In an Indian monsoon the complete dry is the step that fails, and linen put away at ninety per cent dry is the single most common source of the faint cupboard smell people try to cover with a sachet. The most useful thing that training gave me has nothing to do with fragrance: it is the habit of walking into a room and asking, one sense at a time, what is happening here. Most people who say a hotel felt wonderful and their home does not are describing a sound problem and a smell problem while looking at the furniture.
