This page is about our own machine, so it is the page where we have to be most careful. Here is what the Vaayu genuinely offers a home with animals, what it does not offer and will not be sold as offering, where it should never go, and the households where we would tell you not to buy one.
Quick answers — read this first
What should pet owners consider before using SOSA Vaayu? Five things. First, ask your vet, particularly if you live with a cat, a bird, a rabbit or another small mammal, since these are more sensitive than dogs and birds have highly sensitive respiratory systems. Second, decide the placement before you buy: wall mounted, high, on the main air path, out of reach, and never in the room the animal sleeps in or near beds, bowls, crates or litter trays. Third, confirm the animal can always walk to a room with no fragrance in it. Fourth, plan to run the lowest useful setting in short scheduled runs rather than continuously. Fifth, commit to stopping at the first sign of a reaction. SOSA makes no claim that the Vaayu is pet-safe, non-toxic or safe around animals.
What does the SOSA Vaayu specification actually offer a pet home? Three practical things. It is waterless, nebulising pure fragrance oil rather than misting water, so there is no standing water at nose height, no dampness added to a room and no residue landing on pet beds, rugs or floors. It is wall-mountable, so it can be kept physically above an animal's reach instead of standing on the floor where a tail can knock it over. And it has adjustable intensity, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, auto-stop and key-lock, so it can be run genuinely low, in short scheduled bursts, and stopped instantly from the app. It is rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, at ₹11,999 and under 38dB. None of that is a safety claim.
Is the SOSA Vaayu safe for pets? We do not claim that it is, and we would be careful of any fragrance brand that made that claim about any product. Animals have a far more sensitive sense of smell than people, cats, birds and small mammals are more sensitive than dogs, and birds in particular have highly sensitive respiratory systems. The right person to ask about your animal is your vet. If you do use it, keep it physically out of reach and out of the room the animal sleeps in, run it lightly, always leave an open route to an unscented room, never scent a space the animal cannot leave, and stop immediately if it sneezes, drools, hides, paws at its face or changes its behaviour.
The short answer
Short answer: settle five things first. Ask your vet, particularly with cats, birds and small mammals. Decide the placement before you buy: high, out of reach, on the air path, never in the sleeping room or near beds, bowls, crates or trays. Confirm the animal can always walk to an unscented room. Plan to run the lowest useful setting in short scheduled bursts. And commit to stopping at the first sign of a reaction. We make no claim that the Vaayu is pet-safe.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is waterless and wall-mountable with adjustable intensity, timers, auto-stop and key-lock, which makes it easier to keep out of an animal's way and to control precisely. That is a practical advantage, not a safety claim. It adds fragrance and does not remove pet odour, and for some households the honest answer is not to run it at all.
Next step: tell us which animals you live with and how your home is laid out, and we will tell you where it should go, or whether we would recommend it at all - ask us what fits your home.
The Vaayu is waterless and wall-mountable, which genuinely helps you keep it out of an animal's reach, and it has adjustable intensity, timers and an instant off switch, which is exactly the control a pet home needs. None of that makes it pet-safe, and we do not claim that it is. Settle all five points before it runs for the first time.
What do I need to think about before running a SOSA Vaayu in a house with animals?
