Convert to volume before you believe any square-foot rating
A double-height lobby is worth more than another room
Every rating you will read, including ours, converts a cubic figure into a square-foot range by assuming an ordinary ceiling. A bigger team means the level drifts unless it is locked
In a 400 sq ft clinic one person controls the machine. In a 2,400 sq ft centre, six or eight people can reach it, and on a slow afternoon somebody will turn it up because they have been in the building since nine and cannot smell it any more. That is not carelessness, it is how noses work - and it is why the key-lock and the fixed timer schedule matter more at this size than the intensity dial does. Set the level by walking in from outside after a break, confirm it with the front desk after a full week, lock it, and write the schedule into the opening routine. The message I get from founders at this size usually reads like a bigger version of the small-clinic message: two thousand four hundred square feet, four theatres, what do you recommend. And the honest reframe is that the extra square footage has not made the fragrance problem bigger. It has made it smaller and stricter, because almost everything you have added is a room where fragrance does not belong.
So I ask for the plan with every room labelled by function and I send it back with most of it crossed out. What survives is an entrance, a reception, a waiting area and the corridor between them - six or seven hundred square feet of a two-and-a-half-thousand-square-foot building. That is one machine's work, comfortably, on a low setting. The difficulty at this size is not power. It is discipline across a bigger team, which is why the key-lock and a written list of unscented rooms matter more here than any specification on the box.
