Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 12 min read Updated September 2026
You have given five facts, which is four more than most versions of this question arrive with, and the useful thing to do with five facts is sort them rather than answer all of them. Two of yours decide it. Eighty minutes of occupied cabin in exactly two journeys sets the press count and therefore the bottle. Travelling alone removes the one problem that usually forces the answer, which is other people's preferences. Two more are genuinely not variables - the overnight charge and the covered bay - and the fifth, windows closed with the air-conditioning running, is real but yields less than you would expect, because the figure it would need is not published. Here is each of the five, and then the decision.
SOSA car perfume, spray or hanging, from Rs 449
SOSA car perfume · spray or hanging, same price · nine scents from ₹449 →
Two of your five facts carry this decision. The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays, which at one press each way is the published fifty days. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks, with the stopper as its control. Travelling alone is what makes the second of those a real contender rather than a polite alternative.
Quick answers — read this first
Which facts about a commute actually decide a car fragrance choice? Occupied time and who is in the car. Forty minutes each way is two journeys and, at one press each, two sprays a day - the published 50 days from a 10ml at ₹449 to ₹549, 100 sprays. Travelling alone means no agreement to keep. Charging and covered parking are not fragrance variables, and no air-exchange figure is published for a closed cabin, so that one cannot be turned into a rule.

Should a solo driver prioritise control or longevity? For a solo driver the two formats come genuinely close, which is unusual. Control matters most when somebody else has to live with your choice, and alone in the car nobody does. So the tie-breaker is temperament: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays and asks for a decision twice a day, while a 12ml hanging at the same price runs 4 to 6 weeks and asks for nothing. Eighty occupied minutes out of 1,440 is the argument for the first.

Does covered overnight parking change how a car fragrance behaves? No page can tell you that, because no such figure is published. SOSA states that the range is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, which is a statement about stability rather than a performance curve, and no seasonal or temperature claim follows from it in either direction. What covered parking genuinely tells you is that the car is shut and empty for those hours.
The short answer
Short answer: Two of the five facts decide it. Eighty occupied minutes in two journeys means two presses a day, which is the published 50 days from a 10ml at 100 sprays, Rs 449 to Rs 549. Travelling alone removes the control problem, so the 12ml hanging at the same price becomes a real contender. Charging and covered parking are not fragrance variables, and no air-exchange figure is published for a closed cabin.
The pick: A 10ml SOSA car perfume spray, ₹449 to ₹549 if you want to decide each way - 100 sprays, fifty days at two a day. The 12ml hanging at the same price is the honest alternative for a solo driver.
Why: Occupied time sets the press count and solo travel removes the control argument, so the choice comes down to whether you want to decide twice a day or not at all.
What the car runs on is not the variable. How it is used is.On demand - 10ml spray ₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 spraysContinuous - 12ml hanging, same price, 4 to 6 weeksVentilate a hot or long-shut cabin before you judge itNever - fragrance instead of finding a smell's source
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
Straight answer
I drive a hatchback in Pune for 40 minutes each way, charge at home overnight under covered parking, keep the windows closed with the air-conditioning running and normally travel alone. Should I prioritise controllable fragrance during those two occupied periods rather than maximum all-day longevity?
Take the five facts one at a time, because two of them decide this and the rest are quieter than they look. Fact one, forty minutes each way. That is eighty occupied minutes a day arriving in exactly two journeys, and journeys are what a spray counts. A 10ml SOSA spray is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon and ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, and is published at 100 sprays: 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. One press each way is the fifty-day bottle. Fact two, you travel alone. This is the one most people leave out and it matters more than the other four combined, because the usual argument for a spray is control - somebody else has to live with what you chose, so you want a format that does not install a decision. Alone in the car, nobody inherits anything, and that argument disappears. Which means the 12ml hanging, same price for the same scent, 4 to 6 weeks, stopper loosening for stronger and tightening for subtler, is a genuine contender here rather than a polite second option. Fact three, the overnight charge. Not a variable. SOSA publishes nothing about charging, and what your routine actually describes is a car shut and stationary for eight or ten hours - the same as a petrol car on the same driveway with no cable attached. Fact four, covered parking. Also not a variable, and here the page has to hold a line in both directions: no temperature or seasonal performance claim is published, so nobody can tell you shade makes a fragrance last longer, and nobody can tell you it does not. What is published is that the range is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C and 85 per cent relative humidity, which is a stability statement. Fact five, windows closed with the air-conditioning running. Real, but it yields less than you expect: no air-exchange rate and no cabin volume is published, so no mechanism can be built on it. The one thing it fairly supports is starting at one press rather than two, since adding a second press is available at any moment and removing one never is. So: prioritise control if you want the two journeys to be able to differ, and do not if you would rather never think about it. Either way the choice is yours alone, which is the luxury of the fifth fact. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house in Pune sending orders across India, so this is delivery to your door rather than a counter to visit. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Two facts decide it: eighty occupied minutes in two journeys, and nobody else in the car. The other three are quieter than they look.
The short version: two journeys a day, so a 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 with its 100 sprays is fifty days at one press each way. The 12ml hanging is the same price, runs 4 to 6 weeks and has the stopper as its control - and with nobody else in the car, that is a real choice rather than a compromise.

