Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles10 min readUpdated September 2026
Something genuinely does change when you move into a car whose cabin you sit in more attentively: you start auditing the place. You notice the seat, the trim, the faint smell of a car that is still new, and the fragrance you put in it. That is a real observation and it deserves a real answer - but the answer is not the one the category usually gives, which is to go stronger or to buy something built for the new car. SOSA publishes nothing at all about how a cabin sounds, and this page is not going to invent a relationship between that and how a perfume behaves. What has moved is where your attention is pointed. The bottle is doing exactly what it did before, and the two controls SOSA does publish - the number of times you press it, and the stopper on the hanging - are the same two controls you already had.
The honest position on a cabin you have started noticing: SOSA publishes nothing linking how a car sounds to how a perfume behaves, so nothing here argues for stronger. What is published is the count and the stopper. A 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and holds 100 sprays - three months and above at one a day. The 12ml hanging is the same price, runs 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler.
Quick answers — read this first
Does a quieter cabin make a car fragrance behave differently? No, and nobody should tell you otherwise. SOSA publishes no claim connecting cabin sound to fragrance, so there is no published figure to reason from. What has changed is that you are paying closer attention to the space. That is worth acting on, but by adjusting how often you press a 10ml spray - it is published at 100 sprays - rather than by buying something stronger.
If I notice the cabin more, should I use more fragrance? Usually the opposite. Attention and intensity are not the same lever, and the one thing you can measure is the count: a 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 is 100 sprays, published as 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. If noticing more turns one press into two, your bottle tells you so long before your nose does.
What can I actually adjust? Two published things and no others. The press count on the spray, which is entirely yours to set, and the stopper on the 12ml hanging, which loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler and runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass. Everything else you might read about intensity in a cabin is somebody's invention, including mine if I wrote it.
The short answer
Short answer: Noticing your cabin more is a change in your attention, not a change in the fragrance. SOSA publishes nothing linking how a cabin sounds to how a perfume behaves, so there is no honest reason to go stronger. The two published controls are the press count on the spray and the stopper on the hanging. A SOSA 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays, which is 3 months and above at one a day.
The pick: A 10ml SOSA car perfume spray, ₹449 to ₹549 - 100 sprays, kept at the same rate you were already using, so the new attention has something steady to observe.
Why: Attention is the variable that moved, and the only controls SOSA publishes are the number of presses and the stopper, so changing the product answers a question nobody asked.
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
My electric hatchback is quieter than my previous car and I notice the cabin environment more during drives - can fragrance become part of that sensory experience without needing to be stronger?
Yes, and it should not be stronger. Hold the rate and let the attention do the work. Start with the part that has to be said plainly: SOSA publishes no claim of any kind connecting how a cabin sounds to how a fragrance performs in it, and there is no figure anywhere in the range that speaks to it. So if a page tells you a hushed cabin calls for a heavier scent or a lighter one, that page is guessing. What has genuinely changed is you. A cabin you sit in attentively is a cabin you inventory, and fragrance is simply one more thing on the list that you had not been looking at before. That is an argument for holding your rate steady, not raising it - because you now have a better instrument pointed at the same signal, and the honest first month is spent observing rather than correcting. The practical version: a SOSA 10ml spray is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze and ₹549 for Mysore Orange Blossom, and every one of them is published at 100 sprays, which the pages set out as 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. One press as you get in, held for a month, gives you a stable thing to notice. Two presses because you are noticing more halves the bottle and gives you something louder to notice rather than something better. If you would rather not press anything at all, the 12ml hanging is the same price for the same scent, runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in refillable glass, and its stopper is the published strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. Two limits. The car being electric has nothing to do with this: SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no powertrain claim at all, and a perfume sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it regardless of what turns the wheels. And fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise or mask an odour, so anything you have started noticing that is not the perfume is a question about the car. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Your attention moved, not the product. Hold the rate for a month before you change anything.
The short version: nothing about the product changed when the car did. Your attention did. Hold one press as you get in, watch the count - a 10ml at ₹449 to ₹549 is 100 sprays, three months and above at one a day - and decide in week five rather than week one.
Three things worth separating before you decide the fragrance needs changing
The reason this question is worth answering carefully is that it arrives already half-answered in the wrong direction. A new car invites you to buy new things for it, and a heightened sense of the cabin feels like evidence that something needs adjusting. Three things are worth pulling apart, and only one of them is anything you can actually set.
