Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 10 min read Updated September 2026
This one has an answer, and it is not a preference. A 10ml SOSA spray holds a hundred of them, and a spray used at eleven at night on a car you will not open until eight the next morning is one of the hundred spent on an empty cabin. That is the whole case. It is not that anything goes wrong overnight - the cabin is simply shut, dark and empty, and nobody is in it to receive what you have just put there. Spray when you get in. The interesting part is the second question hiding behind it, which is whether you wanted a spray at all.
SOSA car perfume, spray or hanging, from Rs 449
SOSA car perfume · spray or hanging, same price · nine scents from ₹449 →
The decision behind almost every version of this question, and it is not about the car: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays - three months and more at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, published at 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. Nothing here changes with the powertrain.
Quick answers — read this first
Should I spray car perfume before parking overnight or before driving? Before driving. A 10ml is 100 sprays, so one used the night before is one of a hundred spent on a cabin with nobody in it. Spraying as you get in puts the same spray where the person is. The 10ml is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 3 months and above at one a day.

Does charging the car overnight change when to fragrance it? No. Charging is not a fragrance variable and SOSA publishes nothing about it. What is relevant is simply that the cabin is shut for eight or ten hours, which would be equally true of any car parked in the same covered bay without a cable attached. Closure and parking are the variables; the plug is not one.

Is there a format that removes the timing question altogether? Yes - the 12ml hanging, at the same price as the spray for the same scent. It runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in refillable glass and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler, so there is no before or after to get right. It is the answer for anyone who would rather not be timing anything.
The short answer
Short answer: Spray when you get in, not when you park. A SOSA 10ml holds 100 sprays, so one used the night before is one spent on an empty cabin. It is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and published at 3 months and above at one a day. If you would rather not time anything, the 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously.
The pick: A 10ml SOSA car perfume spray, ₹449 to ₹549 - 100 sprays, used as you sit down in the morning rather than as you lock up at night.
Why: A hundred sprays is a fixed budget. One spent on a cabin nobody will open for nine hours is a spray that did its work with no one there.
What the car runs on is not the variable. How it is used is.On demand - 10ml spray ₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 spraysContinuous - 12ml hanging, same price, 4 to 6 weeksVentilate a hot or long-shut cabin before you judge itNever - fragrance instead of finding a smell's source
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
Straight answer
My electric hatchback charges overnight in covered apartment parking and is not driven until the next morning. Should I fragrance the car before I park it for the night, or wait until I am actually about to use it?
Wait. Spray as you get in, and the reason is arithmetic rather than opinion. A SOSA 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays - the pages give the working as 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day - and it is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon and ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. That hundred is a fixed budget. A spray used at night on a car you will not open until morning is one of the hundred spent in a cabin with nobody in it, and if you did it every night you would have spent the entire bottle that way inside a hundred days. The same spray, pressed as you sit down, is received by the person who paid for it. Nothing sinister happens in between - this is not a claim that the fragrance is harmed by sitting overnight, only that nobody is there to be in it. Three things this page will not pretend are factors. Charging is not a fragrance variable and SOSA publishes nothing about it; what matters is that the cabin is shut for eight or ten hours, which is equally true of a petrol car in the same bay with no cable. The powertrain is not a variable either - SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no claim that a fragrance behaves differently in any of them. And fragrance adds a scent; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, so spraying at night in the hope of finding a different car in the morning is asking the bottle to do something it does not do. If the timing question itself is what you would like to be rid of, the 12ml hanging costs the same as the spray for the same scent, runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass, and has a stopper you loosen for stronger or tighten for subtler - no before, no after, nothing to remember. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
A hundred sprays is a budget. Do not spend one of them on a locked, empty car at midnight.
The quick version: a 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 when you want to decide journey by journey - it holds 100 sprays, which is three months and above at one a day. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks on its own, with the stopper to adjust it. The 50ml at ₹1,499 is 500 sprays, once you know your rate.

The arithmetic of a spray spent the night before

The question looks like a matter of taste and turns out to be a matter of counting. Three things settle it, and two of them are the things this cluster exists to take off the table.

01
A hundred, and no more
The bottle is a fixed budget, so every spray has to land on somebody
This is the argument in full. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, and the pages state the working: 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A spray is not free and it is not infinite. Pressed at night, it goes into a cabin that stays locked for eight or ten hours with nobody in it; pressed in the morning, it goes into a cabin with a person in it. Same spray, same cost, one of them collected and one not. Do it nightly and the whole hundred goes that way. If you want both - a car that is pleasant to open and pleasant to drive - that is two sprays a day, which is the published 50 days, and it is a perfectly reasonable choice as long as you have chosen it rather than drifted into it.
Tip: Nothing is lost overnight except the spray you spent when nobody was there.
02
What the overnight shut actually is
Eight or ten hours of a closed cabin, and that is all
It is worth being precise about the only genuine variable here. An overnight park is a cabin that stays shut and unventilated for eight or ten hours, in a bay that is covered or is not. That is a real thing and it affects how the car feels when you open the door in the morning. It has nothing to do with the plug. Charging is not a fragrance variable, SOSA publishes nothing about it, and a car on a cable is shut in exactly the way a car without one is. Covered parking is worth noting for a different reason - it is the difference between opening a cool cabin and a hot one - but SOSA publishes no seasonal or temperature performance claim, and the 45 degrees C and 85 per cent humidity figure is a formulation statement about stability.
03
The format that ends the question
A hanging has no before and no after
If the real irritation is having to decide at all, there is a published way out and it costs the same. The 12ml hanging is the same price as the 10ml spray for the same scent and runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, with a stopper loosened for stronger and tightened for subtler. It is already working when you unlock the car and it carries on after you lock it, which makes the timing question meaningless rather than answered. The trade is the one this cluster keeps returning to - most of that output happens while the car is parked, and you cannot turn it down for one journey and up for the next. For an overnight-parked, once-a-day car, some owners consider that a fair price for never thinking about it again.
Tip: The spray asks you to decide. The hanging asks you nothing, and charges the same for the privilege.
SOSA Mysore Orange Blossom car perfume spray, 10ml and 50ml
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.

