Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 10 min read Updated September 2026
There is a good instinct inside this question and a claim that has to be refused on the way to it. The good instinct: a car whose windows stay shut and whose air-conditioning is on recirculation is not exchanging its air with the street, so whatever you put into it at eight in the morning is still the air you are sitting in at half past. That genuinely argues for restraint. The claim to refuse: that a cool cabin makes a fragrance last longer, or a hot one makes it stronger. SOSA publishes no such thing in either direction, and this page is not going to invent one. One spray is usually enough for a reason that has nothing to do with the thermometer.
SOSA car perfume, spray or hanging, from Rs 449
SOSA car perfume · spray or hanging, same price · nine scents from ₹449 →
The decision behind almost every version of this question, and it is not about the car: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays - three months and more at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, published at 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. Nothing here changes with the powertrain.
Quick answers — read this first
Does a cool parking spot make a car fragrance last longer? No, and SOSA publishes no claim of that kind. The pages say the range is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, and that is a statement about how the liquid is built, not a claim that a scent behaves one way in a cool basement and another way in the sun. No seasonal or temperature performance figure is published at all, so nobody should be quoting one to you.

Why might one spray be enough for a short air-conditioned commute? Because of what the pages actually publish: a fine-mist atomizer where one spray covers the cabin. Add to that a drive with the windows shut, where the air is not being exchanged with the street, and there is no mechanism by which a second spray is doing work the first one has not already done. A 10ml is 100 sprays, and restraint is what turns it into the published 3 months and above at one a day.

Does it matter that the car charges in a basement rather than outside? Not for the fragrance. SOSA publishes nothing about charging and no petrol, diesel or electric product. A covered bay does mean the car is out of the sun and the rain, which is a parking fact worth having - and a car with nothing plugged into it in the next bay has the identical parking fact. What is left that matters is closure, ventilation and how long you are inside.
The short answer
Short answer: One spray is usually enough, but not because the basement is cool. The published reason is the atomizer: one spray covers the cabin, and a closed, air-conditioned drive is not exchanging that air with the street. SOSA publishes no temperature or seasonal performance claim at all. A 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays.
The pick: A 10ml SOSA car perfume spray, ₹449 to ₹549 - 100 sprays, used one at a time as you get in, which is what the published atomizer figure supports.
Why: The published facts are that one spray covers the cabin and that a 10ml holds 100 sprays. Nothing published attaches a performance figure to how cool or warm the parking bay was.
What the car runs on is not the variable. How it is used is.On demand - 10ml spray ₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 spraysContinuous - 12ml hanging, same price, 4 to 6 weeksVentilate a hot or long-shut cabin before you judge itNever - fragrance instead of finding a smell's source
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
Straight answer
My hatchback charges inside a cool basement every night and goes straight into a closed-window, air-conditioned commute in the morning - could relatively stable parking temperatures mean a single light spray is enough?
One spray is very probably enough, but not for the reason in the question, and the difference matters. Take the temperature part first, because it has to be cleared away. SOSA publishes no claim that a fragrance performs differently at one temperature than another - not that a cool cabin makes a scent last longer, not that a warm one makes it stronger, not that any season calls for more or less. The line on the pages is that the range is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, and that describes how the liquid is built to survive an Indian car, not how a scent behaves on a Tuesday in a basement. Anybody quoting you a temperature performance figure is making it up. Now the part that is published and that genuinely supports your instinct. The sprays are described as a fine-mist atomizer where one spray covers the cabin. Your drive keeps the windows shut and the air-conditioning on, so the cabin is not exchanging its air with the street; what you put in at the start is broadly what you are sitting in at the end. Between those two facts there is simply no argument for a second press. A SOSA 10ml spray is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon and ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, and it is published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. One press a morning is the three-month end of that. The 12ml hanging is the same price for the same scent, runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion, and its stopper tightens for subtler, which is the other way of arriving at restraint if you would rather not press anything. Two honest notes. The charging has nothing to do with it - SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no claim about charging, and a covered bay is a parking fact that applies to any car in it. And fragrance adds a scent; it does not remove, neutralise or mask an odour, so a sealed cabin that has started smelling of something new is a question about the car and its air-conditioning, not a case for a heavier hand. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One spray covers the cabin - that is published. A cool basement making a scent last longer is not.
The published position, in one line: one spray covers the cabin, and a 10ml at ₹449 to ₹549 holds 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, runs 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper tightens for subtler. No temperature or seasonal performance figure is published, and none is implied here.
SOSA car perfumes from ₹449

Three reasons one spray is often enough, and temperature is not one of them

The instinct is right and the reasoning needs replacing. Three things genuinely argue for a light hand on this commute, and the temperature of the parking bay is not among them.

