The entrance is the one spot in the store where a customer forms a verdict before a single price tag is read. Place the diffuser just inside the threshold, at head height, angled into the room and slightly upstream of the incoming draught - so the scent greets the customer instead of chasing them.
Quick answers — read this first
Exactly where at the entrance? About one to two metres inside the door, off to one side, released around head height and aimed into the shop. A SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) there sets the first impression for the whole floor.

Should it face outward or inward? Inward, always. You are scenting the room the customer is walking into, not the street. Facing it outward wastes fragrance on the pavement and gives an inconsistent hit at the door.

What if the door is always open? A constantly open door means a strong inward draught - place the unit slightly further in and let that draught carry the scent. A waterless Vaayu handles the airflow far better than a small water-based unit that gets blown out.
The short answer
Short answer: Place the entrance diffuser one to two metres inside the door, off to one side at head height, angled into the shop and slightly upstream of the incoming draught - a waterless SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) holds the threshold best.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for showrooms - waterless, so it adds no humidity near your stock, with app scheduling that maps to trading hours. Small stores from ₹1,799; ducted showrooms from ₹25,999.

Straight answer
Where is the best place to put a diffuser at an electronics store entrance?
1. Step one to two metres in. Right at the door the air is too turbulent to hold a signature. A pace or two inside, the room settles and the scent registers cleanly.

2. Go off to one side. Keep the unit out of the direct doorway flow so it is not blown straight out, and out of the customer's physical path.

3. Release at head height. Wall-mount or stand the unit around one-and-a-half to two metres up so the plume meets the customer where they breathe.

4. Angle it into the room. Aim across the floor, not at the door, so you are building the room's atmosphere rather than perfuming the pavement.

5. Read the draught first. Whichever way air moves through the door, sit slightly upstream of it and let that current carry the signature inward.

One line: set a waterless SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) a pace or two inside the door, head height, angled into the room - the entrance is the one placement you cannot afford to get wrong.

Why the threshold is the placement that matters most

1
THE FIRST VERDICT
You are scented before you are sold to
Vaayu - scheduled Vaayu · scheduled₹11,999 A customer walking in off a hot, loud Indian high street makes a snap judgement in the first few seconds - is this a serious place or a cheap one? Scent lands faster than signage because it bypasses the reading brain entirely. A composed, clean signature at the threshold tells the customer, before a salesperson opens their mouth, that the ₹80,000 purchase they are considering deserves their time. That is why the entrance gets your best unit, not your spare one.
Tip: If the entrance smells of the street, every price after it feels like a street price.
2
TURBULENCE
Right at the door is dead air for scent
Vaayu - scheduled Vaayu · scheduled₹11,999 The doorway itself is the worst spot in the store for a diffuser. Air rushes and swirls there every time someone enters, so any signature is torn apart before it can settle. Step a metre or two inside and the turbulence drops to a steady, usable draught. That small setback is the difference between a scent a customer notices and one that vanishes the instant the door swings. Placement here is measured in paces, and the paces matter.
Tip: Test on a busy afternoon, not an empty morning - that is when the door is really working.
3
WATERLESS AT THE DOOR
No mist to blow away or settle on glass
Vaayu - scheduled Vaayu · scheduled₹11,999 Entrances often sit right beside a glass display window full of premium phones or cameras. A water-based mist near that glass can fog or leave a faint residue over time, and the door draught scatters it unpredictably. A waterless nebuliser like the Vaayu releases dry scent only - nothing to settle on the glass, nothing to blow onto the stock behind it. For the busiest, draughtiest, most stock-adjacent spot in the shop, waterless is simply the professional choice.
Tip: Keep the unit clear of the window display itself - scent near it, not on it.

The guide's hero system SOSA Vaayu · Waterless Cold-Air Machine ₹11,999 Up to 1000m³ from one unit, Bluetooth app with 1/4/8/24h run windows, under 38 dB, and no water - so nothing is adding humidity to a showroom full of stock. Freestanding or wall-mounted. View this system →

Working with the door draught, not against it

Every entrance has a personality. A door onto a busy road with an air-curtain has a strong, constant inward push; a quiet door in a mall has almost none. Before placing the unit, stand inside on a normal trading day and feel which way the air actually travels. If it flows inward, sit the diffuser slightly upstream so the draught carries your signature onto the floor for free. If the entrance has an air-curtain blowing downward, keep the unit well clear of its throw, or the curtain will shred the scent and push it back out the door.

