There is a clean way to answer this and it is not a price comparison. Five variables settle it, the first three describe the building and the last two describe the household, and where the two disagree the household wins. That ordering is the only thing on this page that is unusual - most of the arithmetic is published and the rest is a ten-minute walk with the doors in their normal positions. What follows is each variable, what it decides, what the honest thresholds are, and the several places where SOSA publishes nothing and the answer is a conversation rather than a number.
SOSA Vaayu waterless cold-air scent machine, Rs 11,999
SOSA Vaayu · up to 1000 m3 of connected air · ₹11,999 ₹11,999 →
The machine end of a five-variable decision. SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 - waterless cold-air diffusion producing a dry residue-free mist, published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour windows on chosen days, adjustable intensity, auto-stop, key-lock and operation under 38 dB. Four 100 ml fragrances included.
Quick answers — read this first
How do I choose between reed diffusers and a scent machine for a large new house? By connected volume rather than total area. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, assuming one connected body of air. If the house is a set of closed rooms it is not one volume, and the honest answer is reeds from ₹749 or a duo set at ₹1,498 to ₹2,598, room by room.

Does ceiling height change the answer? It changes the arithmetic, and SOSA publishes nothing about how. The coverage figure is cubic, and the square-foot line beside it is a translation that assumes an ordinary ceiling. A double-height hall carries far more air above the same floor plate, so it is a different sum. Take that one to WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 rather than working it out from a page.

Which variable do buyers weigh least? Who will operate it. A scheduled machine is only better than a passive bottle in the hands of somebody who sets a schedule. If nobody in the house will open an app or press a button, a reed diffuser is the better gift and costs a fifteenth as much.
The short answer
Short answer: Work through five things in order: connected volume, separation, ceiling height, hosting pattern, and who will operate it. Reeds from Rs 749 and duo sets at Rs 1,498 to Rs 2,598 answer a house of closed rooms. SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 answers one connected volume of up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. The last variable outranks the rest.
The pick: A SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 when the house is one connected volume and somebody will set it - otherwise reeds from ₹749 or a duo set at ₹1,498 to ₹2,598, room by room.
Why: Because coverage is a statement about joined air rather than floor area, and because a schedule is worth nothing in a household that will never set one. Those two facts settle most of these decisions on their own.
Sending something when somebody is having a hard time - at a glanceKeep it small - candle ₹399, attar ₹379, car scent ₹449For their home - reed diffuser ₹749, nothing to switch onSay the words yourself - no card goes in the parcelNever - a parcel instead of turning up
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
Straight answer
For a newly completed large home, should I give a reed diffuser combination or a machine? Walk me through square footage, separation, ceiling height, hosting and control.
Five variables, in this order. One, connected volume rather than total area. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is published for up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, and that assumes one connected body of air. Count the openings with no door in them; that is the volume. Two, separation. A house of closed rooms is not one volume, it is N rooms, and the answer there is reeds from ₹749 or a duo set at ₹1,498 to ₹2,598, room by room. Three, ceiling height. The published figure is cubic and the square-foot line is a translation that assumes an ordinary ceiling; SOSA publishes nothing about how a double-height space changes that arithmetic, so that question goes to WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. Four, the hosting pattern. Vaayu runs in 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour windows on chosen days with adjustable intensity, from a Bluetooth app or onboard buttons, against a reed, which is passive, runs about 6 to 10 weeks and works whether or not anybody is in the building. Five, who operates it - the most under-weighted variable of the five. If nobody will ever open the app or press a button, a passive bottle is the better gift, plainly. The machine itself is waterless cold-air diffusion, a dry residue-free mist with no water and no heat, a 400ml refillable tank, under 38 dB, DC 12V / 1A at 5W, 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, auto-stop and key-lock, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, made in India, and it ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances of 100 ml each. Fragrance adds a scent: it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify one, and it does not clean the air. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Three of the five are about the building and two are about the household. Where they disagree, the household wins, because a schedule nobody sets is worth nothing at any price.
The machine end of this decision: Vaayu at ₹11,999 - up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, 1, 4, 8 and 24-hour windows, adjustable intensity, under 38 dB, four 100 ml fragrances in the box.

The five variables, in the order that actually decides it

Take them in this sequence. Variables one to three are read off the building; four and five are read off the people, and they are the ones that overturn the first three.

1
Variables one and two
Connected volume, then separation - and only one of them is on the drawing
Variable one is connected volume, not total area. Vaayu publishes a figure almost nothing else in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. The sentence that makes it usable is the one people skip. It assumes one connected body of air. So the measurement that matters is not what the builder quoted. It is what you get by walking from the front door and counting the openings that have no door in them, because air on both sides of a doorless opening is one body.

