As a perfumer this is my favourite version of the question, because 'projection' is a perfume word and it tells me exactly what you are missing. No reed has perfume-like projection, because projection is created by active diffusion — the same way a high-projection perfume relies on warmth and movement, not on sitting still in a bottle.