01
The instrument, not the signal
You changed what you are measuring with, not what you are measuring
A cabin you attend to closely is a cabin in which everything registers more sharply - the trim, the seat, the state of the mats, the scent. None of that is a property of the fragrance. It is a property of where you are looking, and it is the single most common reason somebody decides four weeks into a new car that a perfume they were happy with has become wrong. It has not become anything. If you change the product now, you will have changed two things at once and will never know which one moved, which is the exact mistake this bank keeps asking readers not to make. Hold everything steady for a month and let the new attention settle into a baseline. Then you will have something worth acting on.
Tip: A new observer is not new evidence. Give the observer a month before you trust it.
02
What is published, and what is not
There is no cabin-sound figure anywhere in the range, and there will not be one here
It is worth stating what SOSA actually publishes about intensity, because the list is short and it does not contain this. A 10ml spray holds 100 sprays, set out as 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two a day; the 50ml holds 500 sprays and is published at about a year and more at ₹1,499; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler; the spray is a fine-mist atomizer and one spray covers the cabin. That is the whole disclosure. No scent-throw distance, no projection figure, no relationship between the character of a cabin and the behaviour of a perfume in it. So when somebody asks whether a hushed interior needs a different approach, the honest answer is that nothing published supports a yes, and that the two levers above are the only ones anybody can hand you.
03
The lever you already own
Noticing more is an argument for pressing less, and the count keeps score
If your attention has genuinely sharpened, the useful consequence is that you need less to register something, not more. And there is a measurable version of this, which is why the spray is such a good format for somebody in your position. The bottle counts. One press as you get in, five days a week, is roughly twenty a month and a bottle that runs most of half a year. Two presses because the cabin invites a second one is forty a month, and the published 50 days at two a day arrives far sooner than you expected. Nothing has gone wrong in that case - the count simply kept an honest record of a habit you did not notice forming. Watch the bottle for a month and you will learn more about your own rate than any amount of introspection about how the car smells.
Tip: The bottle going down faster than you expected is the most honest feedback in the car.
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
What to do in the first month of a cabin you are noticing
Keep the rate you already had. One press as you get in, nothing else changed.
Write down the date you opened the bottle. The count is your only instrument.
Ask a passenger what they notice. They have no month of habit to argue with.
Decide in week five, with a month of evidence rather than a week of novelty.
The SOSA principle
When a new car makes you notice its cabin, what has changed is your attention. The perfume is doing what it did last month, and the two things you can set - the press count and the stopper - have not moved either.
Which is why the first month in a new car is for observing, and the second one is for deciding.
The two controls SOSA actually publishes, and what each one does
Because the spray and the hanging cost the same for the same scent, nothing here is a budget decision, and a heightened sense of the cabin is a good reason to choose carefully rather than loudly. Jasmine at ₹449 and Lavender at ₹479 sit at the softer end, Lavender published as the softest of the nine. Lemon at ₹499, Icy Mint at ₹489 and Sea Breeze at ₹509 are the bright ones. Sandalwood at ₹479, Vetiver at ₹509 and Oud at ₹509 are the deep end, with Oud published as the deepest. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only, with no hanging version and no refill, which matters if you turn out to want the set-and-forget format later.
The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to answer a cabin you have started paying attention to
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
Hold your rate with a 10ml spray, ₹449 to ₹549
The recommendation. 100 sprays, one press as you get in, unchanged for a month, so the new attention has a steady thing to observe. It fails if you wanted the car to be different today rather than better understood in four weeks.
A 12ml hanging with the stopper tightened
Same price as the spray, 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass, and tightening the stopper is the one published way to ask for subtler. It fails if you want the cabin to be neutral on some journeys, because it cannot be switched off for one drive.
A 12ml hanging with the stopper loosened
The honest option if, after a month, you genuinely want more presence rather than more control. It fails as a first move, because loosening it now means you never find out what the quieter setting was doing.
Change the scent entirely
Sometimes the right call - a scent that suited the old car may not be what you want in this one. It fails when you do it in week one, because you will have changed the car, the attention and the perfume together and learned nothing from any of them.
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
Two practical notes. 15ml refills exist for the hanging at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents, in a refillable glass bottle, and there is no spray refill at all, so a spray is replaced rather than topped up and Orange Blossom has no refill in either format. The whole range is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity - which is a statement about the product surviving an Indian car park, and not a claim that any scent behaves differently in one season or another. SOSA publishes no such claim and this page will not manufacture one. On presentation, if a bottle is going to somebody else, custom label or logo on product is the only branding option - no custom box, no printed sleeve.
₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 sprays. Fragrance you decide to have, journey by journey - which is the format that suits a car occupied an hour or two a day.
The same price as the spray, published at 4 to 6 weeks in a refillable glass bottle. The stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler - which is the only strength control SOSA publishes.
Three sprays from ₹699, or all nine at ₹2,999. Nine published combinations and those nine are the whole range - you pick from them, you do not assemble one.
from ₹699
The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.
A new car does not change what a perfume does. It changes how closely you are looking at it, and those are very different problems with very different answers.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA
The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin
The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler
₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out
₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs
₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you
₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder
from ₹3,999
The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The honest spec sheet
What the SOSA car pages publish, and what they do not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The published quantities - a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, stated as 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two a day. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more, at ₹1,499. A spray combo is 200 sprays, stated as 100 days at two a day rotating. These are the only usage figures SOSA gives.
The hanging - 4 to 6 weeks (28 to 42 days) of continuous diffusion per 12ml bottle, in refillable glass, and the stopper adjusts the strength: loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler.
Combos and the Discovery Set - four published pairs at ₹899 and ₹949, as a spray combo (2 x 10ml) or a hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. The Discovery Set is ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays and ₹2,999 for all nine. Those nine combinations are the entire set range and none is composed to order.
Refills - 15ml hanging refills at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill.
The formulation - alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India.
Not published, and therefore never stated here: any difference between a petrol, diesel or electric car; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours; any seasonal performance claim; any shelf life or concentration; any health effect in either direction; any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Those go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
Not sure whether you want a spray or a hanging? Tell SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 four things: how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it. You will get one straight answer rather than a catalogue - including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you do not want to think about it at all. What is not on this page, because SOSA does not publish it: any difference between petrol, diesel and electric cars; any cabin-volume, coverage or scent-throw figure; any evaporation rate; any claim about how a scent is perceived over time; any seasonal performance claim; any shelf life or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity or lead time. What is: 100 sprays in a 10ml and 500 in a 50ml, 4 to 6 weeks for a 12ml hanging, a stopper that adjusts it, alcohol-free and phthalate-free formulations formulated for 45 degrees C and 85 per cent humidity, and 15ml hanging refills from ₹399 with no spray refill at all. A note from Sonal
We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.
What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.
So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.
And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.
Frequently asked questions
Does a quieter cabin need a stronger or lighter car perfume?
No. SOSA publishes nothing connecting the character of a cabin to how a fragrance behaves in it, so there is no figure to reason from and no product recommendation that follows. The two controls that are published are the press count on the 10ml spray, which holds 100 sprays, and the stopper on the 12ml hanging, which loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler.
Does an electric hatchback need a different car perfume from a petrol one?
No. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and makes no powertrain claim anywhere. A perfume sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it, and that is the same situation in either car. What genuinely differs between two owners is parking, occupied hours, ventilation and who else drives the vehicle.
I notice my car perfume less than I did in week one. What does that mean?
Most likely it means you have stopped auditing the cabin, which is what everyone does once a car stops being new. The useful test is not introspection: ask a passenger what they walk into, and watch how fast the bottle is going down. A 10ml is 100 sprays, so if it is emptying in a month you are pressing three or four times a day, and that is worth knowing.
How do I make the fragrance subtler without changing scent?
On the hanging, tighten the stopper - that is the published adjustment and the only one. On the spray, press once rather than twice, or press before you leave the car rather than as you get in, so the cabin is settled by the time you are next in it. Both cost nothing and both are reversible.
Is the 50ml the sensible size for daily use?
The 50ml is Rs 1,499 and holds 500 sprays, published as about a year and more. It is the right size once you know your own rate, and the point of this page is that a month into a new car you do not yet. Since there is no spray refill, a 50ml is a long commitment to a routine you are still forming.
Take the next step
Hold the rate, then decide with a month of evidence
The 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 is 100 sprays and gives you a count to watch, which is the only honest feedback in a car. The 12ml hanging at the same price runs 4 to 6 weeks with the stopper as its published control, for somebody who would rather set it once. The 50ml at ₹1,499 is 500 sprays and about a year and more, sensible after your rate is settled rather than while a new car is still rearranging it. Tell SOSA what you used before and what changed, on WhatsApp.
Not sure which one suits the person you are buying for? Send SOSA their age, whether they drive, whether they like their home scented and your budget on WhatsApp, and you will get an honest answer - including when the cheaper product is the better gift.

What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.