Variable two is separation, and it is the one that overturns the brochure. A house of closed rooms is not one volume. It is N rooms, and no coverage figure transfers to it, whatever the total area says on paper. This is the single most useful honest sentence in this whole decision, because it is the case where the cheaper answer is also the correct one. Reed diffusers from ₹749 in 50 ml and ₹1,249 in 130 ml, or a duo set at ₹1,498 to ₹2,598, handle rooms one at a time, run about 6 to 10 weeks and ask nothing of anybody.

Most large new houses turn out to be both at once: one substantial joined volume across the entrance, living and dining, plus five or six separate volumes behind doors. That is not a problem to be solved with one purchase. It is two purchases with two different jobs, and recognising it early saves buying the wrong single thing.
Tip: Count the openings with no door in them. That number, not the built-up area, is the specification.
2
Variable three
Ceiling height, and the one place the arithmetic runs out
The published figure is cubic. It is a volume: up to 1000 m3. The square-foot line printed beside it is a translation of that volume into floor area, and a translation like that has to assume something about height - specifically, an ordinary ceiling.

That assumption holds across most of a normal house and breaks in exactly the rooms a large new home is proud of. A double-height hall, a living area open to a mezzanine, a stair void running up two levels: those are the same floor plate carrying far more air above it, so the same floor area is a different sum. This is not a fault in the product. It is what happens whenever a cubic rating is presented as an area.

And here is where this page stops, honestly. SOSA publishes nothing about how a double-height space changes that arithmetic. No adjustment, no second figure, no rule of thumb - so nothing of the sort will be invented here, and no derived number for your particular hall exists to be quoted. Describe the room on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - how high, how open above, and what it connects to - and get one straight answer. The same applies above the published figure: no guidance is published on what a second machine would add, so a very large joined volume is a conversation rather than a calculation.
3
Variables four and five
The hosting pattern, and then the person who would run it
Variable four is how the house is used. This is where the two formats separate cleanly. Vaayu runs in windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours on chosen days, with adjustable intensity, from a Bluetooth app or the buttons on the unit, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. A reed is the opposite by design: passive, about 6 to 10 weeks, no settings, and running whether or not anybody is in the building. If the house is properly full one evening a week and quiet the rest, a schedule is worth real money. If it is lived in evenly every day, a bottle that simply runs is arguably the more sensible object.

Variable five is who operates it, and it outranks the other four. It is also the one almost nobody weighs. A schedule is worth nothing in a household where nobody sets schedules. If the plain answer to will anybody open the app or press a button is no, then a passive bottle is the better gift and this page should say so rather than sell around it - reeds from ₹749 ask nothing of anybody and keep working. A machine left on its factory setting for a year is a costly reed diffuser with a plug on it.

The honest limits, before you spend anything. The page gives tank life two ways - about 75 days in its specification data and 90 or more in its body copy - and it depends on intensity and scheduled hours in any case. There is no published multi-unit guidance, no installation service, no warranty period and no running-cost figure. Every unit does ship with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, so nothing further is needed on day one, and waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm afterwards.
Tip: Name the operator out loud. If there is not one, the five-variable answer is a bottle.
SOSA Vaayu, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted
Read the number strictly, not generously
About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of air that is actually connected
Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. The caveat matters more than the number. A rating assumes one connected body of air. A ground floor that runs living into dining into a stairwell is one volume and is exactly what the figure describes. A bungalow of the same total area with six closed doors is not one volume, it is six rooms, and the figure does not transfer. Work out how much of the house is genuinely open before you work out anything else - and note that no guidance is published on what a second unit adds.
See SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 →
Work it out in this order
The five variables as a ten-minute walk and one honest question
  1. Walk the floor and count the openings with no door in them. That is the volume.
  2. A house of closed rooms is N rooms. Reeds from Rs 749, one room at a time.
  3. Ask on WhatsApp about a double-height hall. SOSA publishes nothing about it.
  4. Name who will operate it. If nobody will, a passive bottle is the better gift.
The SOSA principle
Three of these five variables are properties of the building and two are properties of the household, and the two you cannot read off a drawing are the ones that decide the purchase. A schedule has no value in a house where nobody sets one.
That is why this decision is so often got wrong by people who start from the built-up area. Area is the least informative number in the whole problem, because it says nothing about whether the air is joined, how high it goes, when the house is full, or whether anybody will ever touch a control.

