Hosting well is a hundred small signals that add up to one feeling: you were expected, and you are welcome. Scent is the one signal a guest meets before anything else, and the one they carry home — which is why a little planning here does more than almost any other host's touch.

Start with where, because it is the part people get wrong. A guest experiences a path through your home, not a floor plan — the door, the sofa, the walk to the washroom. Scent that path in the order it is met: the entryway first, because the first breath sets the whole evening; the living or dining room where everyone settles; and the guest washroom, the one room a guest uses alone and always notices. Rooms guests never enter — the kitchen, your study — do not need fragrance; they need airflow. The honest caveats, because hosting is exactly when they matter most. Fragrance crowns clean, aired air — it never covers a stale room or cooking smells, so ventilate and clear odour at source before you scent anything. Keep any scent near the dining table low and off the plate; food and fragrance fight. And because the Sukoon and Boond are ultrasonic and add mild humidity, run them as pre-arrival sessions rather than for hours; in a humid coastal city like Mumbai or Chennai, keep sessions to around 40 minutes, or move to a waterless Vaayu if you host often and want scent running across a large home through a long evening with no dampness.
