The instinct in a large room is to pour more fragrance in, but the dose barely moves — and past a point it works against you. For a large living room, use about 6–8 drops in a full Sukoon tank on continuous mist; if you are reaching past 8–10 drops chasing the far corners, the room has outgrown ultrasonic and wants the waterless Vaayu, not more drops.
Quick answers — read this first
How many drops for a large living room? About 6–8 drops in a full 500ml Sukoon tank on continuous mist — the top of the everyday range, then adjust to taste.

Can I keep adding more? No — past ~8–10 drops the scent goes heavy near the machine without reaching further. Dose is not how you fix a large room.

So what does fix a large room? Placement, airflow and, past ~300 sq ft or open-plan, a bigger machine — the waterless Vaayu (₹11,999).
The short answer
Short answer: For a large living room use about 6–8 drops in a full Sukoon tank on continuous mist — roughly 5–10 drops per 100ml of water — and adjust to taste; if you need more than ~8–10 drops to reach the far corners, the room has outgrown ultrasonic and wants the waterless Vaayu.
The pick: the SOSA Sukoon (₹1,799) ultrasonic diffuser plus a Hotel Collection scent (from ₹299) is the hotel-at-home starter; a Boond (₹799) suits a small room or desk, and for a large, open-plan or high-humidity space the waterless Vaayu (₹11,999) adds no moisture.

Straight answer
How much ultrasonic fragrance do you need for a large living room?
1. Dose to the tank, not the room. Think roughly 5–10 drops per 100ml of water; a full 500ml Sukoon at the top of the range is 6–8 drops.

2. Run continuous mist. A large room needs steady output to stay evenly scented, so choose continuous over intermittent.

3. Fix placement before dose. A central, raised position in the airflow does more for a big room than any extra drop.

4. Judge on walking in. Your nose habituates, so assess the scent fresh at the door, not after sitting an hour.

5. Read the ceiling as a signal. If 8 drops still leaves the far side faint, that is coverage, not dose — look at the Vaayu.

Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: 6–8 drops in a full Sukoon for a large room; if you want more, you want a Vaayu.

Why dose is the wrong lever for a big room

1
DROPS PER WATER
You are perfuming the tank
Sukoon - the diffuser Sukoon · the diffuser₹1,799 The most useful mental model is drops-per-water, not drops-per-room. You are scenting a fixed 500ml of water, so roughly 5–10 drops per 100ml — 6–8 for a large room in a full tank — sets the concentration of the mist. What a large room changes is not the concentration but the machine's ability to push that mist across the space. So the honest starting dose for any Sukoon, small room or large, lives in the same narrow band; the room size decides the machine and the placement, not the number of drops.
Tip: Same tank, same 6–8 drops — a bigger room does not want a stronger brew.
2
THE CEILING
More drops goes heavy, not far
Hotel Collection scents Hotel Collection scentsFrom ₹299 There is a hard ceiling around 8–10 drops in a Sukoon. Past it, extra fragrance does not make the room smell stronger — it makes the air near the machine heavier and more cloying while the far corners stay just as faint. The blend tips out of balance. So the reflex to double the drops in a big room actively backfires: you create a dense pocket by the diffuser and still-thin air across the room. If you find yourself past 8 drops still chasing coverage, stop — you have hit the limit of dosing, not of the fragrance.
Tip: If it smells strong by the sofa but faint by the window, that is coverage, not under-dosing.
3
WHAT ACTUALLY HELPS
Placement, airflow, machine
Vaayu - large room Vaayu · large room₹11,999 For a large room the real levers are three, and dose is not one of them. First, placement: centre and raise the Sukoon in the airflow so the mist starts from the middle. Second, airflow: a fan or AC on low circulates the scented mist and effectively extends its reach. Third, past ~300 sq ft or any open plan, the machine itself — the waterless Vaayu (₹11,999) covers up to 1000m³ with headroom a Sukoon does not have. Pull those levers before you touch the dropper.
Tip: Move the diffuser and turn on the fan before you add a single extra drop.