Take the honest limitations first, because they shape everything else. And the line we will not soften: fragrance does not remove odour molecules, it adds fragrance molecules alongside them. Diffusing a scent does not break down, neutralise, capture or cancel anything a dog or a litter tray has put into a room. Run a machine over an unwashed dog bed and you get dog and fragrance at once, which is worse than either on its own, because the nose stops reading two smells and starts reading one confusing new one. Fragrance is the finish on a room that is already clean. It is never a substitute for the laundry, and any brand that suggests otherwise is overselling. One line worth being clear about: a fragrance machine is a fragrance machine. It is not an air purifier. It does not filter, disinfect, dehumidify or remove anything from the air, and it makes no health claim of any kind, for people or for animals. And Now the part that matters more than anything else on this page, and we would rather lose a sale than get it wrong. We do not claim that any SOSA product is pet-safe, non-toxic or safe around animals, and we would be careful of any fragrance brand that does. What we can give you is how to be careful. An animal's sense of smell is not a slightly better version of ours, it is on an entirely different scale, so a level of fragrance you would call subtle can be a great deal more than subtle to a dog lying at floor level all day. Cats, birds and small mammals are more sensitive again than dogs, and birds in particular have highly sensitive respiratory systems - a bird's respiratory system is unusually efficient at extracting whatever is in the air, and many experienced bird keepers avoid airborne fragrance in the house altogether. If you are unsure, and especially if you live with a cat, a bird, a rabbit or any small mammal, ask your vet before you scent a shared space. That is not a disclaimer. It is genuinely the right order of operations. So the first thing to settle is not a setting, it is a conversation with your vet. Now the things the specification genuinely does offer a pet home, which are real and worth stating plainly. There is one practical reason the format matters in a home with animals, and it is worth saying plainly because it is a real advantage rather than a marketing line. The Vaayu is waterless and it can be wall mounted, so it does not need to stand on the floor or on a low table where a dog's tail can send it over or a cat can get to the tank. Mounted on a wall, above reach, it stays where you put it. Being waterless also means there is no standing water in a tank at nose height and nothing damp landing on dog beds, rugs or a wooden floor. It has an auto-stop and a key-lock, which was designed for public spaces and turns out to be equally useful in a house where somebody could nudge the settings. None of that makes it safe around animals, and we are not saying it does. It makes it easier to keep out of their way, which is a different and more honest claim. Beyond that, it is rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, so one machine covers a whole floor rather than needing a device in every room, which means fewer fragrance sources in the house and more rooms you can leave completely unscented. It runs under 38dB, quieter than a fridge, which matters with animals that are sensitive to noise. It has adjustable intensity and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers controlled from a Bluetooth app or the onboard buttons, so you can run it genuinely low, in short scheduled bursts while the animals are outside or elsewhere, and stop it instantly from wherever you are standing. It uses 5W, and a 400ml tank lasts up to about 75 days depending on intensity and run hours, so running it low is also the cheapest way to run it. It is CE, RoHS and SGS certified and made in India. The practical rules, and they are not optional. Keep the machine physically out of the animal's reach, wall mounted or high on a shelf, never at floor level where a dog can knock it over or a cat can investigate the tank. Keep it out of the room the animal sleeps in. Scent lightly rather than heavily, at the lowest setting that does anything at all, and in short scheduled runs rather than continuously. Always leave the animal a route to an unscented room, and check the route is genuinely open rather than theoretically open. Never scent a space the animal cannot leave: not a crate, not a closed utility room, not a balcony it is shut out on, not a carrier, not a bathroom with the door shut. And watch the animal rather than the machine. If it sneezes, coughs, drools, hides, paws at its face, licks compulsively, or simply changes its behaviour in a way you cannot otherwise explain, stop immediately, switch the machine off and air the room out. Do not experiment further, and speak to your vet. And there are households where our answer is simply no. With a bird, we would not run airborne fragrance in the house at all. With a cat, a rabbit or another small mammal, ask your vet and be ready for a no. In a studio or a small flat where the animal has nowhere unscented to go, the answer is no. If the only possible placement is at floor level next to the dog bed, the answer is no. And if the smell you are trying to fix is an unwashed bed or an untreated accident, the answer is laundry rather than a machine. Ask us and we will tell you which of those you are.
Waterless, wall-mountable and precisely controllable, which genuinely helps you keep it out of an animal's way. Not pet-safe, not an air purifier, and it does not remove pet odour. Ask your vet, mount it high, run it low, leave rooms unscented, and stop at the first reaction.
What the SOSA Vaayu genuinely offers a pet home: it is waterless, so no standing water at nose height and nothing damp on beds or rugs; it is wall-mountable, so it can be kept above reach; and it has adjustable intensity, timers and an instant off switch. Rated to 1000m³, under 38dB, ₹11,999. None of that makes it pet-safe, and we do not claim it does.
Here is the machine described plainly, with the caveats attached rather than tucked away at the bottom. If any of the caveats rules it out for your household, that is exactly what they are there for.
Waterless cold-air nebuliser at ₹11,999, rated to 1000m³ - about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. 400ml tank up to about 75 days, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, auto-stop and key-lock, CE, RoHS and SGS certified. We make no claim that it is pet-safe.
Wall mount it high on the main air path. Never at floor level, never in the room the animals sleep in, never near beds, bowls, crates or litter trays, and never in a space an animal is shut into. If your home has no such position, that is a reason not to buy it.
Adjustable intensity and four timer options from the app or the onboard buttons. In a pet home, start at the lowest setting that does anything, run short scheduled bursts rather than continuously, and stop it entirely at the first sign of a reaction.
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank lasting up to about 75 days, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers with adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Waterless, so no dampness and no residue. Made in India. Not claimed to be pet-safe: keep it out of reach and out of the room your animal sleeps in.
