Founders opening in a second city often assume the fragrance needs rethinking for the climate. It does not. What needs rethinking is the number on the dial, and nobody warns them about that one because it is far less interesting.
Quick answers — read this first
Can one signature fragrance work across four cities? Yes, and it should. A clean, dry, cool register - white tea, a dry light citrus, or soft woods - is the right direction for a hair clinic in Delhi for exactly the same reasons it is right in Kochi, and none of those reasons are climatic. They come from what the building does: surgery, consultations, people who are self-conscious about how they look. Changing the fragrance by city is not localisation, it is an unmanaged decision, and it is how a group ends up with four brands instead of one.

So what actually changes between cities? How the same oil reads in the room. Humid coastal air carries a profile differently from dry inland air, and it usually reads heavier and lingers longer. Very dry conditioned air makes a light citrus flash off quickly and read thin, so people turn it up. Older buildings leak air and lose fragrance constantly; a new sealed one holds it. Add ceiling height and air-conditioning type and you have four buildings that need four settings, which has nothing to do with the four cities they happen to be in.

What do I buy for each city? The same class of machine, chosen by each branch's own floor area rather than by its city. Past roughly 1,500 sq ft, one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 per site; where a branch's patient-facing side is a single reception under about 750 sq ft, one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899. The Vaayu being waterless is worth having in a coastal city, because it adds no moisture to a reception in July.
The short answer
Short answer: yes, and you should. One clean, dry, cool profile across every city, chosen once - the reasons a hair clinic smells the way it does come from what the building does, not from the weather outside it. What does not travel is the setting: humidity, ceiling height, AC type and building age change how the same oil reads, so the intensity is set per building. One Vaayu (₹11,999) per site, or a Sukoon (₹1,899) below about 750 sq ft.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) per city site, waterless so it adds no moisture in a coastal monsoon, with the intensity set separately in each building - or one SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) at a small branch.
Next step: send the four floor plans with ceiling heights and AC type marked, and we will tell you which two will need the biggest gap between their settings and why - Ask for a clinic scenting plan.

Four cities is really four buildings. The fragrance is a brand decision made once; the level is a measurement taken four times.

Straight answer
Can a hair transplant group use one signature fragrance across clinics in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad?
Yes, and I would argue you should. The register a hair clinic wants - clean, dry and cool: white tea, a dry light citrus, or soft woods - is chosen because of what happens inside the building, not because of what the weather is doing outside it. Grafts are extracted and placed in Delhi exactly as they are in Bengaluru; patients are self-conscious about their scalp in both; the wrong directions are sweet, gourmand, powdery and heavy floral in both. There is no climatic argument for a different fragrance in a different city, and if you allow one you will have four brands inside three years, because the moment localisation is permitted it never stops at climate. So the profile is a group constant, chosen once, with no second fragrance anywhere in any building. What genuinely does not travel is the setting. The same oil, in the same machine, at the same intensity, reads differently in different air. Humid coastal air tends to carry a profile more heavily and hold it longer, so a Mumbai reception in July can read stronger at the same number than the same room in February. Very dry conditioned air does the opposite: a light citrus flashes off quickly and reads thin, which is exactly the condition under which someone turns the dial up and over-scents the room by March. Then there are the differences that have nothing to do with the city at all but always arrive with it - ceiling height, which decides volume and which a floor plan hides; whether the branch runs ducted central AC that will carry a profile down a corridor or wall-mounted splits that produce pockets; how old and how tight the building is, since an older one leaks air constantly and a new sealed one holds everything; and how much upholstery and curtain is in the reception to take up fragrance and give it back slowly. The constant is the fragrance and the variable is the dial. Set each branch by walking in from outside after a break, at the lowest level where you notice a clean room rather than a fragrance, write the number on that branch's sheet, and engage the key-lock. One SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 per site past roughly 1,500 sq ft, and being waterless it adds no moisture to a coastal reception in monsoon, which a water-based unit cannot claim. Under about 750 sq ft, one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 instead. One honest warning about monsoon cities: if a branch smells musty in July, that is a moisture or ventilation problem for your facilities team and fragrance is never the answer to it, because scent is never used to cover another smell. Everything else stays identical - procedure, recovery and photography rooms unscented in all four, no clinical or therapeutic claim anywhere, and no promise that any of this moves a business number. Ask for a clinic scenting plan and send all four plans together.
One profile across every city, chosen once, with no local variation. The setting is per building: humidity, ceiling height, AC type and building age all change how the same oil reads. Waterless matters most on the coast.
The same machine in every city, set differently in each. SOSA Vaayu - waterless, so it adds no moisture in a coastal monsoon, rated to 1000m³, with adjustable intensity and a key-lock. ₹11,999 per site. A branch under about 750 sq ft takes the Sukoon at ₹1,899.