The other common trap is the split-AC unit mounted just inside many Indian shopfronts. If it sits right above the entrance, its airflow will either help you or fight you depending on where you place the diffuser relative to it. Position the unit so the AC's flow moves your scent into the room, never toward the door or across the front window's stock. When in doubt, a waterless machine gives you the most freedom here, because you never have to worry about mist landing where it should not.

Entrance placement, mapped

The greeting zone is a narrow band a pace or two inside the door - not the doorway itself.

The SOSA principle
The entrance is the only placement in the store that a customer experiences before they have decided to trust you.
Every other zone reinforces an impression. The threshold creates it - which is why it earns the store's best-placed unit.

The SOSA commercial edit

Whichever kind of electronics business you run, the system logic is the same: one signature, sized to the space, scheduled so it never depends on a staff member's memory, and waterless wherever it runs near stock. The Hotel Collection blends - SOSA's own interpretations of the world's finest hotel scents - run across the range, and everything is supported from Pune. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Honest notes for store owners: ambient scenting's effects on dwell time, perceived quality and recall are real but moderate - they compound a well-run store and rescue nothing; premises must be clean and well-ventilated first, because fragrance crowns good air and never substitutes for it. Ultrasonic systems (Boond, Sukoon) add a small amount of humidity and run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance; the Vaayu and the HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil - near open equipment and in humid coastal cities, prefer waterless. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

For large-format showrooms SOSA Aangan · HVAC Nebulising Diffuser ₹25,999 Sits beside your air-handling unit and carries one signature through every zone the ducting serves - up to 3,000m³. For a showroom with an entrance, a display floor, demo zones and billing, it means one refill point instead of six, and no visible machines on the floor. View this system →

Frequently asked questions

Should I put the diffuser outside to draw people in?
No. Outdoor air disperses scent instantly and you have no control over it - it is fragrance thrown away. Scent the room a customer enters, not the pavement they pass. The value is entirely in the contrast between the street and the interior.
My entrance is also my only display space. Where does the unit go?
Tuck it to one side at head height and aim it across the floor, keeping it clear of the front-window stock. A wall-mounted Vaayu takes no floor space and keeps the scent above the display.
Will an air-curtain over the door ruin the effect?
Only if you place the unit in its throw. Set the diffuser a metre or two past the curtain, on the room side, and the curtain actually helps by pushing the settled scent inward. A waterless Vaayu copes with the airflow far better than a light ultrasonic mist.
How strong should the entrance scent be?
Present, never announced. A customer should feel the room is composed, not smell a specific fragrance at the door. Schedule the Vaayu to run through trading hours at a moderate setting rather than blasting it - restraint reads as premium.
Can a small ultrasonic diffuser handle a busy entrance?
For a compact single-door shop, a Sukoon (₹1,799) placed away from the direct draught can work. For anything with real footfall or an open door onto a road, the airflow will overwhelm a small water-based unit - step up to the waterless Vaayu.
Own the threshold
Make the door the moment the sale quietly begins - with the Vaayu a pace inside.
Waterless, draught-proof, app-scheduled to open before your doors do. The one unit your entrance deserves.

Editorial standards & sources
About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA commercial range; the scent-marketing strategy advice applies to any brand's systems.

Facts verified August 2026: Ambient scent research consistently associates pleasant, congruent scenting with longer dwell time, improved venue evaluations and stronger brand recall at moderate effect sizes; congruence and gentle intensity outperform strong scenting in replicated studies, and no scent effect survives unclean or poorly ventilated premises. Olfactory memory is unusually durable, which is the mechanism behind signature retail scents. The principal risk to electronic equipment from diffusion is added moisture and residue rather than fragrance itself, which is the basis of this range's waterless recommendation. SOSA systems: Boond 300ml (₹799) and Sukoon 500ml (₹1,799) ultrasonic units run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance (from ₹299; refills 100ml ₹999); SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebulising machine, up to 1000m³, 400ml tank, Bluetooth app and 1/4/8/24h timers, under 38 dB; SOSA Aangan (₹25,999) is an HVAC nebulising system covering up to 3,000m³ (roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft). The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
