabin has been shut for eight to ten hours, and whether it is warm or cool when you get in is a question about where it was parked.
Can I buy a SOSA car perfume over the counter in Bengaluru?
SOSA is a Pune fragrance house that sends orders across India, so Bengaluru is a delivery address rather than a place with a counter. If you want a recommendation before ordering, WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 and describe the commute, the parking and who else drives the car.

What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
