Founder Diaries · Date Night at Home

The Hotel Collection has seven inspired styles, but only three of them really belong in a bedroom on date night — and they're all in the warm half. For a romantic evening the warm styles win, because a date night wants a scent that feels close and enveloping, not one that fills the room and announces itself.
Quick answer
Best all-round: Ritz-Carlton-inspired — plush floral-woody, the most romantic of the seven. ₹299.
For anniversaries: St. Regis-inspired — classic elegant, refined and grown-up.
For a tender, gentle night: Shangri-La-inspired — soft oriental, the lightest and closest.
The short version
Short answer: Ritz-Carlton-inspired for most date nights; St. Regis-inspired for anniversaries; Shangri-La-inspired for a soft, tender evening.
People ask me to just name one, and I understand the impulse — but date night isn't a single mood. A quiet Tuesday-night reconnection and a dressed-up tenth anniversary want slightly different scents, even though both are romantic. The good news is that all three of my date-night picks come from the warm side of the collection, they're all ₹299, and one Sukoon runs any of them. So you can start with the all-rounder and add the others as your nights ask for them. Here's how they differ.

The all-rounder
Ritz-Carlton-inspired — plush and romantic
Hotel Collection₹299
If you buy one date-night scent, make it the Ritz-Carlton-inspired plush floral-woody. It's the most enveloping of the seven — soft, warm, faintly powdery, with enough body to feel like an occasion but never sharp or loud. It's the style I'd hand someone who says "I just want the room to feel romantic" with no further detail. Run it in a Sukoon on low, its light on one warm amber glow, half an hour before the evening starts.
Tip: this is the safest first bottle. If you're unsure which warm style suits you, start here — it flatters almost every bedroom.
2
The anniversary style
St. Regis-inspired — refined and grown-up
Garden Bloom reed₹799
For an anniversary or any dressed-up evening, the St. Regis-inspired classic elegant is the more formal, refined choice — grown-up rather than soft, the scent of a well-run suite. It carries a sense of occasion the plush style doesn't quite reach. Pair it with a Garden Bloom rose-jasmine reed on the nightstand and the room gains a soft floral base that lasts long after the Sukoon switches off — elegant on top, romantic underneath.
Tip: the reed is alcohol-free and passive — no heat, no power, no mist — so it's the safest scent to leave running by the bed all night.
3
The tender choice
Shangri-La-inspired — soft and gentle
Sukoon₹1,799
For a quiet night in — or if one of you finds bigger scents too much — the Shangri-La-inspired soft oriental is the gentlest of the three. It's the lightest and most tender, staying close and personal rather than filling the room, which makes it the kindest choice for a sensitive nose. Run it in the Sukoon on low and it feels like a scent meant only for the two of you.
Tip: in a small bedroom the mini
Boond (₹799) runs the same fragrance beautifully — gentler output for a compact room.

Date night wants a scent that leans in, not one that fills the room.

A word on the styles I've left out. The fresh trio — Westin, 1 Hotels and Four Seasons-inspired — reads as clean and awake, which is lovely for daytime and hosting but not the intimate register a date night wants; keep them for a night too hot for warmth. And the bold W Hotels-inspired style is built for parties and statements, the opposite of a close, quiet evening. For date night, stay warm. As always, the fragrance only crowns a clean, aired room, and the Sukoon is ultrasonic, so run it in a session — in a humid Mumbai or Chennai flat keep it short so the bedroom stays soft, not damp, and let a passive reed carry the night. A portion of every SOSA order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked
Which SOSA Hotel Collection fragrance is best for date night?
The Ritz-Carlton-inspired plush floral-woody is the best all-round date-night style — warm, soft and enveloping, the most romantic of the seven. For a more refined, grown-up anniversary mood choose the St. Regis-inspired classic elegant, and for a tender, gentle evening choose the Shangri-La-inspired soft oriental. All three are ₹299 and run in a
Sukoon (₹1,799); keep the level low.
What is the difference between the warm date-night styles?
They share warmth but differ in weight. Ritz-Carlton-inspired is the plushest and most enveloping — a soft floral-woody with real body. St. Regis-inspired is more refined and formal, a classic-elegant scent that suits an anniversary or a dressed-up evening. Shangri-La-inspired is the lightest and most tender of the three — a soft oriental that stays close and gentle rather than filling the room.
Should I avoid the fresh and bold styles for date night?
Mostly, yes. The fresh styles (Westin, 1 Hotels, Four Seasons-inspired) read as clean and awake rather than intimate, so they suit daytime and hosting more than a romantic evening — though they are worth it on a night too hot for warmth. The bold W Hotels-inspired style is built for parties and statements, which is the opposite of the close, quiet mood a date night wants. Stay warm.
Do I need more than one Hotel Collection fragrance?
Two makes a lovely little date-night set. Because each style is ₹299 and one
Sukoon runs any of them, owning a plush Ritz-Carlton-inspired for most nights and a refined St. Regis-inspired for anniversaries gives you two distinct romantic moods from a single diffuser. Add a fresh style for hot evenings and you have covered every kind of night in.
How do I run the fragrance so it stays romantic?
Low, and in a session. Switch the Sukoon on about half an hour before, keep the level low, and set it a little off to one side rather than by the pillow. In a humid city keep it to a short session so the room stays soft rather than damp, and add a
Garden Bloom rose-jasmine reed on the nightstand to carry the scent through the night once the diffuser stops.

Three warm styles, one Sukoon, every kind of evening.
Start with the Ritz-Carlton-inspired all-rounder, add St. Regis-inspired for anniversaries and Shangri-La-inspired for tender nights. Each is ₹299 and runs in a single Sukoon — build the set as your evenings ask for it.
