Dry the cabin - this is the whole fix
Pull the mats and dry them fully. Check the carpet underneath is not wet - press a paper towel into it. Do not leave the car shut up and damp; park where it can dry, open it on a dry spell, and use the heater or fan to drive moisture out. Mildew cannot grow in a dry cabin. This single step solves most monsoon mildew.

Clean the mats and surfaces
