Almost always the honest answer is not a fault — it's physics. An ultrasonic mist has limited throw; the Sukoon is a per-room device, strongest within a few feet and fading toward the far corners of a big room. If it reaches one end but not the other, the room is simply larger or more open than a water diffuser is built to fill.
Quick answers — read this first
Is my diffuser broken? Usually not. If it mists and smells fine near the machine, it's working — the mist just doesn't travel far. The
Sukoon (₹1,799) is sized for a room up to ~200–250 sq ft, not an open hall.
What's the quickest fix? Raise it and move it to the centre of the room in the natural airflow, off the floor and away from a wall. That alone spreads the mist noticeably wider before you touch the dose.
And if that isn't enough? For a genuinely large or open space, add a
second diffuser (₹799) at the far end, or step up to the waterless
Vaayu (₹11,999), built to fill up to 1000m³.
The short answer
Short answer: Because ultrasonic mist has limited throw — the
Sukoon is a per-room device, so a big or open room outruns it; raise and centre it in the airflow first, then add a second unit or upgrade to the waterless
Vaayu for a large volume.
The pick: the
SOSA Sukoon (₹1,799) ultrasonic diffuser plus a
Hotel Collection scent (from ₹299) is the hotel-at-home starter; a
Boond (₹799) suits a small room or desk, and for a large, open-plan or high-humidity space the waterless
Vaayu (₹11,999) adds no moisture.

Straight answer
Why can't I smell my ultrasonic diffuser across the entire room?
1. It's throw, not a defect. Ultrasonic mist is heavy and falls quickly; it's strong near the machine and thins out within a few feet. If it works up close, it works.
2. Check the room against the range. A Sukoon comfortably fills an enclosed room up to roughly 200–250 sq ft. Bigger, open-plan or high-ceilinged, and it can't reach every corner.
3. Raise and centre it. Off the floor, near the middle of the room, in the natural air current — this spreads the mist far more than pouring in more oil ever will.
4. Add drops sparingly. A drop or two more can help a little, but over-dosing just makes it strong near the machine and still weak far away.
5. Size up honestly. For a large or open volume, a second diffuser or the waterless
Vaayu (₹11,999) is the real fix — the Sukoon is right for a room, the Vaayu for a big open space.
Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Even coverage across a big room isn't a Sukoon job — raise & centre it first, then add a
Boond (₹799) or step up to
Vaayu (₹11,999).
Why ultrasonic mist doesn't reach every corner
1
LIMITED THROW
Mist is heavy and falls fast
Sukoon · the diffuser₹1,799 An ultrasonic plate turns water and fragrance into a cool,
visible micro-mist — and that visibility is the clue. Heavier than a warm scent plume, the mist drifts up a little and settles quickly, so most of the fragrance stays within a few feet of the machine. That's why it's wonderful right beside you and faint across a large hall. It isn't weakness; it's how cool-mist physics works, and it's exactly why the Sukoon is designed as a per-room device rather than a whole-floor one.
Tip: If it smells good within arm's reach, the unit is fine — the room is the variable.
2
ROOM VS RANGE
The space may be past the Sukoon's size
Hotel Collection scentsFrom ₹299 The Sukoon fills an
enclosed room up to roughly 200–250 sq ft at a normal ceiling. A 350 sq ft living-dining, an open-plan span, or a double-height room is simply a larger volume than a 500ml water diffuser can scent evenly. You'll get a lovely core near the unit and thin corners — not because it's underperforming, but because you're asking a room-sized tool to do a hall-sized job.
Tip: Measure the room; if it's over ~300 sq ft or open-plan, it's a Vaayu question.

THE HONEST FIX
Right tool for the volume
Vaayu · large room₹11,999 Placement and a drop or two get you a surprising amount — try those first. But for a genuinely big or open space the honest answer is a second unit or a step up. A
Boond at the far end covers a second zone; the waterless
Vaayu fills up to 1000m³ and adds no humidity. The Sukoon isn't the wrong buy — it's the right buy for a room, working alongside a bigger machine for the open areas.
Tip: Two zones, two units — one machine can't be in two places.

