Let me settle your worry straight away: for a great many perfumes, two to three hours of clearly noticeable wear is completely normal. It is not a sign of a fake, a bad batch or a mistake on your part. Whether it is normal for your bottle depends on what kind of perfume it is — so let me help you calibrate your expectations honestly.
Quick answers — read this first
Is 2–3 hours normal? For light, fresh, citrus or many alcohol-based EDTs, yes — entirely normal. Their volatile notes are meant to shine and then soften. For a dense EDP, extrait or oil, you should reasonably expect more.
So my perfume isn't faulty? Almost certainly not. Longevity is set by concentration, note weight, your skin and the weather — a short-lived light scent is behaving as designed, not failing.
What if I want more than 2–3 hours? Move up in concentration or format: an EDP, an extrait, or a perfume oil. Oils in particular release slowly and hold far longer, close to the skin.
The short answer
Short answer: Yes — two to three hours is normal and expected for light, fresh and many alcohol-based EDT perfumes, because their volatile notes are designed to shine then soften. It is not a defect. If you want longer, step up in concentration to an EDP, extrait or a perfume oil, which releases slowly and lasts.
Best pick: for longevity and projection, the
Nawaab attar (oud & saffron, from ₹399); for a fresh, subtle daily signature,
Adaa (from ₹379). Every attar is a 3/6/12ML roll-on.

Straight answer
Is a two-to-three-hour perfume normal or defective?
Identify the type. A light EDT, cologne or fresh citrus scent lasting two to three hours is textbook normal. If a dense extrait or oil dies that fast, then something (usually your skin or the heat) is at play.
Set fair expectations. Rough guide: colognes and light EDTs 2–4 hours, EDPs 4–7, extraits and oils 6–12+ — all before your skin and climate adjust the number.
Want more? Change concentration. A perfume oil like
Nawaab (from ₹399) lives at the long end of that scale because it is dense and alcohol-free.
Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Two to three hours is normal for light and alcohol-based scents — not a defect. For longer wear, step up in concentration to an EDP, extrait or a slow-releasing perfume oil.
What counts as normal longevity
1
Context 1
Concentration sets the baseline
SOSA Attar Trio · pack of 3₹1,055 The more perfume oil in the mix, the longer it lasts. Cologne and light EDT sit low and give a few hours; EDP holds longer; extrait and perfume oils are the densest and last longest. If yours is a light EDT, two to three hours is exactly where it should land.

Context 2
The note pyramid shortens the light ones
SOSA Adaa · Bergamot & JasmineFrom ₹379 Fresh, citrus and aquatic scents are built on volatile top notes that are gorgeous and fleeting by nature. They are supposed to open bright and settle quiet within a few hours. That is design, not decay — and it is why summer scents so often feel short.

Context 3
Your skin and climate move the number
SOSA Nawaab · White Oud & SaffronFrom ₹399 Even a normal range slides with dry skin, heat and humidity. In an Indian summer, a scent that lasts five hours in a cool climate might give you three. Normal is a band, not a fixed figure — and yours will sit at the lower end on hot, dry days.
Tip: If a light scent's short life bothers you, do not over-spray — simply carry a 3ML roll-on and refresh once at midday.
Maximum longevity & projection SOSA Nawaab From ₹399 Nawaab (White Oud & Saffron) is the powerhouse of the range - a deep, resinous oud-saffron base that holds on skin for hours and projects for the first stretch of an evening. If longevity and presence are your priority, start here. Sizes 3ML (₹399), 6ML (₹699), 12ML (₹1,199). See Nawaab →
The detail, laid out
Whether two to three hours is normal depends entirely on what you are wearing. Find your format, and you will know instantly whether to relax or to look for a fix.

The SOSA principle
Short longevity is not a verdict on quality — it is a description of concentration. Judge a light scent for its brightness, and reach for an oil when you need the day.
The honest move is matching the format to the hours you need, not expecting every perfume to last twelve.
Fresh, subtle & office-friendly SOSA Adaa From ₹379 Adaa (Bergamot + Cardamom + Jasmine Sambac) is the daytime-grace choice - clean, fresh, and sitting close to the skin, so it lasts without filling a shared room. The right pick for AC offices, hot-humid days and anyone who prefers a quiet signature. Sizes 3ML (₹379), 6ML (₹669), 12ML (₹1,149). See Adaa →
Two to three hours is not a broken perfume. It is a light perfume telling the truth about what it is.

Which attar to pick
The whole decision fits in one box: match the attar to the performance you actually want - longevity and projection, warm richness, a quiet floral, or hot-weather freshness - and remember an oil rewards you most on well-moisturised pulse points. How to read this box: attars are concentrated perfume oils, so as a family they wear
longer and closer to the skin than alcohol sprays - you trade some room-filling projection for longevity and a refined, intimate trail. For the most presence,
Nawaab (oud & saffron) projects hardest and lasts longest; for a clean daytime signature that won't overwhelm a shared cabin,
Adaa is the pick. Every attar comes as a 3ML pocket roll-on (from ₹379) that's effortless to reapply, plus 6ML and 12ML. Scent behaves differently on every person and in every climate, so give it ten minutes on your skin before you judge it, and layer on pulse points for more strength. Everything is made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Why a roll-on oil Long wear, easy reapply From ₹379 An attar is concentrated perfume oil: it wears longer and closer to the skin than an alcohol spray, and the roll-on format is spill-proof and pocketable - the 3ML slips into a bag for touch-ups. Oils lean toward longevity and intimacy over big room-filling projection; for maximum projection, layer or choose the deeper Nawaab. Shop the range →

Frequently asked questions
If 2–3 hours is normal, is longevity overrated?
Not overrated — just situational. For a quick evening a few hours is plenty; for a twelve-hour workday you will want more. Match the concentration to the occasion rather than expecting one bottle to do everything.
My EDP only lasts 2–3 hours — is that normal?
That is on the low side for an EDP, so check the usual suspects: dry skin, heat, application to clothes only, and nose blindness. If it genuinely fades that fast, a concentrated oil will give you more reliable hours.
Which SOSA attar lasts the longest?
Nawaab (White Oud & Saffron, from ₹399), thanks to its deep resinous base. For a fresh scent that still comfortably beats two to three hours,
Adaa (from ₹379) sits close and lasts.
Want more hours
When 2–3 hours isn't enough for your day

Editorial standards & sources
About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Fragrance performance - longevity, projection and sillage - depends on the perfume, but also on your skin type, body chemistry, the weather and how much you apply, so descriptions here are honest guidance, not guarantees. Attars are concentrated perfume oils: they generally wear longer and closer to the skin than alcohol-based EDPs, trading some projection for longevity and intimacy. Always test on skin and give a fragrance ten minutes to settle before judging it; patch-test if you have sensitive skin, and keep oils away from the eyes.
