Two reasonable wishes, and they do not fit together at the same setting: a showroom that greets people with something, and a ninety-minute meeting nobody wants to escape from. Somebody has to lose the argument, and I have never once thought it should be the person in the chair.
Quick answers — read this first
How do I keep a kitchen showroom fragrant without making long consultations uncomfortable? By deciding in advance who the level belongs to, and it is the person who stays longest. A visitor who walks through for six minutes will not notice a level set for a ninety-minute consultation, but a customer seated for ninety minutes absolutely notices a level set for a six-minute walkthrough. The comfort of the seated customer is the ceiling for the whole building, and everything else is arranged underneath it. That is not a compromise setting; it is one setting chosen from the right seat.

Doesn't that make the showroom smell of almost nothing? It makes it smell of something you cannot name, which is the target anyway. A room that reads as looked-after is doing the job; a room where a customer says "what is that fragrance?" is over-scented, whatever the compliment sounds like. And you get more presence than the dial suggests for free, because the entrance sits closest to the source and falls away inward - so arrival is naturally the strongest moment of the visit without you engineering it.

What is the actual setup, and what does it cost? One machine, placed upstream on the air path and well away from the consultation table, on trading-hours timers and run near the bottom of its range. For a floor past about 1,500 sq ft that is one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999. Under about 750 sq ft it is one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 and a Vaayu would be the wrong buy. One machine, not two.
The short answer
Short answer: by giving the level to the person who stays longest. A six-minute visitor will not miss a level set for a ninety-minute consultation, but a seated customer will certainly notice one set for a walkthrough - so the seated customer sets the ceiling, the source goes upstream and away from the table, and the machine runs low on trading hours. One Vaayu at ₹11,999, or a Sukoon at ₹1,899 under 750 sq ft.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) placed upstream on the air path and away from the consultation table, or one SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) where the showroom is a single room under about 750 sq ft.
Next step: send the floor plan showing where the consultation table sits relative to the entrance and the air handling, and we will tell you where the one source goes - Ask for a retail scenting plan.

Straight answer
How do I keep the showroom fragrant without making a ninety-minute consultation uncomfortable?
You resolve it by deciding, once and in writing, who the level belongs to - and the answer is the person who stays longest. Here is why that is not merely a kind choice but the correct one. The two experiences in your building are asymmetric. A visitor walking the display floor for six or eight minutes, in moving air, with doors opening, receives a small fraction of what a customer seated at a consultation table receives across ninety minutes, because exposure accumulates with time and the seated customer's air is barely being exchanged. Now consider what each of them loses if you set the level for the other. Set it for the seated customer, and the walk-through visitor gets a room that smells clean and looked-after rather than obviously fragranced - which, as it happens, is the target anyway. Set it for the walk-through visitor, and the seated customer spends the last half-hour of a several-lakh decision quietly wishing they were somewhere else, and will never tell you so. The downside is entirely one-sided, so the decision is one-sided. The seated customer's comfort is the ceiling for the whole building. What people expect me to say next is that you therefore accept a bland floor, and I do not, because the tension mostly dissolves once you stop trying to solve it at the dial. Three moves do the work. First, placement. One source, upstream on the air path - near where air enters the room, roughly a metre off the floor, out of the AC return's pull, not at the door and never inside a display kitchen - and as far from the consultation table as the plan allows. Distance is a volume control that costs nothing and does not have to be balanced against anything. Second, the gradient you already have. A single source produces a falling gradient by itself: strongest nearest the machine and weaker as you move away. If the machine sits near the front of the floor and the consultation area sits at the back, arrival is naturally the most present moment of the visit and the table is naturally the quietest, without a second machine, a second setting, or any engineering at all. Third, time. The 1h/4h/8h/24h timers mean the room runs on trading hours rather than continuously, so the air is not accumulating overnight and the first customers of the day arrive to a room that has settled rather than one that has been soaking. What you must not do, in order of how often I see it: do not put a second, smaller unit near the consultation area to keep it "consistent" - a source two metres from a seated customer is the worst-placed machine in the building. Do not turn the whole floor up and then apologise for the meeting room. And do not decide the level standing at the entrance with the door open, because your nose adapts within about twenty minutes and the doorway reading is meaningless. Take the measurement from the chair: sit at your own consultation table for a full ninety minutes, and ask the designers who sit there nine hours a day, six days a week, privately and after an ordinary week. Hardware, honestly. Past about 1,500 sq ft, one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999: rated to 1000m³ so it runs near the bottom of its range, waterless, under 38dB so it is inaudible from the table, key-locked so the setting holds. Under about 750 sq ft, one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899, and a Vaayu would be the wrong buy. Register unchanged throughout: dry, material-led, nothing edible - our own Fresh Brew, coffee and vanilla at ₹849, is exactly what not to use here. Three limits: anyone must be able to switch it off in seconds; fragrance is never a mask for laminate, adhesive or new joinery, which need ventilation and time; and no one can promise you that ambient scent moves footfall, enquiries, order value or a customer's decision, and a supplier offering you a figure is selling. Ask for a retail scenting plan and send the floor plan.
The seated customer sets the ceiling, because they lose far more from a level set for a walkthrough than a walkthrough loses from a level set for them. Then solve the rest with placement and the natural gradient rather than the dial. One machine: ₹11,999, or ₹1,899 under 750 sq ft.
One SOSA Vaayu, placed upstream and away from the table - 1000m³ so it runs low, under 38dB so it is inaudible during a meeting, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers so it runs on trading hours only. ₹11,999. Under 750 sq ft, the Sukoon at ₹1,899 is the honest buy and the same placement rule applies.

