This is the one launch question with an arithmetic answer, and the arithmetic is not floor area. A large hall is a volume, a marquee is a very tall volume, and once you multiply by height the count usually comes out smaller than the event team expected - one big machine rather than six small ones.
Quick answers — read this first
How many scent machines does a large property launch event need? Fewer than most event teams expect, but bigger ones. Multiply the hall's length by width by height to get cubic metres, then divide by 3,000m³, which is what one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) covers - roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft. A typical banquet launch is one Angaan, plus one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for the registration foyer if that is a separate volume. Six small machines spread across one hall is the wrong answer at any size.

Does a marquee need more scent machines than a banquet hall? Usually, and the reason is height rather than area. A marquee at six or seven metres holds nearly twice the air of a banquet hall with the same footprint, so a 6,000 sq ft marquee can work out at close to 3,900m³, which is at or beyond one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999). Always calculate the volume, including the peak height of the structure, before deciding the count.

Can several small machines cover a large launch hall? No, and it is the most common mistake at this scale. Small machines placed around a big room create strong pockets near each unit and gaps in between, so the hall smells uneven, which reads as a device rather than a building. One SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) covering 3,000m³ on the room's own airflow gives a single even level from the stage to the back row.
The short answer
Short answer: calculate the volume including the ceiling or marquee height, then divide by 3,000m³ for the SOSA Angaan (₹25,999), which covers about 8,000-10,000 sq ft - a typical large launch is one Angaan for the hall plus one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for a separate registration foyer, and never a scatter of small machines across one volume.
The pick: the SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) for the main hall or marquee, with a SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) added only for a genuinely separate foyer, registration marquee or preview room.
Next step: send the hall dimensions including the ceiling or peak height and we will do the volume maths - book a free scenting plan.
Counting machines for a large property launch eventBanquet hall 9,000 sq ft at 4m - about 3,300m³ - one SOSA Angaan ₹25,999Marquee 6,000 sq ft at 7m - about 3,900m³ - one Angaan, sized for the heightHall over 12,000 sq ft or split by drapes - two Angaan, one per zoneRegistration foyer up to 3,000 sq ft - one SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999Never six Vaayu across one hall - six corners, one confused room
The trap in a large launch is height. A marquee at seven metres holds nearly twice the air of a banquet hall of the same footprint, and floor-area rules of thumb collapse completely. Multiply length by width by height, then divide by 3,000m³ for the Angaan.
The large-launch shortlist - tap either machine
Straight answer
How many scent machines does a large property launch event actually need?
Do the volume, not the floor plan. Multiply length by width by height in metres for each enclosed area, then divide by the coverage of the machine: one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) is rated to 3,000m³, described as roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, and one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. A 9,000 sq ft hotel banquet hall at a four-metre ceiling is roughly 3,300m³, which is one Angaan. A 6,000 sq ft marquee peaking at seven metres is close to 3,900m³, despite having a third less floor area, which is the trap that catches almost everyone: height is what makes a launch venue large, not footprint. Once the hall itself is settled, count the genuinely separate volumes around it. A registration marquee, an enclosed foyer or a preview room with its own air is a separate body of air and takes a Vaayu of its own. A drape across a hall is not a separate volume, because air moves straight under and around it. What you should not do is spread six small machines across one large hall. That produces a strong pocket near each unit and a gap between them, so guests walk through a fragrance that comes and goes, which reads as equipment rather than as a building. One machine sized to the air is quieter, cheaper and more even. Two practical notes for a big launch: the doors will stay open all evening, so place machines on the inward air path well inside the entrance rather than near the doors, and where the venue permits it, connect the Angaan to the house air handling so the room's own airflow does the distribution. A free scenting plan will do the volume maths from your hall dimensions, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Length times width times height, divided by 3,000m³ for an Angaan or 1000m³ for a Vaayu. In a marquee, the height is the number that decides it.
For a large launch hall the machine is the SOSA Angaan - rated to 3,000m³ (about 8,000-10,000 sq ft), with an 800ml reservoir, a metal body, programmable schedules and under 42dB running. It connects to the venue's air handling or runs standalone on a wall or lay-flat mount in a marquee with no ducting at all.