The three four-scent sets, what is in the box, and what it runs on

There are three published four-scent sets and every one of them is ₹11,999, so this part is taste rather than budget. The sets pair Ritz-Carlton with Westin, St. Regis and 1 Hotels inspirations; Westin with Shangri-La, Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton; and St. Regis with W Hotels, 1 Hotels and Four Seasons. To be exact about what they are: SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations, composed by SOSA, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. There is a real argument to consider for a house somebody intends to live in for decades, which is that the lobby register is not obviously what a family wants at home after two years of making a place theirs - four bottles of 100 ml each give them room to find that out for themselves. On the bottle side, the three duo sets are ₹1,498, ₹1,548 and ₹1,598 in two 50 ml bottles and ₹2,498, ₹2,548 and ₹2,598 in two 130 ml bottles. Those three pairings are the entire set range and none of them is composed to order, so treat a duo as a fixed pair rather than a chosen one. Afterwards, SOSA waterless nebuliser refills at ₹1,049 for 100 gm suit the machine; the water-based bottles elsewhere on the site belong to the ultrasonic line and are a different fluid for a different device.

The SOSA gift edit
The ladder in full, and the house each rung is actually for
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
Reed diffusers · ₹749 to ₹1,349 One enclosed room each, about 6 to 10 weeks, alcohol-free, nothing to plug in and nothing to operate. Correct for a house of closed rooms and for any household that will not run a device. It stops the moment it is asked to serve a large joined volume, where a passive bottle works on the air near it and no further.
Reed duo sets · ₹1,498 to ₹2,598 Two bottles in one box, either two 50 ml or two 130 ml. The neat answer for two rooms that matter, and a properly presentable gift. Only three pairings are published and none is composed to order, so the pairing is fixed. Same limit as a single bottle once the volume opens up.
Ultrasonic machines · Sukoon ₹1,899, Megh ₹5,999 Water-based, single room or small area. They need water as well as oil and regular refilling, which is a real recurring ask of somebody who did not choose the machine - worth weighing carefully when this is a gift rather than a purchase.
SOSA Vaayu · ₹11,999 Waterless cold-air, published for up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, 1, 4, 8 and 24-hour windows on chosen days, adjustable intensity, four 100 ml fragrances in the box. It is the answer to one joined volume operated by somebody, and the wrong answer to everything else.
SOSA Vaayu ships with four Hotel Collection fragrances
The two details that matter in a finished house
Under 38 dB, and it runs only when you tell it to
Two published details decide whether this belongs in a house somebody spent years on. It runs under 38 dB, which is the answer to the reasonable worry about a machine humming in a double-height living room. And it is scheduled: Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, with auto-stop and a key-lock. That is what makes it workable in a house occupied for part of the year, or a room used only when people come over. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, and it ships with four 100 ml fragrances - so it is complete on the day it arrives.

Two ends of the ladder deserve a plain word. At the top, SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine, built for a hotel, a showroom or a corporate floor. For a bungalow it is not the ambitious choice, it is the wrong one, and it is worth saying that the catalogue holds nothing between the two - so if one Vaayu does not cover the joined volume, the next published step is a commercial machine rather than a middle option, and the sensible move is a conversation on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. At the other end, SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 travels with a person to a car or a hotel room rather than scenting a property, and it is imported rather than made in India, while attars from ₹379 are worn rather than placed and candles from ₹399 need a flame and somebody to light them, which is simply what the format is - and no burn-hour figure is published for them. None of those is a worse product. They answer different questions from the one on this page.

The number this whole decision turns on, and where it stops being true
Up to 1000 m3 - about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of connected air
SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing else in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. It is a waterless cold-air machine producing a dry, residue-free mist with no water and no heat, running under 38 dB on DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, in black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, and its country of origin is India. But a coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. That figure describes an open-plan living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall - the kind of volume a small passive bottle cannot reach. It does not describe a bungalow with every internal door closed, because that is not one volume; it is six. Above about 3,000 sq ft of genuinely connected space, or across separated wings, the honest answer is a conversation rather than a number, because no multi-unit guidance is published. SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine rather than a house gift.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.

A coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. Vaayu's figure describes an open-plan volume - a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall. A house with every internal door shut is not one volume, and the figure does not transfer to it. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, and its country of origin is India. Fragrance adds a scent to a space; it does not remove, neutralise or purify one, and the dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue rather than about air quality. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and quantities are settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

The honest spec sheet
What the Vaayu page publishes, and what it does not
Everything below is on the live product page. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
  • Coverage - up to 1000 m3, published as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. A rating assumes one connected body of air, so it describes an open-plan floor rather than a house of closed rooms.
  • The machine - waterless cold-air diffusion, dry and residue-free, no water and no heat. 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm, 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted. DC 12V / 1A, 5W. Under 38 dB. Auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS. Country of origin India.
  • Control - a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity. This is what makes it workable in a house that is empty for stretches, or a room used only at weekends.
  • In the box - every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at ₹11,999. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand.
  • The fragrance - alcohol-free, water-free oils formulated for cold-air diffusion. SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm and are published for Vaayu and Safar. The water-based ultrasonic bottles belong to a different kind of machine.
  • Not published, and therefore never stated here: how long a 400ml fill lasts as a single figure - the page says about 75 days in one place and 90 or more in another; what a second unit adds; any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; and any running or electricity cost. Those go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