The machine, and where it sits

Two honest answers by size. In both cases the placement matters more than the model, because distance from the table is the control that costs nothing.

SOSA Vaayu
A display floor past about 1,500 sq ft
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, roughly 2,000-3,000 sq ft. 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, auto-stop and key-lock. Placed upstream near where air enters and as far from the consultation table as the plan allows.
From ₹11,999
SOSA Sukoon
Under about 750 sq ft - buy this instead
SOSA Sukoon
Ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft, supplied with three 15ml fragrances. Where the whole showroom is one room, this is the honest buy, placed at the opposite end from the table so the little distance you have is all being used.
From ₹1,899
SOSA Vaayu
One source, quiet enough and low enough for a long meeting
SOSA Vaayu
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Made in India. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml and further supply should be confirmed with SOSA.

The three ways to resolve the tension

None of the three is a compromise on the dial. Two of them are free, and the third is a timer setting you make once.

1
Give the ceiling to the chair
The visitor loses almost nothing; the seated customer loses the last half-hour
This is the whole decision and it is worth writing down so nobody relitigates it on a slow Tuesday. If you set the level for a ninety-minute consultation, someone walking through for six minutes gets a room that reads as clean and cared-for - which is the honest target regardless. If you set it for the walkthrough, the customer at the table is still receiving fragrance at minute eighty-five while reading a quotation, and they will not complain, they will simply feel slightly worse. The costs are not symmetrical, so the decision is not a balance. Put the rule on the same card as the setting: the level belongs to whoever stays longest in the building.
Tip: Write the rule down. It stops the level drifting up between owners of the question.
SOSA Vaayu
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.

2
Use the floor plan as your dial
Distance from the table is a volume control nobody has to argue about
A single source produces a gradient: strongest near the machine, falling away with distance and air movement. That gradient is the answer to this whole question, and it is free. Put the machine near the front of the floor, upstream on the air path, roughly a metre up and out of the AC return's pull - and put the consultation area at the far end of that gradient. The arrival is then naturally the most present moment of a visit and the table naturally the quietest, with one setting and one machine. What you must never do is add a second unit near the consultation area to even it out. Two sources in one volume do not add up, they meet, and the meeting point is a seam.
Tip: Trace where air enters your floor with a tissue before choosing the spot.
SOSA Vaayu
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.

3
Let the timers do the rest
A room that runs on trading hours has not been soaking overnight
Continuous running is how showrooms end up stronger than anybody intended - the air accumulates outside trading hours, so the first appointment of the day walks into a level nobody chose. The 1h/4h/8h/24h timers put the machine on your actual opening hours and off after close, which means the room settles overnight and each day starts from the same place. If you run cooking demonstrations, the same timers take the machine off entirely for the demonstration and until the extraction has cleared, which is the house position and not a compromise. And anybody working on the floor must be able to switch it off in seconds without asking permission - if someone at the table minds, off is the correct and immediate answer.
SOSA Vaayu
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
See SOSA Vaayu →
The SOSA principle
The two requirements only conflict at the dial. Moved to the floor plan they stop conflicting, because distance gives the entrance its presence and gives the consultation table its quiet out of the same single source.
Which is why the answer to this question is almost never a number and almost always a location.
SOSA Vaayu
One source, one gradient: SOSA Vaayu placed upstream gives the entrance its presence and the consultation table its quiet, with nothing to balance. ₹11,999.

The plan for a long-visit showroom

The whole resolution as a plan, short enough to pin up beside the machine.

The SOSA plan
Keeping the floor fragrant and the meeting comfortable
The decision What to do
Whose comfort sets the level
The seated customer, always. A walkthrough visitor loses little from a low level; a seated one loses the last half-hour of a long meeting.
SOSA VaayuWhere the source goes
Upstream on the air path, about a metre up, out of the AC return, far from the consultation table. Never near the table and never inside a display kitchen.
How many machines
One. A second unit in the same volume makes a seam rather than coverage, and near the table it is the worst placement in the building.
When it runs
Trading hours on the timer, off overnight, and off entirely during and after any live cooking demonstration.
SOSA SukoonWho can stop it
Anybody on the floor, in seconds, without asking. If a customer at the table minds, it goes off immediately.