The three things to settle before you switch it on
Three things to settle before it runs for the first time. The first is not ours to answer.

The vet conversation
Ask before you scent a shared space, and be ready for a no
We are a fragrance company. We know what our machine does and we know what fragrance does not do, and we do not know anything about your animal. Its species, age, breed, breathing, skin and history all matter, and the person qualified to weigh those is your vet. So ask, and ask before the machine runs rather than afterwards. It matters most for cats, birds and small mammals, which are more sensitive than dogs. Birds in particular have highly sensitive respiratory systems, unusually efficient at extracting whatever is in the air, and many experienced keepers avoid airborne fragrance in the house entirely; in a home with a bird our own default answer is not to run it at all. With a dog, ask if the dog is very young or very old, is a flat-faced breed, or has any respiratory, skin or allergic condition. Be prepared for the answer to be no, and treat that as useful information rather than an obstacle. A machine you do not buy because your vet advised against it is a good outcome, and we would far rather that than the alternative.
Tip: ask your vet before the first run, not after the first reaction.
We make no claim that the Vaayu is pet-safe, non-toxic or safe around animals, and we would be wary of any brand that did.
High, on the air path, and a long way from where they live
Work out the position before you spend anything, because if your home does not have one, that is a reason not to buy. It needs to be wall mounted or high on a shelf, physically out of reach of a dog's tail, a jumping cat or a curious nose, and on the main air path of the living space - a hallway, a landing, near a return-air grille - where air genuinely moves. It must not be in the room the animals sleep in. It must not be near beds, bowls, crates or litter trays, and it must not be in a utility room, a mud room, a balcony or anywhere an animal is ever shut in. And there has to be a room, ideally more than one, with no fragrance in it at all and the door genuinely open, so every animal in the house can walk away from the scent at any time. In a studio or a small flat where the fragrance reaches everywhere, that condition cannot be met and the honest answer is that this is not the machine for that home. Being waterless and wall-mountable makes the good placement easy to achieve, which is a genuine practical advantage and nothing more than that.
The Vaayu is 165 x 80.5 x 215mm and 0.9kg, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, with auto-stop and key-lock.
Lowest useful setting, short runs, and a decision made in advance
Decide the operating pattern now rather than improvising later. Start at the lowest intensity the machine offers, which in a home of 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft is usually more than enough, and run short scheduled bursts on the timer rather than continuously, ideally while the animals are outdoors or in an unscented part of the house. Judge the level by stepping outside for ten minutes and walking back in, because you cannot smell your own home and your nose will drift upwards over weeks. If you ever find yourself wanting to turn it up, switch it off instead and go and find the source, because that impulse is almost always a laundry problem in disguise. And settle the stopping rule in advance: sneezing, coughing, drooling, hiding, pawing at the face or nose, compulsive licking, watery eyes, changed breathing or any unexplained change in behaviour means you switch the machine off, open the space up and air it out properly, then speak to your vet and tell them what was being diffused, where the machine was and how long it ran. Do not step the setting down and observe. Do not assume the animal will get used to it. For birds especially, treat any respiratory sign as urgent.
Tip: if you ever want to turn it up, turn it off instead and go and find the source.
The Vaayu stops instantly from the app or the buttons, which is the feature that matters most on the day you need it.
Waterless and wall-mountable means it is easier to keep out of an animal's way. It does not mean it is safe around animals, and we will not let those two sentences blur into one.
The first is a specification. The second is a claim we are not making about any product we sell.
Waterless and wall-mountable: SOSA Vaayu nebulises pure fragrance oil with no water and no heat, and mounts on a wall above an animal's reach. A practical advantage, not a safety claim. ₹11,999.

Waterless - no water, no heat, no dampness, no residue
Genuinely useful: no standing water at nose height, nothing damp landing on beds or rugs, no film on floors. It is not a safety claim and it does not make the fragrance itself anything other than fragrance. View →
Wall-mountable, 0.9kg, with auto-stop and key-lock
Lets you keep it physically out of reach and out of the way, which is the single most practical thing about it in a pet home. Convenience, not safety. View →
Adjustable intensity, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, app control
Means you can run it genuinely low, in short bursts, and stop it instantly. In a home with animals that control matters more than any other feature. View →
1000m³ coverage, under 38dB, 5W, ₹11,999
One machine covers a floor, so there are fewer fragrance sources and more rooms you can leave unscented. It still adds fragrance rather than removing odour, and it is not an air purifier. View →
One machine for a whole floor: SOSA Vaayu is rated to 1000m³ - about 2,000-3,000 sq ft - on a 400ml tank lasting up to about 75 days, under 38dB and 5W. ₹11,999.
