Daytime · Adaa ₹669
Evening · Mastani ₹685
Classical · Ameeri ₹679
Deepest · Nawaab ₹699
Trio 6ml ₹1,859
For evening: Mastani — night-blooming jasmine, Damask rose, oudh. 6ml ₹685, 12ml ₹1,179.
For her bag: a solid body perfume, 15g, ₹459–₹549 — no spillage, no spraying in public, reapplication at a desk.
Between siblings only: the 3ml sizes at ₹379–₹389 work as a sampler, because a sister is the one recipient you can ask afterwards which one she kept — and then buy that one in 12ml.
The honest gap: SOSA has no room spray or home spray at all — every SOSA spray is a car perfume — no gift card, and no oud, sandalwood or amber reed diffuser. Nawaab is a personal attar and does not make one exist.
2. Choose by when she would wear it. Adaa — bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac and white musk — is the daytime attar: bright at the top, close enough for an office, quiet enough for a meeting. Mastani — night-blooming jasmine, Damask rose and oudh — is the evening one: deeper, denser, built for a lit room and a longer wear. That single question does more work than any amount of guessing about her taste.
3. Buy 6ml or 12ml, not 3ml. 6ml is ₹669 for Adaa, ₹679 for Ameeri, ₹685 for Mastani and ₹699 for Nawaab. 12ml is ₹1,149, ₹1,165, ₹1,179 and ₹1,199. The 3ml at ₹379–₹399 is a lovely object and it reads as a sample — except between siblings, where it has a specific and honest use, explained below.
4. Add a solid perfume at ₹459–₹549 if she reapplies during the day. Fifteen grams in a tin, no liquid, no spraying in a shared office, nothing to leak in a handbag. It is the format that survives a commute, and it is the second thing fragrance lovers say they did not know they wanted.
5. Do not gender the choice. None of the four attars is composed for a sex. Rose is not a feminine material and oud is not a masculine one — Nawaab's white royal oud with Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron is as available to her as any of the others, and it is the deepest thing in the line. Route by hour and by intensity, never by the colour of the label.
Alcohol-free, phthalate-free, IFRA-compliant, composed in Pune. Free shipping above ₹499. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Why the format matters more than the scent
If you take nothing else from this page, take this: for a recipient who already loves fragrance, the interesting variable is not which smell you choose but which kind of thing you give her. Three formats are available at SOSA for the person rather than the room, and they do genuinely different jobs.
Ameerifrom ₹385An alcohol spray works by evaporating: it throws a loud opening into the air, that opening burns off within minutes, and what she is left wearing is the part she chose least. An attar is oil, so almost none of that happens. There is no flash, the top is quieter, the wear is closer to the skin, and the composition unfolds in contact with her rather than in the room. The practical consequence is that an attar is wearable in situations where a spray is not — a shared office, a small car, a meeting, a hot afternoon, a temple, a flight. That is a slot in her week that her collection almost certainly does not cover, which is why this lands on someone who appears to have everything.
Solid perfumefrom ₹459Fifteen grams of solid body perfume in a tin, ₹459–₹549 across the range — Sway ₹459, Velour ₹479, Siren ₹489, Storm ₹529, Beast ₹549 among them. No liquid, nothing to leak, nothing to declare, and no spraying in a room full of colleagues. It is applied with a fingertip at the pulse points and reapplied without ceremony at two in the afternoon, which is when most fragrance actually needs reapplying and when almost nobody carries a bottle. It is the least glamorous format and the one most often used every single day. As a gift it works best alongside an attar rather than instead of one, and at this price it can be the second half of a present without inflating it.
Attar triofrom ₹1,055I usually say a 3ml is a sample rather than a gift, and for most recipients that is exactly right. A sister is the exception, for one reason that has nothing to do with money: you can ask her afterwards. Give the three-millilitre sizes at ₹379–₹389, or the trio of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani at ₹1,055, find out a month or two later which one she has actually been wearing, and buy that one in 12ml when the occasion next arises. With a colleague or an in-law that follow-up conversation is awkward and usually never happens; with a sibling it is a text message. Treat the small size as reconnaissance rather than as a compromise, and say so when you hand it over.
Choosing by the hour of her day
Fragrance is usually sold by identity — this one is for a certain kind of person — and that framing is almost useless when you are buying for somebody else, because you would have to guess which kind of person she thinks she is. Hour is a far better axis, because it is observable. You know whether she is at a desk by nine. You know whether she goes out in the evenings. You know whether her week is meetings or studio or school run, and every one of those answers points at a different intensity. Buy for a slot in her day and you are giving her something she can use tomorrow, rather than something she will admire and keep for an occasion that does not arrive.
Adaa is the daytime answer. Bergamot and green cardamom at the top, jasmine sambac in the heart, white musk underneath — it is bright without being sharp, and the cardamom keeps it from collapsing into ordinary citrus. It reads well in daylight and in shared air. Mastani is the evening one: night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose over oudh, denser and slower, made for a lit room and a longer wear. Between them sits Ameeri, Taif rose over Indian sandalwood with saffron and a soft oudh, which is the most classical of the four and the one I would choose for a sister whose taste runs formal. And Nawaab — white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron — is the deepest thing in the line and the only oud anywhere at SOSA.