Work it out in this order
Four lines that settle the timing for good
  1. Spray when you get in, not when you lock up. The cabin overnight has nobody in it.
  2. Count it: 100 sprays a bottle. One a day is 3 months and above; two a day is 50 days.
  3. Ignore the cable. Closure and parking are the variables; charging is not one.
  4. If deciding each time annoys you, the hanging is the same price and asks nothing.
The SOSA principle
There are a hundred sprays in the bottle. Spend them on journeys with people in them, and the published three months and above looks after itself.
And if deciding each time is the part you dislike, the format that never asks costs exactly the same.

The two formats, and which one makes the timing question disappear

Since the spray and the hanging are priced identically per scent, the timing decision above does not cost you any scent options. Sea Breeze at ₹509, Icy Mint at ₹489 and Lemon at ₹499 are the bright morning-facing end, which is where a lot of once-a-day commuters settle. Jasmine at ₹449 and Lavender at ₹479 are the soft florals, with Lavender the softest in the range. Sandalwood at ₹479, Vetiver at ₹509 and Oud at ₹509 are the deep end, Oud deepest of all. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only, so it cannot be the answer if you decide the hanging is.

The SOSA gift edit
Four timings, and what each one actually costs you
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
One spray as you get in, in the morning The straightforward answer - 100 sprays, and the published 3 months and above at one a day. It costs you a small habit, and it does nothing about how the car feels in the first two seconds after you open the door.
One spray the night before, as you lock up Puts the fragrance into a cabin that is shut and empty for eight or ten hours. It costs you one of the hundred with nobody there to receive it, and repeated nightly it costs you the whole bottle that way.
Both - one at night and one in the morning The published 50 days at two a day. Honest, if that is genuinely what you want: a car that is pleasant to open and pleasant to drive. It costs you a bottle roughly every seven weeks instead of every three months.
A 12ml hanging and no timing at all Same price as the spray, 4 to 6 weeks continuous, stopper as the strength control. It costs you the ability to vary it journey by journey, and most of what it produces happens while the car is parked.
SOSA Lavender car perfume, spray and hanging formats
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
See SOSA car perfumes from ₹449 →

Two published details that matter more than usual for a car parked overnight in covered apartment parking. The hanging is refillable - 15ml refills at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents in a refillable glass bottle - and there is no spray refill at all, with Orange Blossom having no refill in either form. The 50ml spray is ₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more, which is the size to buy after you have settled the timing question rather than before it. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity - a stability statement rather than a seasonal claim. And if it is a gift, custom label or logo on product is the one branding option, with no custom box, printed sleeve or insert card.

The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.

One message, one honest recommendation
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.

The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
Product What it is What it is for Price
SOSA car perfume spray - 10ml Fragrance you switch on ₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin from ₹449
SOSA car hanging - 12ml Fragrance that simply runs The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler from ₹449
SOSA car perfume spray - 50ml The long-run size ₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out ₹1,499
Car perfume combos Two scents, one purchase ₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs from ₹899
Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set Three to try ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays, or ₹2,999 for all nine. Nine published combinations, and those nine are the whole range - none is composed to order from ₹699
Hanging refills - 15ml Only the hanging refills ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you from ₹399
SOSA Safar The powered option ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder from ₹3,999

The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.

What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.

So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.

And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.

Frequently asked questions

Should I spray the car before parking it overnight?
No, spray it when you get in. A 10ml holds 100 sprays, so one used the night before is one of a fixed hundred spent on a cabin nobody will open for eight or ten hours. Used in the morning, the same spray goes into a cabin with a person in it. Nothing is harmed by spraying at night; it is simply spent where no one is.
Does overnight charging affect car fragrance?
Charging is not a fragrance variable and SOSA publishes nothing about it. What is relevant is that the cabin stays shut and unventilated for eight or ten hours, and that would be equally true of any car parked in the same covered bay with no cable attached. Closure and parking are the variables.
Is it worth spraying twice, once at night and once in the morning?
It is a published rate rather than a mistake. Two sprays a day from a 100-spray bottle is 50 days, against 3 months and above at one a day. If you genuinely want the car pleasant to open as well as pleasant to drive, that is what it costs. The point is to choose it rather than drift into it.
Will spraying at night make the car smell better in the morning?
Fragrance adds a scent; it does not remove one. If the car smells of something you would rather it did not, that is a question about the car itself - the mats, the air-conditioning, water after rain, something left inside - and a spray at bedtime is not the tool for it. Find the source first.
Is there a way to avoid the timing question completely?
The 12ml hanging. It costs the same as the spray for the same scent, runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in refillable glass, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. There is no before or after to get right. The trade is that most of its output happens while the car is parked.

What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