Waterless and wall-mounted makes it easy to keep out of your dog's way. That is a specification, not a promise, and I am not going to let it sound like one.

The rules, in full. We make no claim that the SOSA Vaayu or any SOSA product is pet-safe, non-toxic or safe around animals. Animals have a far more sensitive sense of smell than people; cats, birds and small mammals are more sensitive than dogs; birds in particular have highly sensitive respiratory systems. A note from Sonal
This is the page where I have to be most careful, because it is about my own machine. So let me separate two things that marketing usually blurs. The Vaayu is waterless and it mounts on a wall, which makes it genuinely easy to keep out of a dog's reach and means nothing damp is landing on beds and rugs. That is a specification and it is useful. It is not a claim that the machine is safe around animals, and I am not making that claim about this or any other product.
What I would want a pet owner to do before switching it on is unglamorous. Ask your vet, especially if there is a cat, a bird, a rabbit or a small mammal in the house. Decide the position before you buy, and if there is nowhere high, out of reach and away from where the animals sleep, then do not buy it. Confirm there is a room with nothing running in it that the animal can walk to whenever it likes. Start at the lowest setting. And decide, now, that you will stop at the first sneeze rather than adjusting the dial.
There are homes where I would tell you not to use it. A home with a bird. A studio where the animal has nowhere unscented to go. A house where the only possible spot is on the floor beside the dog bed. And any home where the real problem is an unwashed bed or an untreated accident, because And the line we will not soften: fragrance does not remove odour molecules, it adds fragrance molecules alongside them. Diffusing a scent does not break down, neutralise, capture or cancel anything a dog or a litter tray has put into a room. Frequently asked questions
What should pet owners consider before using SOSA Vaayu?
Five things. Ask your vet first, particularly if you live with a cat, a bird, a rabbit or another small mammal, because these are more sensitive than dogs and birds have highly sensitive respiratory systems. Decide the placement before you buy: wall mounted, high, on the main air path, out of reach, and never in the room the animal sleeps in or near beds, bowls, crates or trays. Confirm the animal can always walk to a room with no fragrance in it. Plan to run the lowest useful setting in short scheduled bursts rather than continuously. And commit in advance to stopping at the first sign of a reaction.
Is the SOSA Vaayu pet-safe?
We do not claim it is, and we would not trust a fragrance brand that made that claim about any product. Animals have a far more sensitive sense of smell than we do, and cats, birds and small mammals are more sensitive again than dogs, with birds in particular having highly sensitive respiratory systems. If you are unsure, ask your vet before you scent a space you share with an animal, and especially so for a bird, a cat, a rabbit or any small mammal. If you do scent a home with pets, keep the machine physically out of the animal's reach and out of the room it sleeps in, run it lightly rather than heavily, always leave the animal an open route to an unscented room, and never scent a space it cannot leave, such as a crate, a closed utility room or a balcony it is shut out on.
What does waterless and wall-mountable actually mean for a pet home?
Waterless means it nebulises pure fragrance oil rather than misting water, so there is no standing water in a tank at nose height, no dampness added to the room and no residue landing on pet beds, rugs or floors. Wall-mountable means it can be fixed above an animal's reach on the main air path instead of standing on the floor where a tail can knock it over or a cat can investigate it. Both are practical advantages that make it easier to keep the machine out of an animal's way. Neither is a safety claim, and we do not present them as one.
Where should I not put it?
Not at floor level, not in the room your animals sleep in, and not near beds, bowls, crates or litter trays. Anything scented near a litter tray is a particularly bad idea, because a cat that dislikes the smell of its tray area will simply choose somewhere else in your house. Do not put it in a utility room, mud room, garage, balcony or any space an animal is ever shut into, and never scent a crate or a carrier. If your home has no position that is high, out of reach and away from where the animals live and sleep, that is a good reason not to buy it.
What should I do if my pet reacts to it?
Stop immediately. Switch the machine off, open the space up and let it air out thoroughly. The signs to watch for are sneezing, coughing, drooling, hiding, pawing at the face or nose, compulsive licking, watery eyes, any change in breathing, and any change in normal behaviour you cannot otherwise explain. Do not try a lower setting to see whether it helps, and do not assume the animal will get used to it. Speak to your vet, and mention what was being diffused, where the machine was and how long it ran. For birds especially, treat any respiratory sign as urgent.