The two machines a large launch uses

Two machines and one piece of arithmetic. The Angaan takes the main volume, the Vaayu takes any genuinely separate smaller one, and the split is decided by cubic metres.

SOSA Angaan

SOSA Angaan
HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, with an 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules and under 42dB running. Connects to the venue's air handling where permitted, or runs standalone wall-mounted or lay-flat in a marquee with no ducting.

SOSA Vaayu
Registration, foyer or a separate preview room
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. 0.9kg and freestanding, so it covers a registration marquee or an enclosed foyer without any installation at all. 400ml tank lasting up to 75 days, under 38dB, key-lock.

SOSA Angaan
A hall over 12,000 sq ft or split into zones
SOSA Angaan (second unit)
Where a single venue runs well beyond 3,000m³, or is genuinely divided into separately serviced zones, the answer is a second Angaan on the second zone rather than a scatter of small machines. Send the dimensions and we will confirm the split before you order.

SOSA Angaan HVAC Nebulising Diffuser
3,000m³ coverage, roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, with an 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB. Connects to the building's HVAC and carries scent on the existing airflow, and also works standalone wall-mounted or lay-flat. Made in India.

Counting machines for a marquee or banquet volume

Three things decide the count at this scale, and the first one is the one most event plans get wrong before they start.

1
Height, not footprint
A marquee at seven metres holds nearly twice the air of a hall at four
Large launch venues are tall, and that is exactly where floor-area rules of thumb collapse. A 6,000 sq ft marquee peaking at seven metres works out near 3,900m³. A 9,000 sq ft banquet hall at four metres is about 3,300m³. The bigger-looking room needs less machine. Always take the height from the actual structure drawing rather than assuming a standard ceiling, and for a peaked marquee use an average between the eaves and the peak rather than the peak itself.
Tip: measure the height first - in a marquee it changes the answer more than the floor area does.
SOSA Angaan
The Angaan covers 3,000m³, so the volume figure translates directly into a machine count with no interpretation needed.
See SOSA Angaan →
2
One machine per volume, not per corner
Six small units in one hall smell like six small units
The instinct at scale is to distribute, and it is wrong. Small machines spread through a large room produce a strong pocket at each one and a gap between them, so guests walk through a fragrance that comes and goes. That unevenness is what makes a room smell of equipment. A single machine sized to the volume, working with the room's own air movement, holds one level everywhere. Distribute only when the venue is genuinely split into separately serviced volumes, and a drape across a hall does not count as one.
SOSA Vaayu
A Vaayu belongs in a genuinely separate volume - a registration marquee or an enclosed foyer - not as one of six scattered through the main hall.
See SOSA Vaayu →
3
Count the volumes around the hall
Registration, foyer and preview rooms are separate air
Once the hall is settled, walk the guest journey and note every enclosed space with its own air: the registration marquee, an air-conditioned foyer, a preview or VIP room, the sample flat if it is on site. Each of those up to 1000m³ takes a Vaayu. What does not take a machine is anything open to the sky - porte-cocheres, walkways and podium decks cannot hold a fragrance no matter how hard you run a unit, and money spent there is money not spent indoors.
Tip: if it has a roof and a door, count it. If it is open to the air, skip it.
SOSA Vaayu
The Vaayu is 0.9kg on a 5W supply, so adding a separate volume to the plan costs ₹11,999 and about ten minutes.
See SOSA Vaayu →
The SOSA principle
At launch scale, the count is not a budget question. It is arithmetic, and the arithmetic usually says one machine where the plan said six.
A hall that smells the same at the stage and at the back row is the only version of this that reads as luxury.
SOSA Vaayu
For the separate volumes: SOSA Vaayu covers 1000m³ - about 2,000-3,000 sq ft - freestanding at 0.9kg, so a registration marquee or enclosed foyer takes one, ₹11,999.

