What buyers ask us about hotel and spa scents
Including the questions where the answer is "we do not make that" and "you cannot put that on your skin"
"I want to smell like a luxury hotel lobby. What do I buy?"
Usually a clean white musk with soft woods. In our range that is Adaa. What we will not do is tell you it reproduces any particular hotel, because it does not and we have no authorisation to try.
Hotel-inspired scent · answered by Sonal Sahani
"Can I wear my reed diffuser oil as a perfume?"
No. Reed oil is assessed for evaporation from a reed in a room, not for leave-on skin application. They are different use cases with different exposure, and we will not sell you one as the other.
Home against skin · answered by Sonal Sahani
"You make a lavender reed diffuser. Do you make a lavender attar?"
No. Evening Calm is Himalayan lavender and chamomile for a room. We do not make a lavender attar, and rather than steer you to something that is not lavender, we will tell you that plainly.
What we do not make · answered by Sonal Sahani
"I want white tea and clean hotel linen on my skin."
We do not make that as an attar. Adaa is the closest thing we have, and it is citrus and jasmine sambac over white musk rather than a linen accord. If linen is the point, we are not your brand for it.
Clean linen · answered by Sonal Sahani
"Which hotel is the Hotel Collection based on?"
It is our own interpretation of a style of hospitality scenting. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel group, and it is an ultrasonic diffuser fragrance for rooms rather than a skin product.
Independence · answered by Sonal Sahani
"Will it last all day like my spray?"
We do not publish hour figures for any fragrance, because how long one seems to last depends on your skin, the weather and how quickly you stop noticing it. An oil-carried attar sits close rather than projecting.

Apply them in the order that eliminates fastest, which is not the order you listed. Quick answers — read this first
What order should I use? Floral tolerance first, because it eliminates whole products. Then woody intensity, then how clean you want it, then the specific memory, then budget. Budget last, because within a single range it decides the size rather than the product.

Why does floral tolerance come first? Because it is binary in effect. Someone who dislikes a nameable floral has ruled out a full-weight floral composition entirely, which removes products rather than shading a preference.

What does this point to in the SOSA range? Adaa at Rs 379 for low floral tolerance and high cleanliness. Nawaab at Rs 399 for high woody intensity. Ameeri at Rs 385 for moderate florals inside warmth. Mastani at Rs 389 only if you want florals at full weight.
The short answer
Short answer: Apply floral tolerance first because it eliminates whole products, then woody intensity, then cleanliness, then the specific memory, then budget. For SOSA: Adaa Rs 379 for clean and low-floral, Nawaab Rs 399 for woody, Ameeri Rs 385 for moderate floral warmth, Mastani Rs 389 for full florals.
The honest limit: no fragrance we sell reproduces any hotel, spa, resort or retail brand's proprietary scent, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any of them. Where we do not make a family, we say so rather than recommending something adjacent.
Home is not skin: reed diffuser oil and the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance are assessed for room use and are not assessed or sold for application to skin. Attars and solid perfumes are the skin products.
Where a hotel-style scent actually lives - and what it is assessed forUltrasonic mist diffuser - water-based Hotel Collection fragrance, room useReed diffuser - its own alcohol-free reed oil, room useAttar or solid perfume - assessed for leave-on skinThe three do not interchangeA scent family can cross between them. A formulation cannot, because the exposure is different.
You can carry a scent family from a room to your skin. You cannot carry a formulation, because a product assessed for evaporating in a room has not been assessed for sitting on you. That distinction is the whole of this guide.
Straight answer
How do I turn five preferences into one shortlist?
Order them by how much they eliminate. One: floral tolerance. This goes first because it is effectively binary. If you do not want anybody to be able to name a flower on you, a full-weight floral composition is out entirely, which removes products rather than shading a preference. Two: woody intensity. Creamy, dry, resinous or none, and the difference between creamy and resinous is larger than most descriptions suggest. Three: cleanliness. How much of the effect should be the musk, as against the wood or the floral? High cleanliness means musk-dominant. Four: the specific memory. Lobby, suite, spa or boutique, which mostly adjusts the balance rather than changing the family. Five: budget, last, because within our range the four attars sit within ₹20 of each other at 3ml, so budget decides the size rather than the product. Where that lands: low floral tolerance plus high cleanliness goes to Adaa at ₹379. High woody intensity goes to Nawaab at ₹399. Moderate floral inside warmth goes to Ameeri at ₹385. Full-weight floral goes to Mastani at ₹389. +91 96192 18531.
Floral tolerance first, because it removes products. Budget last, because within one range it only picks the size.
If the brief is clean, quiet and expensive-feeling, the honest starting point in our range is Adaa at ₹379 for 3ml. If it is polished woods, Nawaab at ₹399.

