“Attars last longer” is one of those claims you hear everywhere, and it is mostly true - but only when you understand why. It comes down to two things: oil concentration and your skin chemistry. Neither is magic.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, and I would rather explain the mechanism than sell you a myth. Here is what actually makes an attar cling and last, and where the “longer-lasting” claim has limits.
Why do attars last longer? Two reasons: high oil concentration and no alcohol. Alcohol flashes off and carries scent away; oil stays on the skin and lets the notes unfold gradually through the day.
Does skin type affect how long attar lasts? Yes. Oily and well-moisturised skin holds scent longer; dry skin can let it fade faster. This is normal and individual - moisturising before applying often helps any fragrance last.
Usually yes, on the skin. An attar is a concentrated perfume oil with no alcohol, so there is nothing to flash off - the oil clings to the skin and releases its notes slowly through the day. An alcohol perfume projects hard at first, but once the alcohol evaporates, much of the scent goes with it, and that happens faster in heat. So a single roll of Nawaab can outlast a few sprays of an EDP on the skin. The honest caveat: how long it lasts depends on your skin chemistry, and an attar lasts close to the skin rather than projecting across a room. Why concentrated oil lasts
The mechanism is simple once you see it. An alcohol perfume is mostly alcohol, which evaporates within minutes of spraying. That evaporation is what throws the scent into the air - the dramatic opening - but it also carries away a lot of the lighter notes. What is left behind is the small fraction of perfume oil in the formula.
An attar skips the alcohol entirely. It is concentrated oil, so when you roll it on, all of it stays on your skin. There is no evaporation rushing the scent away - the oil sits, warms with your body heat, and releases notes gradually. That is why a little Ameeri in the morning can still be present at night.

There is one honest limit. Because the oil stays on the skin, an attar lasts on you - it does not fill a room the way a fresh spray does. So “longer-lasting” is true for wear time close to the skin; it is not a claim about projection. If you measure scent by how far it travels, that is a different question.

This is the part most longevity claims skip. The same attar can last differently on two people, because skin chemistry matters. Oily and well-moisturised skin holds fragrance oils for longer; dry skin can let them fade faster, as there is less for the oil to bind to.