The machine, by branch size

City does not decide the machine; each branch's own floor area and air path do. What the city does decide is where the dial ends up, and that is a five-minute job on site rather than a purchasing decision.

SOSA Vaayu
City branches past about 1,500 sq ft
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. No water and no heat, which is the specification that matters in a humid coastal city where nobody wants a machine adding moisture to a reception. Adjustable intensity, timers, under 38dB, key-lock, wall or HVAC mountable.
From ₹11,999
SOSA Sukoon
Small city branches - under about 750 sq ft
SOSA Sukoon
Ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft, supplied with three 15ml hotel-inspired fragrances. Where a branch's patient-facing side is one reception, this is the honest buy in any city, and it reaches the same perceived level a larger machine reaches in a larger sibling.
From ₹1,899
SOSA Vaayu
The branch machine for any city site past 1,500 sq ft
SOSA Vaayu
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified - electrical and compliance marks, not medical approvals. Made in India.

Three things that change between cities

None of these are reasons to change the fragrance. All three are reasons the same fragrance will need a different number in each branch.

1
Expect humid air to read heavier
A coastal reception in July is not the same room as it is in January
In humid air a profile tends to carry more and hang around longer, so the level that read as barely-there in a dry month can read as present in monsoon. The correction is the dial, taken down a step, and then taken back up when the season turns - which is exactly why the quarterly walk-in check exists rather than an annual one. The other coastal consideration is the machine itself. A waterless cold-air unit adds nothing to the air; a water-based ultrasonic one puts moisture into a room that already has plenty. And if a branch smells musty in monsoon, that is a building problem for your facilities team - fragrance is never used to cover it.
Tip: Set coastal branches at the start of monsoon rather than in the dry season, then check again when the weather turns.

2
Expect very dry conditioned air to read thin
The thin months are when a level quietly gets pushed up
In a dry inland winter, with the air conditioning working hard, a light clean profile can flash off quickly and read as almost nothing by mid-morning. Someone notices, turns it up, and the setting never comes back down - and by the time the humid months arrive the branch is over-scented and nobody remembers who changed it. That single sequence is responsible for most of the over-scented clinic receptions I have walked into. The defence is procedural rather than technical: record the setting on the branch sheet, engage the key-lock, and allow one named person to change it. If a patient can identify the fragrance, it is too strong, in any month and any city.
Tip: Dust matters too. In a dusty dry city the filters and returns need attention on their own schedule, and that is a cleaning job rather than a scenting one.

3
Look at the building, not the postcode
Ceiling height, AC type and building age outweigh the climate
Most of the difference between two of your branches will not be the city at all. Coverage is quoted in cubic metres because volume is what counts, and a double-height reception can hold twice the air of a same-sized one under a nine-foot ceiling. Ducted central AC carries a profile along a corridor and past closed cabins if the unit is mounted on the supply side; wall-mounted splits produce a strong pocket and a thin far end. An older, leakier building loses fragrance continuously; a new sealed one holds it. Fabric-heavy receptions take up scent and give it back slowly. Any one of these can move a branch further than the weather does.

The SOSA principle
A signature fragrance crosses cities perfectly well. The setting does not cross the street, because it belongs to a building rather than to a brand.
If you find yourself choosing a different scent for a different city, what you are actually doing is dissolving the signature you spent money creating.
SOSA Vaayu
The same machine in all four cities: SOSA Vaayu, waterless cold-air, rated to 1000m³, with adjustable intensity set separately per building. ₹11,999.

The plan, city by city

Here is what changes when you cross the country and what deliberately does not, which is most of it.

The SOSA plan
One fragrance, four cities - what varies and what is fixed
The variable What to do
SOSA VaayuHumidity and season
Varies. Humid air reads heavier, so coastal branches usually sit a step lower and get re-checked when the season turns.
Very dry conditioned air
Varies. A clean profile reads thin, which is when levels get pushed up. Record the setting and lock it rather than adjusting on instinct.
AC type and ceiling height
Varies, and usually matters more than the city. Ducted, cassette or split, and the height above your head, decide both position and level.
Building age and sealing
Varies. An older leakier building loses fragrance continuously; a new sealed one holds it and needs less.
SOSA SukoonThe fragrance profile
Fixed. One clean, dry, cool register in every city, chosen once, with no local favourites and no second fragrance anywhere.
The exclusions
Fixed. Procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms unscented in all four cities. Not lightly scented, and never negotiated locally.

The procedure that keeps four cities in line is written out in how to standardise ambient fragrance across a multi-city chain, and it is one page per branch rather than a platform. If the underlying worry is that the branches are of different sizes and run different air-conditioning, that is answered directly in keeping fragrance consistent across clinics with different sizes and AC systems. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel.

