Two things decide this, and only the second one is a shopping question. The first is the cooking itself. Frying does not simply release a smell into the air. Hot oil breaks up into an aerosol - microscopic droplets of cooking fat, carried up on the steam and the convection current rising off the pan - and those droplets travel wherever the air travels. In an open-plan home the air travels straight into the living room, because there is nothing in the way. The droplets are far too small to see and far too light to fall like crumbs, so they drift until they meet something cool or something soft, and then they stay there. Curtains, sofa fabric, cushion covers, throws, rugs, dining chair upholstery, and a thin invisible film on walls, ceilings and cabinet fronts. That film is the entire story. By the time you sit down after dinner the air itself has largely cleared, and the smell is still in the room because it is no longer in the air at all. It is on the textiles, re-releasing slowly for hours. In a large open plan this is worse rather than better, because a bigger connected volume gives the aerosol further to travel and more fabric to settle on before anything captures it. Length times width times height, per connected volume
Large homes are built tall, and floor-area rules of thumb collapse the moment a ceiling goes past ten feet. A 2,000 sq ft living volume at twenty feet holds roughly the same air as 4,000 sq ft at ten. So work in cubic metres: measure each connected space, multiply length by width by height, and divide by 1000, which is the Vaayu's rating and roughly 2,000-3,000 sq ft at a normal ceiling height. Round the result down and then check the far corner of the space by nose rather than by arithmetic. If a single volume comes out well above one, do not buy two small machines for it - a single volume wants a single machine, and that is where the Angaan and its 3,000m³ rating belongs.

Two spaces on the same floor plan can be two problems if the air between them does not mix. A large open ground floor where kitchen, dining and living share one volume and one air-conditioning loop is one machine. A bedroom floor upstairs on its own splits is a second. A guest wing behind a closed door, a home theatre, a separately conditioned annexe: each is its own volume, whatever the drawing suggests. In a villa on central HVAC the cleanest answer is often to stop counting rooms altogether and put an Angaan on the duct, which carries the fragrance on airflow that already reaches every room. Whatever the count, use the same fragrance in every machine and vary only the intensity - a house where each floor smells different reads as a set of rooms rather than a home.

The thing that makes a large open-plan home different is that the cooking happens inside the same body of air you are trying to keep pleasant, and that body of air is big. A bigger volume means the oil aerosol travels further before anything captures it, reaches more curtains and more upholstery, and takes longer to clear. So in a villa the extraction specification matters more than the fragrance specification: a properly sized ducted chimney that vents outside, run from before the pan heats until 15 to 20 minutes after, plus a window on the far side of the kitchen and the living fans off while the hob is on. If the kitchen is genuinely enormous, consider a second extraction point over a secondary hob or a tandoor. No machine on this page substitutes for any of that.

The most common mistake in a large home is buying a machine per room. It is an understandable instinct and it produces a house that smells like four different rooms, which is precisely the opposite of the intended effect. What makes a big house feel composed is one fragrance, everywhere, at a level nobody comments on, and that usually means fewer machines placed better.
So I size by cubic metres. Length times width times height for each connected volume, divided by a thousand, which is what one Vaayu covers. Most large open ground floors come out at one machine on the main air path. A bedroom floor is a second, on the same oil, a step softer. And when a living volume is genuinely double height, or a villa is running eight to ten thousand square feet on one air handling system, I stop stacking small machines and put an Angaan on the HVAC, because carrying scent on airflow the house already has is a far better answer than four units fighting each other.