Five facts on the table, and the two that carry the decision

Sorting the five is more useful than answering all five, because three of them cannot carry a recommendation and two of them carry the whole thing. Here are the three that decide, adjust and disappear, in that order.

01
Eighty minutes, two journeys
Long occupied stretches, but still only two press events a day
Your commute is unusual in this bank in one specific way: the occupied stretches are long but the number of them is small. Eighty minutes a day is a great deal of time to sit with a decision, and it is still only two decisions. That matters because a spray is consumed by presses rather than by minutes. A 10ml is 100 sprays, published as 50 days at two a day and 3 months and above at one a day, so your entire consumption question is whether you press once or twice. Somebody with five short errands a day and twenty minutes in the car will empty a bottle far faster than you will. That also reframes the longevity question in your own words: all-day persistence is a property that matters during the one thousand three hundred and sixty minutes when the car is shut and nobody is in it.
Tip: Long journeys are cheap to the bottle. Many journeys are expensive. Yours are long and few.
02
Nobody else is in the car
Travelling alone removes the argument that usually settles this
The standard case for a controllable format is not really about strength; it is about authority. In a shared car, a continuous product installs one person's decision into everybody's journey, and a spray avoids that because it has no setting between presses. Alone, that entire argument falls away, and with it most of the reason the spray usually wins. So the honest position is that your two formats are close, they cost the same for the same scent, and the tie-breaker is temperament rather than principle. Do you want the outbound and the return to be able to differ? Take the spray. Would you rather the car were simply the way you like it without your doing anything? Take the hanging, and use the stopper as the control - tightened for subtler, loosened for stronger.
03
The three quiet facts
Charging and covered parking are not variables, and the closed cabin has no published figure
All three deserve a straight answer rather than a hedge. Charging is not a fragrance variable: SOSA publishes nothing about it, and an overnight charge describes a car that is shut for eight or ten hours, which a driveway would have told you. Covered parking is not one either, in either direction - no temperature or seasonal performance claim is published, so this page will not say shade helps and will not say it does not. And the closed, air-conditioned cabin has no published air-exchange rate, no cabin volume and no coverage figure, so no mechanism can be built from it. What it fairly supports is a modest starting point, because one more press is available at any second of the journey and one fewer press is not available at all. Nor does the powertrain enter it: there is no petrol, diesel or electric product in the range and no published difference between them.
Tip: A fact you cannot turn into a published figure is still worth naming - as a fact you are not using.
SOSA Mysore Orange Blossom car perfume spray, 10ml and 50ml
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
See Mysore Orange Blossom from ₹549 →
Work it out in this order
Sort five facts into two decisions
  1. Count journeys, not minutes. Two a day, so one or two presses. That is the whole rate.
  2. Note that you travel alone, which removes the control argument for the spray.
  3. Strike out charging and covered parking. Neither is a published fragrance variable.
  4. Choose on temperament: decide twice a day, or set it once and leave it alone.
The SOSA principle
Your bottle is counting journeys, and you make two. Eighty occupied minutes and two presses is the whole consumption question.
Which is why, alone in the car, the format question is genuinely open rather than a polite way of arriving at the spray.

The two formats, and why travelling alone reopens the choice

Since the spray and the hanging cost the same, scent for scent, and since nobody else is in the car, this is the purest version of the scent decision the range offers: Jasmine at ₹449, Lavender at ₹479, Sandalwood at ₹479, Icy Mint at ₹489, Lemon at ₹499, Oud at ₹509, Vetiver at ₹509 and Sea Breeze at ₹509, plus Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549, which is spray only and has no hanging version - worth knowing before you settle on it, since it removes the format choice this page has just opened up. The published ordering of depth is Lavender softest, then Lemon, then Sandalwood, with Oud the deepest, and Jasmine sits at the softer end. Eighty minutes a day is long enough that the difference between the two ends of that ordering is something you will actually live with rather than merely notice.