A word about that last point, because the assumption is so common it is worth dismantling. None of these four is composed for a sex. Rose is not a feminine material — some of the most demanding rose compositions in perfumery are worn by men, and Taif rose is a raw material, not a gender. Oud is not a masculine one either; the idea that it is comes from marketing rather than from the material, which is simply a deep, resinous, animalic wood. If your sister likes intensity, buy her Nawaab and do not apologise for it. If she likes brightness, buy her Adaa. The question is how much she wants to be noticed and at what hour, and it has no other content than that.
All four attars, in all three sizes
The complete attar line with what is in each, when it belongs, and every size and price. The trio contains Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani. The last row is what does not exist, because a fragrance lover will ask.

What an attar cannot do
The most useful thing I can tell you about this gift is where it stops. An attar is a personal fragrance and it does nothing whatever for a room. If what your sister actually loves is the way a house smells — if the thing she comments on is other people's halls rather than other people's wrists — then she is not the recipient this page describes, and the right gift is a reed diffuser at ₹749–₹1,349 or a duo at ₹1,498–₹1,598. Those are two different appetites that get confused constantly because both are called loving fragrance.
There is also no SOSA room spray or home spray of any kind, which surprises people who assume a fragrance house must sell one. Every SOSA spray is a car perfume, sold at ₹449–₹1,499 for use in a vehicle rather than a living room. And while the attar line does contain an oud in Nawaab, that does not mean an oud reed diffuser exists — it does not, nor a sandalwood, vetiver or amber one. I would rather state that plainly than let a fragrance-literate sister discover the gap after the box is open, because she is precisely the person who will notice.
SOSA also sells a line of full personal perfumes described on the store as inspired by well-known designer fragrances. I mention them because you will see them, and I steer gifting readers to the attars instead: the attars are our own compositions, they carry no third-party name, and there is nothing in the experience of receiving one that requires an explanation. An inspired-by perfume is never the same as, equal to, or indistinguishable from the fragrance that inspired it, and a gift that needs that caveat attached to it is a worse gift than one that does not.
Finally, the fair case against everything above. If you know the exact bottle she is running low on, buy that. A person who loves fragrance and is nearly out of the one thing she wears every day would rather have it replaced than be given a discovery, and knowing which bottle that is proves more attention than any amount of novelty. The same applies if she has been talking about a particular house or a particular note for months — follow the specific information you have, and use this page only where you do not have it.
The fragrance edit, in buying order — and the gaps
The order I would buy in for a sister who wears and thinks about fragrance, followed by the things SOSA does not have. There is no room spray or home spray, no gift card, no verified gift wrap, gift note or personalisation, no gift hamper, and no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed diffuser. All four of those come up on this page more than on any other in the family, because a fragrance lover asks better questions.
| Buy | What it is | When it is the right answer | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Adaa 6ml ★ | Bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk — an oil, not a spray | First, for most fragrance-loving sisters. The daytime slot her collection cannot fill | ₹669 |
| 2. Mastani 6ml | Night-blooming jasmine, Damask rose, oudh — denser and slower | When her evenings matter more than her mornings. 12ml at ₹1,179 to make it substantial | ₹685 |
| 3. Any attar in 12ml | Adaa ₹1,149 · Ameeri ₹1,165 · Mastani ₹1,179 · Nawaab ₹1,199 | When one attar should carry the whole occasion. This is the size that reads as considered | ₹1,149–₹1,199 |
| 4. Solid body perfume 15g | Sway ₹459, Velour ₹479, Siren ₹489, Storm ₹529, Beast ₹549 among ten | Alongside an attar, for the bag. Reapplication without spraying in a shared room | ₹459–₹549 |
| 5. The trio | Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani together — ₹1,055 in 3ml, ₹1,859 in 6ml, ₹3,189 in 12ml | When you want her to choose, and — sibling privilege — you intend to ask which one won | ₹1,055–₹3,189 |
| If she means rooms: a reed diffuser | 50ml ₹749–₹849 (6–8 weeks) or 130ml ₹1,249–₹1,349 (14–18 weeks), six fibre reeds | When what she loves is how a house smells rather than how a wrist does — a different appetite entirely | ₹749–₹1,349 |
| No room spray, no gift card, no oud reed: the honest gaps | Every SOSA spray is a car perfume; there is no home or room spray. There is no gift card, verified gift wrap, gift note, personalisation or gift hamper. There is no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed diffuser | Said plainly, because a fragrance-literate sister will ask all three questions | — |
Versailles
Perfumers are the worst people to buy perfume for and I say that as one. It is not snobbery — it is that we have already smelled most of what exists, so novelty is not on offer, and what remains is either a material we love or a format we do not own. Your sister, if she genuinely loves fragrance, is in a milder version of the same position. You cannot surprise her with a smell. You can surprise her with a way of wearing one.
That is the whole argument for the attars. An oil does something an alcohol spray physically cannot: it holds the composition against skin instead of throwing it into the air, so the opening is quieter, the middle lasts longer, and the fragrance becomes something she wears rather than something the room wears. Most people with full shelves have never owned one, and the first week of wearing an attar is genuinely a new experience rather than another variation.
And if you are stuck between two of them, use the privilege of being her sibling. Send the small sizes, ask her in a month which one has gone down fastest, and buy the twelve-millilitre of that one next time. Nobody else on your list can do that without it being strange. It is not indecision; it is the only reliable method anyone has ever found for buying fragrance for another person. Everything is composed in Pune, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