Five filters, in the order that eliminates fastest

The ordering principle is worth stating because it generalises well beyond this bank: apply the filter that eliminates whole options before the filter that shades a preference. Floral tolerance eliminates. Budget, within a single brand's range, almost never does, because prices cluster. People instinctively do the reverse, setting a budget first and then browsing, which feels responsible and achieves almost nothing in a range where four products sit within twenty rupees of each other at the smallest size. The second thing worth saying is about the fourth filter, the specific memory, because it is the one that feels most important and does the least work. Lobby, suite, spa and boutique all sit in the same broad family: clean musk, soft woods, transparent florals, no sweetness. What changes between them is emphasis. A lobby is the most abstract. A prepared suite leans towards the laundered-textile end. A spa adds herbal or green material and often lavender, which we do not make as a skin fragrance. A boutique leans slightly warmer and sometimes towards leather. So naming the memory is useful for fine-tuning and is not a different decision. That is good news, because it means a customer who cannot decide between lobby and suite is not actually stuck; they are choosing between two emphases of one answer, and either purchase will be close. Where it stops being fine-tuning is the spa case, because lavender and vetiver are genuine families rather than emphases, and if those are the heart of the memory then our range does not contain them and a different brand will serve you better.

Eliminating filters before shading ones
Floral tolerance first, budget last
Apply the filter that removes whole options before the one that shades a preference. Floral tolerance removes products. Budget, within a single range, almost never does, because prices cluster: our four attars sit within ₹20 of each other at 3ml. People instinctively do the reverse, which feels responsible and achieves little.
Tip: Budget becomes decisive across brands rather than within one. Inside a range it mostly chooses the size.
2
The memory is an emphasis, not a family
Lobby, suite and boutique are one answer tuned differently
All three sit in the same family: clean musk, soft woods, transparent florals, no sweetness. A lobby is most abstract, a prepared suite leans towards laundered textile, a boutique leans slightly warmer. So if you cannot decide between them you are not stuck, you are choosing between emphases of one answer and either purchase will be close.
3
Except the spa case, which is a real family
Lavender and vetiver are not emphases
A spa memory usually involves lavender, vetiver or herbal green material, and those are genuine families rather than adjustments to the hotel one. We do not make any of them as a skin fragrance. So if a spa is the heart of your memory rather than a lobby, our range does not contain the answer and a different brand will serve you better.
Tip: Lavender exists in our Evening Calm reed diffuser for rooms and is not assessed for skin.
The SOSA principle
Lobby, suite and boutique are one answer tuned three ways. Spa is a different family altogether, and that is the one distinction in this cluster that actually changes what you should buy.
Which is why somebody torn between a lobby and a suite is not stuck, and somebody who meant a spa may need a different brand.

What the sorted version points to

The shortlist, with the caveats attached. Low floral tolerance, high cleanliness, any budget: Adaa 3ml at ₹379, and ask us for the allergen list if you have ever reacted to a fragrance. High woody intensity, moderate cleanliness: Nawaab 3ml at ₹399, accepting oud and saffron. Moderate floral, warm, festive: Ameeri 3ml at ₹385. Full floral: Mastani 3ml at ₹389. If you cannot decide: the trio at ₹1,055 gives three 3ml bottles for ₹118 less than buying them separately, though note it contains Mastani rather than Adaa, so it is not the clean-brief package.

The SOSA scent edit
Five filters, and where each combination lands
Scent Why it suits the mood
Low floral · high clean Adaa 3ml ₹379. Bergamot and green cardamom over transparent jasmine sambac and a white musk accord
High woody · moderate clean Nawaab 3ml ₹399. Mysore sandalwood with white royal oud and Kashmir saffron. Declarative rather than quiet
Moderate floral · warm Ameeri 3ml ₹385. Taif rose inside Indian sandalwood, saffron and soft oudh. The festive reading of the brief
Spa memory · lavender or vetiver Not in our skin range at all. Lavender is in Evening Calm for rooms, not assessed for skin. A different brand will serve you better

What SOSA actually makes

Every SOSA attar and solid perfume is alcohol-free and assessed for leave-on skin application. Our reed diffusers and the Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance are home products and are not assessed for skin. Here is the range with the honest description of each, including the families we do not make at all.