A note from Sonal

The messages I find hardest to answer are the ones that begin with an apology. They have just finished building the house. I don't want to sound cheap, but I also can't buy them anything that matters at that scale. And underneath it is a real anxiety: that after years of drawings and delays and site visits, whatever you turn up with will look like a token.

What I would say is that the anxiety is aimed at the wrong thing. You are not competing with the house. Nobody is. The people who built it spent two years choosing between four shades of the same stone, and there is no object you can hand over that will register on that scale. Trying is how people end up buying a vase that gets moved to a spare room.

The reason I keep coming back to scent for these particular houses is unromantic. It is the last layer, and it is the only one nobody planned. An architect resolves the volume, a designer resolves the surfaces, a lighting consultant resolves the evening, and then everybody stops - because scent is not on anybody's drawing. So it is one of the few things left that adds to a finished house without arguing with a single decision already made in it.

The part I would be careful about is the number. Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does, and I would rather you read it strictly than generously. About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, of air that is actually connected. A ground floor that opens living into dining into a stairwell is that. A bungalow with six closed doors is not that, whatever its total square footage says on paper, and a page that blurs the two is doing you no favours.

How do I work out whether one machine is enough for a bungalow?
Do not start from the built-up area. Walk from the front door and count the openings with no door in them, because air on both sides of a doorless opening is one body. SOSA Vaayu is published for up to 1000 cubic metres, stated as approximately 2,000 to 3,000 square feet, and that figure assumes one connected body of air rather than a total floor area.
What if the house is mostly separate closed rooms?
Then it is not one volume and no coverage figure applies to it. It is N rooms, and the honest answer is a reed diffuser from Rs 749 in 50 ml or Rs 1,249 in 130 ml in each room that matters, or a duo set at Rs 1,498 to Rs 2,598 for two of them. That is a cheaper answer and a correct one rather than a compromise.
Does a double-height hall change the coverage figure?
It changes the arithmetic, and SOSA publishes nothing about how much. The figure is cubic and the square-foot line beside it is a translation that assumes an ordinary ceiling, so a room open above is a different sum from the same floor area under a normal one. Describe the room on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 rather than deriving a number.
How does the hosting pattern affect the choice?
A machine can be told when to run: windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days of the week, and adjustable intensity, from an app or the buttons on it. A reed cannot be told anything; it is passive, runs about 6 to 10 weeks and works whether or not anybody is in the building. An unevenly used house is the case for a schedule.
What is not published, and what should I ask about?
There is no single tank-life figure - the page says about 75 days in its specification data and 90 or more days in its body copy, and it depends on intensity and scheduled hours anyway. There is no multi-unit guidance, no installation service, no warranty period and no running-cost figure. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.

Answer five questions in order and the purchase answers itself
Vaayu at ₹11,999 when the house is one connected volume of up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft and somebody in it will set a schedule. Reed diffusers from ₹749 or a duo set at ₹1,498 to ₹2,598 when the rooms are separate, or when nobody will operate anything. For a double-height hall, a joined volume above the published figure, or what one 400ml fill actually lasts, ask SOSA on WhatsApp rather than working from a page.
Not sure which one suits the person you are buying for? Send SOSA their age, whether they drive, whether they like their home scented and your budget on WhatsApp, and you will get an honest answer - including when the cheaper product is the better gift.

About the coverage figure: a rating assumes one connected body of air. The published figure describes an open-plan volume such as a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level or a double-height hall, and does not describe a property whose rooms are separated by closed doors, whatever its total floor area. No guidance is published on what a second unit adds. About tank life: the Vaayu product page states the life of one 400 ml fill in two different ways - approximately 75 days in its specification and FAQ data, and 90 or more days in its body copy - and in either case it depends on the intensity setting and the scheduled hours, so no single figure is stated on this page. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; any running or electricity cost; and any multi-unit coverage. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a space. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify odour, it does not clean the air, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial or air-purifying claim; a dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue and not about air quality. No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep or wellbeing, nor about how any recipient or guest will feel, nor about what a gift does for any business result. No page here characterises any recipient's wealth or describes people who own particular kinds of property; where a property value appears it is the figure the reader themselves supplied as context. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.