The SOSA gift edit
Four buys for eighty occupied minutes a day, and where each gives way
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
A 10ml spray, ₹449 to ₹549 One press each way is the published 50 days at two a day; one press a day is 3 months and above. The outbound and the return can differ. It fails by asking for a decision twice a day for a benefit that, alone in the car, only you ever assess.
A 12ml hanging at the same price 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass, the stopper as the strength control, and nothing to remember. A real contender here precisely because nobody else inherits the setting. It fails on the arithmetic: eighty occupied minutes out of 1,440 means most of its output goes into a shut, empty car.
The Discovery Set, ₹699 to ₹899 Three 10ml sprays, and a solo driver with eighty minutes a day is the one person who can run a fair comparison without consulting anybody. It fails on choice: the nine combinations are published and fixed, so you pick a trio from the list rather than composing one.
The 50ml spray at ₹1,499 500 sprays and about a year and more - the right size once you know whether you press once or twice a day. It fails as a first buy: there is no spray refill, so it commits a year to a routine you have not yet watched for a month.
SOSA Lavender car perfume, spray and hanging formats
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
See SOSA car perfumes from ₹449 →

Three published details are worth having before you decide. 15ml refills exist for the hanging at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents in a refillable glass bottle, and there is no spray refill at all, which quietly favours the hanging for anybody planning to keep one scent for a long time - Orange Blossom has no refill in either form. The spray is a fine-mist atomizer and one spray covers the cabin, which is the only coverage statement published and the only one this page will make. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, and formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity. SOSA is based in Pune and sends orders across India, so this is delivery to Pune rather than somewhere to walk into.

The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.

SOSA car perfume spray - 10ml Fragrance you switch on ₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin from ₹449
SOSA car hanging - 12ml Fragrance that simply runs The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler from ₹449
SOSA car perfume spray - 50ml The long-run size ₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out ₹1,499
Car perfume combos Two scents, one purchase ₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs from ₹899
Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set Three to try ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays, or ₹2,999 for all nine. Nine published combinations, and those nine are the whole range - none is composed to order from ₹699
Hanging refills - 15ml Only the hanging refills ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you from ₹399
SOSA Safar The powered option ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder from ₹3,999

The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.

What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.

So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.

And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.

Frequently asked questions

Should a forty-minute commute change which car fragrance I buy?
Less than you would think. A spray is consumed by presses, not by minutes, so forty minutes each way is two journeys and, at one press each, two sprays a day. A 10ml is 100 sprays, published as 50 days at two a day and 3 months and above at one a day. What a long commute changes is how long you sit with a press, not how many you make.
Does covered overnight parking help a car fragrance last?
No such figure is published, so this page will not claim it does and will not claim it does not. SOSA states that the range is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, which is a stability statement rather than a performance curve. What covered parking genuinely tells you is that the car is shut and empty for those hours.
Does keeping the windows closed with the air-conditioning on mean I should use less?
It is a fair reason to start at one press rather than two, but not for the mechanism usually given. SOSA publishes no air-exchange rate, no cabin volume and no coverage figure, so nobody can tell you what a closed cabin does. The argument that holds is simpler: one more press is available at any moment, and one fewer press is not available at all.
If I always drive alone, is the hanging as good a choice as the spray?
It becomes a genuine contender, yes. The main case for a controllable format is that somebody else has to live with the decision, and alone in the car nobody does. Both cost the same for the same scent. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks with the stopper as the control; the spray is 100 sprays and lets the outward and return journeys differ.
Can I buy SOSA in person in Pune?
No. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune that sends orders across India, and the range is bought online rather than over a counter. For anything the product pages do not answer - press counts, format, or which scent sits where on the published depth ordering - the route is WhatsApp on +91 96192 18531.

Not sure which one suits the person you are buying for? Send SOSA their age, whether they drive, whether they like their home scented and your budget on WhatsApp, and you will get an honest answer - including when the cheaper product is the better gift.
Car fragrance chosen from how the car is used, not from what it runs on
SOSA — alcohol-free car perfumes, nine scents, spray or hanging at the same price from ₹449; a 10ml spray is 100 sprays and a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks
Tell SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 how many separate journeys the car makes in a day rather than how long they are, and whether anybody else ever drives it, and you will get one straight answer - including the times that answer is the hanging at the same price, because alone in the car there is nobody to control it for. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product details reflect the SOSA range; the reasoning about parking, occupancy and ventilation applies to any brand.

Specifications verified from the live SOSA product pages, September 2026: SOSA publishes nine car perfume scents. Eight are sold in two formats at the same price per scent - a 10ml spray and a 12ml hanging: Jasmine ₹449; Lavender and Sandalwood ₹479; Icy Mint ₹489; Lemon ₹499; Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze ₹509. Mysore Orange Blossom is spray only, ₹549 in 10ml. A 50ml spray is ₹1,499. The published quantities are: 10ml equals 100 sprays, stated as three months and above at one spray a day and fifty days at two a day; 50ml equals 500 sprays, stated as about a year and more; a spray combo is 200 sprays; and a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks, that is 28 to 42 days, of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle whose stopper loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler. Four combos are published - Jasmine & Lemon and Jasmine & Lavender at ₹899, Oud + Lemon and Sandalwood & Oud at ₹949 - each as a spray combo of 2 x 10ml or a hanging combo of 2 x 12ml at the same price. The Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set publishes nine combinations, ₹699 to ₹899 for three and ₹2,999 for all nine; those nine are the entire set range and none is composed to order. Hanging refills are 15ml at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents; there is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India. SOSA Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
