Clean is the most scalable register there is, which is exactly what a year-round bottle needs: light enough for one dab in May, substantial enough that three dabs in January still reads as complete.
Quick answers — read this first
Why is clean scalable? Because it has no sugar, which is the thing that fails in heat and humidity, and a musk base that holds up when cold suppresses everything lighter.

How does the dose change? One dab March-June, one or two July-September, two or three October-February.

Which one? Adaa - and the 12ml is the sensible size if it becomes your daily.
The short answer
Clean is an effect, not a family. It comes from three things together: a bright citrus-green top, no sugar anywhere, and a clean white musk base that reads as skin.
The non-negotiable. No sugar. Sweetness is the single thing that stops a fragrance reading as clean, and it is in most "fresh" bottles. Every SOSA attar is alcohol-free and DPG-free.
SOSA in one line. Alcohol-free, DPG-free, IFRA-compliant attars on a jojoba and Mysore sandalwood base, 6-8 hours on skin, 3ml / 6ml / 12ml, ₹379-₹1,199, hand-blended in Pune.
Start here. For clean, Adaa 3ml at ₹379 - bergamot, green cardamom, neroli, jasmine sambac and white musk. It is the only genuinely clean composition I make.
What actually creates a "clean" impression (illustrative)Clean white musk base — the skin-like effect that lastsCitrus and green top — the fresh impression, first 40 minutesSugar or heavy florals — where "clean" stops reading as clean
Illustrative only. Clean is an effect rather than a fragrance family: a bright citrus-green opening gives the first impression, and a clean white musk base is what still reads as clean at hour four.

Straight answer
So which clean attar can you wear year-round in India?
Almost any well-built one - because clean is the most scalable register. India produces three conditions: dry heat that amplifies, humidity that holds, and dry cold that suppresses. Sugar fails the first two; thin compositions fail the third. A clean composition has no sugar and a musk base substantial enough to hold up at three dabs in January, which means it clears all three with only a dose change. Adaa is my version, worn at one dab in May and three in January.
Short version: one dab in May, three in January. Same bottle, three genuinely different wears.

The 4 things that make clean scalable

Clean is usually thought of as a summer register, which sells it short. It is the one register that genuinely covers an Indian year.

What "clean" actually means
Clean is not a fragrance family - it is an effect, produced by a specific combination: bright citrus and green materials on top, no sugar anywhere, and a clean white musk base that reads as skin rather than as perfume. Remove any one of those three and the effect collapses.
1
Criterion one
No sugar, so heat and humidity are fine
Sweetness is the property that swells in dry heat and hangs in humid air - two of India's three conditions. A clean composition has none, which is why it never fails in the months when most fragrances do.
2
Criterion two
A musk base, so cold is fine too
The part people miss. Cold suppresses light materials, so a thin fresh accord vanishes in January. A real clean musk base is one of the longest-lasting things in perfumery and holds up perfectly well at a bigger dose - which is what makes the register scalable rather than seasonal.

Year-round clean: Adaa, dosed by season.

3
Criterion three
The dosing calendar
March-June: one dab on dry skin. July-September: one or two, never where damp fabric sits. October-February: two or three, on moisturised skin, since cold dry skin holds an oil poorly. Adjust by your own city rather than by the calendar.
4
Criterion four
Clean should not mean short
A common and unnecessary trade. Because clean compositions are light, people assume they fade quickly - but the musk base is one of the longest-lasting things in perfumery. SOSA attars wear 6-8 hours on skin, and the clean effect holds right through because the base is what was creating it in the first place.
The buying checklist
The criteria - and how to check each one yourself
What to look for Why it matters for a clean scent How to check
Clean white musk base This is what still reads as clean at hour four What is the base note?
No sugar anywhere Sweetness is what breaks the clean effect Check for vanilla, tonka, amber
Bright citrus-green top Gives the first fresh impression Bergamot, neroli, cardamom?
A real anchor under the citrus Citrus alone is gone in 40 minutes What holds the brightness?
Close projection Clean is a close-range effect Does it sit near the skin?
Oil base, no alcohol No sting, no sharp evaporation Ask: alcohol-free? DPG-free?
Small dose Over-applying destroys the clean effect One dab, not two
Stated longevity Clean should not mean short Hours on skin, in writing
"Clean is treated as a summer register. It is the one that actually covers the year."

Where SOSA sits - and where another attar might suit you better

Adaa is the only bottle in my range I would call genuinely year-round, and the dose calendar is what makes it so. The other three are seasonal and I say so.

The honest position
Scalable, not seasonal.
Where I think we earn a place on your shortlist: no sugar for the hot months, a real musk base for the cold ones, and a 12ml for a bottle worn daily across a year. Where another house might suit you better: any clean attar built the same way scales identically - the register matters more than the label.
Three things "clean fragrance" advice gets wrong
✕
"Clean means weak." It does not. Clean is about the materials - no sugar, clean musk, bright top - not about strength. A clean fragrance can last eight hours and still read as skin.
✕
"All fresh fragrances smell the same." Most of the cheap ones do, because they lean on the same handful of inexpensive fresh materials. The difference is what sits underneath - real cardamom and neroli, or nothing.
✕
"Clean is boring." Only when it is thin. A clean composition with real material is quietly interesting all day - reviews here are illustrative, not a guarantee.

Test a 3ml through one hot month and one cold one before committing to the 12ml. Adaa is my year-round clean bottle.

The SOSA attar range

All four are alcohol-free and DPG-free in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. Adaa is the year-round one; the others are seasonal by design.

A note from Sonal

"I just want to smell clean" is the single most common thing anyone says to me, and it is a harder brief than it sounds - because clean is not a fragrance family. It is an effect, and it takes three things at once: a bright citrus-green opening, a clean white musk base that reads as skin rather than as perfume, and no sugar anywhere.

That third condition is why so many bottles sold as fresh do not stay clean. Sweetness is inexpensive and it tests well at a counter, so it finds its way into almost everything - and by hour three you are wearing something that announces itself as perfume rather than as a person who is well-groomed.

Adaa is the only genuinely clean thing I make, and I would rather say that plainly than stretch the word across my whole range. I do not make an aquatic and I do not make a standalone white musk. If those are what you want, buy them from someone who does - and if a clean citrus-green-musk is what you are after, mine is worth your ₹379.

Frequently asked questions

Does "clean" mean the fragrance is weak?
No. Clean is a property of the materials - no sugar, a clean musk base, a bright top - not of the strength. SOSA attars wear 6-8 hours on skin, and the clean effect lasts as long as the scent does because the musk base is what creates it.
Which SOSA attar smells cleanest?
Adaa - bergamot, green cardamom, neroli, jasmine sambac and white musk. It is the only genuinely clean composition in the range; Ameeri is warm, Mastani is rich and Nawaab is deep, and I would not sell any of them as fresh. From ₹379.
How long does a clean attar last on skin?
6-8 hours for the SOSA range, slightly longer on warm or oily skin. The citrus impression fades within the first hour; what remains, and what still reads as clean, is the musk base.
How much should I apply for a clean effect?
One dab at the base of the throat, on dry skin. Clean is a close-range impression by definition - anything that fills a room is reading as perfume rather than as grooming, and over-applying is the most common way people lose the effect.
Is a clean attar suitable for the office?
It is the best thing for an office. Adaa sits close to the skin rather than dispersing across a shared, air-conditioned room, and at one dab it reads as well-groomed rather than as perfumed. It was written for exactly those hours.