The dosing ceiling, and what it is telling you

The dosing ceiling is genuinely useful information, not a limitation to resent. When you have gone to 7 or 8 drops in a full tank, the air near the Sukoon is unmistakably scented, and a guest across the room still says they can barely tell — that is the room telling you it is larger than one ultrasonic unit can push mist across. It is a coverage message dressed up as a dosing one, and the worst response is to keep pouring.

The right responses, in order: centre and raise the diffuser, run continuous mist, and let a fan or AC circulate the air. If the far side is still faint, add a second Sukoon at the other end — genuinely good for a long living-cum-dining with two distinct zones — or, for one large open span, step up to the waterless Vaayu. And remember AC is your friend: it circulates the mist, so an air-conditioned large room often needs a drop or two less, not more.

Drops by room size

These are starting points — notice the drop count barely rises with room size, because dose is not how you cover a large space.

Dose by living-room size
Drops per full Sukoon tank by room size
Living room Drops (full 500ml) Mist mode
Small (~150 sq ft) 3–4 drops Intermittent
Normal (~200 sq ft) 4–6 drops Intermittent or continuous
Large enclosed (~250–300 sq ft) 6–8 drops Continuous
Large + air-conditioned 5–7 drops Continuous (AC spreads it)
Open-plan / 400+ sq ft Use the Vaayu instead Waterless cold-air

The SOSA principle
In a large room, fragrance dose is a narrow dial — the real controls are placement, airflow and the size of the machine.
Past a point, more drops only thickens the air by the diffuser.

Frequently asked questions

How many drops of fragrance for a large living room?
About 6–8 drops in a full 500ml Sukoon tank on continuous mist — the top of the everyday 3–6 range. Adjust a drop at a time to taste, judging on first walking in.
Why does my large room smell faint even with lots of drops?
Because it is a coverage limit, not a dosing one. Past ~8–10 drops the scent goes heavy near the machine without reaching further. The room likely needs a second Sukoon or the waterless Vaayu.
Is there a maximum number of drops for a Sukoon?
Practically, around 8–10 drops in a full tank. Beyond that the blend tips heavy and cloying rather than stronger, so more drops stop helping. Dose to the water, not the room.
Does air-conditioning change how much fragrance I need?
Yes — AC circulates the scented mist further and faster, so an air-conditioned large room often needs a drop or two less than the same still room.
When should I stop adding drops and buy a Vaayu?
When 6–8 well-placed drops on continuous mist still leave the far corners faint, or the room is open-plan or above ~300 sq ft. That is coverage, and the waterless Vaayu (up to 1000m³) is the fix.
Right dose, right machine
Match the drops to the tank, and the machine to the room
6–8 drops handles a large enclosed room; if you want more reach, that is the Vaayu's job, not the dropper's.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the technique applies to any brand's ultrasonic system.

Facts verified August 2026: An ultrasonic diffuser disperses a water-based fragrance as a cool micro-mist, scenting a room without heat or flame and adding a little humidity. Great hotels use commercial HVAC scenting to create a signature smell; at home the same effect comes from a diffuser plus a hotel-inspired blend. SOSA Sukoon is a 500ml ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser with a 7-colour mood light (₹1,799); Boond is a 300ml mini ultrasonic diffuser (₹799); both run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. The Hotel Collection comes in seven scents (Ritz-Carlton, Westin, 1 Hotels, St. Regis, Shangri-La, Four Seasons and W Hotels styles) in 15ml (₹299), 100ml (₹999) and 300ml (₹1,799), plus 15ml Pack of 7 (₹1,799); dose 3-6 drops per tank, use SOSA diffuser fragrance only (not raw essential/carrier oils), and rinse between scents. For large, open-plan or high-humidity spaces the waterless SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³) adds no humidity; the Aangan (₹25,999) is a whole-home HVAC system. The scents are SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
