A car is the smallest space any of us scents, and the one we sit closest to. Two or three cubic metres of air, a metre from your face, with the windows up and the heater on for four months of the year. I say this to customers constantly and it still surprises people: almost every car fragrance problem I am sent is a dose problem, not a scent problem. The bottle is not weak and the oil is not wrong. The cabin simply gives fragrance nowhere to go, and winter takes away the little ventilation that was rescuing you in October.
That is why we sell the hanging bottle and the spray at the same price. They are the same oil. One gives you a mild level that is always there and asks nothing of you; the other gives you a strong level the moment you decide you want one. Neither is the better product, and pricing them differently would only push people toward whichever we wanted to sell. Choose by how you drive: a long daily commute is a hanging car, a car that matters most when somebody else gets into it is a spray car, and plenty of people quite sensibly run both.

Frequently asked questions
Which lasts longer, the hanging bottle or the spray?
They measure duration differently, so the comparison needs care. The hanging 12ml runs continuously for four to six weeks, which is 28 to 42 days of mild ambient diffusion whether you drive or not, and then you refill the same glass with a 15ml refill from Rs 399 for another four to six weeks. The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays, so its life depends entirely on use: about 50 days at two sprays a day, or three months and more at one a day, and one a day is the realistic number for most people in a sedan. The 50ml spray at Rs 1,499 holds 500 sprays, which is a year or more at that rate and roughly 63 per cent less per spray. Neither format is more economical in the abstract; it depends on how often you actually want the fragrance.
Can I buy both, or is that overkill for a new car?
It is completely normal, and since they cost the same there is no premium for it. The usual arrangement is a hanging bottle holding a low steady baseline so the car has a character rather than a state, plus a spray in the door pocket for the specific occasions when you want to set the cabin deliberately. Two refinements make it work better. Run the same scent in both, because two different registers in three cubic metres collide rather than layer. And run the hanging bottle lower than you would if it were alone, because on the days you spray you are adding to an existing level rather than starting from nothing - and in a closed winter cabin those two sources accumulate rather than clearing.
Is a hanging bottle safe to hang in a brand new car?
Yes, with two instructions that are not optional. First, safety: it must be small, secure and out of your sightline, and it must never obstruct your view of the road. That comes before every aesthetic or fragrance consideration on this page. Second, SOSA's own product instruction is to avoid direct contact between the bottle and leather, fabric or the dashboard, which in practice means hanging it so it does not rest or swing against a trim surface. The bottle is sealed refillable glass rather than an open vessel, and the fragrance is alcohol-free on an oil and water-based carrier rather than ethanol, which SOSA states means no flammability risk on a hot dashboard. None of that is a reason to let it touch an interior surface.
What about a vent clip or a plug-in for a new car?
SOSA does not make either, so we have nothing to sell you there and no reason to recommend one. If you want a device rather than a bottle in a new car, the Safar's timer is the genuinely useful feature, because it lets the cabin be scented for a defined window rather than continuously. Keep it in the cup holder or a door pocket rather than in direct sun on a closed dashboard for long periods, and avoid thick, sticky or water-based blends, which can clog the mechanism.
Does the format change how strong the car smells in winter?
Both formats read stronger in winter for the same reason, so the correction is the same either way: closed windows and a running heater mean almost no air exchange in the cabin and warmer air lifting fragrance faster off any source, so the same bottle and the same number of sprays land harder in January than they did in October. Nothing has changed except the physics. With a hanging bottle you tighten the adjustable stopper, which takes five seconds. With a spray you use one where you used two. The move is down, not up, and it is worth revisiting a few weeks into heater season rather than only once. A car cabin is roughly 2.5 to 4 cubic metres, a fraction of any room, so under-dosing is the sensible default all year.