01
What is published about the spray
One spray covers the cabin, and a 10ml holds 100 of them
Start with the disclosure rather than the theory. The SOSA sprays are published as a fine-mist atomizer, with one spray covering the cabin, and a 10ml bottle holding 100 sprays - set out on the pages as 3 months and above at one a day, or 50 days at two a day. That is the whole basis for a light hand, and it is enough. If one press covers the space, a second press is not covering it twice; it is spending your bottle at double the rate for an outcome you cannot easily describe. The single most useful thing about this range is that the figure is a number rather than an adjective, so your own habit, not a marketing word, decides how long a bottle lasts.
Tip: One press covers it. A second press just halves the bottle.
02
A sealed drive keeps what you give it
Windows shut and air-conditioning on means the air is not going anywhere
This is the part of your question that is genuinely doing work. A commute with the windows up and the air-conditioning running is a cabin that is not exchanging air with the road. Whatever is in that volume at the start of the drive is largely what is in it at the end, which is exactly the opposite of a drive with two windows down in traffic. So the reason one spray tends to be enough on your route is about ventilation, not about degrees - and it also explains why the same spray in an open-windowed car on the same morning behaves as if it were less. Ventilation is the variable that is actually under your control, and unlike temperature it is one the published facts can speak to.
03
The claim that is not there
No temperature or seasonal performance figure exists, in either direction
It is worth being explicit, because this is where a page like this could very easily lie to you. SOSA publishes no claim that a scent lasts longer in a cool cabin, no claim that it is stronger in a hot one, and no claim that any season calls for more or less. The one temperature line on the pages is that the range is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity. That is a formulation and stability statement - it tells you the liquid is built for an Indian car parked in the sun - and it is not a performance curve. There is no evaporation rate, no scent-throw figure and no seasonal recommendation anywhere in the published material, so this page will not supply one. What you can rely on is the spray count, the atomizer line and your own observation.
Tip: A formulation statement is not a performance claim, and the two get confused constantly.
SOSA Mysore Orange Blossom car perfume spray, 10ml and 50ml
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
See Mysore Orange Blossom from ₹549 →
Work it out in this order
How to get this right on a sealed, air-conditioned commute
  1. Start at one spray as you get in. One spray covers the cabin - that is published.
  2. Keep the windows shut as you already do. That is what keeps the air where it is.
  3. Wait a full week before changing anything. One morning is not a pattern.
  4. Judge by the bottle. A 10ml is 100 sprays, so the rate shows up as it goes down.
The SOSA principle
One spray covers the cabin, and a sealed car keeps what you give it. That is the entire argument for a light hand, and it needs no theory about temperature.
Refusing the temperature claim costs this page a neat story and buys it the right to be trusted on the rest.

Picking a scent for a short, sealed, air-conditioned drive

A light hand makes the scent choice more important rather than less, because you are living with one press of it for the whole drive. Lavender at ₹479 is the softest of the nine on the pages' own ordering and is the obvious place to start if restraint is the goal. Jasmine at ₹449 is the other soft floral and the entry price of the range. Lemon at ₹499, Icy Mint at ₹489 and Sea Breeze at ₹509 are the bright, clean end. Sandalwood at ₹479 and Vetiver at ₹509 are woody and grounded, and Oud at ₹509 is published as the deepest of the nine - which in a sealed cabin is something to choose deliberately rather than by accident. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only.

The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to get restraint into a sealed cabin, and where each one fails
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
One spray from a 10ml, ₹449 to ₹549 The published unit: one spray covers the cabin, and the bottle holds 100 of them. It fails only in that it needs you to be disciplined about it, and a second reflex press on a distracted morning is how a three-month bottle becomes a fifty-day one.
A 12ml hanging with the stopper tightened Same price as the spray, 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion, and tightening the stopper is the published way to make it subtler. It fails because the adjustment is not per journey - you set it and live with it - and it is running all night in the basement with nobody there.
A softer scent instead of a lighter hand Choosing Lavender or Jasmine rather than Oud changes what restraint feels like without asking you to remember anything. It fails if the scent you actually want is a deep one, in which case you have solved the wrong problem and given up the thing you were buying for.
The 50ml spray at ₹1,499 500 sprays, published as about a year and more, and genuinely the right size for a settled one-press-a-day routine. It fails as a first purchase, because there is no spray refill and you would be committing a year to a habit you have not yet watched for a month.
SOSA Lavender car perfume, spray and hanging formats
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
See SOSA car perfumes from ₹449 →