The number itself is worked through in how strong fragrance should be when customers spend sixty to ninety minutes choosing a kitchen, and the reason a second machine near the table is the wrong answer is set out in whether the designer's consultation table should be scented differently from the display floor. The complete method is in how to scent a kitchen studio without distracting customers during design consultations. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel.

SOSA Vaayu
Trading hours, not around the clock: 1h/4h/8h/24h timers stop the room accumulating overnight, so every day starts at the level you chose. ₹11,999.
One source, placed rather than balanced
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 covers up to 1000m³, so a single machine gives the entrance its presence and the table its quiet.
See the SOSA Vaayu Book a scenting plan
Nobody has ever walked out of a showroom because it smelled too little. People do quietly stop enjoying a meeting because a room is working too hard at them, and they never say so.

The SOSA showroom specification

Two machines cover almost every kitchen showroom, and neither of them goes near the consultation table. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately, so the 400ml supplied runs 90+ days a fill and continuity of supply should be confirmed with SOSA before a rollout. Decide once that the level belongs to whoever sits longest, then solve the rest with placement and timers rather than with the dial. Ambient scent here is a presentation decision like the lighting over your sample wall; it is never a mask for laminate, adhesive or new joinery, which need ventilation and curing time instead; and no one can promise you that scent moves a business number, so a supplier quoting you one is selling rather than advising. Ask for a retail scenting plan before you spend anything.

A note from Sonal

This question usually arrives from somebody who has already been told they cannot have both, and I think that is wrong. What they cannot have is both solved on the same dial. The moment you move the problem from the dial to the floor plan, the two wishes stop competing: one source, placed near the front and upstream, gives the entrance its moment and gives the table at the back its peace, and you have not compromised on anything except the idea that the level should be high.

The part that people find harder is accepting whose comfort decides. It has to be the person in the chair, because the arithmetic of loss is lopsided - a visitor walking through for six minutes will barely register a quiet room, but a customer at minute eighty-five of a long meeting will register a busy one, and they will never tell you. So make the rule explicit and write it on the card next to the setting. It stops the level creeping upwards every time somebody enthusiastic walks in from the car park.

On hardware: one Vaayu at ₹11,999 past about 1,500 sq ft, or a Sukoon at ₹1,899 under 750, and never a second unit beside the table. Fragrance is never a substitute for ventilation, nobody can promise you a commercial result, and if the showroom still smells of its own fit-out then nothing here applies until that has gone. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

How do I keep a kitchen showroom fragrant without making long consultations uncomfortable?
Give the level to the person who stays longest. A visitor walking through for six minutes loses very little from a level set for a ninety-minute consultation, while a seated customer loses the last half-hour of a long meeting if you set it the other way. Then solve the rest with placement: one source upstream, far from the table, running on trading-hours timers rather than continuously.
Should I put a second machine near the consultation area to keep it consistent?
No. Two sources in one connected volume do not add up to even coverage, they meet, and the meeting point is a seam in the middle of your floor. Near a consultation table it is worse than that, because a source two metres from someone who has not moved for an hour is the worst-placed machine in the building. One source, upstream, and let the natural gradient do the work.
Won't a low setting make the showroom smell of nothing?
It makes it smell of something a customer cannot name, which is the target. A room that reads as looked-after is doing the job. And a single source gives you a falling gradient for free, so the entrance is naturally the most present moment of a visit and the consultation area the quietest, without a second machine or a second setting anywhere in the plan.
What machine and what does it cost?
One machine. Past about 1,500 sq ft, a SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999, rated to 1000m3 so it runs near the bottom of its range, waterless, under 38dB and key-locked. Under about 750 sq ft, a SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,899, and a Vaayu would be the wrong buy at that size. In both cases the placement matters more than the model you choose.
Will a comfortable, well-scented consultation win more kitchen orders?
No one can promise that, and I will not. SOSA has run no research that would support a figure, and there is no honest way to separate ambient scent from the design work, the samples, the pricing and the designer's manner. What you can judge for yourself is whether the air agrees with what the showroom is selling, and whether the person in the chair is still comfortable at minute ninety.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.

Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with adjustable intensity, a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, operation under 38dB at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification, which are electrical and compliance marks and not medical approvals. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is an ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft and is supplied with three 15ml fragrances; the water-based Hotel Collection (₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799) is an ultrasonic fragrance and is not a refill for a waterless cold-air machine. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with 50ml lasting about 6-8 weeks and 130ml about 14-18 weeks. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml included and further refills should be confirmed with SOSA. Warranty, annual maintenance, installation and bulk terms are not published and should be confirmed before ordering. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and infection control and is never a substitute for any of them, it is never used to mask another smell, and no claim is made that fragrance influences a patient's decision or any commercial outcome. Clinical areas including procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms are left unscented, and the treating clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan in their own room. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference.