What we actually make, and what each one is for
One genuinely clean attar, two woody ones, two musk-based solids, and a room fragrance that is not for skin
Product Where it sits What it is, honestly From
Adaa attar 3ml The clean one · closest to a hotel lobby Bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac and a white musk accord. The only genuinely clean, airy composition in our attar range, and the honest answer to most hotel-inspired requests ₹379
Nawaab attar 3ml Polished woods · expensive interiors White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron. For wooden-interior and quiet-luxury requests rather than clean-linen ones ₹399
Ameeri attar 3ml Warm sandalwood · heritage hospitality Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, saffron and soft oudh. Rose inside a warm resinous structure, closest to a grand Indian hotel atmosphere ₹385
Velour solid 15g White musk base · skin-close Toasted almond and whipped cream over a white musk base. Soft and skin-close, and sweeter than a hotel-clean scent, which we would rather say than imply ₹479
Sterling solid 15g Powdered musk · refined Almond nougat and white amber over powdered musk. Refined and velvety, and genuinely powdery, so not for anyone who has told us they dislike powder ₹469
Hotel Collection 15ml Rooms only · never skin Water-based fragrance for ultrasonic mist diffusers. Our own interpretation of hospitality scenting, for air rather than for people ₹299

Attars come in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml: Adaa ₹379 / ₹669 / ₹1,149; Ameeri ₹385 / ₹679 / ₹1,165; Mastani ₹389 / ₹685 / ₹1,179; Nawaab ₹399 / ₹699 / ₹1,199; the three-attar trio ₹1,055 / ₹1,859 / ₹3,189 against ₹1,173 / ₹2,063 / ₹3,543 bought singly. Solid body perfumes are 15g, alcohol-free, from ₹459. What we do not make as a skin fragrance: white tea, clean linen or cotton musk, lavender, vetiver, cedarwood, aquatic or marine, and pine. Several of those exist in our home range and are not assessed for skin. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

"I want to smell like a five-star hotel" is one of my favourite things a customer can say, because it tells me far more than a note list would. It tells me you want clean rather than sweet, quiet rather than loud, and expensive-feeling rather than obviously perfumed. That is a brief I can work with.

It also comes with two things I have to be straight with you about. The first is that I cannot sell you a hotel's scent. Those are proprietary compositions made for specific groups, and anybody offering you a reproduction is either guessing or doing something they should not. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel group. What I can do is work in the same fragrance families and say so honestly.

The second is harder on my own sales. Our home fragrances are not for your skin. Reed oil is assessed for evaporating from a reed in a room. The Hotel Collection is a water-based fragrance for an ultrasonic mist diffuser. Neither has been assessed for leave-on application to a person, and the exposure is completely different. I will not sell you one as the other, however much you like how it smells in your hallway.

And there are things we simply do not make. No lavender attar. No vetiver attar. No white tea, no clean linen, no cedarwood, no aquatic. Several of those scents live in our reed diffusers and stay there. If that is what you came for, I would rather tell you than sell you something adjacent and hope you do not notice. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

What order should I apply the five filters in?
Floral tolerance first, because it eliminates whole products rather than shading a preference. Then woody intensity, then how clean you want it, then the specific hotel memory, and budget last, since within one range four attars sit within Rs 20 of each other at 3ml.
Why does floral tolerance come first?
Because it is effectively binary. If you do not want anybody to be able to name a flower on you, a full-weight floral composition is out entirely. That removes products from the list, which is what an efficient first filter should do.
Does the specific hotel memory change what I should buy?
Mostly it adjusts the emphasis rather than the family. Lobby, suite and boutique all sit in clean musk with soft woods and transparent florals; a lobby is most abstract and a suite leans towards laundered textile. Either purchase will be close.
When does the memory genuinely change the answer?
When it is a spa. A spa memory usually involves lavender, vetiver or herbal green material, and those are genuine families rather than emphases. SOSA does not make any of them as a skin fragrance, so a different brand will serve you better.
What does each combination point to in the SOSA range?
Low floral and high cleanliness goes to Adaa at Rs 379. High woody intensity goes to Nawaab at Rs 399. Moderate floral inside warmth goes to Ameeri at Rs 385. Full-weight floral goes to Mastani at Rs 389.

Formulation and use: SOSA attars are formulated with an oil carrier and no added ethanol, contain no intentionally added DEP, and are assessed as leave-on fine fragrance applied to skin at their actual selling concentration. Supplier IFRA conformity statements, declarable-allergen lists and the finished-product safety assessment are available per product on WhatsApp on +91 96192 18531; formula compositions and percentages are not disclosed. Reed diffuser oil and the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance are assessed for room use and are not assessed or sold for application to skin. SOSA does not describe its products as chemical-free, hypoallergenic or safe for everyone, publishes no longevity or hour figures, and makes no claim to reproduce any hotel, spa, resort or retail brand's proprietary fragrance. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel, hospitality or fashion group. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live collection pages.

General context: Fragrance safety standards set limits by product use category, so a composition assessed for diffusion in a room has not thereby been assessed for leave-on skin exposure.