The rest of the published sheet, so you can see where the edges are. A 50ml is 500 sprays at ₹1,499 and is stated as about a year and more; a spray combo is 200 sprays, published as 100 days at two a day rotating; 15ml hanging refills are ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents and there is no spray refill. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant. What is not published, and therefore not stated here: any cabin-volume or coverage figure, any scent-throw or evaporation figure, any seasonal or temperature performance claim, and any concentration. If somebody quotes you one of those, it did not come from SOSA.

SOSA car perfume spray 10ml, from Rs 449
₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 sprays. Fragrance you decide to have, journey by journey - which is the format that suits a car occupied an hour or two a day.

SOSA Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set, from Rs 699

The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.

One message, one honest recommendation
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.
WhatsApp SOSA
SOSA does not publish a temperature performance claim, so this page will not hand you one. One spray covers the cabin and a closed car keeps it. That is the honest version, and it is enough.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.

The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.

What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.

So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.

And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.

Frequently asked questions

Does a fragrance last longer in a cool car than a hot one?
No published SOSA figure says so, in either direction. The only temperature line on the pages is that the range is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, which describes how the liquid is built rather than how a scent behaves at a given temperature. No evaporation rate, scent-throw figure or seasonal performance claim is published, so nobody can honestly quote you one.
Why is one spray usually enough on a short commute?
Because of two published facts rather than any theory. The sprays are a fine-mist atomizer and one spray covers the cabin; and your drive keeps the windows up with the air-conditioning on, so the air is not being exchanged with the street. Between them there is no mechanism by which a second press does work the first has not already done.
Does charging in a basement rather than outdoors change anything?
Not for the fragrance. SOSA publishes nothing about charging and no petrol, diesel or electric product. A covered bay does keep the car out of sun and rain, which is a genuine parking difference - and it applies identically to a car in the next bay with nothing plugged into it. Closure, ventilation and occupied time are what remain.
If I want the cabin subtler, should I buy a smaller size or a different scent?
Neither is the first move. The 10ml and the 50ml hold the same liquid, so size changes how long it lasts and not how it behaves. Try one spray instead of two for a week; if it is still more than you want, the hanging's stopper tightens for subtler, or move to one of the softer scents. Lavender at Rs 479 is the softest on the pages' own ordering.
How do I tell whether I am using more than I think?
Watch the bottle and count backwards. A 10ml is published at 100 sprays, which the pages set out as 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two a day. If a bottle is going down faster than your intended rate predicts, you are pressing more often than you believe - and a passenger will usually confirm it before the arithmetic does.

Tell SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 how long the drive is, whether the windows stay shut and how strong you want the cabin to be, and you will get one straight answer - including which of the nine scents suits a one-press-a-day habit and when the hanging with a tightened stopper is the better route. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product details reflect the SOSA range; the reasoning about parking, occupancy and ventilation applies to any brand.

Specifications verified from the live SOSA product pages, September 2026: SOSA publishes nine car perfume scents. Eight are sold in two formats at the same price per scent - a 10ml spray and a 12ml hanging: Jasmine ₹449; Lavender and Sandalwood ₹479; Icy Mint ₹489; Lemon ₹499; Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze ₹509. Mysore Orange Blossom is spray only, ₹549 in 10ml. A 50ml spray is ₹1,499. The published quantities are: 10ml equals 100 sprays, stated as three months and above at one spray a day and fifty days at two a day; 50ml equals 500 sprays, stated as about a year and more; a spray combo is 200 sprays; and a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks, that is 28 to 42 days, of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle whose stopper loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler. Four combos are published - Jasmine & Lemon and Jasmine & Lavender at ₹899, Oud + Lemon and Sandalwood & Oud at ₹949 - each as a spray combo of 2 x 10ml or a hanging combo of 2 x 12ml at the same price. The Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set publishes nine combinations, ₹699 to ₹899 for three and ₹2,999 for all nine; those nine are the entire set range and none is composed to order. Hanging refills are 15ml at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents; there is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India. SOSA Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
