A car is the smallest space any of us scents, and the one we sit closest to. Two or three cubic metres of air, a metre from your face, with the windows up and the heater on for four months of the year. I say this to customers constantly and it still surprises people: almost every car fragrance problem I am sent is a dose problem, not a scent problem. The bottle is not weak and the oil is not wrong. The cabin simply gives fragrance nowhere to go, and winter takes away the little ventilation that was rescuing you in October.
That is why we sell the hanging bottle and the spray at the same price. They are the same oil. One gives you a mild level that is always there and asks nothing of you; the other gives you a strong level the moment you decide you want one. Neither is the better product, and pricing them differently would only push people toward whichever we wanted to sell. Choose by how you drive: a long daily commute is a hanging car, a car that matters most when somebody else gets into it is a spray car, and plenty of people quite sensibly run both.

Does an expensive car need an expensive car fragrance?
No, and it is worth saying plainly because a great deal of marketing depends on you assuming otherwise. Fragrance in a car behaves according to cabin volume, temperature, air exchange and how long you sit in it, and none of those change with the price of the vehicle. If anything the expensive end argues for less: a better-sealed cabin exchanges less air with the outside, so what is released accumulates rather than clearing, and a quieter interior means a given level registers more. Should I use the fragrance that came with the car or was offered by the dealer?
Use it if you like it, but treat the two purchases as separate. An accessory added at the point of sale is a bundled item chosen for you at a moment when almost nobody says no; a fragrance you will live with for months is a taste decision that needs your own nose and your own cabin. There is also a practical reason to wait: a new car is still off-gassing from adhesives, plastics, foams and leather treatments, and anything added early is being judged against a baseline that is still changing. Air the car for a few weeks, then choose. Will a car fragrance damage a new leather or Alcantara-style interior?
Follow SOSA's own instructions and the question does not arise. The hanging bottle should not be in direct contact with leather, fabric or the dashboard, and nothing should ever be sprayed directly onto upholstery, leather, dashboard plastics or the windscreen - spray into the air of the cabin, low and away from surfaces, and never while driving. How long should I wait before putting any fragrance in a brand new car?
There is no fixed number and anyone who gives you one is guessing, but a few weeks of airing and normal driving is sensible, and the reasoning is straightforward.