Getting the machine into a large hired venue is a separate problem from counting them, and marquees in particular have no ducting to connect to - the guide on the best scent machine setup for a project launch covers mounting, power and what a venue will approve. Once the count is settled, the fragrance running across all of those machines should be the same one, chosen on the signature fragrance guide for a luxury property launch. Guests never count the machines. They only notice when the fragrance comes and goes as they walk, and that is what six small units guarantee.

The SOSA large launch specification

Two machines, and the arithmetic decides which. The Angaan takes the main hall or marquee at 3,000m³, connected to house air handling or standing alone where there is no ducting; the Vaayu takes any genuinely separate smaller volume at 1000m³. Both are waterless, so nothing damp reaches a hired floor, and both are made in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A quick word on counting: take the height from the structure drawing, use an average height for a peaked marquee, and treat a drape as decoration rather than as a wall. One honest note - fragrance works alongside the venue's ventilation and cleaning, cannot cover fresh paint, adhesive or damp under a temporary floor, and SOSA makes no claim that scent influences a purchase decision. A note from Sonal

The plans that arrive for large launches almost always have too many machines on them. Six units dotted around a banquet hall, one per pillar, because that is how lighting is planned and it feels intuitive. Fragrance does not work like lighting. Light is additive and local; scent moves with air, and six sources in one moving body of air do not add up to an even room. They add up to six noticeable places and a lot of ordinary ones in between.

So at this scale I size for the volume and use one machine. An Angaan covers 3,000m³, roughly 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft, either on the venue's own air handling or standing alone in a marquee where there is nothing to connect to. Around it, any genuinely separate volume - a registration marquee, an enclosed foyer - takes a Vaayu at 1000m³. And measure the height. A marquee at seven metres holds nearly twice the air of a banquet hall of the same footprint, and that single number changes the answer more often than anything else on the drawing.

The honest part, which matters more at a big event than a small one: fragrance works alongside the venue's ventilation, not instead of it. A crowded hall needs air changes, and a temporary floor over damp ground, fresh paint or new carpet adhesive will smell of exactly that no matter what you run. We also make no claim that scent influences a purchase decision. Everything is made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

How many scent machines does a 10,000 sq ft launch hall need?
One, in most cases. A 10,000 sq ft hall at a four-metre ceiling is roughly 3,700 cubic metres, which is at the top of what one SOSA Angaan at Rs 25,999 covers, since it is rated to 3,000 cubic metres or about 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft. Add a SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 only for a genuinely separate volume such as a registration marquee or an enclosed foyer.
Does a marquee need more machines than a banquet hall of the same size?
Usually yes, because of height. A 6,000 sq ft marquee peaking at seven metres holds close to 3,900 cubic metres, while a 9,000 sq ft banquet hall at four metres holds about 3,300. The smaller-looking structure is the larger volume. Always calculate from the structure drawing and use an average height between eaves and peak.
Can we use several small machines across a big hall instead of one large one?
No. Small machines spread through one volume create a strong pocket at each unit and a gap between them, so the fragrance comes and goes as guests walk, which reads as equipment rather than as a building. One machine sized to the volume gives a single even level from the stage to the back row.
Do we need extra machines because the doors stay open all evening?
No, you need better placement. Put machines on the inward air path well inside the entrance rather than near the doors, where a draught would carry the fragrance straight outside. Running more machines to fight an open door wastes fragrance and still does not work.
What about the open podium, lawn or walkway?
Leave them unscented. Air moves freely in an open space and a fragrance dilutes to nothing within seconds, so no machine count fixes it. Scent the enclosed volumes only, and spend the saved machine on the foyer or preview room instead.