The SOSA principle
A diffuser that's strong up close and quiet far away isn't failing — it's telling you the truth about the size of the room.
Listen to it: raise, centre, and if the space is genuinely big, size up honestly.

Sizes & how to use: every scent comes as 15ml (₹299, to try), 100ml (₹999, the value bottle) or 300ml (₹1,799, best per-ml); the 15ml
Pack of 7 (₹1,799) is the whole wardrobe. Add just 3-6 drops to the Sukoon's water tank and adjust to taste - a little goes a long way - and rinse the tank when you switch scents so each stays true. These are water-based, ultrasonic-safe fragrances made for SOSA diffusers; do not substitute raw essential or carrier oils, which can clog the misting plate. The scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by (not affiliated with) the named hotels. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
When the room is big or open-plan SOSA Vaayu · Waterless Cold-Air ₹11,999 The Sukoon is perfect for a bedroom or a normal living room; for a large, open-plan or high-ceilinged space - or if you want zero added humidity in already-humid coastal air - step up to the waterless Vaayu (up to 1000m³, app + timers). For a whole home, the ducted Aangan (₹25,999) carries one signature through every room. Compare Sukoon vs Vaayu →

Frequently asked questions
Is my diffuser faulty if it only scents part of the room?
Almost never. If it mists and smells clearly near the machine, it's working correctly — ultrasonic mist simply has limited throw. Even coverage across a large or open room is beyond what any 500ml water diffuser like the
Sukoon is built to do; that's a job for a second unit or the
Vaayu.
Will adding more fragrance make it reach further?
Only marginally. A drop or two more can lift the intensity, but it won't push the mist further — you'll get stronger-near-machine and still-weak-far-away. Placement changes reach; dose changes intensity. Past a point, more oil just wastes fragrance.
Where exactly should I put it for the widest coverage?
Off the floor on a table or console, near the centre of the room rather than against a wall, and in the natural air current but out of a direct AC or fan blast. Central and raised beats tucked in a corner every time.
At what room size should I stop trying and upgrade?
Roughly 250–300 sq ft is the honest ceiling for one Sukoon in an enclosed room. Above that, open-plan, or high-ceilinged, add a second diffuser for a separate zone or step up to the waterless
Vaayu (₹11,999), rated to 1000m³.
Could it just be my nose getting used to it?
Very possibly. Nose habituation means a scent you smelt clearly at first fades to you within twenty minutes even though the room is still fragranced. Ask someone who just walked in — if they smell it, the coverage is fine and you don't need to add anything.
Coverage, honestly
Scent the whole room, not just the corner near the machine
Raise and centre the Sukoon first; for a genuinely large or open space, a second Boond or the waterless Vaayu is the real fix. Right tool, right volume.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the technique applies to any brand's ultrasonic system.
Facts verified August 2026: An ultrasonic diffuser disperses a water-based fragrance as a cool micro-mist, scenting a room without heat or flame and adding a little humidity. Great hotels use commercial HVAC scenting to create a signature smell; at home the same effect comes from a diffuser plus a hotel-inspired blend. SOSA Sukoon is a 500ml ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser with a 7-colour mood light (₹1,799); Boond is a 300ml mini ultrasonic diffuser (₹799); both run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. The Hotel Collection comes in seven scents (Ritz-Carlton, Westin, 1 Hotels, St. Regis, Shangri-La, Four Seasons and W Hotels styles) in 15ml (₹299), 100ml (₹999) and 300ml (₹1,799), plus 15ml Pack of 7 (₹1,799); dose 3-6 drops per tank, use SOSA diffuser fragrance only (not raw essential/carrier oils), and rinse between scents. For large, open-plan or high-humidity spaces the waterless SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³) adds no humidity; the Aangan (₹25,999) is a whole-home HVAC system. The scents are SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