Nobody has ever walked into a clinic in Hyderabad and thought the fragrance should have been chosen for the local weather. They notice the level, and only when it is wrong.

The SOSA hair-clinic specification

Two machines cover every branch in every city, and the split between them is decided by each site's own floor area rather than by where it is. Both are dry enough to sit on the public side of a building that does surgical work. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Keep one profile across every city and set the intensity in every building separately, then record it. In a monsoon month, a musty branch is a moisture and ventilation problem for your facilities team - fragrance here works alongside cleaning and ventilation, never instead of them, and is never used to cover another smell. It is an interior decision with no clinical or therapeutic claim of any kind, and procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms stay unscented at every site. Bulk pricing, corporate invoicing, maintenance and multi-city delivery terms are not published by SOSA and should be confirmed before ordering. A note from Sonal

This question usually arrives from a founder about to open a third or fourth city, and underneath it is a reasonable worry: will the scent I chose in one city still work in another. It will. The register a hair clinic wants comes from what the building does - surgery, consultations, people who are anxious about being looked at - and none of that changes when you cross a state border. If anything, a group's fragrance is the cheapest form of consistency it owns, and I would defend it against localisation as firmly as I would defend the logo.

The real difference is in the air rather than the oil. Humid coastal air carries a profile more heavily and holds it; very dry conditioned air makes a light citrus disappear by mid-morning, which is exactly when somebody turns it up and forgets to turn it back down. Then the building itself - ceiling height, ducted or split air conditioning, how tight the envelope is, how much fabric is in the reception - usually outweighs the weather entirely. Four cities is four buildings, and each one gets its own number.

On hardware: one Vaayu at ₹11,999 per site past about 1,500 sq ft, and I would particularly want the waterless part on the coast, because nothing should be adding moisture to a reception in July. Under 750 sq ft, a Sukoon at ₹1,899, in any city. The rooms where you operate get nothing at all in all four. Multi-site and corporate terms are not published, so ask us rather than assuming, and nobody can promise you that a consistent fragrance moves a number in the group. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use one signature fragrance across Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad clinics?
Yes, and you should. The register a hair clinic wants - clean, dry and cool, such as white tea, a dry light citrus or soft woods - is chosen because of what happens inside the building rather than the weather outside it, and that does not change by city. What does not travel is the intensity setting. Humidity, ceiling height, air-conditioning type and building age all change how the same oil reads, so each branch is set separately.
Does humidity change how the fragrance behaves?
It changes how it reads, not what it is. Humid coastal air tends to carry a profile more heavily and hold it longer, so a branch that read as barely-there in a dry month can read as present in monsoon and usually sits a step lower. Very dry conditioned air does the reverse, making a light profile seem thin by mid-morning, which is the moment people turn it up and forget to bring it back down.
My Mumbai branch smells musty in monsoon - should I raise the fragrance?
No. That is a moisture, drainage or ventilation matter for your facilities team and your cleaning contract, and it should be traced and fixed at source. Fragrance is never used to cover another smell, and raising the level over a musty room gives you two smells rather than one. Once the building is genuinely neutral again, put the setting back where the branch sheet says it should be.
Should each city get its own machine model?
No. The machine follows each branch's own floor area and air path, not its city. Past roughly 1,500 sq ft it is one SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 per site; where a branch's patient-facing side is a single reception under about 750 sq ft it is one SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,899. The Vaayu being waterless is genuinely useful in a humid coastal city, because it adds no moisture to the reception.
How often should the settings be re-checked across cities?
Once a quarter as a standing rule, and additionally when the season turns in a city with a strong monsoon or a very dry winter. The check is a person walking in from outside, unannounced, comparing what they meet at the door against the recorded setting on that branch's sheet. Levels drift upward over months rather than downward, so the audit is mostly about bringing them back down.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.

Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with adjustable intensity, a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, operation under 38dB at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification, which are electrical and compliance marks and not medical approvals. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is an ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft and is supplied with three 15ml fragrances; the water-based Hotel Collection (₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799) is an ultrasonic fragrance and is not a refill for a waterless cold-air machine. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with 50ml lasting about 6-8 weeks and 130ml about 14-18 weeks. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml included and further refills should be confirmed with SOSA. Warranty, annual maintenance, installation and bulk terms are not published and should be confirmed before ordering. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and infection control and is never a substitute for any of them, it is never used to mask another smell, and no claim is made that fragrance influences a patient's decision or any commercial outcome. Clinical areas including procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms are left unscented, and the treating clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan in their own room. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference. Coverage, fragrance usage and running cost depend on the space, settings and hours of use, and are confirmed on a consultation.
